KillerBeauty:
STOP CALLING EVERYONE AN ENTREPRENEUR

We have gotten a bit carried away with the “entrepreneur label” stop it. So many people in Nigeria consider themselves entrepreneur without even knowing what been an entrepreneur entails. In Nigeria, every Wale, Musa and Chidi goes about with the entrepreneur title not knowing that they are small business owners. Entrepreneurship is so much more than having a business.

Too many people confuse entrepreneurs from small business owners. A lot more people are qualified to run a grocery shop than take companies from inception, through market, funding and growth to IPO.

Now you may be asking, "who is an entrepreneur”

An entrepreneur is someone who is motivated to begin a start up. They seek to provide radical solution to huge problems with the use of breakthrough technologies that will make that solution possible. An entrepreneur has an insatiable need for more, more and more. They can’t stop. They are fearless and driven to maximize opportunity. An entrepreneur aims for improvement over what currently exist. They don’t dare to be different, they are different.

A small business owner, on the contrary, build business incrementally, bit by bit. They often solve smaller, localized problems with their business and are not looking to radically move the needle. These people are the broad base of employment in Nigeria. Everywhere you go in every street are littered with small businesses. They cover a lot of surface area but aren’t disrupting the status quo, creating entire new fields, or accelerating an entire market forward.

Small business owner seek lower risk and their goal is sustaining a living for themselves and their employees. Furthermore, their products and services often live in the realm of the known and established. They live and operate in their local community. That local tailor that has been in your street for 20 years is a business owner also that young guy that just opened a barbing salon in your area, that bet 9ja agent and that freelance web designer are all small business owners not entrepreneurs.

When we talk of entrepreneurs, we need to mention those people who discovered a new world, who aim for improvement in fields and business ideas that already exist, who provided radical solutions to problems that we never thought possible. People like Aliko Dangote who gave us a FCMG company we can be proud of, Linda Ikeji who open our eyes to what blogging is, CEO’s of Konga and Jumia who introduced the E-commerce gig to us, our very own Seun Osewa of Nairaland and Mike Adenuga who without him we wouldn’t have known what per second billing is all about.

These people are true entrepreneurs. Bigger is always better for them and that’s the one facet of their business that has held lasting values with customers through the years.
The summary of your write up is that an entrepreneur is a business owner who over time had grown the business so big and probably have other chains of business with turnover in the millions. If you think about it from this summary you will see that your point is counterintuitive. Maybe you were a science oriented student in School but then its a gross error writing about what you know nothing about in the first place

Let him try and correct Nepotism and ethnicity cos if one is not Yoruba, you rarely feel comfortable in that church... is it the music or even the whole procedure. Winners Chapel abit balanced theirs, just that Yoruba pastors and deacons control everything even in a non Yoruba state.

With the way churches are been run in this country, if God don't raise another set of giants to take over....very soon churches won't look attractive anymore to anybody. The prosperity messages which is almost all their focus don't yield result anymore and it's as if members suffer more after practicing the wrong method of prosperity preached to them.
Yea...the same way my parishes while in port Harcourt sing non Yoruba songs and I sometimes have this feeling of when next will I be in the Southwest again to enjoy the Yoruba style of praise and worship. Its all about the locality of the parish and only stone age human being find way of bringing tribal sentiments into issues.

I think there shouldn't be a limit to how often you call someone you are in a committed relationship with. whenever you feel like sharing something whether laughter, sadness or great news etc you should just do it and not bother about how many times you have called already.
of course there shouldn't be limit but what about in a case when the guy does the calling always and if you do not call...she won't call

Please support your assertion with scriptures!

@ op the Bible says bring your tithe into the storehouse of God. Malachi 3v10 Storehouse here refers to your local church. Do this and expect God's blessings.
Mind you, there are other forms of giving which in your case is giving to the less privileged.
cdoffx:
The church is not the building neither is the church God. The church etymological means "the assembly of the called out" that is, the body of Christ. Now Jesus said "when I was hungry.....you didn't feed me..." when they ask him when. He said as long as you see people around in need and you don't help them its me you didnt help. What does that tell you? The Church(not the building) is God's and whatever you do to the Church you have done to God so you could even use your tithe to help a particular person in dire need in your congregation. However, it is good to give the church(organisation) at least it is used to carry out projects and pay pastors but its not mandatory.
[quote author=excellence44 post=55193099]read my quoted reply and where did you get the idea that the store house is your local church. How do you correlate that with the records of John 4, Jesus and the woman at the well.

Hello, Nairalanders,

I'm really confused on the issue of paying tithe. Its my first job at 22. I'm a very religious person and that's why I need to sample opinions if I only have to pay tithe in Church.

I know a particular guy who runs an NGO that pays the fees of school kids from poor homes. I offered to sponsor this humanitarian venture. The funds I plan to put into it will be my monthly tithe.

Simple meaning: I will not pay tithe in church. Rather I'll take the exact 10% and support this guy.

Is it proper? Should I only pay tithe in church? Please advise maturely.

Shalom!
It is perfectly ok sir...and biblically right.

I believe you should be open to ideas/inputs or suggestion rather than being enclosed to your belief. The question is, what makes a dance Christianly and the other worldly?
Everything about God is original while that of the devil is copy copy/counterfeit therefore, if any dance that does not have Virtue, Praise and Truth, is considered worldly.
I am not closed to ideas and I will be glad to read your explicit opinion on the issue
Christianity EtcChristian Or Worldly Dance Style. by cdoffx(op): 9:35pm On Mar 19, 2017
Hi to all.
This thread is solely created in response to this particular one www.nairaland.com/3691103/dancing-shoki-bobo-others-inside and I will really be happy if mods help move to FP.

After reading the replies from the above mentioned thread I was so angered by the high level of hypocrisy and manipulations in the Christian faith. As a Christian and more especially a theological student I find it very surprising the level of ignorance many Christians are on many issues related to the Christian faith yet can't be explained to them for so many reasons.

On the issue of dancing and the types of dance that should be allowed in the church, I believe it is gross ignorance and probably hypocrisy to say some particular dance styles is Christian-like while some are worldly. It is either you agree that dancing should not be allowed in the church as part of worship or you agree dancing is part of worship and any style as long as it doesn't exhibit seduction(this is another argument) should be allowed.

Let us make this brief, if you believe dancing is part of worship then its hypocrisy or ignorance for you to say some dance styles are worldly because invariably you are saying dancing generally shouldn't be allowed in the church. Dance styles are product of socioreligious cultures. If you are a Yoruba man, the usual dance style you believe is the church style that you dance to Yoruba worship songs are what used to be danced during traditional social or religious gatherings. Likewise if you are Igbo, Ikwerre, Urhobho, Efik, Hausa and many others. So your so called churchy dance style is actually a Yoruba or Igbo or Hausa worldly dance style.

Whoever initiated or invented whatever is not and should not be the issue but rather the usefulness of the initiated or invented

Let stop deceiving ourselves with useless manipulations. I believe dancing is an integral part of Christian worship and can use any style to worship my God. Although I hardly dance any of those shoki, bobo, alanta and so on because I am not interested in them not because its a sin but am not a social person hence not updated. let's just put it that way.

MrMcJay:
Instead of coming to cry on Social media, the best way to handle this matter legally is this:

1. Snap clean, clear photographs of the injuries inflicted.

2. Go to a government hospital and get a Medical report stating the extent of the injuries.

3. Obtain prescription for drugs to be taken to manage the injuries.

4. Sue the policeman for battery and claim that he is unfit for police job. Join the CP Ogun State that his men are acting out his instructions, join the AIG Zone 2 and add that he is unable to supervise his men appropriately. Finally add the IGP and claim 100M in damages.

5. Attach the photographs, the medical report and the prescriptions.

6. Be ready to call the doctors as witnesses. Actually, once doctors hear that you're a victim of police brutality, they would assist you to any lengths.

7. Sit back, relax and see the power of litigation in a uniformed man's career.

* The police need to be sanitised and only the leadership can get this done effectively.*
Very good advice
