Miss EZ: Yes people should keep in shape and not be obese, but to insult someones appearance because they are curvy is just low. I think that if someone dresses appropriately for their body type then that person should be commended. After all we see much smaller people wearing stuff that does nothing to compliment their figures. Let us learn to respect and appreciate ourselves and our bodies, and stop imposing the ideals of other culture on our own.
There is a very big difference between being curvy and being fat - most of the women here are NOT curvy they are flat out fat and to make matters worse they are wearing clothes that expose the layers of flab on them instead of wearing clothes that draw attention away from the flab. Omotola claims to be curvy but is in fact fat, Ini Edo is fat, Monalisa Chinda is obese but continues to wear clothes which draw attention to her massive body, when you are fat you do not wear a billowing bright orange dress - she actually looks as if she is wearing a parachute (a very tight one) - its either you lose weight or wear clothes that hide the flab - you cant eat your cake and have it too.

michelin89: Number 2 and 3 are OK!

Number 4 is the proof that Nigerian girls are indeed very confident. I have never seen any other nationality carrying their pot belly, flabby arms and cellulite-filled thighs with so much grace! grin
In the land of the blind a one eyed man is king - i would prefer to describe them as walking around in a state of blissful ignorance - if they were to leave nigeria dressed in any of those clothes and attend any function the stares and sniggers that would greet them would make them run back home and change.
Celebrities › Re: Nigerian Celebrities And Red Carpet Dressing by cap28: 6:00pm On Jun 12, 2012
nigerians love copying european fashion - but they forget that those clothes are designed by europeans for europeans with european body shape, take a look at all of the over weight women wearing clinging dresses that only accentuate their bulging stomachs and sagging arms and legs. If these women were to wear traditional african clothing they would look much more elegant as it would cover up all of the nasty flabby flesh on display here.

Please can we see more nigerian celebrities in elegant nigerian clothing, almost all of the women here look like mutton dressed as mutton.

bittyend: Yeah, Kola Boof is intelligent but she goes over the top all the time..

She's an attention seeking LovePeddler.
Then that would make every female entertainer in america an attention seeking LovePeddler as well.

I wonder what you would call talentless waste of space Paris HIlton then or equally useless Katie Price whose only claim to fame is having surgically enhanced b.rea.sts which enabled her to accumulate a fortune of over £40million!!

Kola is no where as shallow and fake as the above two and yet she is demonised by the western press because she is a black woman trying to make a buck - is wealth only meant for white women?

Kola is a straight talker and is very unpretentious unlike that pathetic wanna be Linda Ikeji - she was brought up by african americans who adopted her when she was a child so she is very opinionated and confident - i like her. Kola can run rings around that im.becilic Ikeji.

At least Kola Boof is intelligent and talented - Linda Ikeji is a fake wannabe who is obsessed with trying to look and act like a black american - her blog is full of brain dead garbage that no self respecting person would ever dream of reading.

Kola on the other hand is an acclaimed writer - read her book - Diary of a lost girl which is an autobiographical account of her traumatic life and how she over came so many obstacles to be where she is in life today.

Katsumoto: We agree that Nigeria had no business going to the IMF. The difference in our positions relates to your conspiracy theory. While that theory is plausible, it is not a widely accepted fact. I will guess that most people will agree it was corruption.

I wasn't exonerating anyone. Whilst external bodies may not have your best interest at heart, sovereign nations must protect themselves from external influence. Its like a man running his household. Corporations will seek to sink their fangs into you but you have to decide what is best for your family. Who do you blame? The man who took a loan with an interest of 29% or the shark who gave him the loan?
You are not getting it - Buhari REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE IMF LOAN AND ENDED UP BEING OVERTHROWN!!!!! Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by cap28: 9:27pm On Jun 04, 2012
Katsumoto: If the Cuban model was such a successful model, many nations and individuals would have voted for it. Besides, Cubans didn’t vote for communism, it was forced upon them. Nigeria is not a Capitalist nation. Capitalism encourages and stimulates private investment. There is nothing about Nigeria that is conducive for business. You need to either understand the definition of Capitalism or understand the Nigerian environment better. The Nigerian environment stifles innovation, reduces productivity and profitability, and promotes mediocrity, which is completely antithetic to the ideals of pure capitalism.
Im not sure what you mean by "many nations would have voted for it" voted for it how and where?

Do you not understand that cuba is regarded as an enemy nation to western nations who are unable to exploit it?

Cuba went through a revolution where they succeeded in kicking out a corrupt pro american govt.

This corrupt govt which was run by CAstro's predecessor Batista had opened up cuba to exploitation by the US govt and the american mafia who were basically running Cuba as if it was one giant Casino.

RAcism was rife in Cuba at that time and black cubans were persecuted and denied the same rights as other cubans.

As a black man in cubas before the revolution you would not have been allowed to get an education. When Castro overthrew Batista the american backed puppet, laws were enacted making discrimination against cuba's black population illegal.

If nigeria is not a capitalist country why did it enact The Privatisation and Commercialisation Act 1988?

How about the Bureau of Public Enterprise Act 1993 and the Public Enterrpises Act of 1999?

Why did it set up the Bureau for Public Enterprise to implement privatisation policies?

Katsumoto: There are approximately 30 million people of working age in the UK and approximately 3 million are long term benefit recipients. The total unemployment figure for the UK is 5.4 million. More than half of those unemployed are not looking for work. That is not a minority.
Britain is a class based society - the elite have a vested interest in keeping the working classes and the underclasses poor and uneducated. Why? because they need to have a reserve of poorly educated low paid labour they can draw on to do the low paid jobs. That is why they have a two tier education system which ensures that the poor will never have access to the type of jobs that the elite have access to. They give the poor just enough to get by. What is the point of criticising people who you have condemned to a life of poverty? If britain were serious about creating an egalitarian society it wouldnt have a two tier education system - one for the poor and one for the rich. This position is glaringly clear with the tories and liberal democrats decisions to increase tuition fees for university students it is now so obvious that they want higher education to only be available to the rich.

The number of Black folks in white collar jobs has been increasing since the early 90s. What you also have to put into consideration is that minorities make up less than 8% of the UK population. It is to be expected that most of the jobs in the city will go to Caucasians. Most countries open up their borders to immigrants so as to fill positions that their citizens don’t want. Many black folks went to the UK to do low paying jobs (these jobs paid more than non-existent jobs in their home countries and provided better working conditions as well) but their kids are going to university and getting white collar jobs. Unless the numbers of minorities increases drastically, Caucasians will take up most of the well paying jobs.

Black folks, especially Nigerians, also need to change their mindset. The UK is a society that values work experience more than academic qualifications. Many Nigerians go to Universities acquiring multiple degrees and then finding out later that they are often qualified and lacking in actual work experience. Anyone with multiple degrees is positioned for opportunities in the academic sector but you find these individuals keep on looking for work in the industry and getting frustrated at not being hired. They usually blame racism for their inabilities to find work.
Look, the situation is going to get a lot worse for english people let alone nigerian immigrants - if they havent provided jobs for their own people why would you think they would provide jobs for nigerian immigrants irrespective of their qualifications or work experience? The tories are not interested in elevating anyone other than members of their own class (and race), you obviously dont understand them.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by cap28: 8:32pm On Jun 04, 2012
Katsumoto: SAP is a requirement of creditors placed on debtors nations. If you don’t want any one to dictate how you run your country, then don’t borrow. SAP is required when you are spending more than you are earning and can’t find another revenue source to plug the difference. It’s a no brainer. The UK went to the IMF cap in hand to request a £2.3 in 1976.

In any case, Nigeria had no business going to borrow from the IMF other than IBB and other dictators like him wanted to embezzle borrowed funds. Which foreign investors took advantage of SAP? What govt assets were sold to foreign investors? The first wave of foreign investors to invest in Nigeria arrived during OBJ’s tenure. I won’t refer to oil companies as investors. Nigeria is the wrong country to use as an example anyway.
I really do wonder about you, you need to broaden your reading scope and learn to do more indepth research.

How did nigeria end up being entangled with SAP?

Did the nigerian govt set out to create the conditions that enabled the IMF to come in and exploit Nigeria?

For your information the nigerian economy was growing steadily in the 1970s as a direct result of the increase in oil prices on the international markets, it was only when the price of oil collapsed that Nigeria found itself in a dillemma.

Prior to this period Nigeria was generating huge revenue and most of this money was deposited in foreign banks who were then lending this money out to poorer countries with huge interest rates attached, in other words nigeria's propserity directly benefitted western banks.

Western banks also encouraged oil rich nigeria to borrow more than they were generating from oil exports m in order to finance infrastructure projects. At the time oil prices were high enough to finance the repayment of these loans, however when oil prices fell, nigeria fell into arrears and were advised by these same western banks to borrow from the IMF. The loans were granted but with conditions attached to them such as: currency devaluation, selling off of govt owned assets to foreigners and cuts in public spending. In other words western creditor nations were now trying to covertly hijack Nigeria's economic sovereignty as a result of the debts we had accumulated base on the advice that they had given to us.

The western banks were determined to ensure that we would remain trapped in our indebtedness to them and decided to hike the interest rates on these loans making it virtually impossible for nigeria to ever get out of the debt trap.

Buhari attempted to find alternative ways to pay off this debt without plunging the nigerian populace into abject poverty but his tenure was abruptly brought to a halt by a military coup masterminded by the CIA which installed the notorious drug baron and CIA asset Ibrahim Babangida.

Babangida obediently went on to implement the draconian economic policies demanded by the IMF which resulted in the complete destruction of the nigerian health and education system the baton was subsequently passed to another CIA lackey Olusegun Obasanjo who began the mass privatisation of nigerian assets and their handover to foreign investors. OBJ then went on to prepare the nigerian economy for its eventual takeover by foreign investors.

Yur attempt to exonerate the western powers from their objective of keeping nigeria economically enslaved indicates to me how little you understand about how the western powers operate.
The UK's decision to go to the IMF was based on the fact that they were completely bankrupt as they had previously tried to grow their economy by spending more than they were actually generating - this resulted in inflation and massivley high unemployment. Nigeria on the other hand was not bankrupt, as an oil rich nation it did not need "help" from the IMF and Buhari made this very clear to the western powers.

I am amazed at how little you know about your own country! Nigeria's economic sovereignty has been hijacked by foreign investors courtesy of Babangida and Obasanjo and the world bank puppet aka Okonjo Iweala is putting the finishing touches to the complete economic take over of the nigerian economy by her western capitalist masters in washington and yet you remain completely oblivious to this glaring fact - wow!

charles taylor was armed, trained and financed by the US govt for years. The CIA helped him escape from a maximum security prison in boston and a few years later he turned up in Liberia where he was able to wage a brutal war against the govt of Liberia. He is a fall guy, the americans used him to get rid of Samuel Doe and then he outlived his usefulness so they decided to silence him forever by clamping him in prison- Taylor is a dangerous and murderous psycopath but without the money, arms and training he received from the US he would never have caused the amount of misery, suffering and death that he caused on the people of Liberia.

Now that he knows too much the power that made it possible for him to escape from a maximum security prison has decided to silence him once and for all - anyway good riddance to a piece of sh.it.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by cap28:
Katsumoto: How can neoliberalism be the root cause of the problems in Nigeria when neoliberalism is all about deregulation, free markets and open trade and we know for a fact that the powers that be in Nigeria are only interested in stealing crude oil revenues? Perhaps you mean that capitalists in the West are interested in Nigeria for profit but that is just plain old greed since they are not involved in the markets in Nigeria.
Structural adjustment Programmes implemented by Ibrahim Babangida in 1985 were the beginning of nigeria's nightmare with neo liberalism - Babangida followed the dictates of the IMF and cut public spending causing mass unemployment, he then devalued the naira, cut spending on health and education and began to sell off govt owned assets to foreign investors - all of this was done to open up nigeria's economy for foreign investors - these are all the things you champion but look at the destruction it caused in your own country.

I never stated the working class don’t want to work, I sated that there are people who have never worked a day in their lives. These people have fathers, mothers, children, etc. who have also never worked in their lives. How can you refer to scroungers who depend on society for their livelihood as working class?
I agree there are piss takers who will always want to take advantage of the welfare system but what percentage are they of overall british society? these people are a small minority.

What crap jobs are you talking about? Africans and Eastern Europeans are involved in all layers of the employment market. Just as they engaged as road sweepers, you will also find them working as engineers, tradesmen, doctors, etc. Why do you think all black people in the UK are suffering and wretched? I will be the first to admit that the system is not perfect, just as it isn’t perfect elsewhere, but there are still opportunities for those who have lofty dreams. Quit projecting your view on others.
Africans in this country are concentrated in the low paid jobs and many are not working with their qualifications - FACT i dont know where you are getting your information from that they are concentrated in all layers of the british employment market, how many africans or blacks for that matter do you see working in the city of london? how many in the multinationals like shell, yes you have a few medical doctors working in the NHS but thats about it and their numbers are negligible.

One would think that only white people benefitted from Thatcher’s neoliberal policies. Asians, black folks, etc. all benefitted from the policies. Guess what? The huge taxes that these folks pay all goes to supporting the lazy buggers who are perpetual dole collectors. Where do you think that the UK government, that has no minerals and is almost dependent on taxes, gets the revenue to support single mothers, disabled people, scroungers, and everyone else that is dependent on the government? Who pays for single mother who has 6 kids with different fathers? There are many examples I can give?
The only people who benefitted from Thatcher's neo liberal economic policies were the rich yuppies in the city of london and other super rich business people, everyone else remained in the same position. These people enjoy astronomical salaries with bonuses and other allowances that place them on a completely different level from everyone else and Shymmex is a hundred percent right about the way they avoid paying tax, many of them keep their assets in safe havens away from the prying eyes of the tax man - did you not hear that Phillip Green the owner of BHS and Top Shop was able to avoid paying over £1 billion in tax a few years ago and there are many more millionaires like him who pay practically no tax in this country, by the way Thatcher gave these people huge tax rebates when she was in power so your argument about their tax funding the welfare state does not make sense.

I will admit that neoliberalism has its problems. It is not without its fault but what is the alternative? Socialism, communism? In case you didn’t get the memo, those philosophies have failed.
Says who? How come Cuba is still able to provide free health care and free education for all of its citizens.
How come it works in the Scandinavian countries which operate one of the most equitable systems in western europe?

Would you rather live in capitalist nigeria or socialist Cuba or Scandinavia?

I am not even a proponent of neoliberalism but I know for a fact that it saved the UK from economic death caused by the liberal policies of the labour governments of the 70s. Where did neoliberalism fail Britain? It failed in that deregulation led to the current crisis. But what about where it succeeded? It increased revenue for the government. It saved the UK from the IMF and austere policies. The privatization strategy was adopted by many eastern communist states which enabled them, including Britain, to get rid of the inefficiencies caused by state socialism. It weakened the trade unions which crippled the UK economy of the 70s and ended wage & price fixing which was not in the interest of the consumer. I know you are unlikely to find merits in these points because you are a leftist but remember that not everyone is a leftist.
So why did you leave nigeria to escape the capitalist nightmare that is currently in place there - there are no safety nets there, all govt assets are privatised in order to generate income for investors and the nigerian economy is actually growing at a rate of 7% - but look at how the masses live -how has this "growth" benefitted the average nigerian man or woman?

If the government saves money by encouraging its citizens to buy their own homes, how is that a bad thing? Will the savings not go to other areas in the UK? Did Thatcher withdraw the savings personally? You focus so much energy on negativity it is astounding.
Unlike you, I believe in having a hand in my own destiny. I don’t believe anyone is out to get me. If I don’t succeed, it won’t be because someone is standing in the path of my success, it would be because that’s how it was meant to be.
Yes, the govt encouraged people to buy their own homes and then a few years later increased interest rates and cut jobs - result mass unemployment and mass repossessions of those same homes they claim they helped you to buy - who benefitted? the banks and the govt.

BTW, Can I hear your views on how the UK should be paying for its welfare programs? Where do you expect the revenue to come from? Please be honest.
the govt could start by levying a tax on the financial sector that caused this problem in the first place - the money they could recoup from that alone would cover the cost of running the welfare state.

You make a whole lot of assumptions that could be wrong. How do you know my nationality, country of residence, and situation in life? You can still make cogent points without personalising the debate.

So Thatcher is responsible for generations of people who don't want to work but live in government housing, collect dole checks every week, and rear children that everyone else has to pay for? Yet in that same period, many immigrants have arrived from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe who have not only found work but are doing well. Please look for other reasons.

Society can provide safety nets for those who lose their jobs but it should have time limits. There are far too many lazy people in the UK and they are lazy because the government provides too much. If a government spends more than it earns, it will go bankcrupt. The situation in southern europe is a warning to anyone who believes in a culture of entitlement.

If the coal mines were making money, would there have been a need to close them? She simply stopped subsidizing them which ultimately forced their closures since they weren't profitable.

And lets not forget that Thatcher was equally responsible for many citizens owning their own homes with the Right to buy schemes in the 80s. Without that, many teachers, firemen, bus drivers, etc would have been council tenants till their deaths.
I beleive you are a yoruba man from nigeria who left nigeria because you wanted a better life in the UK? am I wrong?

What i find odd about you is that you continuously argue in defence of a system that has condemned your own people to a life of servitude - neo liberalism is the root cause of Nigeria's woes but the white man will never tell you that - instead he will focus on the corruption of african leaders. Dont get me wrong our leaders are corrupt but their corruption is only one piece of the puzzle. Besides whenever we have tried to get our act together and put in to office decent accountable leaders the west has had them removed (Buhari).

You champion the economic policies of Margaret Thatcher - a woman who was determined to destroy the very people who fought and died in the second world war in order to prevent this country from being over runn by Nazi Germany , the very people who spent years living in poverty and penury before the creation of the welfare state after the second world war, you do not understand any of this because yoiu come from a country where tyranny is the order of the day and where poor people have no voice. You are used to being abused and exploited by the ruling classes and you accept it as your lot in life. That is not the way the working class english man reasons - he stands up for what he beleives in and fights injustice even if it means losing his life in the process - this mindset is alien to many nigerians like you.

Who told you white working class people dont want to work - the difference between them and the nigerian working classes is that they will not bow down in the face of tyranny and accept any crap doled out to them by the ruling classes - this is why Thatcher was disgraced out of office and this is why till today the average working class english person hates her guts- do you know what many of them say about her? that they will dance on her grave when she dies!!!! thats what they think of her - they see her for what she was a ruthless callous capitalist who destroyed the livelihood of poor people- if she were to be a nigerian - people like you would be bowing before her and begging her to take on various useless cheiftancy titles - ignorance and foolishness are twin evils that continue to eat away at us like a cancer.

Yes, africans and eastern europeans came here in the 80s and 90s and did all the crap jobs that no English people wanted - why? because they had no other choice their own countries of origin had already been wrecked by the IMF , these same neo liberal policies wiped out the middle classes in nigeria - hence the brain drain in the early 90s.

You are very funny - who created the economic crisis that we are now experiencng in this country? poor people on state benefits or multi millionaire investment bankers in the city of london?

You need to understand issues and get your facts right before commenting - who is responsible for the current economic crisis in Greece - the ordinary working people or the Greek govt and their financial advisers - Goldman Sachs?

Again get your information right before commenting - the sale of council houses to working class people was of more benefit to the govt than the buyers - why? because the govt could make huge savings by not having to dole out money to maintain and refurbish these properties - many of which were in dilapidated conditions.

The other thing was that if you lost your job and couldnt keep up with the mortgage repayments on your property you would lose it and be back to square one as the govt made sure that they would not pay for your mortgage repayments if you lost your job.

Thatcher was all about protecting the privileged and throwing the poor and underprivileged into the gutter - her legacy:

dismantling of the unions that protected jobs of working class people

partial dismantling of the welfare state that protects the most vulnerable people in society

removing safety nets for elderly and sick people

causing an astronomical rise in unemployment following her decision to cut thousands of jobs in the public sector

creation of a polarised society with those at the top enjoying enormous wealth while those at the bottom of society wallow in an endless vicious cycle of poverty.

Unlike you the average working class brit understands who their enemy is - only a nigerian will argue in defence of a system that seeks to destroy them, the average nigerian is so dumb and st.upid that they prefer to take sides with their oppressor rather than fight against a system that seeks to keep them in the gutter.

DailyNews: I am of the opinion that we Nigerians should jointly sign an agreement & put it into our constitution to import some white people (Europeans & Americans only!) & give them automatic citizenship by conferment. Then we will distribute them to various parts of Nigeria to live & mingle with Nigerians. I would suggest 1million of them, more especially ladies for reproduction. Then we should give them certain posts to occupy, viz. chief justice of the nation, police ig, senate president, speaker of house, efcc chairperson, icpc chairperson, all state commissioners of police & chief justices, vice chancellors of our universities, inec chairman & minister for power, technology & labour. And then we must give them total autonomy to exercise their powers fully & independent of presidential orders. Only them can rescue Nigeria, else, we will continue to dangle like a pendulum clock!
And after all that I suppose they will I'mvite u to take over the reins of development ? What happens if they decide to create a european enclave in nigeria and start shipping in more europeans to increase their numbrs? Wht if they decide to relocate u to some arid part of the country and exclude u frm enjoying the benefits of devt, wht if he passes a law making it illegal for any blacks in nigeria to go beyond a primary school education ? All of these happened under white minority rle in south africa wth the support of america and europe

Katsumoto: The UK returned to prominence during Thatcher's era as she tackled the unions that crippled the previous governments (labour) and sought to reduce the level of welfarism. But over 60 years of extreme welfarism has affected the UK. There are generations in the UK who have never worked a day in their lives and live comfortably. In the US, they would be hobos.
I honestly wonder which planet you are living on.

You come from a country where neo liberal economic policies have forced you to leave your country of origin to come and live here in the UK a country that still has some remnants of the welfare state in place, a country where people like you can claim benefits if you are unemployed but you are advocating for the removal of social safety nets that protect people like you from destitution.

If this is not the mindset of a delusional person i dont know what is.

So Thatcher is now some kind of hero to you - are you aware of the damage that she did to the working class people in this country? her assault and subsequent neutralisation of the unions gave rise to the insecurity in employment that many workers face in this country. With no proper organised unions to protect the interests of minorities and the working classes we are at the mercy of the capitalist establishment who are hell bent on making working conditions in this country equivalent to what obtains in hell holes like china where workers have no rights.

The reasons that there are generations that have never worked in this country is because thatcher took away their means of livelihood in the 1980s when she launched her ruthless assault on them, she closed down the coal mines in the north, cut taxes for the rich, deregulated the financial sector and planted the seeds that have now created the huge inequalities that we see between the rich and the poor in this country. The woman wreaked so much havoc in this country that her tenure in office resulted in mass demonstrations and riots -the straw that eventually broke the camel's back was her introduction of the poll tax which caused a nationwide revolt of the masses in this country, she miscalculated so badly on that one that she was eventually forced to resign by her own party! This is a woman who whipped up racial hatred against immigrants in order to gain votes , referring to britain as a place that was becoming unrecognisable due to the large numbers of immigrants that were "swamping" the country. She very conveniently chose to forget that enoch powell a tory govt minister invited west indian workers to come to this country to salvage it from imminent economic collapse and bankruptcy.

stop being a mouthpiece for the tories and other capitalist cronies - as an immigrant black man you are not a beneficiary of any of their economic policies.
