Dkfpaul:Philosophy is on the Premier Faculty of Arts, so I think you won't be faced with mathematics but if any it won't bit ![]() |
Dkfpaul:Yes! Completely allowed. Also,am i d one to chose the course i need to do by myselfYes, there is a list of courses from which you are to select from. also,do i have to achieve a particular gp inorder to switch to pol.sci? For Political Science, its not clear because the rate people transfer to POS is very low, try to make around 60+(percent in a 4.0 CGPA System), then you shouldn't have much troubles. |
thorpido:That contract has long been terminated na, Nike assumed sponsorship role for years now. keep up man |

What I meant is, firstly, they have to sign and approve your transfer to another department, without your HOD's signature, you can't make the switch. Secondly, to be able to switch in your Second Year, you have to register and take Courses from Political Science Department that will give you foundation as those in 200L(they too would have done these courses in their First Year of studies) |
Dkfpaul:The HOD of ur department has to let you go and Political Science has to let you in. You have to take Pos Courses like Pos111, Pos112, Pos113 and Pos114 in your 100L |
Dkfpaul:Okay, the combination is okay. Just put in the efforts and Pray God see you through. |
sirgalahad26:You're welcome. Good, pray too. |
DROLA11:90mins for 100 questions I guess, I've forgotten though. Will ask my other colleagues to be sure |
Dkfpaul:Political Science is tough but offers good employment opportunity slightly more than Philosophy can offer you. Also consider if you have the right UTME combination before making the switch if you want to go ahead with it. |
azora:2yrs ago, a candidate with 201 score in Jamb was admitted to study Medicine after scoring 74+ during post UTME. Keep the Faith. |
admnademola:Ignore this guy, just pick what best serve your purpose and forget him. Likely to be a scammer. |
sirgalahad26:Use of English will still be your Lexis and structure, sound, stress and orals etc as in UTME, CRK will still be based from selected themes as in the Jamb brochure(don't be surprise they'll ask you 'What is the name of the wood used by Noah to build the Ark?). Yoruba will still be like Use of English, while Literature in English will test your knowledge on General Literary Appreciation, Figures of Speech, some randomly selected text(2yrs ago, Joys of Motherhood was selected), Shakespearian Text will be given too. Some form of Greek, Roman or French Literature may feature too. Read like you've not read at all, and practice using past questions. All the best. |
rexendowed:Experience? Lol! It count very little, be prepared as per your subjects you registered for. Know what you ought to know, no calculator allowed for calculation based subjects. |
rexendowed:First thing you have to know is University of Ibadan has announced to conduct post UTME as it preferred method for admitting suitable candidate this year. Yes, 262 should let you sit for the exam(and there you write the script of your fate). Sincerely, this presently year 1 students are not really living up to the expectations of the school Senate. And in UI, to be admitted you MUST score 50+ before being considered for admission. Medicine has stood at over 70 in the past 3yrs and counting. Expect the toughest competition and get ready to be usurped by people with lower UTME scores |
Richdee1:My deduction from your post is that you want backup plans for this year's admission exercise. From your Jamb score, you have a good score there(which put you on a vantage position) so be encouraged, you can still get admission into Uniben and Auchipoly if you work hard and pray harder too, your backup institutions will likely be State owned tertiary institutions, firstly some schools will have to agree to accept candidates that didn't apply or choose them while registering for this year UTME. I'll try to check on schools that might likely accept candidates without them choosing them during registration. Keep faith in yourself. |
UI is dry, we didn't resume 2nd semester before ASUU strike, so nothing going on here, except for NASU and other Union workers who are fully functional. Only a handful of the Baluba faithfuls and likely those that stay far from IB are still around. Our lecturers sha. ![]() |
On the Recently Announced cut off Marks of 120 for University Admission: our position in UI. By - Sunday Saanu - Media Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan. The Management of the University of Ibadan wishes to inform the public about the recently announced cut off marks of 120 for University Admission that UI will not lower her standards. A statement from the Vice Chancellor's office indicates that the Nigeria's premier university still maintains her position in academic excellence and standards in order to continue to aspire towards becoming a world-class university. It should worry us as patriots that candidates who scored just 30% in UTME can be admitted into some of our universities. Yet, we complain of poor quality of our graduates. You can hardly build something on nothing. The consolation here is that since JAMB started conducting this qualifying exam in 1978, UI has never admitted any candidate who scored less than 200 marks out of the maximum 400 marks. This translates to a minimum of 50%. This remains our position as an institution aspiring to be world-class. Reality is that only about four other universities in the country have such high standard. To that extent, apart from being the oldest, we are an elite university in the country at least judging by the quality of our intakes. In fairness to the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, he repeatedly stressed at the Combined Policy Meeting held Tuesday, 22 August 2017 that the Senate of each university still has wide powers for admission in the spirit of autonomy. It is also gratifying to note that the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who chaired the meeting, apologized publicly for canceling Post UTME Screening last year. In effect, universities are now allowed to conduct PostUTME test, using modalities approved by the Senate of each institution. To be fair to the incumbent Registrar of JAMB, he was not the Registrar when the policy somersault of cancelling POST UTME test was made last year. Prof Oloyede's appointment was effective 1 August 2016, while the Policy Meeting for that year had held some two months earlier. As strongly canvassed by us at every opportunity, for UI, the need to admit the best admission seekers is the primary motivation for POST UTME test and not money, even though we do not pretend that you can run any university so properly called without funds. |
Jacktheripper:Very correct sir, and/or Further Mathematics. |
dignityikhis:Kindly know that the ongoing strike will affect this year's post utme exercise, and also so, UI allow registration to run for 4-6weeks. Start to prepare, Undergraduate Admission can not start anything except the Senate sits and okay anything, and that has not happened recently. |
TheHistorian:Yes, sure will stick around more. As God has willed it o, yes. In part 2 now. @Wuminity, e dey allowed. Sha hope you're enjoying the break? |
geegirl109:Law in UI requires English, CRK/IRK, Literature in English and Government/History. Nigerian languages can substitute for Religion or Literature, but on rare occasions though. Verify through the link. http://ui.edu.ng/New-Regulations-and-JAMB-Revised-requirement |
skillful01:http://ui.edu.ng/New-Regulations-and-JAMB-Revised-requirement verify through the link |
Richdee1:Simply no. On the other hand, you wrote jamb this year? what was your score? If no, you can post your preferred course so that we then know which university y to recommend for you. |
augster:Very good, make it your last push bro, the story no dey funny again o. All the same, best of luck this time around. My side just dry o, thank God say UI dey sama us better light, not too boring. And ASUU no dey help matter too. |
