Does anyone have an idea what the contents of the letter should be? Are they supposed to be just normal regular letters attesting to your character and guaranteeing that the recipient will actually use the funds for the masters /phd program as the case may be? Or what exactly should the letters contain?

I will appreciate your responses.

I assume the format of letter would also be sent along with the invitation. In that case, you would be in a better position to peruse through the content of the letter.

I have not been following the mining industry recently. It used to be a big industry in Canada, Australia, Asia and West Africa. A couple of my friends got jobs in Canada after their programme in the UK.

If you are keen on studying Mining Engineering and won't be more than 30 years on completion of your masters, I will advise you apply to CSM, University of Exeter for your programme. It has an international reputation. It used to be no 1 or 2 school in the mining industry. You can also get valuable contact there.

CSM graduates are respected and in high demand in the mining industry.

Thanks for your suggestion. But I think Mcgill University canada is also well renowed. It has been the best university in canada for the past 10 years.

Hi all, I need your humble advise
I have admissions for Msc Materials Engineering (mineral processing ) Mcgill University and Msc Petroleum Engineering Imperial college london. In any of the choices, I will be studying with a full scholarship up to the Phd level. How would you rate the mining and mineral processing industries in canada and whats the school life and job opportunities like as compared to uk. I am inclined to take the imperial offer but I get discouraged with the existent visa policy of the Uk. On the contrary, If one decides to come back to Nigeria Mining is not a big deal here, Petroleum is. Thank you guys for your suggestions.

Ps. My undergraduate degree was in Mining Engineering (1.1)

Mail the admission office and also copy the department. On your mail sound a little bit desperate like telling them this school is my dream sch bla bla bla..you get and that If you dont utilise the scholarship this year the offer would be gone. Also that out of the whole schools, University A is the only school that has a good reserch component and that your future career aligns with them...just hype the school briefly. Also make sure you send them the link to comfirm and that its a full funded scholarship. Cheers bro

Hi I would advise you to mail any of the schools you are interested in. If you are part of the sucessful scholars, inform them you would be studying with a full funded scholarship you can as well send them the link. I know they would allow you apply even if the deadline has passed. I advised few frnds abt this and their preferred department did allow them to apply. I hope yours wont be different.

I really doubt. Since the succesful names was given to goodluck for approval as at february I had hope the list would have released before the elections. Even if it comes out will the next Government be willing to sustain it?. I wish someone from NUC can clear the air anybody that has links in Nuc should clarify for the house

you know its either you pay for the deposit or show a proof you would be on scholarship. So I strongly believe by the end of may the list should be out if all goes well. You could send me a pm if you need further clarifications. cheers

I had same issue. Send them a mail telling them that you wont be responsible for paying your tution. That the scholarship is from the FGN and that it is supposed to cover every expenses. Also, inform them that you would get a decision by the end of may and that you require an extention around that period.

Yes research based. I had a first class in Mining/ Mineral Engineering. No much work experience, I work as a graduate assistant in one of the federal universities. Though I wasnt given any funding as all funding has been assigned , I knew the admission was over sure as I had a good rapport with my supervisor. In one of his mail he even reminded me of the deadline..lol. so I guess you should contact pontential supervisors much earlier. Once he is interested in taking you it doesnt matter if you dint have a first class n all

Not all schools. In FUTA it takes a week if you have never requested for your transcripts, It could be less though.If you have collected before it takes 3 days.
