sleekman: I have a different theory as to how it is possible for people to loose money through ATMs. These ATMs are computers with a machine attached to them to dispense money so I believe the guys from the technical department install trojans/viruses to capture your card details anytime you go to cash money at the ATMs. My advice to anyone will be
1.to make sure withdrawals are only made at ATMs situated at banks. 2. Create 2 accounts e.g. Current & savings or savings/current hybrid & savings. Tie the ATM card to your current or hybrid accounts and not your savings account. Leave little money in your ATM account and transfer most of it to your savings. 3. Use at least 3 debit cards tied to 3 different banks and leave small sums in them. 4. Save the number/s of your bank branch, accounts officer, debit card company e.g. Interswitch, Visa, mastercard in your phone. Have them on speed dial if possible.
I am of the opinion that the card companies should operate an SMS service using an SMS code that enables a cardholder to self destruct his card or temporarily disable his card until he directs otherwise. Wish us all luck. Generally good ideas except no. 4 above. Usually when you call banks, they don't pick up on first ring or even first call. you'd need to dial several times before they pick up. By then, your money don waka far. But any action is better than no action i guess. |

Algeria player slaps female reporter
PRETORIA, South Africa – Algeria soccer player Rafik Saifi slapped a female journalist across the face as the aftermath of the United States’ dramatic World Cup victory turned ugly at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday night.
While walking through the interview zone, Saifi spotted writer Asma Halimi, who works for Algerian newspaper Competition, and struck her with his open hand in front of dozens of witnesses. Halimi responded by striking the player in the mouth.
Saifi then threw a sports drink bottle at a wall in the interview area, as Halimi was ushered away by security staff.
Saifi came on as substitute for the last five minutes of the USA’s 1-0 victory.
“I said nothing to him and he reached over and hit me,” Halimi said to Yahoo! Sports. “So I hit him back. I said nothing to him first.”
It is understood that Saifi and Halimi had previously had a difference of opinion over an article she wrote for her newspaper.
“She was standing there and the guy came here and he hit her,” said Francisco Aguilar Chang, a reporter from Guatemala who witnessed the incident. “Then she hit him back and her nail caught his lip.”
Saifi and Algerian football association officials refused to comment when quizzed by Yahoo! Sports.
The Algerian team has come under heavy criticism in its homeland after a disappointing World Cup in which it finished at the bottom of Group C and was knocked out of the tournament.
When asked if she would launch an official complaint with governing body FIFA and the Algerian F.A., Halimi replied: “Of course.” Let's hope the justice system in algeria is not like naija's. |

DejiYesufu: I live at Akobo, Ibadan. Due to poor planning a single lane road leads from Akobo to inner city Ibadan where most people work. Akobo, being a new site, has many residents now living there and the number of people there is increasing daily. Now, what baffles me the most is why the traffic is so heavy on monday but begins to petter out as the weekdays go by. Then on Friday eveing there is 'go slow' again, this time as we return home. Someone explained that the 'weekenders' from Lagos are returning but I doubt this line of argument. What is do you think? Is it the same in your city? Why do you doubt the above? Seems reasonable to me |
