manny4life: What I was referring to was this below

I wanted you to expatiate your claim that austerity measure have been a norm for Africa since the 80s. In addition to that, expand further how austerity measure has been used to economically enslave Africa and how it's "race based" rather than a fiscal policy component.
nigeria experienced rapid economic growth in the 1970s as a result of an increase in oil prices, western banks encouraged nigeria to borrow money in order to undertake various infrastructure projects - nigerians borrowed huge sums from western banks with the beleif that they could pay off the loans with the huge revenue they were making from oil exports, unfortunately oil prices plummeted in the early 1980s and nigeria was left with a huge debt which they couldnt pay off. It was at this point that the IMF stepped in and agreed to loan the nigerian govt money to pay off their creditors provided the IMF would be given free reign over the nigerian economy. The year was 1984 - Buhari was not in agreement with the conditions that the IMF were stipulating so he was promptly overthrown by the CIA and replaced with drug baron and CIA agent Ibrahim Babangida who began the implementation of austerity measures by devaluing the nigerian currency, cutting spending on education and healthcare and creating an environment favourable to foreign investors by allowing them to come in and buy up valuable govt owned assets.

SAP has been played out in almost every black african country and it has resulted in the transfer of the wealth of african countries into the coffers of the western creditor banks or the transfer of the assets of african nations into the hands of foreign owned multinationals with the exception of south africa and Libya. South africa has been shielded from the IMF because it is really a european run country and europeans always look out for and protect their own and Libya was run a true nationalist hero who refused to turn over the wealth of his country to foreign predatory banks.

Black african countries however were targeted by the IMF and the world bank and shackled with the kind of debt that they will never be able to pay off without selling off all of thier natural resources to the same people who got them into the problem in the first place.

If austerity measures are indeed legitimate economic policies why do they create poverty, misery and death wherever they are implemented?

all4naija: @Cap28

Then what about Europe? You seem to be looking back at history and define the contemporary generation with it. Manual jobs are not what we need but more of using the brain to develop the country. The laziness of the brain can afford one the foolishness of being used. Please, spare me the European history and let's face the reality of being hardworking. I hate when few black people are being used to dig the earth, clean the offices and cook in restaurants being used as a yard stick to measure hardworking group of blacks in a country of 80% of them blacks and the remaining 20% whites being the ones who make the development we are seeing over there to happen.
In order to make sense of our present predicament it is imperative that we look back at our history. YOu have failed to look at the root causes of black south africa's problems.

Black south africans lost control of their country not because of their laziness but because they were overpowered and subjugated by the europeans. As a result they were forced off their own lands herded on to reservations and townships and forced to do the hardest and most back breaking work for the europeans who now saw (and still see) south africa as their own country. Manual labour is an important aspect of economic development, without it you can not build an economy, before the industrial revolutions in europe and america black african slaves were one of the world's most valued commodities because of the wealth that they could generate from their raw labour so i think it is wrong of you to simply dismiss manual labour.

yes technological advancement has replaced the need for manual labour but people are still needed to operate machinery and undertake other repetitive tasks on production lines.

by the way nigeria also suffered defeat at the hands of the british and nigeria was run by the british for 60 years under a system quite similar to what obtained in aparthied south africa. If the weather conditions in nigeria had been as favourable as that of south africa the british would have done the exact same thing to nigerians as was the case with black south africans and you would have ended up with very little education and a job as a cook or gardener for a european family - how would you feel if other black africans would have turned around to call you lazy for failing to get an education?

all4naija: I am afraid that you don't know what to be lazy mean. If digging mines, cleaning and cooking by some informal individuals is what hardworking means to you then you are just another black dude who can not see beyond physical strength(maybe they can being doing that to enslave themselves further in their fathers land). All your power lies in your head, dude. I can see the reason why the white people succeeded in enslaving the blacks over there. Dude, you are a looser in this present generation if you continue to carry such mentality.

Then, you would now ask yourself how much digging ,cleaning and cooking jobs are available to more than 80% of the population and use that to understand what working hard means and why South Africans are lazy. Check the university enrollment statistic of blacks to white there.

You are very funny though. The same problem is what's plaguing our Northerners and some Southerners in Nigeria. Nobody wants to work hard but wants to steal.
can you develop a country without the use of manual labour? If manual labour is of no importance to the development of an economy why did the europeans ship over 10 million africans from the coasts of west africa to the carribean, south america and north america to build their economies?

could the europeans have developed south africa without the use of forced african labour in the mines?

could the europeans of north america have developed north america without west african slave labour?

Do you know anything about the history of south africa? i just posted an article about the bantu education act of 1953, i also pasted a quote from one of the architects of white south africa Henrik Verwoerd who said that blacks should be denied the same standard of education as whites because they would not be allowed to use it for anything and you are still talking about university enrollment statistics for blacks in south africa compared to whites - the irony is that you actually see yourself as being better educated than the average black south african but your overall knowledge of important historical events that happened on your own continent is equal to zero.

Here is the reason why many black south africans remain far behind whites in south africa today:

Bantu Education

"In 1953 the government passed the Bantu Education Act, which the people didn't want. We didn't want this bad education for our children. This Bantu Education Act was to make sure that our children only learnt things that would make them good for what the government wanted: to work in the factories and so on; they must not learn properly at school like the white children. Our children were to go to school only three hours a day, two shifts of children every day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so that more children could get a little bit of learning without government having to spend more money. Hawu! It was a terrible thing that act."
Baard and Schreiner, My Spirit is Not Banned, Part 2
The 1953 Bantu Education Act was one of apartheid's most offensively racist laws. It brought African education under control of the government and extended apartheid to black schools. Previously, most African schools were run by missionaries with some state aid. Nelson Mandela and many other political activists had attended mission schools. But Bantu education ended the relative autonomy these schools had enjoyed up to that point. Instead, government funding of black schools became conditional on acceptance of a racially discriminatory curriculum administered by a new Department of Bantu Education. Most mission schools for Africans chose to close rather than promote apartheid in education.

Centralization of schools under a new government department was not in and of itself opposed by school administrators, parents, and students. What the African community vehemently opposed was the creation of a separate and unequal system of black education rather than a single public schooling system for all South Africans. The white government made it clear that Bantu education was designed to teach African learners to be "hewers of wood and drawers of water" for a white-run economy and society, regardless of an individual's abilities and aspirations. In what are now infamous words, Minster of Native Affairs, Dr. Hendrik F. Verwoerd, explained the government's new education policy to the South African Parliament:
There is no space for him [the "Native"] in the European Community above certain forms of labor. For this reason it is of no avail for him to receive training which has its aim in the absorption of the European Community, where he cannot be absorbed. Until now he has been subjected to a school system which drew him away from his community and misled him by showing him the greener pastures of European Society where he is not allowed to graze. (quoted in Kallaway, 92)
The ideological framework for Bantu education had it

all4naija: The obvious truth has been said. So, I'm not going to say anything more than the black South African are lazy except few like my mentor Mandela, and pass revolution fighters.
i dont understand? lazy? who worked in the mines digging out all the gold and diamonds for the europeans?

who cooked, cleaned and did the gardening for the europeans?

Are you aware that during the apartheid regime the blacks were banned from the cities unless they were coming there to work?

Are you aware that they had no access to any education beyond a primary school education courtesy of the bantu education act of 1953?

The Bantu Education Act, 1953 (Act No. 47 of 1953; later renamed the Black Education Act, 1953) was a South African law which codified several aspects of the apartheid system. Its major provision was enforced separation of races in all educational institutions. Even universities were made "tribal", and all but three Missionary schools chose to close down when the government no longer would subsidize their schools. Only Roman Catholics, the Seventh-day Adventists, the Congregationalists (The American Board) & the United Jewish Reform Congregation continued using their own finances to support education for native Africans.[1] In 1959 this type of education was extended to "non white" Universities and Colleges with the Extension of University Education Act, and the internationally prestigious University College of Fort Hare was taken over by the government and degraded to being part of the Bantu education system.[2] It is often argued that the policy of Bantu (African) education was aimed to direct black or non-white youth to the unskilled labor market,[3

Because it was set up as a white settlement by europeans, blacks were to be permanently excluded from reaping any benefits from the wealth of their own country. South africa is for all intents and purposes a white country with a few powerless black puppets in positions of authority. Also america and britain provide south africa with a lot of economic and military support and they are shielded from the predatory activities of the IMF and the World Bank. Europe and america see south africa as their baby and they have continued to protect and assist them since the days of apartheid, america provided the aparthied govt of south africa with technological assistance which enabled them to set up a sophisticated surveillance system to monitor the activities of the ANC, Israel also helped aparthied south africa to develop a nuclear and biological weaponry - this was dismantled when power was handed to the blacks in 1994 because of course whites do not want any black nation to have access to nuclear capability.

Sagamite: You are a person!

And so what if they don't have access to the same quality of education as whites?

Do Asian and Chinese kids normally do?

And for the Asian and Chinese that do, how did they do? By sitting down and screaming racism like your dumb arse?

Why can't blacks develop the access?

Do people like me and my friends have access to top quality pre-uni education? How come we came here and still outshone those that are here and had better facilities than the junk I got in Nigeria?

FOOOOOL!

So why is your dumb arse not saying it is because the white men are having a coven that is why Pakistanis and Bangladeshi are not succeeding? So it is only for the black man you find a lame excuse and start daftly running from your own shadows?

You are a cretin! I work with and have always worked with the Oxbridge and Harvard types, you dumb fuck. Rarely has my boss (direct line of report and hirer) not been Oxbridge. Because your daft arse blames all your failures on racism instead of your own stewpidity, intellectual limitations and incompetence. You think every one is at your level?

person!
Chimptard - i dont blame you - you are half chimp and half human therefore your intellectual scope is severly limited.

Let me let you in on a little secret about how things work over here in the west -physical apperance counts for 80% of your success in the west - thats why dumb whites will always be managers over intelligent blacks, there is a system in place that ensures that as long as you are not a member of the dominant race there is only so far you can go no matter how many phds you have - this is why you have nigerians with phds driving mini cabs and working in old people's homes.

Asians are regarded as honorary whites and have easy access into the white supremacist club - the kind of access fools like you would never be given no matter how subservient you are. besides China and Japan have proven that they are of equal standing with the white man by actually waging war against them and in the case of China fighting them to a standstill in the korean war, as a result the white man respects asians, the Japanese were allowed into the club after the second world war when they subjected the british to a humiliating defeat in malaysia. The only way the Japanese could be stopped from their attempt to challenge european hegemony was by having two atomic bombs dropped on their country by america, this challenge to the european world order earned them respect in the eyes of the white man. AFricans are yet to assert their position in the world order and therefore are not accorded any respect - you need to get this into your thick skull that if you are not a member of a powerful and respected race nobody will treat you with respect.

you say you have outshone those blacks who are here - in what way? being a lap dog? having no self respect? being completely oblivious of the type of people who control your very destiny? Has it not occurred to you that if you were a member of a respected race you wouldnt even need to come here to be an errand boy for a white man, you claim you work with Harvard and Oxbridge types - so? am i supposed to be impressed by that - how many times does he seek your opinion and views on anything? let me guess - NEVER !!! You know why because he probably thinks that your thoughts and opinions count for absolutely nothing.

There is nothing about your grammar or thought processes that indicate to me that you have an iota of intelligence - i am yet to come across a wanna be intellectual with such limited vocabulary - you must be a running joke in your office (if you actually work in one) !!!

ballabriggs: This attempt to pin down the global austerity measures to a racial thing is a total distortion of facts. The truth about austerities is that it is partly an ideological thing. Austerities have been there since the time of the classical economists such as David Ricardo and Adam Smith. This is even before blacks began living in Europe. Today, it is not only England that is implementing austerities, the US, Greece, Spain, Italy and including Nigeria. It is a measure being implemented by countries around the World as advised by the IMF. The argument is that as you cut government spending interest rates drop and thus the cost of capital necessary for investment. This stimulates output in the economy and thus raises income which is necessary for tackling the recession. These are valid points in the argument. Other economists like Keynes from the left would have a different perspective and argument on the issue. I belong to the left and I would tell you that Austerities are not the solution, it does not however mean it has to do with race. Labour would not have gone the way of the Coalition because of their ideological stand point. Labour started with regulation and nationalisation of the banks before they were voted out. For example, banks such as Northern Rock and RBS were nationalised while the government bought up 40% shares in Lloyds TSB which has its parent company in the US.

So my friend stop looking for enemies where there are none. Like I said it makes you a racist. The TUC is a trade union and a stakeholder, one would expect them to hold on to such in pushing their points. It is part of bargaining in trade relationship. I don't form my opinion based on such, I analyse the issue and tell you what I think.
Would you say Nigeria has benefited from the austerity measures that it has been implementing since the 1980s?

Would you say Nigeria's decision to cut spending on education and health care under the direction of babangida has benefitted nigeria and nigerians as a whole.

Have any of those measures stimulated economic growth in Nigeria and if yes have the nigerian masses derived any benefits from this economic growth?

Has the western investment in nigeria, the mass privatisation of govt owned assets in nigeria, have they stimulated nigeria's economy and have these benefits trickled down to ordinary nigerians?

Austerity is actually a new concept as far as european economies are concerned - in the past it was only third world govts that were ordered by the IMF and other western banks to tailor their domestic economies to suit the dictates of the IMF , now european economies are being expected to do the same and their people who are used to a much higher standard of living than an average african are highly intolerant of this plan to reduce them to slaves in their own country.

austerity measures have been the norm for africa since the 1980s - they have been used by europe and america to keep africa economically enslaved, on that basis i would say that austerity is race based and is used as a tool to consolidate the economic dominance of western nations over africa.

If a policy disproportionately affects one race over another then it IS race based albeit indirectly.

Sagamite: person, so because it affects black people means it was aimed at black people?

And what percentage of black youths are uneducated or poorly educated like you compared to other races? I bet the whiteman is having night meetings to discriminate against Pakistanis and Bangladeshis because they are always worse of than Indians. Obviously not because they have a culture of being less educated than Indians, it is the white man that is doing them. grin
Chimptard do blacks have access to the same quality of education and jobs as whites in this country?

Pakistanis and Bangladeshis suffer higher levels of unemployment and discrimination compared to Indians because they do not assimilate into western culture as well as indians do - many of them prefer to live around their own people and dress in their traditional clothing - that is why they face higher levels of unemployment than indians - it has nothing whatsoever to do with having a culture of being "less educated" than indians as you foolishly stated.

how come educated africans do not enjoy the same levels of success as educated indians in this country? indians are visible in many high profile jobs in this country why? because they are seen by whites as being closer in physical appearance to europeans and are therefore accepted more than africans with similar levels of education.

Besides your argument is a very st.upid one - why would you compare blacks who historically have been marginalised and discriminated against to the dominant population who control access to jobs and opportunities?

Chimptard - have you heard of such a thing as indirect discrimination where one group of people are disproportionately affected by a law or rule due to circumstances outside their control?

Are you aware that without access to public sector jobs in this country many blacks would spend years on the dole?

Chimptard are you aware that this current financial crisis was caused by oxbridge and harvard educated snobs who would sooner spit in your face than hire you to work alongside them? why, i ask you should low paid black public sector workers have to carry the can for these champagne swilling coke snorting elitists?

Chimptard - are you aware that these people you defend think people like you belong in the gutter? their only contact with black people is when they go down to brixton to get their weekly stash of charlie so do yourself a favour and close that gaping cavernous hole you call a mouth - the stench it is emitting is stomach churning.

The "boundless" job opportunities for blacks in 2012 UK:

Black and asian workers are almost twice as likely to be out of work as white workers, and public sector spending cuts could see thousands more employees from ethnic minority backgrounds losing their jobs in the coming months, says the TUC today (Friday).
The TUC analysis of the Labour Force Survey coincides with its annual Black Workers' Conference which opens this afternoon. The figures show that the unemployment rate for black and asian workers increased from 10.2 per cent in October-December 2007 to 13 per cent in the same quarter last year (a figure almost twice as high as the 7.1 per cent unemployment rate for white individuals).
The research reveals an even bleaker picture for young people from ethnic minority backgrounds, with the unemployment rate for 18-24 year-olds leaping from 20.1 per cent in 2007 to 30.5 per cent in 2010. In contrast, the unemployment rate for white youngsters stands at 16.4 per cent.
And while there are still more black young men out of work that women - at the end of 2010 there were almost 63,000 young males without jobs compared to just over 53,000 young women - the rate of increase in unemployment over the three years since 2007 has been a shocking 68 per cent for young black women, with a 24 per cent increase for men.
The figures also show that around 640,000 black and Asian people work in the public sector, so significant cuts to public spending will only make the situation worse, says the TUC. It estimates that public sector job cuts of around 20 per cent would be likely to put around another 127,000 black workers on the dole.

ballabriggs: That is Abott's opinion. Was VAT also raised because it would affect the minorities? Was it also the reason for increasing fuel taxes. The truth Britain is implementing austerities and one would naturally expect such policies of government cuts. Is it the same reasion pensions are increasingly being cut? How many black people are part of the older population. I don't need Abott to form an opinion over an issue, I form my opinion from analysing issues. Like I said stop seeing enemies, it makes you more racist than those you accuse of racism.

My friend was a law graduate at Cambridge who could not get a job. She is white and not black. She ended up being a temp at a law firm in Southampton. Go to ASDA and TESCO, you would see loads of graduates working in stores as apprentices whilst also claiming employment support allowance.
Abbott represents a predominantly black constituency and therefore her job is look out for the interests of her constituents, britain is implementing austerity measures which were caused by the corrupt banking practices of the city of london not by public sector workers who are already on very low pay. why should black public sector workers who are probably the lowest paid workers in this country be forced to bear the brunt of the incompetence and greed caused by investment bankers on 6 figure salaries? why werent any of the banks which caused this financial meltdown which has now led to these austerity measures been penalised for the mayhem that they caused?

I couldnt care less if your friend who graduated from cambridge is unemployed or not the bottom line is she will ulitmately always be in a better position than any black person out there by virtue of the colour of her skin. besides many whites can fall back on their parents who have already paid off their mortgages, many others also inherit money from their grandparents so they have many alternative ways to ride this current economic storm, if everything else fails they can relocate to south africa, canada, australia or new zealand where they will get jobs very easily - can you boast of being able to do the same?

frosbel: Here comes the racist cap28 , hater of the white man grin grin
Do you even understand the meaning of the word racist? perhaps it might be a good idea to take time out to consult a dictionary for a change before you open your mouth.

Racism is a beleif in the superiority of one race over another - racism has nothing to do with personal dislike, having said that i do not even personally dislike whites, i just hate the way they treat black people.

whites are racist because they beleive that they must always be in charge of blacks and other non white races, they treat black people like inferiors and talk down to us, i dont appreciate that but clearly you have no problem with it becasue you have no self respect.

Stating the truth about white people does not equate to racism - but i can see you are too s.tupid to understand this simple point.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Is England More Developed And Stable Than America? by cap28: 3:34pm On May 27, 2012
ballabriggs: That is one persons opinion. The truth is minorities are increasingly being protected. I know black people in different sectors of the British Society doing pretty well. So quit the racist card. Some of the banter I exchange with my white friends today, years ago I would have seen it as racist. However, with more interaction and understanding you see that no malice was intended. In addition, understand that most racists are low lives. Those guys you see in the BNP have nothing up there. So why get bothered when someone you are bigger than makes a racial slur at you?
So why did labour MP Dianne Abbott criticise the latest govt cuts in public sector jobs predicting (correctly) that they would disproportionately affect blacks who make up the bulk of public sector workers?

why is youth unemployment amongst young black people here in the UK currently running at 44%?

The BNP are not the people you need to be afraid of - they are useful id.iots used by the govt to stir up racial violence - the real racists are the well spoken, smiling oxbridge and eton educated millionaires who have the power to enact laws which can leave blacks jobless and homeless, these are the same people who are also in africa selling arms to your govts - remember David Cameron's trip to Nigeria recently - what do you think he wen tthere to do?

The real racists are the ones with the power and influence to actually destroy your life.

ballabriggs: What is falsehood? About the UK corporate governance code or the equality and diversity laws? The truth is because you cannot get a job does not mean it is because you are black. I know a lot of white boys out there who have finished UNI for two years now without a proper job in the UK. There is a depression and there is a more intense competition for opportunities. Black people must go out there and compete and stop whining.
Its called window dressing and public relations - something the europeans have mastered to a tee, thats why they perpetually run rings around trusting and dull witted africans who take everyone on face value rather than judging a man by his actions. Most of the equalities and diversity legislation is very difficult to enforce, whites always close ranks against outsiders - particularly black outsiders as they feel you should be grateful for being allowed to even work alongside them in the first place.

The white boys you talk about are out of work not becuase they cant find jobs but because they cant find the type of jobs THEY WANT TO DO ie jobs that pay a hell of a lot of money for doing f.u.ck all - beleive it or not despite this ongoing recession many whites are still pickign and chosing jobs the only people who are scrabbling around are blacks, remember we are the last hired and the first fired irrespective of your qualifications. Even highly skilled blacks get offers only after no capable white can be found to fill that position - you can take it or leave it - stop thinking that you are in the same boat as them - you never have been, they didnt take over the control of africa's resources for you to become their equal! until a black superpower arises and can stand shoulder to shoulder with america, britain, germany, japan and china, blacks the world over will always be treated with contempt by other races.

ballabriggs: There is this erroneous impression that because you are black everybody is out there to discriminate against you in these societies. Of course there are people who discriminate, however they are in the minority. If you understand the British society, you would understand it is a society that continues to protect ethnic minorities. For example, there are equality and diversity laws that ensure ethnic minorities are also considered for employment in organisations. Corporate bodies are mandated to present annual reports to the Equality commission on how much they have complied with this law. There are stiff penalties for non-compliance. On my first job in the UK, I was the only black person in the team. It was thus not difficult to tell that I got the job because of my race. The lesson here is that while you can be discriminated against because of your colour, you can also gain advantage because of your colour. In addition, at the strategic level of organisations, the UK corporate governance code has board diversity as one of the principles which regulatory bodies advise as to what constitutes a sound governance system in an organisation. Companies are required to comply or explain the reason for non-compliance. There are however penalties for consistent noncompliance. One can thus see that Companies would be required to build people from the operational level to ultimately become Directors in these organisations. A lot of black people who have not made any attempt to improve themselves yell "racism". One thing is certain not everyone is racist and not everyone is out there to discriminate against you. I urge black people to leave those environments dominated by ethnic minorities. These environments make you see enemies both within and outside whilst closing your eye to opportunities around you.
Is that right ? Perhaps you know something Lord McPherson (of the Stephen Laurence Inquiry who labelled British society as institutionally racist) doesnt ? Why did it take the british criminal "justice" system 20 years to convict only two of Stephen Laurence's four racist killers?

The truth of the matter is that blacks in the US and the UK are both catching hell as they are not in control of their economic or political destiny and are merely at the mercy of the white establishment who run and control the world.

Ironically blacks in nigeria are in an even worse predicament as their leaders are working on behalf of their white masters to keep the masses poor, ignorant and impoverished. Every where in the world that black people live we are being shafted so i think it is a complete and utter waste of time to even compare living standards or life expeeriences of blacks in the US and blacks in the UK. African americans constitute the largest number of middle class black people in the western world but do they have any economic or political power? A working class white american is still in a much more advantageous position than a middle class black american because the white american has a whole system known as white supremacy behind him to back and support him at every turn, what has the black man got? Even in areas with a high presence of blacks like sports and entertainment the white man is still calling the shots because he owns the record labels, the basket ball and base ball teams, the football clubs etc when you look at africa the powerlessness of blacks becomes even more glaring - no african country (apart from zimbabwe who fought back - and they were punished for that ) has free reign to decide their own economic destiny - South africa is a country owned and controlled by whites with black figure heads in positions of authority (just like the rest of africa)

To Beaf who said many blacks in the UK suffer from mental illnesses - how about the millions of nigerians in nigeria who seek solace in those crack pot churches run by those megalomaniac charlatans aka pastors? would you not call someone who patronises those kind of churches mentally ill? Many nigerians know that the root cause of their misery and poverty are their leaders but they prefer to bury their heads int he sand and seek answers from these insane asylums where they spend the better part of their sundays writhing around on the floor and speaking in tongues - if thats not insanity i dont know what is. The irony is that the very people who brought you this religion do not even practice it with such dedication in their own country - walk into any church in the UK on a sunday and the only people you will find there are -yes you guessed it, black people and a few old white people - many europeans dont even believe in God.

9jafreak: Is D'banj An Illuminati? (*The Truth*)

1. First things first: The American Corporatocracy do not give a monkeys about any African artist/artiste. Their job is to elevate their preferred American/British/Canadian freakshow masters with the double intention of:
(i) dumbing down the Public (in both America and the world)
and (ii)luring them (the said Public) into the mythical promise of the 'Good Life' --- a rare privilege meant for the chosen, the opportuned and the super-geniuses of society. That way, we will all be unconscious of (or oblivious to) the actual machinations beneath this reality.

2. Now since Africans are notorious for imitating anything American, the American Establishment only need to keep the illusion alive on home soil. The wannabees will naturally buy into it (as is now evident everywhere).

3. Besides, the Corporatocracy already got African governments in their pouch, why should they worry about an ordinary African celebrity? Yes, we all are ordinary to them. What greater benefit can any of us bring than a land flowing with natural resources which they already have under corporate control?!
Our entire country is indebted to them. They wrote our nation's history, dictate her present and control her future (what more could one ask for?)

*****

4.However, with D'banj, something appears to have changed. A new opportunity presents itself --- as always, in the form of "profit". Koko Master D'banj, living up to his reputation as an opportunist with the brain of a 12 year old, invited the emissaries of Africa's slave masters to come in for more spoils.
He might be stupid but he also knows that there is an unlimited supply of stupidity and gullubility on the African continent
(stupidity and gullibility bolstered in many ways by religious fanaticism, poor education, and a terrifying inability to connect the dots).

5. Perhaps Don Jazzy understands this and therefore decided not to "further sell his soul" for bigger fame and servitude (which, all things being equal, should also lead to more fortunes for the favoured).
Although Don Jazzy's own moral test will come when we finally assess how much of his wealth he gave to the poor. He might be a 'better sinner' than D'banj, but he is no saint.

6. To be sure, D'banj is NOT illuminati. Neither is Kanye, Bieber, Kirk Franklin, Rhianna, Mary Mary or any of the other agents. They are simply "the chosen ones".
The criteria for chosenness differs: from extraordinary talent to sheer stupidity. Visionary is out of the question (How can you see above your head?) The illusion of vision is that it is ahead, but really it's in 'THE HEAD'. It's the head that dictates the vision, hence the conspiracy. But it is no more a conspiracy than it is an IDEOLOGY. A belief. A creed. And a Promise for all who care. And the expectation is that you should.

Thus what all the agents have in common is BIG AMBITION, a RESENTMENT for correction and moral guidance and a firm REJECTION of the NORM.
And D'banj has got plenty of these.

** The Okoye brothers (PSQUARE) have also decided to push their luck further north in response to the widening excesses and excessive haste, as is Banky W, Wizkid, Davido, Sarkodie, and many others.

Africa is at a melting point again, and the reason why it is too easy is because you can always count on the gullibility of the African Public.
I agree wth most of this - d banj is kanye west`s africam pawn - he is being ussed by kanye to make money frm gullible afrcn consumers - dbanj = talentless greedy former area boy wth zero intelligence, have u listened to him speak? The guy is an unadulterated illiterate

Then we became independent but still tied to the west until they betrayed us in Angola. So yes i am African this is my home i know of no other.

It is people like you that Nigeria is so far behind. You have the ability to become a great nation but your hate of the white people and each other is holding you back. Nigeria will never Advance if your mind set stay like this. It is all about the money a group people gained the lands back in south africa it was in a Rich area and they where before this simple farmers so what did they do. They built a hotel and apartments there. They don't live there but that land will provide for them and there children. You would have had them evict all the whit people there and then starve. Yes who cares if you die at least you can die your land is what you want to tell the people.

you are fool who would destroy Africa for things done before your time. you should move on

rhymz: Your argument is sentimental and just like the rest making thesame arguments as you, you lot are all detached from the realities of what's actually obtainable in Nigeria's working environment.
I have worked in production factories both as an Undergraduate and as a graduate and I am telling you guys that Walmart working conditions and payment structures both to her full time staff, contractor staff and casual workers can never be any worse than what is obtainable in these production factories owned by Lebanese, Chinese, Indians and even fellow Nigerians. That is a fact!!!
You keep talking about their motives being that of profit making like it is supposed to be something different, incase you guys have forgotten, Walmart just like every other multinational business entity is set up to make profit first before any other thing, it is left to the government to create laws that will not allow them exploit her citizens unfairly, laws that spell out what is allowed and what is not allowed. Laws that make it compulsory for local investors to buy into the company after an agreed number of years of estiblishing in the country, I understand in RSA there is a law that forces every multinational to make available about 10% of her shares to black investors, Laws that emphasize local content of at least 50%-60%.
It is sheer recklessness and a demonstrated inability to understand, cope and negotiate with the demands of the teething troubles associated with attracting Multinationals the size of Walmart. I mean why throw away the baby and the bath water? Let them come in! Besides, that sector needs to be stimulated by the likes of Walmart. There is a lot to be gained that outweighs whatever problems you people are envisaging. Walmart will never close down our traditional markets or street corner shops, Emeka and Ebeano supermarkets will continue to sell even in the face of giants like Walmarts, all they need to do is think out of the box to compete. Like I have said in my previous post, our buying attitude and culture is very different from that of the west or even RSA. An average Nigerian will rather buy a packet St louis Sugar from a local store whose price is slightly higher than
the likes of walmart and shoprite because to him, it will look rather degrading that the only reason he went through the hassle of going into a walmart or shoprite supermarket was to get just a packet of St loius sugar. The way Nigerians buy their groceries is extremely "retailed" and diffferent that it has to be from these local stores and market they buy from and not Uncle Walmart. I doubt if walmart will sell 3 cubes of sugar for #5 or a bag of Lipton Tea for #5.
People have to be strategic in the way they look at the issues here. Nigeria needs the likes of Walmart for so many reasons. They will bring in the technical -know-how that is needed to run departmental stores, they will stimulate competition and help reduce prices of goods and services and increase our options. They will employ both professionals, semi-professionals, secondary school leavers, drop outs, unskilled people all in large numbers like our factories do. They will create more sophisticated small businesses in place of the unsophisticated ones they kill. Local farmers and production factories will have a ready buyer in the likes of walmart. At least our own local supermarkets will learn how to go straight to the production factories to negotiate prices of their goods, our own local entrepreneurs will use the opportunity to set up more food and commodity factories as there is already a market for them. They will bring back our already dead middle class and bridge the gap. The success of walmart will bring in more of the likes of Walmart and gradually reorganize our markets and make them more profitable.
There is so much you and caps are not considering here.
So basically ur argument goes like this -we r already being xploited by our own businesses so we might as well allow foreignrs to come in and take it to anothr level! One thing u hve failed to undrstand is tht walmart is richer than some soverign afrcn cntries its yearly profits r in the region of four hundrd billion dollrs per annum it is more powerful thn most africn cntries therefor the idea tht those igbo traders and othr domestic businesses wil be able to compete wth them on an equal footing is quite frankly the joke of the century no indigenous nigerian food busines cn compete wth them all they hve to do is to keep undercuttng local retailrs by sellng their stuff at rock bottom prices whch is wht they do anyway and evry single nigerian food retailr will be out of business before the year runs out ,whch nigerian consumr will patronise a store whose goods r pricier jst because its ownd by nigerians? Wth all the povrty and suffrng in nigeria evryone will be lkg for a bargain -tin the short term this might look like a good deal for nigerian consumrs but it will come at a vry heavy price -a local 0businneses will shut down because they cnt compete and unemploymnt will go up walmart will then push salaries down knwg tht they cn pick and chhoose workrs , wkg conditions will then get worse because walmart will xploit the desperation of nigerians, one of the tactics they use regularly on theirpamericn workrs is to cut ur wrkg hours but incresae ur workload its a win win for them - they pay u half of ur normal wage but make u do double the work -do u see why they r so rich? And yet many ppl on here who r likely to be on the receivng end of all this r defending a corporation who is out to use and abuse them- we urgntly need to re educate nigerians because many of us r super ignrnt

soloqy: Shopright is cheap cheaper than most supermarkets around yet they have not run anyone out of business. You people underestimate the huge market that is called Nigeria. The same market that the few mama iyabo and nna-uche supermarkets have been exploiting with huge profit margins on goods(yes I said it).

Secondly, its you and others that have said that Walmart pays people 5-9 dollars an hour. If you use 7 dollars as the mark, thats about 1100 per hour at the going exchange rate multiplied by the typical 9-4 shift which is 7hours. And we are talking of about N7,500 for a day, no? Calculate what that yields in a month. Graduates are working at Shopright because they know what the gains are and the flexible working time.

Do you know what the minimum wage in Nigera is? Its 18,000 for a full month and most states are struggling with it. I see that the people opposed to this move are mostly people living abroad and some who dont quite get it. Thats to show how removed from the reality of issues on ground most people are. You are talking about court actions and stuff against Walmart abroad but who doesnt have them? As long as you are a huge institution that affects people in some way, you are going to have that.

All the major Telcos in Naija are curently paying a fine by NCC due to the complaints by Nigerians. The oil companies all over the world and including Naija, face court actions and probes everyday.
Why would someone just come and say Okonjo Iweala wants to just kill you? Do you know how preposterous that sounds?
So u actiually think walmart will pay nigerian workrs the same hourly rate tht they pay their workrs in america? What wld be the point of settng up their business in nigeria if they hve to pay the same wages to nigerian staff, the whole idea behind them cmg to nigeria is to make ten times the profit they make in america

From your posts, all i see is issues with Obasanjo, Ngozi etc etc.

Ola one: So, what is the root of this hydra-headed problem? Walmart or Western imperialism? Your main beef about Walmart is that the company pays 'starvation wages.' In a country where graduates are roaming the streets with no work let alone a gainful one?

So, they use child labourers in China? And, what are we using at present in Naija? Surely, it is worse than child labour. So, what exactly do you proffer as the way out? Let me in on it, please. I simply can't fathom this.

In a country where ordinary India men behave like kings yet you guys are saying no to an American company? In a country where teachers and other civil servants are being owed salaries? At least Walmart would pay wages promptly.

If what Walmart offers is 'starvation wages', then nothing less than 85 per cent of Nigerian workers are already in that bracket
The only way out is to get rid of the ppl who r creating an envirnmt whch is alowng foreignrs to come in and turn us into slaves in our own land - okonjo iweala will make sure tht evry valuable asset or piece of land will be owmed by eithr her and her cronies or foreignrs, she is merely continuing wth the disastrous privatisation projects tht obasanjo started I can not begin to stress the urgency of the situation the longr we leave things the more enslaved we bcome

Ola one: Well, if they pulled the aforementioned off in China and other countries where they operate why not Naija? Even the UK now offers something similar if you are ready to come in with massive investments.

I guess you all want only the Chevrons of this world in Naija? Even with zero amenities?

Walmart in Naija? You guys should applaud the move. In fact, their entry deserves a national knees-up.

I tell ya.
There is no way in hell the chinese wld tolerate such brazen xploitation- the deal btwn the chinese and the americns is much more equal -the americns use chinese slave labour and the chinese get technological know how in xchange unlike nigeria china manufactures the walmart products-nigeria is just a dumping grd where the goods r sold and where cheap labour is used to run the shops.
Business › Re: Walmart Nigeria: Good Or Bad Idea? (Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala) by cap28:
Ola one: Isn't this counter-intuitive? Starvation wages or no wages? Which do you prefer?

LOL at Nigerians saying no to a company that is good enough to operate in the US and China where labour laws are potent enough. I mean a country that can not even guarantee its populace 5 hours/day uninterrupted power supply? Is that how loving of your country you are? Is this how to be protective of your country from exploitation? By being unable to run anything on your own?

A country with abundant crude oil deposit but blessed with incompetent and deficient people to the extent that they import crude oil products? A country where everybody lives and reasons like deficient men on Zimmer frame?

They have nothing yet they are saying no to something.

Most of the guys saying NO here live abroad. They are ready to say no here but they will walk into Walmart/Tesco later in the evening for their weekly hunt for Walmart/Tesco grocery bargains. Funny people
I stated in an earlier post tht walmart is facing one of americas biggst class action lawsuits and ur still singing their praises, china uses child labourers to make walmart products and ur still singing their praises wen will it dawn on u tht the same fate awaits afrcn workrs? R u sayng its bettr to work for a foreign corporation on starvation wages rathr thn get rid of the root of the prblm ?
