PoliticsRe: Senate Under Fire For Disobeying Court Order In Suspension Of Senator Natasha by CaptainGo: 5:22pm On Mar 07, 2025
Omoawoke:
Useless court order

You misbehaved with gross misconduct, then went to get a dumb court order to suspend investigation being conducted by senate committee? Does that even make sense? The judge that gave that court order should be sanctioned.

In a ruling delivered on the 4th of March, 2025, the court, inter alia, granted “an interim order restraining the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct from proceeding with any investigation against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan concerning the alleged misconduct arising from the events that occurred during the Senate plenary on 20th February, 2025.”.

I know many people don’t have sense in this country and are rather too emotional and sentimental rather than being rational…. Look at the court order, does it make sense??
cheesy
Na so dem dey o! Very anyhow human beings.
All emotions, no logic. They cannot think for themselves.
Once they are against a person, nothing the person ever does will be right in their eyes.

The judge that granted that interim order should be disciplined.

Now I understand why the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. appeared emotional when Zelensky was having a tense back-and-forth with the President in the Oval Office. The US support is fading daily, this fallout is monumental, and at this ‘find out’ stage, Zelensky’s political survival is highly uncertain.
Oga, why you put Elon for middle of the picture na? Is he the president? cheesy

Hopefully, the issue won't get any worse than it is now.
And of course, worse case scenario, other countries will willingly accept the affected Ukrainians. But it's unlikely things would degenerate to that level.
PoliticsRe: The 27 Members Of Rivers Assembly Are Not APC Members - Supreme Court by CaptainGo: 6:46pm On Mar 05, 2025
SendoSendal:
The Supreme Court judges made brilliant submissions

1. Fubara already demolished the Assembly Complex. From that point onward, there were no valid sittings

2. Since you cannot build something on nothing, all the defection stories thus became DEAD on arrival

3. The killer punch was that their names were not in the register of the APC.

I said all these in my last article. FUBARA is back to ground Zero. From this point onward, he needs to find a cleverer way to navigate his political journey.
Based on Number 1, is the HOA the building or the elected legislators?

But if you go to any embassy and present an affidavit sworn in a court of competent jurisdiction, claiming to the embassy that you are a Spaniard when you are actually a Nigerian, you will be arrested and imprisoned instantly for forgery or falsification.
Did they 27 HOA members swear Affidavit in court? If they did, why was it necessary for them to?
PoliticsRe: The 27 Members Of Rivers Assembly Are Not APC Members - Supreme Court by CaptainGo: 6:41pm On Mar 05, 2025
zero8zero:
You don't even have to be a justice of the supreme court or even a lawyer to know that the allegation of defection was watery. We said it here many times that there are no concrete proofs to their defection.
My Lord Justices also said Fubara had already collapsed the house of Assembly which is a fundamental point of the case that many layman did not see. These judges are very intelligent and highly skilled in their profession. I could recall that Rivers State House of Assembly ceased to exist the very day Gov Fubara set the building on fire. Therefore you can be said to have defected in a house that does not exist. Amazing judgement.
Based on this judgment, is it the building that make the HOA, or the elected legislators?

If the HOA building is under repairs, and they decide to hold their sittings elsewhere with the mace and all, will those sittings be said to be unconstitutional?
PoliticsRe: The 27 Members Of Rivers Assembly Are Not APC Members - Supreme Court by CaptainGo: 6:30pm On Mar 05, 2025
Mynd44:
This has rendered whatever is coming from the high court useless.

Those assembly members by word of mouth alone cannot be said to be APC members, they have not registered to have joined APC neither is their names in the APC register or collected APC membership cards
Did they even at any point officially resign their membership of PDP?

PoliticsRe: Robbery: Why South South & South East Must Boycott Dangote/mrs Now!! by CaptainGo: 2:00pm On Mar 04, 2025
proeast:
Bigotry and tribalism is one of the major reasons that deprived Nigeria from achieving greatness. Fortunately, it was largely limited to government but it has now reared its ugly head in the private sector.

Business and tribalism/bigotry never works together, especially in a capitalist society Nigeria claims to practice.

Dangote in collaboration with MRS released their fuel price template recently, but anyone that passed through school will feel disgusted at the template and the brazen bigotry!

Since the so-called subsidy removal, NNPCL will release its price template and it will be logical based on economics. Lagos will be cheapest, followed by SW region, then SS, SE, NC, NW and finally NE in that order. The reason is simple, the farther a region is from Lagos (the entry point) the more costly fuel will be.

So, Dangote/MRS should explain to Nigerians, particularly those of us from SE and SS why their fuel will be cheaper in far distant places like Sokoto, Maiduguiri, Kafanchan, Potiskum or Kano than nearby places like Benin, Warri, Onitsha, Portharcourt, Aba, or Uyo?

The only logical explanation is that Dangote/MRS are subsidising fuel in the North while exploiting those in SS and SE. This is a perfect example of robbing Peter to pay Paul and it should be condemned.

It is within the right of people in SS and SE to reject this wickedness and unfair treatment. We should rather patronise NNPCL that follows normal business factors and boycott those that rob us.

writetopoker601:
Oga such thing can't happen again, then we were close to the military era and Obasanjo was also a military blood.
Now such can not happen, fubara can go to court and file an injunction or stay or order.
You guys think this is military era.

The actions taken by the federal government in Plateau (2004) and Ekiti (2006) were controversial in terms of their legality under the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria. Here’s why:

1. What the Constitution Says About a State of Emergency

Under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, the President can declare a state of emergency in a state, but only under specific conditions, such as:

- War, insurrection, or civil unrest that endangers public safety.
- The breakdown of law and order beyond the control of local authorities.
- A natural disaster or other emergencies that require federal intervention.

However, after declaring a state of emergency, the Constitution does not explicitly give the President the power to remove an elected governor. Instead, the governor remains in office, though his powers may be suspended.

2. Controversy Over the Removal of Governors

- In both Plateau and Ekiti, the federal government not only declared a state of emergency but also suspended the governors (Joshua Dariye and Ayo Fayose).
- Legality Issue: There is no clear constitutional provision that allows the President to remove a governor via a state of emergency. The only constitutional ways to remove a governor are:
1. Impeachment by the State House of Assembly (Section 188).
2. Resignation or death of the governor.
3. A court ruling nullifying an election.
- The federal government’s decision to suspend these governors and appoint sole administrators was therefore seen as extra-constitutional (outside the clear provisions of the law).

3. Was It Officially Justified?

- The federal government justified its actions by arguing that the crisis in those states made governance impossible and that decisive intervention was needed.
- However, many legal experts and politicians criticized these moves as political overreach and an abuse of executive power.
- The fact that this practice has not been repeated in later states of emergency (e.g., Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa during the Boko Haram crisis in 2013) suggests that it was not a legally sustainable precedent.

Conclusion

While the federal government carried out these actions and made them "official," they were not clearly legal under the 1999 Constitution. The removal of elected governors through a state of emergency remains a grey area and is widely viewed as unconstitutional.
Chairman, you are shifting goalposts with this your long essay!
