The above is very valid my Oga, in the clime where it was postulated. Pray, do tell me one company on our own bourse that you are completely confident in its future productivity and can afford to take your eyes off the scoreboard (volume and price) for a while.
In my opinion the phrase "complete confidence" does not even exist when the asset we are talking about is my humble self. So I would not have complete confidence in anyone not to talk of companies. I do hope and we can only hope. Nothing is promised or guaranteed.

The saying does makes sense for me though...maybe because I am not trying to time the market and be a millionaire overnight.
I just dey waka jejely.

Food for thought:

"You don’t need to be an expert in order to achieve satisfactory investment returns... Focus on the future productivity of the asset you are considering.. If you instead focus on the prospective price change of a contemplated purchase, you are speculating.. Games are won by players who focus on the playing field – not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard... " - Warren Buffett

look at the scoreboard once in a while sha...lol

There is a mix up somewhere.
Does it mean FPI jumped from 25.17 % in July,2014 to 81% in August, 2014?
Just culled below from marketwatch.ng
"However, the FPI started declining in April to 75.25, went down in May to 52.32 and further down to 25.17 per cent in July. Domestic investors can be categorised into either institutional or retail investors. Their transaction, on the other hand, rose to 74.83 per cent of total equity transaction in July, 2014 from 37.47 per cent in July, 2013"
I have not read the report but I am sure that Foreign Investment is more than than of local investments in the market (total worth of the market). So that leaves me to think the report might be refering to monthly investments which would make sense.

There are many of them out there. Many FX brokers offer what's called PAMM(Percentage Allocation Money Management) account(s). But requires a bit huge capital ($1,000-5,000 upward) and It's very risky when compared to stock trading. Brother, everything can vanish in just a few seconds, I've to be honest with you. The reward is very high, depending on the experience of the trader/fund manager handling the fund.
Never trade with an unregulated forex broker. Deal only with brokers where they are regulated by 3 following countries: US, Swiss and UK(Personally, I prefer UK 'cos of FCA tough regulations).
You might want to check out an example of how PAMMs work as offered by some reputable and regulated forex brokers - Dukascopy, Corner Trader (not a recommendation, though).
Thank you. I will do some research.

I need some clarifications please :
Example :
One invests 50,000 on KGIF.
Instructs that dividends be re-invested.
So, after 6 months and 6% dividend payout, he will now have 53,000 as principal right? By the end of the financial year ie another six months he has 56,180 as principal. As opposed to getting just 56,000 at the end of 12 months.
I just hope someone gets my drift. Need to know if i've been short changed undecided
Yes your maths is about right. The difference may look small considering the amount involved but if you don't need the dividends immediately better to re-invest it. It also helps you to develop a plan you can continue to follow even when you have 50m in there.

A thought just came to me and sure am not the first to think about this...maybe it exists already.

Is there any index fund for trading in forex? Where several people pull capital together and a fund manager manages the fund the way we have them managing mutual funds.

@Moneyb

I am not a forex trader but I can relate to the above.

I would love to be involved, everyone wants to make an extra buck here and there. I would love to sit down on the beach sipping whatever it is my poison is and smiling at my back account. However, the sacrifices one has to make are evident in your post.

Thank you for the post and would be following this.

AdimGreat: Thnx guys for your contributions.
I guess I have to reconsider now.
Please what other form of investment, apart from starting a biz, would you recommend for someone with small cash (less than 50k)?
Do you have an emergency fund (savings). If you don't, please save the 50k somewhere. If you do, invest in one of the numerous Mutual Funds.

cheers

Mascotlawman: bnsitl, pls is TRANSCORP a good buy at the current price? And fbnh and OANDO? All are for medium term. Thanks in anticipation
I would buy FBNH but I would not touch Transcorp and Oando now

I think FBNH is trading below its true potential....Transcorp seems too high and will like to see how Oando plays after some weeks.

N.B. I own shares in all three and am holding them

moyin2009: I think the logic of trading penny stock is to save money little by little and after there is reasonable increase, then you can use the money to invest in blue chips coy. just my opinion sha.
Well... depends on the individual. In percentages,1 naira a share stock that becomes 2 naira has doubled your money the same way 25 naira a share that is now 50 naira would. The penny stocks do have an advantage though, you may pick one that will rise by 500% in years, it is very rare for blue chips to rise that much. In addition, the cost of buying penny stock is relatively low and entry into it is presumed to be relatively easy which provides you with opportunity to gain more if you pick them well and for years. Of course there is also a downside but if the aim is to buy penny stocks in the first place, why trade them for less probability of a rise in a blue chip stock and still have to pay fees to get out and fees to get into the blue chip ones.

My own opinion also

ifyalways: They call themselves SFS Capital. You could invest as low as 10,000 ngn monthly/quarterly/annually/semi-annually with a promise of delivering 12% (minimum, which means it COULD be more) interest per annum.
I dug deeper on my own and found out they are registered as "Unit trust Scheme" . What does that mean huh
Unit trust is just a general name for all those funds we have been talking about. This might help http://www.first-trustees.com/page.php?item=Unit+Trust+Scheme&tag1=Products+and+Services

InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by carpenter(m): 10:41am On Sep 30, 2014
ernie4life: I was discussing with a friend that works in another investment house about the issue of part of mutual funds being invested in stock, this was what he said, about 85% of mutual funds are invested in Tbills and bonds, the other 15% is invested in stocks, the major reason fund managers do this is because of the potential of stocks yielding more than bonds and tbills, while bonds could give you 13% interest, stocks if professional invested has the potential of yielding 20%. If this be the case the fund managers will still pay u the agreed 12% or 11% interest as agreed and the excess becomes their gain.
Expository if you as me, what do you guys think about this?
Most of the funds have allocation ranges in percentages between Bonds, TBills, Liquidity or Stocks. It is always nice to know what constitutes the fund you are investing in especially if you have certain beliefs that may deter you from them. The allocation ranges are not fixed and can be reviewed.

N.B. I am not a financial expert, i just manage my own finances on excel and read a few stuff here and there.

How do we buy and develop one rental property a year if we cannot even afford the price of land? If such opportunity is available, what is the entry level?

moyin2009: Good insight. and do a research about dividend payment of the company
I think it was more about patience, I could have sold at several times but I decided not to, could have bought more too but could not take the risk of overleveraging myself. Also bought Livestock feeds @50k close to 200,000 units but sold all around 1.00 because I got cold feet. Wema also @50k sold at about 90k or so averagely. So there is an element of luck in all these and Beco!!!...i hate that stock but am not gonna sell till i can get my money back, doubt if anyone wants to buy it @50k sef. Just remembered CHAMS and ASOSAVINGS have been staring at me for about two years @50k grin dem no gree move to where dem suppose dey...
InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by carpenter(m):
ifyalways: I wish I could get one that actually gives extra bonuses. Investment one claim they do for KGIF but I'm yet to see or hear anyone that actually got.
Reinvesting dividends is super cool. I do that too.
Generally, one should not carry all his/ her life savings and plunge into mutual funds, to avoid stories that touch. Invest only a fraction, something you can live without.
KGIF is for you then since it is fixed (although if the benchmark (MPR) moves, be sure the manager will move the goal post), can swing both ways sha. Then they say if there is excess, 35% of profits could also be shared which is extra.

I will rather keep my money in stocks and funds as long as I do not need them now. Since I found out only 500k is insured by NDIC per individual account, I only keep a little spending cash in my bank account and the rest goes to stocks and somewhat liquid investment like Money market.

carpenter: I invest in the FBN money market fund and it is NOT guaranteed (principal and yield). The Fund is rated low risk by Agusto and Co.
You can do a search for FBN Money Market Fund, I think KGIF suits you better though.
What is being invested in is what dictates the trend...
They pay when due and I reinvest my dividends, they also give bonuses which is outside the 11.5% (just remembered this).
When I took stock of yield rate after about 1.5yrs, I was having about 21% increase (dividends and bonuses).
Sorry no bonues, just checked my statement

ogawisdom: D first rule of my investment policy is 99.99% security of my principal. This is not negotiable ofcourse I worked soo hard to earn this money. I detest losing my principal after denyin myself somethings to save this money, my last investment in oando stock comes to mind though I didn't lose bc of my swift action but my stockbroker almost messed with my money. I almost develop high bp while all dt lasted
R u into this first bank fund n is my principa very safe in d fund. 11% pa payable quaterly is nt bad if my principal is 100% secured.

Please contact a Bank or an institution like RenCredit (RenMoney). It is difficult at first and you might need to start with a little but with time...you build a reputation.
