I read widely and I have undertaken a lot of research, theres so much out there but you guys refuse to educate yourselves, some of this information can be obtained from western govt libraries as they declassify confidential information after a couple of years if they feel that it will not jeopardise their country's national security.

Well I can tell you the answer - these companies were set up by whites whose only interest in Africa is to maximise profit and make billions off our sweat, we Africans will not be allowed to set these sort of companies up unless we are militarily able to fend off Europe and the US from intervention as there is no way they will allow us to set up companies which will financially benefit us and cut them out of the picture. So in order to realise this goal our only solution is to become militarily strong enough to protect ourselves from them and then move on to the next stage which is to industrialise our own economies in order to end any type of control that they have over us.

Also the Nigerian govt is an extension of western imperialists - they do not represent the interests of the average Nigerian and therefore it is completely futile and naïve to expect these traitors to provide you with jobs and a better way of life.

I don't live in Nigeria, but if I did I would destroy anything connected to DSTV or MTN period. The majority of Nigerians live below the poverty line, if you want to elevate your conditions on a wider scale you have to start thinking as a collective not in terms of what a few have. I honestly doubt there are upto 10,000 black South Africans in the UK. However, I'd wager that there are hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in South Africa. So, are you willing to risk the lives of hundreds of thousands for just a few thousands? Also, I don't even think most Nigerians in South Africa want to return to Nigeria - why put their lives at risk?

It's better to pray for peace to reign, and other black folks to come together and put pressure on the ANC government to grow some balls and find a lasting solution to the wealth disparities in that. Deregulation means increase in prices as market forces will now dictate prices, this is why your electricity costs are higher, this is the thing many of you simply don't understand. Privatisation of entities formerly owned by govt does not equate to lower prices and improved quality. - Subsidy is payment made to importers of petroleum products. Because of our inability to refine our own crude, we have no other option but to import petrol from foreign countries at a higher cost. This is my understanding of how the process works in NIgeria:

Nigeria produces oil via the oil multinationals for both internal and external consumption. 445,000 barrels per day are allocated to internal consumption and it is to be forwarded to the domestic refineries. This is not part of the country’s OPEC oil quota of over 2.5 million barrels per day.

However, the national refineries have all been sabotaged. [b]Since 2003, this quota is being sold on the international market with the initial understanding that its proceeds will be used to pay for the country’s fuel importation.

Prior to 2003, the 445,000 barrels per day was sold to the NNPC at near production price and if the Nigerian refineries were down it was exported to foreign refineries and the country just paid for the cost of refining. The refined products are thus brought back.

However, in order to make much more money this method was abandoned in the interests of the multinationals and the very rich in Nigeria. All the Nigerian refineries have since been grounded and the government is planning on selling them off cheaply.

The total sale of the 445,000 barrels per day for this year alone amounts to about $14 billion at $90 per barrel. This is more than enough to pay for the importation of all the country’s fuel. Petrol is currently sold at N65 per litre and this price actually covers the cost of importation and still gives a profit to both the government and the oil giants doing the importation.[/b]

So in other words all NNPC and their collaborators are doing is selling refined crude oil which was sold to them at a discount back to the Nigerian populace at a profit in collaboration with their multinational collaborators. So I would like to know where is the so called subsidy?

The solution to the fuel subsidy which is the major Nigerian subsidy is to build and stimulate the building of local refineries...thats all

the difference between US subsidies for farmers and the so called oil subsidy in Nigeria is that the former actually exists while the latter is a scam that is being used by the Nigerian govt to get the masses to pay for something that they never enjoyed for one day. The US farmer subsidies genuinely help to keep food prices low while the Nigerian "subsidy" is a smokescreen used to make Nigerians pay more for something that they should be getting cheap.

Now that the time has come for these loans to be repaid along with the interest that has accrued on them the bill is now being handed over to the NIgerian masses,this is why they are talking about subsidy. There never was anything like a subsidy, a lie has to be concocted to justify why they are going to increase the price of petrol. Why is Nigeria the only oil exporting country that talks about subsidising something that they have in abundance.
