It’s exactly 7 years now that our very own Dagrin, Lyrical weyrey passed on to the great beyond. He died exactly 6:00pm on Thursday April 22nd after being involved in a fatal Accident along Agege motor road Mushin. His death brought pains and agony not only to his family but also all lovers of Yoruba rap music in Nigeria. As at the time of his death, many of us couldn’t imagine the fate of Yoruba rap after his demise. Going back to the memories of his songs, “ Pon Pon Pon”, “Ghetto Dreams”, “Kondo” , and many more, Where is Dagrin? Where is my Chief Executive Omoita? #Tears!! Meanwhile, after Dagrin’s death so many Yoruba rappers came on and successfully shine on the glory of Barrack ‘O’ Grin but the Question is who among them has really filled his space by making us continue to enjoy that spiritual feeling of Yoruba rap? |

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s war against corruption is a ruse, as he is shielding his friends and associates from the law. This was stated in a statement released by Dayo Adeyeye, the spokesperson for the Ahmed-Makarfi faction of the PDP on Wednesday. It also said Buhari’s letter to the Senate , defending the corruption allegations against EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu and Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir Lawal, shows he was targeting only the opposition. The statement read: “It is no longer news that all those who are serving in the government of President Buhari or who are members of his Party, the APC within the last two years of his administration have all been cleared of any wrongdoing, notwithstanding documentary and other incontrovertible evidences to the contrary. “The Presidency in today’s dispensation is the ‘judicial clearing house’ issuing clean bill of health to all accused corrupt officials who are members of the APC and friends of the administration. “It is quite disturbing that the President cleared his SGF of wrongdoing despite the weighty evidence of his ‘Grass-cutting abilities’ uncovered by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, implicating Babachir (Lawal) of complicity in the award of contract relating to the IDP Camp in Borno State amounting to over N200m.” The party accused the government of double standards in its fight against corruption and different laws. “One law is for the PDP and other opposition parties and their leaders while the other is for the ruling party, the APC and friends of this administration,” it said. PDP also recalled that the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Burati, was cleared of all accusations even after clear evidences were presented against him. Adeyeye said: “In the same vein, ‘Buhari’s Court’ also cleared the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazzau (retd.) for allegedly owning properties worth over N1.5bn in the United States of America. “In fact, rather than being prosecuted, he was rewarded with the highest budget vote in the 2017 Budget. “What about the Case of Jafaru Isa? The President’s friend and confidant was alleged to have taken millions of naira from the purported Arms money but that has also gone under since it was first mentioned in the media. “While Isa’s case is dead, others mentioned with him are either defending themselves in courts or are being tried in the media to intimidate them into silence. “Another case worth mentioning is that of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who also has several allegations of corruption hanging around his neck but obviously has being cleared of them.” |

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has shut down blogs and websites that have “jamb” attached to their domain names in order to ensure they do not end up defrauding unsuspecting individuals. This was disclosed by one of the owners of the affected sites. According to him, he received a mail from his web host concerning the development. The mail reads, “We got a complaint from JAMB through National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on a number of domain names that are defrauding Nigerians using different variant of their name (JAMB), your website was listed among them, and we were instructed to investigate and suspend all the domain names involved”. “We communicated the information to the Registrars of the domain names in question and requested them to kindly also investigate and take the appropriate action”. “We understand that this domain names may not indulge in any fraudulent activity. However, we advice that you take down the contents of this site as requested by NITDA to avoid immediate suspension of the domain name”. “Please note that if this is not done within 12 hours of this report, we will be forced to suspend the domain”. Checks and observations reveals that such websites bearing "jamb" as part of their domain names are no longer accessible. |
Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has challenged Ndigbo to aim for the country’s most coveted political position , the presidency. Never one to shy away from expressing himself vigorously on critical national issues, Obasanjo made his views known Tuesday in Abeokuta while hosting a select team of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by Bishop Tunde Akinsanya, who were at his Hilltop mansion for a special New Year service in his honour. Alluding to issues of marginalization and injustice in Nigeria, Obasanjo said, “…irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of 2019, I personally think that the South-East should have a go at the Presidency too.“The same is happening here. If Ijebu and Egba have produced the governor, it is only fair and just to allow the Yewa or Ogun West to also produce governor. Or else, one day, they will also stand up and take up arms against this injustice against them. That is my personal position on this.” While noting that ethnicity remains a major source of conflict, Obasanjo admitted influencing the choice of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2009, arguing that it was deliberate to ensure ethnic balancing in favour of the South-south region. It is not clear if Obasanjo’s views would translate to an undiluted support for a candidate of Igbo extraction in the 2019 presidential poll. Late last year, the former president had come hard on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Muhammadu Buhari, for spending too much time on fault-finding with Jonathan’s administration rather than focusing and tackling challenges of the moment. Obasanjo is still believed to be a close confidant of President Buhari. source: Ripples Nigeria… without borders, without fears cc: lalasticlala, fynestboi |
