Politics › Re: John Atte Becomes New Customs Boss (Acting) by Caveatemptor(m): 11:23am On Aug 19, 2015
jaymichael:
IMO, John Atte shouldn't be confirmed CGC. I remembered when he was comptroller at Apapa, he doesn't come to the office, people complain about him a lot. He also acts like "freaking junkie" he only rose to the post of DCG as a result of him being Jona's kinsman. He rose from comptroller to DCG in less than 2 years. He enjoyed too much rapid promotion. He was always Jona's choice for CGC but for political pressures he had to retain Dikko Inde. Atte is just there in acting capacity as the most senior customs officer. If he is eventually confirmed (which I doubt), his administration may be worse than Dikko's except he changes his attitude to work in line with this dispensation of CHANGE. I don't see Atte leading the customs service effectively, though I have nothing personal against him, his actions as APAPA Comptroller is just too appalling for him to lead the service.
Thank you sir,
You are well informed. Atte is an appendage of Dikko Inde-the same six and half dozen. In fact the whole management team should be cleared out and the next Comptroller General chosen from the Comptroller ranks if President Buhari truely and honestly wants to battle corruption in the Customs Service.
Politics › Re: BREAKING : Customs Comptroller General Abdullahi Inde Resigns by Caveatemptor(m): 2:40pm On Aug 17, 2015
My own worry about Abdullahi lnde Dikko,is that it will be paying lip service to the war on corruption if this character is allowed to resign and get away to enjoy his ill gotten wealth in piece because he is from Katsina state like the President.
Many officers died in penury because they were denied their retirement benefits while Dikko flew all over the world laundering the proceeds of his ill gotten wealth and economic sabotage.
I know almost all the Emirs in the North and Newspaper editors are on his payroll but there must be NO soft landing for this guy. He must face trial and regurgitate all he has swallowed.
No way to tribal soft landing for Dikko.

Jenny1010 reminds me so much of a poster called Amya. Lots of fake stories.
For your information this story has revolved around clubs and bars in Unilag for ages.
We used to debate about it back in the day in a hypothetical way.
Decades old story.

It would be a sin against humanity ifthis man is allowed to escape by resigning to enjoy his illicit loot. This man is oneofthe most corrupt civil servants that ever served in this country. From economic sabotage to money laundering,to certificate forgery,to turning the service to his personal empire and fiefdom, where he promotedhis vassals to positions of authority without due process. Most Emirs in the North are on his payroll andhe dished out seized vehicles with reckless abandon. Most newspaper editors were also on his payroll so bad stories about him were suppressed. He was a complete menace to society.
He promoted terrorism by allowinghis god father Dahiru Mangal importtruck loads of arms and ammunition weekly through Jibiya border weekly with reckless abandon.
This man is richer than some states in this country. He should not be allowed to hand over to one of this surrogate vassals whom he promoted illegally over their seniorsin the service. In fact the whole top echelons of the Customs need to be cleared out.
Politics › Re: Buhari Orders MDAs To Run Treasury Single Account by Caveatemptor(m): 9:21am On Aug 10, 2015
While I agree that Mr Jonathan initiated this programme it is important to note that he refused to punish or reprimand any government agency that refused to toe the line. As with other issues of corrupt practices,Mr Jonathan just sat there in his black Fedora hat and watched while his associates continually broke the law and disobeyed his express orders with reckless abandon and continually and serially raped the economy of this nation.
The difference between Mr Jonathan and President Buhari is the body language. The new President will NOT condone corruption. Once your subordinates know this for a fact, every other thing will fall in place.

This guy, trying to explain away his act of betrayal of sleeping with his friends teenage daughter placed in his care, is even more sick and obnoxious than the act itself.
For freaks sake, dude, you are 44 freaking years old, man.
A girl of 18,according to your tale by moonlight, asked you to be free with her and touched your manhood and you succumbed?
You should have shouted at her, admonished and corrected her. That would have been the thing a man of honour would do,but since you are a dishonourable piece of trash, you had to bang her to satisfy your sick craving for teenage flesh.

This man is a certificate forger and a money launderer. He is richerthan some state governments and has spent all his lifein government employment. His mansion in Katsina State is a folklore among civil servants.
He needs to be retired and tried for economic sabotage asap.
He totally personified the Customs dept. He is the most corrupt civil servant in Nigeriatoday and implmented selective promotions of his totally unqualified stooges in all positions of authority, from wherethey make mafia kind of fraudulent returns to him every week in US dollars.

It shows the kind of people running this forum. This match was played on Sunday August 2nd,so bringing this thread to the front page on tuesday August 4th is belated since the thread is a predictive thread.
There are so many more relevant threads in all the sections hidden away while this is moved to the front page?
Mind boggling.

Karma is a b1tch.
This old chick was the Toke Makinwa of the late 90s without the internet. She used to run a silly column in either Hearts or Hints or Encomium, where she wrote about her sexcapades and advised young girls how to hook up with sugar daddies and how to wack their money. She also used to advise young girls on how to procure abortions if they got knocked up and other senseless stuff. It is fair to say she has been around the block a fair number of times and to top it up she has been divorced once.
Now she is dumped by this 35 year old guy and you make a dumb video where you are bawling your eyes out and you expect to be taken serious?
You are no spring chicken. Any guy who read this broads write ups in her columns would be outright foolish to marry her.
Why calling God to punish this guy for your promiscuous and whoring life.
You made your bed. Lay on it. Get some freaking self esteem and move on with your godd@m life.
Next time you wanna make a dumb video, please put on some make up and wear a wig or something...
Quite frankly she looks unhinged and may need to see a shrink.

99% of churches today are operating as businesses. They have no space for the poor. Most of them have special pews for their rich members to the detriment of the poor members.
They are not good shepherds taking care of the sheep. Simple.

@Themadame,
I am not implying anything except the fact that Mr President is aware of the activities of Mangal because primarily it takes place in his backyard of Katsina State. He has no right to claim ignorance. He should act. Boko Haram could be funded through cross border smuggling and Boko Haram could be armed when giant trucks cross the border without being checked simples.
Politics › Re: Dahiru Mangal And His Grip On Nigeria Customs Service.. by Caveatemptor(op): 11:38am On Jun 23, 2015
@Themadame,
As much as I respect your opinion and admit your entitlement to it,Prrsident Buhari can not claim ignorance of the activities of Dahiru Mangal in his back yard of Katsina State.
President Buhari was sworn in over three weeks ago and this fraudulent activity of Mangal has not stopped for one day. Can he claim ignorance of Mangals activities at Jibiya border? Can he claim he is ignorant of Comptroller General Dikkos tacit support of Mangals fraudulent activities?
We claim to be fighting Boko Haram, yet we allow one individual to bring gigantic Trucks across the border and no single examination of these trucks is carried out by Customs. What if these trucks are loaded with arms and ammunition?
The President has no right to claim ignorance of these activities in his Katsina backyard.

I feel the government has to got to go after openly corrupt economic saboteurs like Mangal and the Comptroller General of the Customs Service Dikko.
Note that all these corrupt guys are from Katsina State where Mr President Buhari hails from.
Mr Buhari can not claim ignorance of the monumental economic sabotage going on at Jibiya border station.

Politics › Dahiru Mangal And His Grip On Nigeria Customs Service.. by Caveatemptor(op):
ON CUSTOMS’ RAID IN KANOCategory: Opinion

Considering the phenomenon of indiscriminate smuggling, the sheer volume and the monetary value of smuggled items flooding Nigerian markets, one shouldn’t be surprised at the alarming rates at which the countries’ already struggling industries collapse, which discourages entrepreneurship, creates unemployment and consequently unleashes grinding poverty.

The surprising, or rather, the unfortunately ironic aspect of the situation is that, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), which is supposed to prevent and tackle smuggling, has not only failed to deliver but many of its officials are actually involved in facilitating the smuggling of contraband items into the country.
The blatant involvement of the officials of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), of course with the exception of a few honest and patriotic personnel, in facilitating systematic smuggling into the country undermines and will inevitably continue to frustrate the country’s efforts to build a competitive economy. Their occasional intensification of their purported efforts to curb smuggling is a mere ploy designed to further extort the smugglers and in the meantime show off their hypocritical commitment to fight the phenomenon.
By the way, contrary to the assumption that smuggling persists in the country because Nigerian businessmen simply prefer to engage in it, and that Nigerians always prefer foreign goods also, it is actually the failure of the successive governments to provide adequate and efficient infrastructure e.g. stable and sufficient power supply, necessarily needed to create and attain economic competitiveness that practically pushed many Nigerian businessmen into smuggling in the first place. This is because in the absence of such infrastructure, it is practically impossible for locally made goods to compete with imported goods in terms of price and quality, which is also the primary reason why Nigerian consumers prefer the imported goods.
Anyway, the recent raid and seizure of reportedly more than 300 billion naira worth of textile materials by officials of the Nigeria Customs
Service (NCS) in Kano was yet another attempt in that regard. Besides, as expected, they are right now releasing the seized goods to their owners after they agreed to pay some negotiable amounts of money in lieu of the
Customs duties they had evaded. One can therefore imagine the amount of *cuwa-cuwa *being currently committed in this opaque arrangement.
The age-long collaboration between many corrupt officials of the NCS, who obviously hugely outnumber the honest ones, and some dishonest middlemen who have jointly facilitated smuggling into the country has now grown into an organized and sophisticated crime perpetrated by many NCS officials and some unscrupulous businessmen masquerading as clearing agents.
This situation is particularly scandalous in the northern part of the country where a notorious Katsina-born billionaire has practically monopolised this illegal business for more than a decade within which he built the largest single smuggling business empire in Nigeria and perhaps the west African sub region, if not the whole Africa, for that matter.
He has dominated the smuggling route into the country through its northern boundaries, which is perhaps the most lucrative smuggling route in the country. The route starts all the way from Cotonou seaport in the neighbouring Benin Republic where thousands of shipping containers of contraband items imported by Nigerians from Asia, the Middles East, Europe and America, are unloaded on their way to Nigeria. The containers are then transported by trucks through Niger Republic via Katsina state border towns to their final destinations in Kano and other parts of Nigeria.
What is particularly ironic about this notorious smuggler is his sheer resistance against any attempt to compete with him in this illegal business. He is said to be extremely harsh against whoever dares to engage in this business on this route. In fact, he has reportedly punished many people who have attempted to secretly try their luck in it, by getting all their smuggled goods confiscated by the Customs officials. Tales about his huge influence and the extent of his formidability are very common among top importers and other businessmen who deal in imported items particularly in northern Nigeria.
It is obvious anyway that, considering the sheer magnitude of his illegal business, the brazen way and the blatant impunity with which it is perpetrated on a daily basis for more than a decade, he couldn’t have achieved this without the involvement of many powerful officials within the NCS, the corridors of power in several states and the federal government who he apparently induces with huge financial inducements. This, after all, explains the enormous goodwill he enjoys among the top politicians in the country, the most influential traditional rulers in the region and even among the top religious clerics.
However, since the previous governments failed, or rather, simply refused to tame this notorious smuggler for obvious reasons, the situation is now expected to change under President Muhammadu Buhari who is expected to tame him and his cronies within the NCS, in the context of his anti corruption drive, which he probably prepares to launch soon.
