My heart is broken in pieces as I write this. My elder brother battled with epilepsy for over 25 years....finally passed on in 2007 as he started having hallucinations and took an overdose of medications. I've not been myself since then. I loved him most of all my siblings of 6. He was so kind and gentle, never angry, always happy, despite the disease. The most painful part for my human heart was that we tried churches and pastors to no avail. Till date, I still feel God let me down. .

You think it's inappropriate? Why? Is there a dress code? Is it the weather? What about marketers wearing suits under the scorching sun and intense heat? Would you have noticed him if he wore just singlet? Would you have respected him more if he looked dirty and unkempt?

The dude simply wanted to stand out. Let's not judge him. I commend everything about him. That dress sense was what attracted the woman to him, not even his attitude.

Gosh! These rich kids can be something else. I know of another former governor's son that was crazy about torturing and molesting girls. When I was in school, senators weren't left out. They have their targets: GOLD DIGGERS and NAIVE pretty girls. So disgusting.

I fear for sugarbelly. One of my roommates that spoke out back then in school disappeared. She wasn't found until after 2 weeks at Nassarawa...bruised, rapèd, tortured, battered and scarred.

You are right Caracta, we have so much misconceptions about epileptic patients that calls for more awareness and orientation of people close to them on how to help and not run away from them when they need their assistance the most when in danger.


One the misconceptions is, people thinking they can get infected with the saliva of the the person in seizure and putting objects in the person's mouth so they wouldn't give up the ghost.

Funny enough, I don't see groups or volunteers standing up for them the way they do for HIV patients, cancer, sickle cell carriers, physically challenged, etc. It's totally unfair. The lady I'm talking about is 28. Imagine living that way for over 20 years. She is an undergrad and all her room mates had to vacate the apartment for her. She has no friend. No boyfriend. No hope of getting married someday. Afraid and depressed.

I have a very pretty young lady that goes into seizure monthly, sometimes weekly. I've watched her in seizures many times in public; inside danfo bus, on pedestrian bridge, in church, at the beach, etc.

I had to restrain her from the kitchen as she has had many bruises from broken dishes, hot oil, etc during seizure.

The best way to take care of people like that is to show them love, care and understanding. When they are in seizure, just let that moment pass and protect them from injury.

Then after, let then rest well. Pray for them and hug them often. Many of them suffer in silence. Never run away from them!
