Thanks for your feedback.
What jobs are available for students in London/close to London?
Apart from the regular warehouse, security, and carejobs, there are plenty of cleaning jobs that can earn you extra weekly pay as there are plenty of sporting events, theatres, and stadiums in London .

Again, if you download the list of companies with sponsorship licences, you will notice that plenty of them are in London.

Good luck bro

hi bro, I'm also in London. Please can my wife connect with your wife for the care job, she really needs it..thanks
No wahala bro.
Currently, her employer isn't giving sponsorship but may give the beginning of 2024 as they had just finished a batch of sponsorship.

Thank you for the response

What I did was to show an account statement with enough money to cover the flight fare and some miscellaneous expenses and then added my payslip and accomodation contract to show I can accommodate her and take care of her while here. First visit was for almost 5 months.

This looks like a good plan to me if you can afford the airfares. BTW what visa plan are you on? Are you settled? Perhaps you should look at applying for her to stay long term as someone who requires special care which you and your wife would provide ...you can research more on this.
We are not settled. We are on Tier 2 visa.

Is there something like Child care visit visa? Like, I mean, can I state categorically that she is visiting for child care purposes? Would this fly?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by cbn4main: 8:45pm On Jun 27, 2023
dustydee:
It should not be an issue but why spend all that money on flight when she can stay for 5 months straight?
When you say it will affect your kids, what do you mean? If they are so attached to their granma, have you considered sending them to live with her?
I meant, since both parents would start working full time, the kids eould need company.

1). If I state in her application that she will stay for 30 days in her first visit but ends up spending 5 months at a stretch, don't you think it will impact her next renewal?

2). On the other hand, if I state in her application that she will spend 5 months, don't you think it will look like she wants to settle in the UK?

I don't think so
Long as she didn't overstay, didn't cause nuisance, access to public funds during her stay, no bad records...she will be fine
It's the validity period granted to her and she has the sole right to utilise it as she wishes...

They understand especially an aged elderly woman would love to stay with her loved ones/grannies forever not even 6 months grin

If she's lonely and a Pensioner
She is a pensioner.

Thanks for your input.

Cheers

Why 30 days for the first visit
I guess you are mixing it up
She can stay a max of 6 months maybe 5 months 2 weeks to be on a safe side irrespective of how long you stated she would stay during your visa application.

First visit 5 months w weeks then goes back and re apply after a month or so
Hopefully returns.... since she's helping with the kids
If she stays more than the no of days stated in her application for the first visit, I read it would cause a visa denial during renewal.

Don't you think 5 months on the first visit would raise eye brows ? What would be the purpose of visit for a 5month visit? Child care? Would that make sense to the ECO?

Guys. If you are coming to Teesside University in September and you like yourselves, do not live in that shitty town called Middlesbrough. I repeat, do not live in There. The town Don cast. In Middlesbrough, it now takes an average of 6 months for dependant to secure a job, let alone of student.

The town is an apt definition of demand pass supply. No job at all. I suggest you live in neighbouring towns like Thornaby, Billingham, Hartlepool and Stockton. I strongly advise Hartlepool as it seems less populated and has a huge number of care homes which is the major employer of students in the UK.

It also have an industrial estate which has thr history employing student. Listen to this an thank me later.

If you need accommodation in Hartlepool you can get in touch with me.
My brother, I remember exactly 1 year ago, Teesside University was hot cake bcs of low and flexible tuition fee conditions and cheap standard of living of the area. An agent advised me to pick a school close to London.

Fast forward, I live in London now and I thank God I took his advice.
It took my wife less than a month to get a care job in London and it came with sponsorship. Sponsorship wey people dey pay thousands of pounds for.

The only problem with London is high rent. Overall, you and your partner would make plenty of money to offset the bills and still save enough money.

My advice: If you are coming with your partner, don't focus on affordable places to settle. Consider job opportunities as top priority.

Cheers

If she' s coming to help out with child care, then make her first visit about 5months, then she can stay away for around 6months before coming back.
Thanks for your input. Staying away for 6 months would affect my kids bcs they are not up to 4 years (primary school age)

What if she stays for 30days in her first visit, travels bk to Nigeria and spends 30 days in Nigeria, and then returns to the UK and spends the remaining 4 months, would visa renewal be a problem?

Hi my friends, I'm planning for my mother-in-law to come visit I and my wife in the UK to assist us with the kids. I have read a lot on this platform, and I appreciate the sacrifice.

My question is:

1). If the first application ( 30 days visit) becomes successful and she comes over to the Uk and then travels bk to Nigeria after 30 days of visit, how long do you suggest she should stay in her next visit before the visa expires ?
Note: we really need her for child care reasons.

2). On expiration of the 6months visa, If we apply for 2 years visa, how long do you suggest she stays in the UK for the first visit and subsequent visits ?

I understand the visits shouldn't be long and frequent so as not to look like a settlement.

I will appreciate anyone who has done it before or seen it happen to help me out.

Cheers

Ahahha my dear these areas have even become expensive… the housing commotion is real, rents have increased severely
I agree with you. Actually, rents have increased generally in London oh. Personally, I would consider other factors rather than rent cost bcs there is no cheap place in London oh.

Please i need recommendation on areas that are not too expensive in London or nearby.

I'm looking for a single room in a shared house. Thanks
I would recommend East London. This includes Dagenham, Romford, Ilford, Eastham, Westham, Stratford etc. You can easily access central London from these places. You will find plenty African stores there as well.

Don't apply for Credit for another 3 months.

Check your Credit score on Experian, Equifax and Transunion. Hope I got the names right. Check them to ensure the data held for you is correct and if your score is "Poor" or Fair".

Let time do the magic. Just "free am" for a few months while doing everything right.

NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE O.
Hi,
I'm about to subscribe to a creditladder free plan. Which one of the Credit organisations should I subscribe to, Experian, Equifax and Transunion?

Which one of them would give me a quick result?

I'm expecting COS. Can I go ahead and apply for ECCTIS certificate without COS?
As in, do I need to upload COS to complete ECCTIS application?

With increase in wave of fake documents uploaded,

Ecctis will instruct you to send your documents over to them through your University ( sealed n stamped)
Bro, is this how it is done now, or are you suggesting that is what Ecctis would possibly do?

Overthinker:
Good evening people, is it advisable for a family of 4 to relocate with their kids instantly or should they leave the kids back at first and come over to get to know about life here? people talk about school commitments and how both parents can't attend that and also work, dropping of kids at school and picking them also. Is it something that can be managed or do they take their time before the kids come join them
I have a family of 4, and we all came to the UK together. We were lucky to get an accommodation within one week of arrival last year august, but i guess accommodation is scarce for couple with kids currently. Honestly, it hasn't been easy up till now. One person must stay with the kids while the other works full time. The former only gets to work when the later is off duty. To survive in the UK sufficiently and have savings, you need two fulltime working adults. However, one person might be doing night shifts while the other does day shifts, if the jobs are available. These are the challenges.

If you choose to come without your kids, you will make a lot of money and save massively. This new impending immigration rule will only affect new Msc students' visa applicants.

My advice would be, if you are on tier 2, come without your kids.
If you are yet to apply for student visa, plan to come with your kids.

Would the student copy go for the purpose English proficiency?

Hi everyone
Myself and my wife just go to the uk
We are finding it’s difficult to get any apartment here.Airbnb has drained us. Please does anyone here has a contact or WhatsApp group where we can get houses

My WhatsApp number

Thanks in anticipation
Which part of the UK are you currently?

Please try letting agents on the streets. They are very flexible In their conditions.
One big tip I will give you is, locate the nearest Nigerian grocery store. Familiarise with them. They will link you to a local agent.
Online agents are too strict.
This was what I did and got a house for a family of 4 within 5 days of arrival in the UK

good morning @duchess90 please do you know if i can opt for walk in appointments in abuja even after getting an appointment date for assisted services and how much walk in costs.
thank you
They are now very strict for walk-ins.
They allow only the MA(students) for walk-in but you will face a huge crowd waiting for the same thing.
Again, they start attending to people for walkin btw 4-5pm. It's very stressful quite frankly.
However, you can have it easy by tipping the right person. Biko don't ask me if I know anyone bcs I don't.
