Daz york u are totally on point- all resource rich afrcn cntries tht r still doing business wth china hve been earmarked for destabilisation by the us- qadaffi had thousands of chinese workrs carrying out various infrastrcture prjcts before the war- wen the war startd they were frcd to abandn those prjcts wen evrythg kickd off, if u read a book by zbigniew brezinski entitled the grand chess board (obama's current adviser on foreign affairs )he actually sets out america's plan for future world domination, he talks abt fomenting clashes in resource rich regions in order to make them more vulnerable easier to exploit,as u cn see they hvve already acchvvd their goal wth libya whch has the largst oil resrves in afrca, nxt stop will be numbr 2 wch is nigreia -nigria is still doing a lot of trade wth china, and aftr tht possbly angola. As u knw they hve already deployed us troops to the ugandan border undr the pretxt of lkg for the war lord joseph kony

Wen the late great chukwuma nzeogwu decided to sanitise nigeria of the first batch of criminals the nigerian elite cunningly turned it into an igbo vs northerner situation wen in reality it was an attempt to cleanse nigeria of a grp of rotten criminals- since nzeogwu was stopped in his tracks by the nigerian ruling classes the cancer has been allowed to spread and mutate into smthg more monstrous than anyone wld evr imagine. Today we r faced with a situation where the likes of james ibori cn loot the treasuries of their constituents to their hearts content and then stick two fingrs uup to the impoverishd nigerian masses knwng full well tht no one will touch him, thankfully he made the catastrophic decision of leavng the lawless cesspit aka nigeria only to fall into a vry big trap set up for him by the british govt. Sadly this theif's incarceration will nt deter othrs , it will only make them more cautious.we need a revolution in nigeria.

shymmex: He's going to spend 4yrs in the bin. Can anyone tell me the prison he's gonna spend his time? I'm guess it's gonna be either Brixton, or Wandsworth... Damn! This guy is going to live on chips, halal, slice bread, and baked beans - and I hope he's gonna be in a shared prison.

To those thinking UK prison is a joke, you guys have lost your damn minds. 23hrs lock down is NO joke, it's gonna mess you up mentally. Do you know how many guys commit suicide in there yearly?? The only way he won't feel the time that much is if he can get a job in there... Ibori is definitely gonna get moved to if he spends his time in a London prison; I know the naija mandem in there won't show him any love, and he's gonna get robbed everyday..
Plse god let it be brixton! Although I've heard wandsworth is full of sycopaths, bt this punk needs to gt gang r.aped!

Nebeuwa: Enough with your tripe. That is your argument for everything from what I have seen from your post. I understand you are Afrocentric, but your views are way too extreme.

And if you want to argue from an economic point of view, Ms. Okonjo-Iweala was correct to push for the oil subsidy removal. I do not understand why Nigerians were so upset doing that saga. It made economic sense, but I feel it would have taken ages to explain the wisdom about ending the oil subsidy.

Private corporations work better than government ran corporations. I would hope you realize that by now. Governments are not efficient in running a business and should only play a part in regulating industries.
My views r xtreme to u because u r intellectually comatose. Does it make sense to u tht millions of already impoverishd nigerians shld be pushed further into poverty wen this woman and her cronies live in extreme luxury, does it mke sense tht nigerian senators r paid more thn american senators for doing absolutely nthg? Does it make sense tht oknjo and her cronies steal millions of naira in public funds and thn tell the ordinary nigerian tht they cnt afford to pay a mere 18 thousnd naira mminimum wage? Nigerians r the only pple I knw of in the world who welcome abuse and oppression, since this so called subsidy was removed hve they delivered on all those empty promises they made to u? U deserve wht is cmg because ur daft and retarded, these pple dnt care abt u ,am I gttng thru to u? They jst come up wth diffrnt xcuses each time they need to plungr u furthr and furthr into povrty, they will nevr improve ur std of livng because they r obliged to honour the imf condtions tht they signed up to, sanusi has evn warned tht fuel prices r set to go up again and okonjo also warned tht electricity tarriffs will also go up, these r all in line wth wht imf instructed them to do, all tht garbage they r telling u abt infrastruccture projcts is a pack of lies -it will nvr happn. The privatisation fiasco undr obasanjo was a cmplete joke almost 9o% of those privatised companies r now bankrupt and most of them were sold to obasanjo and his friends - u bettr wake up and undrstnd tht u cn no longr afford to be carry on being ignrnt

Nebeuwa: The old duopoly of IMF for Europe and WB for US continues for 5 years.

I am still proud of Ms. Okonjo-Iweala. It is not everyday that you hear of a black person, let alone a black woman be discussed as a possible head of an international financial institution.
The only time u will evr hear of a blck persons name mentiond iss wen the westrn powers intend to use them to destroy their own pple -the americns hve used obama to invvadelibya and they r still usng oknjo iweala to trnsfr all of nigerias wealth ovr to their banks and multinatnls, they also used obasanjo to privatise aevry valuable asset so tht it cld be sold back to foreign investors for pennies, keep supportng this woman who is diggng ur collective graves

Greedy -she awarded a fifty million dollr cntrct to her brothr who had been languishng away in america doing nthg, she also recvd a cut frm tht debt forgiveness scam she did wth obasanjo

Incompetent -transfrd billions of nigerias foreign reserves to a grp of european banking gangsters

shymmex: That's the problem with you guys - with your "US AGAINST THEM" mentality - yet you wonder why a lot of Nigerians don't like you guys.

Let me ask you a couple of questions and I need honest answers...

Whose brainchild was the debt payment??

Who claimed the pseudo-glory after it was paid?

Whose brainchild was the fuel subsidy removal?

Keep living in denial, Afam. You need to broaden your horizon - and stop viewing everything from the tribal mantra. Even cap28 and Igbo2011 - who're unrepentantly Igbos share the same sentiments...
.
Hey bro ur one hundred percent spot on with ur comments abt traitor and sell out okonjo iweala bt u see 99% of nigerians do nt read useful bks tht will help them undrstnd the wrld they r livg in thts why at the mere mention of okonjo iweala harvard and world bank they start bowing and scraping like a bunch of brainless fools - josef stiglitz a renowned americn economist described the world bank and imf as being full of half baked econmists why wld he say that? Have any of these pathetic sycophnts who keep singing her praises stopped to ask themselvs wht her achvmnts hve been for nigeria since she was imposed on us by america- as u correctly pointed out her along wth obasanjo facilitated the biggst trnsfr of wealth frm a third world cntry into the coffers of a grp of internatnl criminal banks all in the name of settlng a debt whch had already been paid ovr and ovr, this is why wen these banks tried the same scam on buhari he demanded a moratorium and a subseqnt cancelltn bt this incompetent fool of a woman along wth equally hopeless obasanjo agreed to pay a whopping $12 billion before the ridiclous negotiatns evn starte! And this is the woman sum nigerians r busy worshippng! Wht r her achvmnts? Let me hear u say jackshit! Unless u call lowering the already abysmal std of lvg of nigerians an achvmnt. Nigerians r going to find out the hard way tht this woman is nthg more thn an enforcer for washingtn and london, like the dutiful slave tht she is she will reduce nigerians to the kind of poverty tht will leave them wth no choice bt to revolt-this not the end she still has more goodies in store for all of u. The nigerian elite knw tht most nigerians r daft so usually wen they wnt to implement these draconian policies they play different tribes off against each in oder to divrt attention away frm the misery they are imposing on their own pple. Bros keep spkg the truth we r nt all fools.

Just to add to koruji's statemnt abt gbagbo and mugabe. France invaded ivory coast nt becos gbagbo refsd to leave powr bt because he was threatening france's cntrl ovr ivory coasts currency and natural resources, former french presdnt francois mitterand said without the parisitic relatnshp btwn parasite france and host frankofone cntries france`s ecnmy wld collapse, gbagbo was abt to put a stop to this and his plan was to sign up to the new afrcn centrl bank tht qadaffi was abt to launch wch wld hve enabed frncofone and othr afrn countries borrow loans at vlow interest rates thereby puttng the imf and world bank out of busness permanently in afrca-this is0 why qadaffi is dead and gbagbo is stndg trial in tht kangaroo crt icc tht only tries non whites bt allows biggr crmnls like bush cheney and blair to gt away literally wth mass murder. If america is against mugabe cos of his long tenure in office ,why r they still arming an d fundng museveni of uganda? How abt the late omar bongo who spent42 yrs in office bckd byy france? koruji: Did you miss my first statement about her role in the subsidy saga?

I am well aware of the damaging influence of the WB, but. . . But the WB influence is made possible by leaders who, behaving like there is nothing between their ears, go cap in hand to ask the WB what to do about their economies. I don't like the way the WB administers its grants - but we can use those grants, if we only know what to obtain it for and how to manage it properly. As it stands now, there is a small elite (made up of classmates from prestigious "capitalist" American universities e.g. MIT) within each nation cornering the grants that come down from the WB. There is a good size of WB made millionaires in these countries. In turn, they give the WB elite the free hand to dictate policies to them, which they go around implementing like slaves.

Great example is the recent subsidy saga and the statement by President GEJ that he was going to invite WB staff into Aso Rock to vet national projects!!!!! To distort Shakespeare: "The fault, dear cap28 is not with the WB, it is in ourselves". grin grin

It is perhaps another reason, though less noble, to support Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala. It gets her out of the Finance Minister's seat. Let's get somebody who is less tied to unfettered and dangerous market policies in the seat, and let the WB have their former MD back as president. The WB is not about to change its policy outlook. If the other candidate is imposed on their system, he is likely to be frustrated out in a couple of years - unless his backers are prepared to take on the entrenched/career WB elite that really run things.
I am afraid u hve no undrstndg as to hw nigeria and many othr afrn countries gt entangld wth the imf/world bank. First of all one of the reasns tht nigeria ended up in debt was because we relied on bad econ advice frm these same intrntnl banks tht r callng for their pound of flesh,at the height of the oil boom they encrgd us to borrow frm them and use the money to import more of their prodcts, this wasn't an issue at tht time because oil prices were high and the intrest rates were low, evrythg went pear shaped hwvr wen the price of oil fell mkg it vry diffclt for us to keep up wth debt repaymnts,as if tht wasn't bad enough these same westrn bnks hiked up their intrst rates to such a lvl tht it bcame impossbl for us to keep up the repaymnts ,this is where the imf/wrld bank stepped in and said ok we`ll loan u money to clear y0ur debts if u hand ovr full econ cntrl of ur ecnmy to us -we will devalue ur currncy, cut spendng on eductn, healthcare and use the recoupd savngs to pay off the debt u owe our banks, and we said we r more thn hppy aftr all we wnt be affectd by the mass poverty tht will ensue frm this. And tht in a nutshell hw we gt into this mess, and bfore u tell me tht we didn't hve to accpt the offer frm the imf,I cn tell tht in 1984 buhari tld the imf to eff off ,his ecnmc team advsd hm against tkg on imf because they were. Well aware of the implictns,bt guess. Wht he was overthrwn by the cia and replcd wth drug baron ibb who is a cia asset and thhe rest as they is history, u pple dnt evn undrstnd jst hw deadly the us and european gvts are,if u dnt tow the line u end up hvng ur cntry reduced to ashes(libya, iraq) invaded (ivory coast)or turned into a permanent warzone(somalia)

wesley80: ^^ Iweala goes out, Ezekwesili becomes the hands on favoorite to come in. The latters leanings are not as clear cut as Iwealas but I do not expect any radical change and also do not think the occupier of the position would really matter as the nations economic policies have already been designed in favour of free markets and would require serious re-engineering by someone with not only the unflinching desire but completely deaf also as any such move wld be met by a barrage of criticisms locally and internationally. The only person I can see achieving that wld have to be someone with a good enough international repute that can look straight into the eyes of the IMF chiefs and tell them to get lost and widespread local support across all zones to withstand the inevitable local criticisms but unfortunately I can't think of anyone that fits. Ezekwesili wouldav been perfect but an ex IMF chief isn't my idea of "radical change".
Any one who succeeds okonjo iweala would hve been screened by the us and britain first okonjo iweala was appointed to the postn of finance minister by the us govt not by goodluck jonathan , the nigerian govt has no say in nigeria`s econmc policy it jst implements instrctnss

koruji: I just watched a couple of Mrs. Okonjoiweala's media interview on her contest to be the WB President http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/apps/cvp/3.0/swf/cnn_416x234_embed.swf?context=embed&videoId=business/2012/03/28/qmb-intv-nigerian-finance-min-wants-to-lead-world-bank.cnn. I am still unhappy at her about the subsidy-removal saga - but that is the kind of the thing the WB does, so she fits perfectly as their president. More importantly, I support her WB presidency because:

1. It projects a different and great image for Nigeria that can help in a little (and I emphasize only a little) way with the bad reputation that successive governments have created for her.
2. She projects a different image for African women. Note my caveat below, but if there is one thing the rest of Nigeria can learn from Igbos, it is the "substantial" liberalization of their women.
3. She has what it takes to navigate the deep waters by which the West "rules" the world. Her respones to tricky "media" questions shows that clearly.

I hope that if she gets the position, she will tone down the unworkable "market" policies often mouthed as the solution to African problems - e.g. the recent subsidy-removal fiasco.

Going by the Willy-Willys of NL, I might live to regret this, because as sure as there is day and night if she wins they will come here to trumpet "Igbo" superiority over all tribes of Nigeria and the world. But who gives an F.
This is why I say nigerians r the most ignornt set of human beings on the planet - r u aware of the kind of human suffering and misery this organisation has wreaked in the third world? Do u see mass unemploymnt, poverty, destitution and genocide as achvmnts becos all of these r the end results of countries who hve signed up to the genocidal econ policies of the world bank,by supprtng this world bank puppets bid for the presidency of this demonic institution u r endorsing the genocidal neo liberal policies tht she0 is currntly implementng in nigeria undr instrcns frm her masters in washingtn cnt u pple undrstnd tht this organistn is sentencing u and future generations to endless poverty and near starvatio?
