How much? |
As a Renter, I would prefer to pay monthly. As a Landlord, I would prefer to receive yearly (of course at the beginning of the year) It all boils down to the time value of money for me. |
Ernie I see you are still here! You don try for naija O. Have those calling us lazy investors now joined us ?ernie4life: |
igbizen:To move money from one account or bank to another is a function of how you got the money into your account, where you are transferring it and how the other bank treats such transfers (inflows and cash deposit are treated differently). If your bank says it will cost you $50 to move money then it is $50. You have no control over it. If you are moving between the same bank, it is cheaper since you will not be paying off-shore charges and telex. All you pay is commission and VAT on Comm (the % for GTBank and other banks are regulated so what you have above maybe the same for most banks). Trust your bank to give you the rate when you are making the transfer and do your calculations. |
carpenter:Sales is good! Now is the time to spend some money, FBN are you ready to be sold? I see lots of lovers for you here... |
arsenalman:You could just search for Nigeria |
DUNKA:Their site will be of great help...please go there and check, call the contact numbers or email them. https://www.arminvestmentcenter.com/contact-us/find-an-investment-center/ |
OBAGADAFFI:Good for you, you should buy as much as you get your hands on... |
OBAGADAFFI:Yeah...but the shares are limited on the floor...it is just a matter of time before you can't even see them to buy except current holders decide to sell at a loss especially those that bought above 3naira. Any current holder that intends to hold the stock already has their stockbroker on speed dial ![]() |
davide470:Spot on from where I stand. The price of the right is largely determined by how much they need to raise and not by how much the shares are currently selling in the market. Yes, a Rights Issue will normally be less than the price in the market but it doesn't have to be so. It is a game of numbers for some reasons 1. Current investors depending on how they think the company is doing can decide to pickup the rights or not, if they do...they up their game (more like maintain their current shareholding in reality), if they don't, they dilute their shares. 2. If they decide to pick up more shares (most likely from the market since it is cheaper for example), it is just a matter of time before the market drys up and by then the prices in the market would have risen beyond the 3 naira set for the rights issue. There might also be a long queue for those shares in the market...lol. Most people won't get it before it touches 3 naira. The main issue would be investors' confidence on the company but one thing is sure...this is a bold move and the company is sending a strong signal on how confident they are with this...time will tell |
I am down -14.28% overall but I have not sold in years, I just buy. My biggest movers were Dangote Flour, NewGold. And the worst FBNH, Oando and NAHCO (They represent approx. a third of my entire portfolio 33.64%) |

DUNKA:Simple...just tell your stockbroker you want to buy New Gold...it is sold as an ETF. You buy just like you buy other shares. |
Intendy:Thank you Chief. I will follow up with the registrars. |
Intendy:I haven't received also, I was wondering if they have paid, 12th was a public holiday...thanks |
Cation:I can't say much as I just treat it like every other stock I own. I did some reading back then and this was just my way of buying gold without having it with me physically. You can read the below: http://etfcib.absa.co.za/Products/Exchange%20Traded%20Funds/Commodities/NewGold/Pages/default.aspx https://justonelap.com/newgoldetf/ http://etfdb.com/type/commodity/precious-metals/gold-etf/ |
jsheng:If you interested in gold, you can buy "New Gold" it is traded on the exchange. Please do your research first and be careful not to deal in markets that are not regulated. Disclosure: I own shares of New Gold |
rebekah2011:If I may ask, whose fault is it that people (clients) are allowed to make or offer trades that are presumed offenses? |
hmmmmm...Is the market closed today? Where is everybody ![]() |
Godisfaithful:Hopefully, it won't exceed 30 days.
|
OBAGADAFFI:Why did you have to mention Japaul? I am definitely going to have a nightmare about them tonight ![]() Worst piece of ass I put my money on... |
rebekah2011:Well said... sincerely, the problem has always been communication and related services. |
pluto09:No fixation on FBN for me, but I am fixated about everything I own. I don't think FBN is a dying company, they are struggling and it might take years to get back but certainly not dying. |
Mopolchi:DEFINITION of 'Average Down' The process of buying additional shares in a company at lower prices than you originally purchased. This brings the average price you've paid for all your shares down. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/averagedown.asp say you bought 1,000 units @ 33 naira...costing you about 33,000 excluding fees and taxes. Since you have taken a stand not to sell at less that 33, you can buy more say another 1,000 at 3 naira and your average cost of the stock will go down. That way you don't have to wait till it gets to 33. 1. 1,000 units @ 33=33,000 2. 1,000 units @ 3 = 3,000 TC=36,000 AC=36,000/2000= 18 So now only need to wait for 18 and not 33 to break even (fees and taxes not included) The more you buy now, the better for you. |
Mopolchi:You have taken a stand, abeg try buy more now and average down. |
locodemy:All you need to do is to just send the registrar an email that you bought some other company they manage or call them. In most cases, they would have appropriated the shares to your account already sef especially if you bought through the same broker. |
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly ![]() |
ernie4life:I think we may have better yields than it has been since the beginning of the year but not as good as last year otherwise we would be back to square one. Now, this is just me throwing words around....inflation is high, to curb it you want to raise interest rates...however, interest rates (minimum 30% of MPR) is a function of MPR, so you raise the MPR. Before now, I think we had a few funds that were benchmarked on MPR...I don't think there is one anymore (another of my guesses). So it seems to me there has been a clear dissociation. How instruments that constitute a mutual fund rise will then determine how the funds will do. Now, that was exhausting! |
Naijainvestor:Stock Investments are a function of how much you paid for them....Dangote Flour, Oando, Livestock Feeds have all done well depending on who you are talking to. |
Moses247:You can get it from their monthly reports on their site. |
Chukzyfcb:People are pulling their money because it is simply not as profitable as it used to be. With inflation as high as double digits and rates on MMF on single digits, you are actually making a loss on your money. |
