Episode II “Johnny!” Madam called from the sitting-room. “Yes, Madam.” I dried my hands on the table cloth and left the kitchen. She was sitting on a sofa and watching a soap opera on the television. I had earlier served her a bottle of red wine and a glass cup. “Don’t you think adding some ice blocks will make the taste be better?” she asked. I nodded. She was quite right, but she did not ask me to bring ice cubes in the first place. “I’ll get them, Madam.” I returned to the kitchen to get some ice block in a small stainless bowl. “Yeah, that is better,” she muttered as I placed the bowl on the stool in front of her. I went back to the kitchen. The pot of water I placed on the gas cooker would soon be boiling. Madam said I should prepare semolina meal for her. It was getting to seven p.m. She said she liked to take her evening meal early. I had been a houseboy to her just about a week ago. At twenty-two, I should be more ambitious and should probably be studying in a university or a polytechnic, but fate had made it that I would be a domestic servant; at least for now. Serving Madam Linda Bature had not been totally bad, so far. She must be in her mid-forties, pretty and slim. She was a senior officer in the Customs service. She said her family lived in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while she lived by herself in a bungalow at Eleyele, Ibadan. The Madam at the Top: https://okadabooks.com/book/about/the_madam_at_the_top/38899 |

Hmn... Let us wait and see. |
Let us say it loud and clear. Open Grazing is archaic and should not be practised in the 21st century. |
Soludo is a well-rounded technocrat. But character is another thing. |
SaharaReporters did a detailed report on the President' s medical trips. Good work.
|
Cool. But it looks more like a glorified college.
|
There is nothing to kick about. Open grazing is obsolete.
|
There is no need to wash dirty linens in public. Let the law take its course.

All is politics and politrics.

She was thoughtful briefly. “I will see what I can do. You may not get the whole money once, but in the few days, you will get the sum you said. All the same, by tomorrow morning, I will send some money to your account. You have to send me your account details.’’ He nodded. “I’ll do so, immediately.’’ He brought out his phone and sent one of his private account numbers to her cell phone. Then, he kissed her good night. She went home in her BMW while he rode his CRV to is Ogba residence. To him, it was a very satisfying night. As he was going to bed, he received a text message. It was a bank alert informing him that a sum of five-hundred thousand naira had been deposited into his account. Joy could not even wait till the following morning before paying the money as she had said. Cyril grinned to himself. The money was far less than what he had asked for, but it was not bad. This was just the beginning of good things to come. He would have called to thank her but she said she should be the one to be initiating calls. Once again, he grinned to himself. * * * Stanley’s sleek Lamborghini Veneno drove inside the posh compound and parked under one of the canopies that shielded various exotic cars. At forty, worth billions of naira in cash and assets, Stanley was indeed a wealthy, young man that was cynosure of eyes anywhere he went. He picked his briefcase and got out of the chauffeur-driven car. As he entered the main building, Eno came to meet him. “Welcome, sir,” she curtsied, stretching her hands to take the briefcase from him. “How’re you?’ “Fine, sir.” She preceded him upstairs to the master bedroom. Eno placed the briefcase close to one of the wardrobes. “Joy is not around?” he asked. “She, sir. She went out not long ago. She said she would soon be back.” He nodded and sighed. Eno retreated out of the room. As Stanley removed his clothes to change into casuals, he wondered about the behavior of his wife, Joyce. Lately, she had become erratic and he found it difficult to vouch for her faithfulness. It was about a year ago that he married her as his second wife. Joyce had all the looks and the glamor to win his heart. She made him change his mind about detesting polygamy. Despite great opposition from Stella, his first wife, Stanley had gone ahead to take Joyce as his lawfully wedded wife. The union was yet to produce a child, but that did not bother him one bit. With Stella, he already had three kids. Joyce must be seeing another man, he told himself. But how could she do that? In fact, how dare her? Despite all the comforts and pampering he had put at her disposal, she still had the audacity to meet another man! Why were some ladies never satisfied? He decided he would have to confront her. There was no way he would condone unfaithfulness from her. He would confront her and give her ultimate. If she remained recalcitrant, then he would send her packing. That would be the easiest thing to do. He soon moved down to the grand sitting-room. “Eno,” he called. “Yes, sir.” The answer came from the kitchen. “Get me a pack of apple juice and some cookies.” “Yes, sir.” In some seconds, she came with a tray containing a pack of apple juice, a glass cup and a plate containing cookies. “Thanks.” “Yes, sir.” While he munched the snacks and took the juice, he thought over Joyce again. marrying her was becoming a mistake. Why had he not stuck to his first wife and maintained the string of mistresses he had? Marrying Joyce was the latter’s idea. The Lady in Red: https://okadabooks.com/book/about/the_lady_in_red/40472 |
Onome and Dele made plans to go to Warri during Christmas break for him to meet her parents. She wanted to "break him in" riding horses so he could see her favorite remote parts of the ranch. Her goal was to introduce him to ranch life and pray that he would like it. Onome worked many hours on her paintings; preparing for the February senior art show the university would be sponsoring. Bukky and Tade's love for each other continued to evolve and mature. Vivian spent many days with her and the role of mummy played a large and growing part of Bukky's life. The video business boomed. Demand for the quality of work she produced was very high for the soft-core romantic videos. This artistic portrayal of sex, as Roli predicted, was preferred instead of the hard-core stuff like you see everywhere on the Internet. She still did the hard-core scenes as requested, but they were not as in demand as first estimated. Bukky was asked by five students to do family legacy videos featuring parents and grandparents. She also was booked for her first wedding shoot in June. The business was strong and Bukky's schedule was becoming difficult to manage. Tade talked again to Deola and was very pleased with what she told him. She had found a job at a hospital in the city and was hired to help counsel patients. Her troubled past was considered to be perfect for the role and she embraced the opportunity to help others overcome the addiction like she had battled. Part of the job was for her to share her background and describe what drug abuse had cost her. This testimony was intended to encourage the patients by letting them see Deola currently versus where she had been. Deola continued to lean on her faith to get through every day. She saw herself in many of the patients, and this brought back many ugly memories. The most important thing, Tade thought, was that Deola had met a real estate agent who was a hospital patient and they were instantly attracted to each other. Tade thought that a new relationship for her would be an answer to many prayers. Deola did not bring up the subject of seeing Vivian. Tade thought she had accepted his decision. Something very unpleasant happened the week before Christmas. Tade was taking a morning nap at Bukky's house when his phone rang. It was his mummy. "Hello Mummy." All he could hear was her crying. She tried several times to talk but couldn't get the words out. A man then came on the phone. "Mr. Sunmonu." "What's wrong?" "This is Sergeant Ayo Norman. I'm with the Ikorodu Police Department. Your daughter Vivian has been kidnapped and your mother has been injured." "What?" Tade screamed and began whimpering. "Two men forced their way into the house, struck and tied up Mrs. Sunmonu and took Vivian. Can you come here and meet with us? Your father is on the way here now."
