advanceDNA:Lol..it is most likely that the cash worker is on drugs actually. I saw the mail with my eyes. The assertions made by the case worker was false: That, I selected visa duration of 3 years or below while my COS is for 3 years and above. My COS is for 6145 and it's eligible for HCW. I just don't know why the case worker totally neglected it and took it for an ordinary SW visa. I wonder when SOC 6145 became an ordinary SW visa. And again, if they neglected HCW I applied, how come they didn't tell me to pay for IHS? |
Elders in the house, after one week of submitting my Skilled Worker Visa (HCW), Home Office sent a mail to my operations mgr (my sponsor). Please note that I clearly indicated health and care Visa on my Visa application for 3 years and above and not below 3 years, as home office wrote. (See the attached). My COS clearly stated 6145 as my SOC code and i'm eligible for HCW. I don't know why the case worker mistook my HCW application for an ordinary Skilled worker visa thereby telling me to pay a higher application fee. See the mail from Home office below and kindly advise me: "THE ABOVE APPLICANT HAS NOT SUBMITTED A VALID IMMIGRATION APPLICATION You have attempted to make an application for permission to stay in the United Kingdom. The application is not yet valid. We have set out below what is missing from your application. You must provide all of the missing information within 10 working days from the date of this e-mail otherwise your application will be rejected as invalid. What is missing Incorrect or no fee paid The specified fee has not been paid. You can find information on our current fees at https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/how-much-it-costs The statement below provides more detail about your failure to pay the specified fee and the steps you must now take to validate your application. Although you have made a payment, it is not the correct amount. You must now pay the balance of £533. Please now follow the instructions in the guidance notes on the application form and send a completed payment slip with the balance amount. You must complete all sections of the payment slip attached. The reason you need to pay this additional fee is : You have indicated on your Visa Application Form that you have applied for a visa for 3 years and under. However, your Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) has been issued for over 3 years. As a result, the incorrect application fee has been paid. Please complete the attached form and send it to worksponsoreddocumentrequests@homeoffice.gov.uk within 10 working days quoting your application reference. Should you wish to pay the top-up fee of by cheque please send the cheque, together with the completed payment slip to the address stated below:- Department 600 UKVI The Capital Old Hall Street Liverpool L3 9PP When we have received a completed valid application, we will consider it in accordance with the Immigration Rules and published policies. If you require further advice about your eligibility under the Immigration Rules, visit our website at www.gov.uk/uk-visas-immigration. Consequences if you do not provide this information If we do not receive this missing information within 10 days of the date of this letter, even if you have already enrolled your biometrics, your application will be rejected as invalid. If your leave has expired, you will become an overstayer. From the 18 March 2016, new fees regulations will allow the Home Office to retain an administration fee on in country charged applications that are rejected as invalid. The fee is £25 per person included in the application. If you do not provide the missing information requested in this letter, your application will be rejected as invalid and the Home Office will refund your payment, minus the administration fee. If you submit a new application, the date of that application will be the date that it is posted, delivered by courier or accepted at a premium service centre. Tier4Dependant:Thanks bro. I appreciate |
Efftyy:Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. Friends, who has switched visas within the UK. How long did it take |
Hi friends, has anyone applied for a skilled worker visa within the UK of recent ( as in switched] ? How long is the current waiting time on the average? I know it says it takes within 8 weeks on the uk website, but I would appreciate individual timelines. Thanks |
EGRL:Currently, she can't switch from dependant student visa to SW visa before the completion of the MA studies. The only exception to the rule is that if the start date on the COS is after the course completion date as stated on the MA'S CAS. |
Isreach:Just make sure u travel and report to work b4 28 days (from the day you were granted visa) elapse. However, in the event you couldn't meet up, here is what the rule says: If you cannot start working within the period of 28 days from the relevant date, your Sponsor has two options: 1). If they want to keep sponsoring you, they must report the new work start date to the Home Office with reasons for your delayed start. 2).The other option is that they may choose to stop sponsoring you. Whichever option your Sponsor chooses, they must report this by the end of 10 working days after the 28 day period using the “report migrant activity” function in the SMS. The Home Office may cancel your permission to stay if they decide that you do not have a valid reason for the delay, in which case your Sponsor will have to stop sponsoring you within 10 working days of the decision. |
Preeteeshir:Yes, it is allowed. This is similar to my case as I'm currently waiting for my course end date to elapse b4 I can switch. It is called the 28-day rule. See what the rule says: S3.10. Once a worker has been granted permission, they should normally start working in their sponsored employment no later than 28 days after whichever is the latest of: 1). the start date on their CoS (taking into account any changes to that date reported by you before their application for entry clearance or permission was decided) 2). the “valid from” date on the worker’s entry clearance vignette (visa) the date the worker is granted permission to enter, if they entered the UK without entry clearance under the Creative Worker visa concession 3) the date the worker is notified of a grant of entry clearance or permission to stay.” No.3 applies to you, assuming you are yet to apply for your visa. You can enter the uk and start working within 28 days after your visa is granted. Cheers! |
AgentXxx:Yes, they can apply after the course end date on the CAS even b4 graduation. This is exactly my case as an ex student. I'm waiting for the course end date on my CAS to pass b4 I can switch to a skilled worker dependant visa. The only way around this rule is if the work start date on the COS is after the course end date on the CAS, then you can switch even b4 your course end date. |
Tier4Dependant:Alright thanks |
Tier4Dependant:At present, is 6145 still eligible for skilled worker visa? |
cyberat:Please, is this for a Care job? What was the occupation code? Pls help |
Greetings great minds. Please, for those who recently got COS for a Care job, applied and got their Visas this September, what was the skilled occupation (SOC) code on the COS ? Was it 6145 or 6146 ? Someone should pls assist me with a reply. Thanks. |
Oluaminah:I waited for more than 3 months to get the COS. I wouldn't want any more delays from them. I would rather wait till after my partner's course end date and apply. Thanks for your reply |
Oluaminah:It's possible the COS the dependant used had a start date that is after the student's course end date. |
Can someone help please? What date is considered the application date for visa purposes; is it Biometric date? |
zeezeepearl:My employer applied for COS allocation in June. I received my COS this week. The wait was exhausting actually. |
Tier4Dependant:Ok noted. Application date is practically Biometric date, right? Meaning I can apply today but choose Biometric date that falls after my spouse's course end date? |
Tier4Dependant:Thank you boss for replying. But here is the thing; A dependant to a student was denied switching to skilled worker visa bcs of the new rule. The case worker cited thar the new rule affects the dependant too. See the attached

Good morning gurus I'm the house. Someone should help me please. I just received my COS from my employer. I'm currently a dependant to a student (my spouse). The start date on the COS is Oct 10, but my spouse's course end date is Oct 20. Considering the new restriction on switching before the course end date for both students and defendants, would it be a problem if I submit my visa application after my course end date (Oct 20), which is also after the COS start date of OCT 10? Put in another way, must I apply for a visa before my COS start date? Would my 5 years Visa start counting from biometric date or COS start date? |
cbn4main:Can anybody help with this, please ? |
Hi my friends, Please, how long is the waiting time for additional COS allocation from the home office to an employer ? |
Numero123:Getting an apartment in London is currently a very difficult task. This is because many people have come into London in search of sponsorship. I live in a self-contained room in London but has been searching for an affordable two bedroom for a long time now without any success |
America001:It will be definitely cheaper for you to land in London and then catch a train to Wolverhampton. It is around 3hrs journey with between 1 to 3 changes. Train ticket for the journey is between £24 and £75 depending on the time and route. However, you need guidance on where to get off and enter train throughout the journey, otherwise, as a newbie, it will be very difficult for you. If you have a relative in the UK, they can guide you, possibly book train ticket for you beforehand. If you don't have anyone in the UK, i will advise you fly straight to Birmingham or Manchester. Cheers mate |
hyzich:Thank you for your input. I appreciate |
dentalux:I fully understand. Thanks for your input. |
SouthSultan:I got a big room ensuite, family of 4, kids were 3 years below. The landlord was a Nigerian. He Charged me extra for utility usage and I took the offer. Cheers |
dentalux:For someone who does not require sponsorship(he is already in the uk) and has up 8 years of experience in Nigeria, what are his chances of securing an Accounting or Audit role as an ICAEW member? Are employers so particular about UK work experience ? |
Phayie:How much does Nala charge as fees per transaction? |
080bjaked:Thank you |
080bjaked:Please, 1). was this their first visit to the Uk? 2). What was the reason you stated for their 4 months trip? 3). What documents did you submit? Thanka |
Datakey:Things have really changed my dear. I just paid 0ver £2k to my wife's employer for COS fees. One of the top mgt staff told my wife they involve a lawyer in the process. I presumed that was why it's that expensive. Please note, my wife works in a big care home in London (operated by whites and not Nigerians). I will advise someone in the UK inquires independently about the fees on your behalf. |
