PropertiesRe: Rent Payment: Monthly Vs Yearly by carpenter(m): 1:31pm On Jan 22, 2020
As a Renter, I would prefer to pay monthly.
As a Landlord, I would prefer to receive yearly (of course at the beginning of the year)

It all boils down to the time value of money for me.

If my bank tells me $50 nko? I suppose somebody has done this dollar fund in this platform - I need an upfront info to make a decision when I approach banks.
To move money from one account or bank to another is a function of how you got the money into your account, where you are transferring it and how the other bank treats such transfers (inflows and cash deposit are treated differently). If your bank says it will cost you $50 to move money then it is $50. You have no control over it. If you are moving between the same bank, it is cheaper since you will not be paying off-shore charges and telex. All you pay is commission and VAT on Comm (the % for GTBank and other banks are regulated so what you have above maybe the same for most banks).

Trust your bank to give you the rate when you are making the transfer and do your calculations.

How market?

I have gone ahead to buy more of FBN, Oando, Tiger Brands, Nahco, AG Leventis, Learn Africa, Livestock Feeds and Transcorp.

No major reason why besides, it is sales!!! I just feel like spending some money, same as others would go to a shop and buy themselves clothes or cars. The only stock I plan on selling when things pick up is FBN.

Goodwill hunting...
Sales is good! Now is the time to spend some money, FBN are you ready to be sold? I see lots of lovers for you here...

Investor's confidence is the main issue here.

Because i don't see my self queuing-up at the registrar to buy an expensive stock, when i can get it cheaper on the floor.

Lets see what will happen today.
Yeah...but the shares are limited on the floor...it is just a matter of time before you can't even see them to buy except current holders decide to sell at a loss especially those that bought above 3naira. Any current holder that intends to hold the stock already has their stockbroker on speed dial grin
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by carpenter(m):
davide470:
Two (2) things are involved:

1. The MM might move up the price above the Rights offer price very soon or before the closure of the offering.

2. UPDC might just start a rally after the closure based on it's seemingly lliquid nature and therefore easily "manipulated". Also considering most of it's shareholders bought at c.10NGN and need to average down cheaply.

With Stanbic being the Lead broker, they might have underwritten about 50% or above of the offering and would therefore do "their magic" on the stock.

It's a Green Light from my end, but DD always!
Spot on from where I stand.

The price of the right is largely determined by how much they need to raise and not by how much the shares are currently selling in the market. Yes, a Rights Issue will normally be less than the price in the market but it doesn't have to be so. It is a game of numbers for some reasons

1. Current investors depending on how they think the company is doing can decide to pickup the rights or not, if they do...they up their game (more like maintain their current shareholding in reality), if they don't, they dilute their shares.
2. If they decide to pick up more shares (most likely from the market since it is cheaper for example), it is just a matter of time before the market drys up and by then the prices in the market would have risen beyond the 3 naira set for the rights issue. There might also be a long queue for those shares in the market...lol. Most people won't get it before it touches 3 naira.

The main issue would be investors' confidence on the company but one thing is sure...this is a bold move and the company is sending a strong signal on how confident they are with this...time will tell

JIJO it is not an offense. Bidding or offering units less than 100units during pre-market is a big offense. I know so many would have done this before unintentionally. I did before I got to know that it is an offense.
If I may ask, whose fault is it that people (clients) are allowed to make or offer trades that are presumed offenses?

Sir, from NSE perspective, Morgan Capital had been cautioned since July 28th 2016 on Rule 17.16 (b) but they never adhere to it. They see it long coming. I'm very very sorry for those being hurt by this. God will restore back what had been lost and restore our market back to a platform of comfort. It is very unfortunate indeed!

Rule 17.16 (b) (formerly Article 104A, Amendments and Additions Part I) - Churning; Fictitious or Deceptive Trading Patterns

Well, I have been trading with lead for six years, and 80% of my orders are executed within +/-2 mins.
Any delay More than 30mins is usually due to the bid/ offers on the stock.

If you're buying stock with full like CONOIL(Aug/sep preriod) your order might not be executed in two days.

If selling stocks like, starcoms grin, Dunlop grin, Japul grin
Your orders might not be executed within two years grin

Why the fixation on FBN? Why would anybody continue to put his money in a "dieing" company?
For now,FBN should only be bought by traders(the jijo masters), there are better stocks out there.
No fixation on FBN for me, but I am fixated about everything I own. I don't think FBN is a dying company, they are struggling and it might take years to get back but certainly not dying.

I need you to explain more on this "average down". I recently bought 300 units at 3 Naira.
DEFINITION of 'Average Down'

The process of buying additional shares in a company at lower prices than you originally purchased. This brings the average price you've paid for all your shares down.

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/averagedown.asp

say you bought 1,000 units @ 33 naira...costing you about 33,000 excluding fees and taxes.

Since you have taken a stand not to sell at less that 33, you can buy more say another 1,000 at 3 naira and your average cost of the stock will go down. That way you don't have to wait till it gets to 33.

1. 1,000 units @ 33=33,000
2. 1,000 units @ 3 = 3,000

TC=36,000
AC=36,000/2000= 18

So now only need to wait for 18 and not 33 to break even (fees and taxes not included)

The more you buy now, the better for you.

what you are saying is i should buy at least 1,000 units of all the companies in their list and process it at once to avoid contacting them again......if i speak you mind......i want to say a big thank you to you but if not,pls kindly clarify further.
All you need to do is to just send the registrar an email that you bought some other company they manage or call them. In most cases, they would have appropriated the shares to your account already sef especially if you bought through the same broker.

find key highlights of the MPC meeting below;

• MPR increased by 200bps to 14%

• CRR maintained at 22.5%

• Asymmetric corridor around the MPR maintained at +200bps and -500bps

my opinion
last year we witnessed some of the highest yields in mutual funds which could be as a result of MPR being 13%, going by historical experience it is safe to say mutual funds yields for the remaining part of this year may be higher than that of last year.

with an increase in MPR comes an increase in rates generally. equity market is bound to bear the loss as most funds will be moved to the fixed income market( equity market performance has an inverse relationship with interest rates)
I think we may have better yields than it has been since the beginning of the year but not as good as last year otherwise we would be back to square one. Now, this is just me throwing words around....inflation is high, to curb it you want to raise interest rates...however, interest rates (minimum 30% of MPR) is a function of MPR, so you raise the MPR. Before now, I think we had a few funds that were benchmarked on MPR...I don't think there is one anymore (another of my guesses). So it seems to me there has been a clear dissociation. How instruments that constitute a mutual fund rise will then determine how the funds will do. Now, that was exhausting!

There is hardly any stock market investments in Nigeria that makes more than inflation except new gold ETF and some floating rate bonds. Read our blog on how to beat inflation on nairametrics, mutualfunds Nigeria dot com or on pro share website
Stock Investments are a function of how much you paid for them....Dangote Flour, Oando, Livestock Feeds have all done well depending on who you are talking to.

Yes o, the rate don increase but have you all noticed something wierd with FBN money market? The fund size is rreducing drastically. As of;
Jan - 92.8bn
Feb - 94.27bn
March - 93.9bn
April - 89.72bn
May - 86.08bn
June - 71.88bn
#between march and april, there was a reduction of 4bn. The most shocking was between may & june. The Funds reduced with a whooping 14.2bn naira. I don't want to agree that people are pulling away their money because of the tight economy. I believe these funds are taken out to help First bank come out of their terrible financial situation........what do yall say? Coz my eyes are on that fund size for now
People are pulling their money because it is simply not as profitable as it used to be. With inflation as high as double digits and rates on MMF on single digits, you are actually making a loss on your money.
