FashionRe: What is the Best Cream For Someone Who's Dark In Complexion? by captured(f): 9:46pm On Aug 30, 2009
All recommended creams for skin are good. I used revlon as a child, changed to dove as a teenager and presnently romancing nivea, my skin is my pride. am aware they all have ranges of soap, lotion, cream, and cleanser for all skin types except revlon cos i never saw the soap
better still try home made mix which i use for my son, buy about N200 worth of shea butter (ORii in yoruba) heat it, add three (3) spoons of honey, the smallest bottle of yago olive oil or more depending on your skin type. if you have any skin issue like rashes, add sivoderm and voila, leave for a day to cool (do not refrigerate) you have a nice creme.
yet to give it a name but everyone wonders what my baby and i are using so i can vouch that it works. wink

This is def my fav thread. been laafin so hard, everyone has logged on.
Makes me wonder what to expect since my 1yr old who is just starting to talk is sharp enough to know big from small size especially in edibles and laughs at my stepdad everytime he outwits him.

Just this afternoon, hy s/dad was trying to tuck him in bed and the boy just twisted then got off teh bed (in his imagination, a safe distance) then started laughing in a mocking manner. He knows to drag adults to doors when he meets them closed

HE later took biscuit to my cousin and said 'take', that one took and held on till he start screaming 'gimme gimme'
he collected it and moved on to his dad, repeated the same thing, when he got to me, he left the biscuit with me, went to get plate, cup and his feeding chair, just sat there till i opened the biscuit and poured it in the plate

he hasnt even started talking and he screams when watching football, dances to gospel and yori yori
FamilyRe: What Is A Woman's Financial Responsibility In A Marriage?. by captured(f): 8:06pm On Aug 23, 2009
you guys should focus and stop been sentimental or macho about the issue?
Not all men shirk responsibility becos they are lazy or incompetent, the economy situation makes a man priotize that is not to say some men dont always miss their priotity.
Whatever the reason, the woman needs to ensure that her husband's pride is not hurt as she tries to ensure a standard of living in the house, most men who think their wife does not spend on teh house should go an prize the food they eat, the children's clothes, teh actual cost of some of those parties and you will realise that a woman of virtue will act like she does not have a dime to spend when in actual fact, she is augmenting you change and making it do so much more.
Believe, when i say the alternative to this kind of woman is a nagging, wife who always has waiting list of expenditures and items at the end of each day, infact, all calls and sms during the day will be to add to the list from last night

but, if oga no complain, why dont you just use the money to set up a trust fund for your kids, buy properties and bonds in your children's names or plan a luxury second honeymoon cheesy

Te fact is i have been recieving sms saying that i could experience problems on most of their freebies program due to a technical upgrade (particularly after a recharge).
This has been going on for almost two months now so i wonder if they have any plan to finish the upgrade or we should just swap their sim for another network

as terrible as my husband is at calling during the day, he calls when he is running late. and when he doesn't, he comes home looking so tired, i would have to be thoughtless to start querying. but the next morning is when i play offended till he explains his waka. after all you can never be too careful.
90% of the time, he was pissed off over other matters and did not want me to take it personally if he sounded off on the phone
HealthRe: Free Tuberculosis Drugs Diverted To Other Nations Because Of Tax by captured(f): 3:36am On Aug 04, 2009
If you ever had doubt that the Nigerian Governemnt is without conscience, what more evidence do you need.

nuzo:
The FG will deny it as usual.
They wont deny it, they will give you reason which wont hold water when presented in a primary school debate

Deshola:
Please verify your information please spreading false stories!
Nairaland is a forum and can be used to confirm, after all we have medical and governement pple on teh forum. i have seen them confirm or deny in a number of threads so relax. its a matter of time

Seun:
The story hasn't been confirmed, but to me it makes sense because most goods imported into Nigeria are subject to customs tax, and the law may not (yet) have any exception for free drugs.
Nigeria has some laws concerning free drugs that has been allowing drugs meant for us to go to coutries like Niger, Sudan. there is a clause for country of manufacture, one for year of produce and expiry, and it might also be due to any of our conflicting corporate laws. believe me when I say there is a CONSTITUTIONAL reason somewhere in the mix

@omar22
You can imagine if every local government in Nigeria decides to have a cinema (doesn't have to b the film format, we can create a new technology that will support our type of HD/DV movies on the big screen), that makes it 774 cinemas, and each one is as modestly structured as a Tantalizers joint or TFC or what have you, and can accommodate at least 300 people. Even if the private sector can bring this idea (it doesnt have to b like d silverbirds and numetros), you can bet that all movie producers will want to have their movies screened first at leat for 3 months round these cinemas before it can b available on DVD.
are you referring to local govts that cant buy their own pen and stationarties. if there is one thing i am tired of hearing, its solutions that require government at any level
PoliticsRe: Uk To Build N300m Prison In Nigeria ! by captured(f): 7:06pm On Jul 19, 2009
Britain needs a place to dump some of prisoners so it can look like she is nice since she returns them to their country to be judged instead been the judge.
Nigeria ends up with so much criminals, it is forced to let go of some to accomodate the standard set out by the UK in exchange for these plushed prisons which dont necesarily remould the criminals positively.
In the long run , we end up with higher crime rates, and more desperate criminals.

My point been look at what IMF did to naira and a courtesy call from the Queen or UN wont be something any country would wish upon itself
Reason, it is never about your country, it is always about UK or US

I'm not sure we have a single Movie studio in the whole of Nollywood. imagine! and we say we're competing with Bollywood that has Hundreds with standard movie equipments
samparian:
Our camera men are not meant to climb walls or vehicles for overhead shots. there are equipments for that, but very few producers can afford to buy or even hire it lipsrsealed
Samparian, I am pleased to inform you that as at the time, i started this thread, i had contacted a top indian producer and he mentioned exactly what you said about studios, presently, am aware of a northerner and at least one serious foreigner who want to come and build production studios in Nigeria.
Forums between india and nigeria, (indian having passed though all most of our current problems) might just be a solution to some of theissues everyone is raising.

One thing i can confidently say right now is that india is interested in the nigerian market, the question now remains if nigeria is willing to work with them or we want continue to pretend to compete where there is really no competition

omar22:
I was once in a restuarant in South London, and I realised that 3 tables away from me they were shooting a scene for a nollywood movie and I gasp that WTF is going on here,

Atleast they should've acted like normal customers who came into a resturant, but no they had to over do it,

"That contract of a project worth £2m" was signed in a resturant,(Part of the movie storyline) the guy given it all large, he would do this do that, and everyone was looking at them, they should have asked the people in the restuarant to act normal and continue with their food and drinks but NO NO NO, A year later my mother called to say I could have dressed more decent if I was going to appear in a movie, I said to her that I just finished playing football and I was starving, I couldnt careless whether the guy with the camera man was a local or Martin Scorsese. I was so hungary to be bother about what they were doing, Another day in Thamesmead around 10am I heard someone shouting outside so I looked out of the window, guess what it was Jide Kosoko on the mobile bragging giving it large, calling £m as if he was Bill Gates, I thought it was a joke until realised that they were shooting a movie, I felt ashamed at that moment, because I have walked past a Bolywood movie setting around East London! the difference is like a gulf in size,
Has it ever occured to you that most Naija producers do not think they can achieve normality during a shoot, the indians know how to achieve that and they can share this.
Attracting government or other sponsors to movie is also something we need to learn and having forums to discuss this issue will be more for us than the indians.

samparian:
Nollywood and Bollywood can work together if:
1. There is a good story that can bring them together
2. Real investors from Nigeria willing to finance/ co produce such a story
3. Patience of the Nigerian investor ie willingness to wait for like 6 months minimum for production.

when we have this, we can work together. Bolloywood doesnt need us to progress, we need them to move ahead.
finally, someone who understands the need of such a collabo.
no denying we have more to gain and as such, its our call to invite them and co operate
BusinessRe: What Sells In Nigeria These Days? by captured(f): 10:19pm On Jun 26, 2009
MY recommendation is quite simle. is there any thing your folks lamented of quite often that has a solution in the states. like wristwatches, laptop accesories, quality cardigans etc. this ensures that you have stuffs which your network of family and friends will be interested in but be warned it puts you at risk of buy now pay later.
Otherwise, just import a particular item and find a delaer in a market known for the specific item. eg. Electronics - Alaba, Laptops/Phones/PC - Otigba

everyone knows Nigeria produces movies faster than biscuits, but that is not an issue

we are hoping a forum between the two industries will help them discuss their implementation process with nollywood actually benefiting more.

India like nigeria is not as rich as america but has structured the industry to become a money spinner. given the similarity in the operation environment, i think the forum is a great idea.

India movies are available in english and indian languages, and are have a standard of been subtitled in english

out of curiosity, what would you rather recommend sincew you seen so strongly against bringbollywood to nigeria
TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood And Bollywood Ever Work Together? by captured(op): 1:13pm On Jun 21, 2009
Thirdborn:
ARE YOU SERIOUS, NOLLYWOOD AND BOLLYWOOD HAVE GIVEN HOLLYWOOD A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY? hOLLYWOOD MAKES MORE IN A YARE THAN BOLLY AND NOLLY COMBINED, INFACT HOLLYWOODS BIGGEST HIT FOR A YAER MAKES TEN TIMES MORE THAN ALL NOLLYWOOD FILMS OUT TOGETHER, SO DON'T THINK THAT HOLLYWOOD IS WORRIED ABOUT A SILLY RANKING, WHAT'S THIS PRIMARY SCHOOL?

AS PER YOUR NOLLYWOOD AND BOLLYWOOD COLLABO, GO COLLABO WITH SOUTH AFRICA FIRST. HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK YOU CAN PAY A BOLLY ACTOR WHEN THIER SALARY WILL MAKE 100 NOLLYWOOD FILMS.
to bring even hollywood stars to nigeria is not so much about cos there is money enough to bring the music stars so why not the actors and actresess. fact is there is already an arrangement on bringing bollywood's top stars to Nigeria, I was just curious as to which stars nigerian will want to meet, is it the traditional ones or the more mordern ones, male or female, dancers or singers, that kind of thing

Nollywood is quite regulated and cant be moved asid by bollywood on its own soil, so no shaking.

Ranking is and will always be a part of anything you do in entertainment even if it is in the personal lives of those involved so leave primary school, this one is as real as forbes and Mnet

It is no more news that Nollywood and Bollywood have given HollyWood a run for thier money, but how will people especially nigerians respond to shows, movies and such projects between Nollywood and Bollywood.
Would we get the response level we get when you mention Hollywood stars?
For example: If Bollywood living legends like Anil Kappor of Slumdog Millionaire,  Dharmendra and Hemamalini were to come to Nigeria on a tour or something like that?

just pray for her

HealthHow Do You Report A Fake Chemist? by captured(op): 9:49am On May 28, 2009
There is a pharmacy near my house which is literarily the most prefeered in the hood cos the guy really did the place like it was legit. some days ago, we bough indocid which is often used as poison for small rats but to our dismay, the powder felt funny, had no smell (like moju used for babies) and was tasteless, not anything like the indocid we knew.

We had also notice that, anytime we buy drugs from the guy, we still end either having to prolong medication or end up having it changed which is i suspect is because they are all fake. how do i report a case like this as the guy's pharmacy is always filled with parents even asking him to recommend for them.

While this will be a luxury service, i will advise that if you must bring it down, make it availabale at parks and resorts instead of setting up a seperate location, because it will be a while before you can convince nigerians to fly in balloons. a lot still dont travel by plane except it is absolutely necesary.
but by been at these locations, you can relate with people directly and spread the word on the benefits of the flight.

Personally, you better be a good preacher cos i aint gettin on a balloon till i have seen one go up and land safely with my korokoro eyes
