Bennni: Hi Active minds! Please I just want to confirm is it possible for a single guy to work and pay the rest of his school fees with 20hours per week ?
His tuition fees balance is 5700pounds
He is expected to pay half by November and the rest by January
Please the guy doesn’t have dependent and he’s on the verge of giving up the whole process cause he feels like 20hours won’t cut it for him, knowing fully well he still have some other bills to pay like accommodation, feeding and transport.
The school is Uni of Derby Please I want to ask if it is attainable to raise the rest of the tuition fees which is 5700 pounds within September to January working 20hours
Thanks I’ll await your responses In calculating your projected hourly income, put into consideration income tax. In the UK, for an hourly gross pay of £9.50 you get a net pay of around £7 or slightly more. The truth is, a weekly 20hrs can never be sustainable for a single student, hence the need both the school and ukvi require you to show your POF. This is why people like us are going with our partners . Most students resort to cutting corners which land them into trouble (PSW denial) while some get away with it. How they get away with it is something that is totally unprofessional and shouldn't be discussed here. Chose your poison wisely mate |

Or I can apply it separately in 3 months time from September when they want to come over please i need your advice I'm for September intake, I'm not going with them now because of funds but by 3 months time from September I'll have funds to bring them POF and all If you wish to go first and bring them in 3 months time, then you will start your visa application alone now. Maybe start their own whenever their POF is ready. Please don't fail to indicate that you are married with a child when filling your own visa application. |

babajide107: i got a conditional offer for anglia ruskin for msc forensic science..how is this university like, the community and chances of getting a job while schooling..i am a chemistry major actually..is forensic good for job hunting in the UK after masters I have an offer from them too. Which of the campuses are you going to? My brother, here is the good side. ARU is one of the highly ranked universities. Number 38 in the UK. 300 to 350 in the world. You can imagine how good they are.You would get £1,000 discount if u finish paying your fees b4 July 1. Here is the bad side sort of. Accommodation is a little bit expensive. They don't have a flexible tuition fee payment plan. £4000 deposit and 60% before enrolment that is why most Nigerians shy away from ARU. However, ARU was my first choice and I am definitely sticking with them because there are plenty quality job opportunities as it is not too far away from London. I'm about to pay my deposit. Happy choosing! |

The best strategy is to come with your partner. Joint income will go a long way. Just be ready to work. hosey: Lol. Another thing many of these guys don't know is tax. Once you earn above 50000 pounds, your tax rate will be 40% of your revenue.
So no matter how much you work, the government still benefits. This also includes self-employment.
Most of these people thought this is Nigeria where they do not pay any tax. They also dont know that the average salary in the UK in 2022 is £29,600 per year. After tax and national insurance you will be left with £23,768. This means that after tax you will take home £1,981 every month. When you consider rent, car, utility bills, council tax, wife and children, family obligations, you might have no savings. Most white people survive on credit with their credit card. All what you see they buy is on credit and it is not theirs. All these iphones, car, mortgaged house, TV, apple laptop and many more are on credit. Once you default, the real owner will collect everything from you. Then you will go homeless.
Make informed decision before you come to the UK. No one is discouraging you but be aware so you wont regret. |

bazzyblings: Thanks for responding , no I’m not legally married … I want to go with my wife to be , but I’m not ok with getting married in the court .. and I guess that’s the only way one can carry along a dependent .. so I’m asking now if any other documents or any other certificate can be used instead of the court marriage certificate… as I don’t want to get married in the court Going by UK immigration laws concerning this, you don't have to be legally married to your partner. It is either you are married or you are in civil partnership with the person. You need to prove such partnership beyond doubts. Speak to experts for more information. |

Thank you for this piece bro Joe6648: U people who think you can dissuade the average Nigerian from the japa movement by sounding discouraging or like it will be a very difficult and challenging experience, u are greatly wasting your time, the more you dissuade the more interested and propelled a Nigerian become, trust me some of us av seen worst. Ask those Nigerians who refused to comeback from a war striking country like Ukraine, some felt it was way better to die their than to come back, imagine that.... Anyway, firstly, their are various categories of people living this country; The rich, who can afford not just to invest in their children but invest for them as well, these ones can come home cos they have it both ways. The second, those who can invest in their children but not for them (mostly the average Nigerian) these ones don't see a country with a vision, they have seen Nigeria rapidly decline to what it is today, from good to bad to worst, and are afraid that the future holds no favorable plans or outcome for their offsprings so they invest in them in countries with a vision that is favorable base on their subjective idea of what is a favorable future for their children. Lastly the have not, they mostly have to borrow to invest in their children's future, they suffered from the deteriorating educational, financial, political and all round system of Nigeria, so they av a very traumatic nd negatively impacted idea of Nigeria as a result of being at the bottom, and are therefore willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their offsprings don't experience the same hardships as they did. Whichever category you find yourself will influence your idea/perception of the Japa movement. No perception is similar, but please no one should negate or sound reductive about other peoples reasons to want to japa, it all comes from somewhere, all we should do as a community that strives to be better than the ones before us is to help each other make the best decisions for the japa movement not to sound discouraging or reductive, but support with infor or tangibles to help each other get the best from this japa movement. If you see someone doing it the wrong way try to support not just scold and talk from a place of privilege but from understanding, all fingers no dey equal yet Na only together dey fit carry something. Success to all our japa movement plans.... |

Solatium: I repeat na poverty dey drive people, take it or leave it, being a nurse or Dr does not immune you against poverty,a university professor is not a ticket to huge wealth,if you think i am lying check the salaries of university professor in uk,most of them are around £32,000 -£45,000. When I say poverty,it is not the absence of money alone, poverty of the mind is the worse which is more rampant these days, it has to do with what has been ingrained into our brains, your "Rich Boss" who abandoned his business to seek PR is only rich in currency but not in business or managerial acumen,he must have been those who suddenly found themselves on top. Lastly, you see those who are leaving because you are hell bent on leaving, because that is the only thing that make sense to you,no qualms, but i see so many who are back from the same journey. Those business ideas and innovations you see around are the handiwork of returnees, some of the best specialist Hospitals you see around today are own by them, the finance house's,the Fintechs, the IT Servicing companies, the oil servicing companies, the independent Media and what have you. I am not against any going anywhere, but i can assure you that in 10yrs time you will be back to same Nigeria to come and make money/impact. Just go and add value to yourself but no too put mind Sure bro !! |

Solatium: Make una stop this stupid deception jare, which children? if you tell me you are in search of Greener pasture yourself i won't be crossed, this lies of using the children is stale. Some children will never leave this country and they will be better than those raised abroad,na every pikin wey Dem raise abroad dey turn better? I am not against giving your child the best, the best are here in Nigeria,na poverty dey drive everyone joor, but i will caution all of you not to raise your hope unnecessarily, some of you will be disappointed when you meet that reality abroad. Abroad no be paradise! be warned Which best is in Nigeria biko? Do you knw how many doctors and nurses who have left Nigeria within the past 12 months? All public universities have been on strike for sometime now. Most professor are even leaving. I strongly disagree with you on your statement "na poverty dey drive everyone". Presently, my boss with all his money and wealth has been in the UK with his wife for 4 months now in pursuit of PR. Him too dey poor abi? My former emplyer's children all schooled in the UK. Still poverty abi? This over N30m wey pesin like me wan use japa (family of 4), would you also say na poverty? My dear, I still maintain that if you have kids, the best thing you can do for them is to give them foreign citizenship (like Uk). Nothing is guaranteed but take the first step fess |

Edwosa: @Jummy let me answer you so you can move on... (although, this is my personal opinion I'm not an expert o)
From the little I've learned, here are the pros and cons of placement:
Pros It means your school will help you secure it. And for placements, aside the experience you're exposed to, it can lead to you sucuring a role with the firm when your placement is over. Employers tend to prefer applicants with experience when recruiting.
Cons IHS fees will almost double. Because your course duration is now longer than 1 year. Again, nowadays with the PSW visa, most people feel placement isn't all that needed. But consider your school, with their industry connections helping you search for a placement (that can lead to a job) as compared to an individual searching alone. When I considered the huge cost implication of placement especially for a family of 4 like mine, I ran for my life. Two years PSW will surely fetch one a job by God's grace. |
