Has FG ever explained why they have not implemented previous agreements with ASUU? Today they are asking lecturers to go and teach online, with what? Those of you who see NEEDS assessment projects, as well as ETF projects on campuses, fail to understand that FG only wakes up to do the right thing when ASUU goes on strike. When they finally release funds for those projects is it for ASUU? Is FG trying to say they do not have a database of all ASUU staff in universities? Are they saying with they do not have instruments to track lecturers with multiple salary sources? There is money paid to IPPIS contractors for each civil servant paid on their platform. As for staff with multiple salaries, FG is not ready to recruit and they are still the ones that handle accreditation through NUC are they saying they cannot track these lecturers? FG is just raising dust now because COVID-19 is still giving them cover before it clears if una get sense better tell una uncle for aso rock whether they even don try to equip schools with online teaching aids. It is time for some people here to stop making silly comments about ASUU and tell your government to equip schools with hostels, modern equipment, and library sources before you start blaming ASUU.

It is quite obvious that many people spewing venom do not really understand the laws that govern the university system. ASUU during GEJ's era rejected it, they reached a compromise and GIFMIS software was created to handle staff salaries and the likes because as at that time provisions were not made for certain transactions made in the system to be handled. ASUU has challenged the proponents of IPPIS to show how the program works which they could not. ; Letts face it, ASUU is made of professionals and they know that the software is being marketed by individuals just like REMITA and some people would sit at their homes and be fatting fat for every transaction done on the software. There are laws existing before now that grant universities autonomy just like in other universities in the civilized world and this was affirmed by Chief Afe Babablola a renowned legal luminary. If he can advocate that and some of u are here running your mouths about personal matters between a student and lecturer which is outside the scope of what is being discussed, kindly keep mute and look at the critical issues on ground.

The question is why is the FG in a hurry to add ASUU to IPPIS? Ask civil servants who are receiving wages through the payment system and they will tell u it is filled with inefficiency. If for instance they made a mistake on your payment for a month, na to go Abuja go rectify the thing and u will spend days plus bribe. Go and find out. The laws are clear on FG/ASUU agreement in 1992 which made the university councils the employer of university staff and this ensures autonomy for the institutions. If FG must change the status quo then let either the courts or lawmakers decide. They tried this before and lost out, that was why they created GIFMIS to be the payment platform for university staff.
