Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has offered her deepest condolences to Mrs. Pauline Tallen, former Deputy Governor of Plateau state, over the death of her husband, Elder John Katkwap Tallen, who passed away at 83. She described him as an elder statesman, whose contributions to national development would not be forgotten.

She was speaking during a condolence visit to the home of the late statesman, in Abuja, yesterday , praying God to repose his soul and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Mrs. Buhari was received by the widow, Mrs. Pauline Tallen,and other close family members and friends. Mrs. Tallen is a close associate of Mrs. Buhari.

Earlier in the day, Mrs. Buhari also visited the home of Engr. Buba Galadima to offer condolences over the death of his son, Aliyu Buba Galadima, who died in a road accident recently.

She described the death of the young man as very tragic and prayed Almighty Allah to grant him access into paradise.

Mrs. Buhari was accompanied on the visits by wife of the Governor of Nasarawa state, Hajiya Mairo Tanko Almakura, wife of Zamfara state Governor, Asmaú Yari, wives of service chiefs and many others.

The Federal Government has named the newly established Nigerian Army shooting range at the Sambisa forest after the late Lt.-Col. Abu Ali. Abu Ali, who was the commander of an army formation at Mallam Fatori in Borno east, died in a battle on Nov. 4, 2016, when Boko Haram terrorists attempted to invade and take the town.

President Muhammadu Buhari who also paid tribute to the gallant men and women who have paid the supreme price in the fight against insurgency and criminal elements across the country said this yesterday shortly after declaring open the 2017 Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship ( NASAC ) at Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

The commander in chief of the Nigerian Armed forces who was represented by the Minister of Defence , Brig Gen Munsur Dan Ali ( rtd) said the championship is a showcase of the clear defeat and degradation of the Boko Haram terrorist group with the destruction of camp zero in the Sambisa Forest.

Meanwhile, beginning from 2017, December 22 of every year is to be marked as SAMBISA MEMORIAL DAY which will be public holiday in Borno State for the purpose of remembering victims of Boko Haram insurgents, the victory recorded by the Nigerian Military, and the remembrance of fallen soldiers and volunteers who sacrificed their lives fighting Boko Haram since 2009 in different parts of Borno State.

Borno Governor, Kashim Shettima announced this on Monday inside the Sambisa Forest at the opening of the Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship which is currently holding at the Forest that used to be taken over from insurgents. Shettima said December 22 was chosen for the annual public holiday because it was on December 22, 2016 that the Nigerian Armed Forces took over the Sambisa Forest from Boko Haram insurgents after a tough battle.

Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi State, has released a short video footage to troll his "haters" after it was confirmed by the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Ibrahim Garba, that he graduated from the school. Mr. Garba made the confirmation at an investigative hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges on Monday.

In the footage which he shared on his Instagram page, the senator can be heard saying 'you speak the truth, you die, you lie, you die, I Dino Melaye have chosen to speak the truth and die'...

After saying this, the senator began dancing as he trolled his opposition/haters.

Here are photos of the some of the victims who were poisoned over the weekend at an eatery in Ogoja, Cross River state. The suspect, Paul Armond, who has been arrested by the police, poisoned the food which killed 2 persons and landed 50 in hospitals..

The victims who are currently receiving treatment at the Ogoja General Hospital. Their relations and friends were seen in front of the wards housing them. They all looked visibly worried with many unanswered questions all over their faces.

The suspect, according to reports, poisoned the customers as a way of getting back at them for an undisclosed reason.
