It is a rooted knowledge that West carries Nigeria politically, whether as a ruling party or as opposition party. Soludo is the only Easterner we will support on top of any ticket.

sukkottt: nah bro we had more powerful people before awolowo. we had madam tinubu and oba kosoko and oba akitoye and lamurudu Lagos was made capital because of its favourable location on the sea. It's West Africa's most natural harbour. Google is your friend bro! Stop all this your chest beating, it's no use! So why did you lose the capital city status to Abuja? I guess your people suddenly became dumb asses, abi? Nigeria is really divided with our youths chasing shadows! I am sure Nigeria would have benefited greatly if you and I came together to establish a venture as profitable and competitive as multichoise or alibaba for instance notwithstanding that I am Igbo and you Yoruba. It's high time we Nigerian youths started directing our energies to worthwhile things instead of making a mockery of our nationhood here on Nairaland and other social media! At this rate, we will never catch up with the likes of south Africa not to talk of China and Europe! I have said my own sha. One love! |

sukkottt: well bro, I hate no man and I am tribal to no man but I can appreciate your concern about the impediments of tribalism. I love all my brothers from all tribes.
nOw with regards to lagos and abuja being federal cities, thats true indeed but those two regions are not federal cities for no reason, it is because of the business acumen and lobbying acumen of the wise men of these regions that those regions were made FG capital. I mean out of all the states in naija why those 2 ? you think they just tossed a coin the air and picked those 2 ? you have to give props to the diplomatic sagacity of yoruba men of the days of yore to present day yoruba sages like tinubu and obasanjo. these men walk through the corridors of power with the fluidity of a ballet dancer
with regards to the ekiti market situation, i dont think you go into a state and buy their market without the state giving you stipulations that you must employ at least half the capacity of the market must be employed to the indigenes of the state or they will not sell it to you because that is called CAPITAL FLIGHT. My brother, I just don't get all this your acumen theory! We all know it was the colonial masters that made Lagos capital in the first place. So who used his acumen to lobby for that? Awolowo who wasn't even born then? Or who else? Tell me! I guess you're more intelligent than this man! As for Abuja, we all know how the North arm twisted and bamboozled everyone else with the argument that Nigeria needed a less crowded and more centrally located capital city to foist Abuja on us by military Fiat that was decreed into law by the late Murtala Muhammed on the 3rd of February, 1976 just ten days to his assassination! You and I know what happened during the war and immediately after. The North were calling the shots at the federal level and no one could do anything about it. So Yorubas were dumb to have allowed the capital city status moved away from Lagos? Bros stop misrepresenting facts on social media. It shows you off in bad light. I guess I must have corrected the wrong impression you were trying so hard to create for the benefit of discerning readers. Shalom! |

sukkottt: notwithstanding the bolded, you didnt list that as a condition, you simply said igboland has the best houses and i said it does not as you have alluded to. it matters not to me whether they got massive development from FG. getting massive development from FG is a testament to the intelligence of the people in lagos and abuja. like out of all the states why were those 2 chosen ? its because those two places are full of indigenous wise men who lobbied and got the FG to make their cities the capital. so you have to give kudos where it is due. and this is why those 2 regions have the most development and the best houses You are a big foool if at your age, you don't how both Lagos and Abuja became capital of Nigeria. Indigenous wise men did no lobbying! Why do most Nigerian youths reason through their anus? Especially the Afonjas. sukkottt: thats a very myopic view. ok lets see, the igbo man owns the market and the market employs 500 yoruba people. those 500 yoruba people will feed their families and build homes from the money they make from the market and the one igbo guy who owns it will just build one or two houses in the east with his own profit. so the combined money of the 500 workers and taxes to yoruba govt is more than the igbo man will make from owning the market
and lagos and abuja have the best houses in nigeria not igboland My friend, your analogy is just wack and completely unfeasible. There's no way a group of Igbo traders will come together to acquire a market and then turn around to lease out all 500 stalls, shops or warehouses only to Yorubas! Haba! Who does that? Not possible even in a Nollywood movie! Secondly, on the issue of Lagos and Abuja they are both Federal cities as far as this country is concerned. The former was previously our capital and the latter our present capital city. So they were and are still being developed with Federal money. On the other hand, Lagos is the only viable State in Nigeria cos of all the infrastructural facilities it amassed over the years. These range from Seaports to the International Airport as well as all manner of industries both small, medium and large scale that are heavily concentrated on the city! So stop boasting cos every Nigerian contributed to the development of both cities. For instance, the 12 billion dollar 650000 barrels a day refinery complex owned by Dangote is a strong case in point. Or is Dangote now a Yoruba man? Tribalism is really a big problem in this country! I can't imagine Americans arguing whether it is blacks, Hispanics or whites who developed San Francisco, New York or Los Angeles for instance. We are really cursed in this nation cos of the quantum of tribal hate that exists in the hearts of our citizens especially the youth the so called leaders of tomorrow! May God help us! |

Another important advantage of the Igbos is that they are usually well educated in Nigeria and abroad.
Any country with a unique group like the Igbo but rearranged its political structure to exclude its Igbo group from apex political leadership of the country, such a country shall always have the likes of Obasanjo and Buhari elected to lead the country.
And poverty shall not abandon such a country. God bless you my brother! You just nailed it! End of story! |

SA I, SA II, SA III, SA IV...... na wa oooh! This country is really a joke! There should be constitutional limits to this kind of nonsense! A Governor doesn't need more than 18 personal aides, while the President doesn't need more than 36. This scenario of hundreds of personal aides under very funny and phoney names is simply mind boggling and unacceptable! This is why the cost of governance is even higher than the recurrent expenditure component of the budget in some cases especially at the State level. A prompt and wholistic constitutional amendment/restructuring of the Federation is what is needed most at this time as a panacea to this problem of waste and misplaced priority by those in government. Security votes to the President and Governors as well as other government functionaries MUST be slashed by 80 to 90 percent if we must take off as a nation. Estacodes at all levels of government must also be slashed by at least 75 percent cos the current figures are just outrageous to say the least!
Lastly, the Legislature at all levels of government MUST BE on PART TIME BASIS. We have no business running a full time type Legislature as this is just too expensive and counter productive. The problem is our political class are just too selfish and insensitive to the plight of the masses. In a nutshell, the 1999 Constitution is Nigeria's biggest problem!. The sooner we change it the better for us as a country. Have said my own sha. Just hope those in the corridors of power are reading this! |

vislabraye: SS/SE would have different names as well. Biafra, Oduduwa Republic and Niger Delta would be countries as well. Guy you guys should stop dreaming of a Niger Delta Republic ok. Your dream land would just end up like South Sudan where war has become the order of the day! No country survives without at least one majority tribe or group calling the shots and also holding the safety valves of the nation state in check! More over, the south south is too disunited to become a sovereign state. Secondly, even if you guys want to alienate the Igbos out of hate and greed, the Igbo nation (Biafra) must have access to the Sea whether you people like it or not! Port Harcourt and huge Chunk of Rivers State including Bonny Island and Opobo have Igbo ancestry and anthropological descent/ links. So the Igbos are taking those lands including Port Harcourt Metropolis, Onne and Okrika. In fact, the whole Ikwerre Land and much more! So it's better you guys work hands in gloves with us to achieve a solid Biafran nation state instead of a partitioned Biafra because in the long term, a war will break out btw the two Biafras! But please you guys should not even dream of taking any inch of Igbo land; PH, Asaba, Ikwerre land, Opobo, Bonny Island, Agbor, Kwale etc. We Igbos have the ruggedity to conquer you guys on the Battlefield any day any time as far as we are well armed. They forget that its a "Democracy" and even if you dont like Trump, the fact that he could gather voters in larger numbers and will more Electoral College Votes, means he is the elected President! Deal with it!!
It even amaze me that some of the people commenting here, have NOT seen the breakdown of the loan (what it is intended to be used for), yet they are already saying We Dont need the loan, just because they see S/East written somewhere!
The same people who say they would not support the loan, should have asked themselves: Does Nigeria need this loan to achieve what it was set-out to achieve? The next important question is to ask: if we need those things the loan was meant to pay for, where then do we get the money to pay for those things NOW, if the loan is not taken? Funnily, it is the same people from that side that will be shouting on social media that this Govt is not doing anything, no employment, No Food, e.t.c, forgetting that those things need money to achieve, money which their Daddies and Political god-fathers, including the "team" who visited Buhari, have looted!

South South: Akwa Ibom. Cross River. Bayelsa. Rivers. Delta. = 15 Senators
South West: Ekiti. Lagos. Oyo. Ogun. Ondo. Osun. = 18 Senators
Politics is a game of numbers. These 15 disgruntled elements from the SE are of no political consequence whatsoever. The ignorant move of these SE Senators explains why the average Igbo man is politically disadvantaged. It is simply because they are not politically savvy.
They could have teamed up with senators from other minorities in Kogi, Nassarawa, Taraba and Plateau and go see the President. Instead, they have gone to advertise their foolishness for the world to see.
The votes of the 15 senators from the SE are as useless as an eunuch's manhood. When that happens, they either give an ultimatum or cry marginalisation as usual. You reason like a PIG, I swear! mrvitalis: She i know has foreign partners.. I told u most of Nigerians owned oil blocks are not operational.. . They just used them to take loans My friend, please say what you know ooh! No Nigerian in the 70s, 80s and 90s had money to even bid for an oil bloc not to talk of developing it! What happened was that the Nigerian government especially under the military handed out these blocks as either OMLs or OPLs. The beneficiaries in turn shopped abroad for investors/ developers who they would then lease the block to based on projections or forecast of Crude Oil and gas deposits in the field/ block. Some blocks are onshore others are offshore while some are referred to as marginal fields. Marginal fields are mostly onshore or riverine and are located mostly in Akwa Ibom State. The lease agreements are mostly for 25 to 50 years and the monetary aspect runs into millions of US Dollars. In some cases as low as 50 million and in others as high as 750 million US Dollars! This is how some privileged and well connected Nigerians like TY Danjuma, Alakija, Arthur Eze and many others too numerous to mention became super rich at the expense of millions of ordinary Nigerians! So you see why most youths don't value hard work again? Where the mistress to a Military Head of State suddenly becomes super wealthy to the extent of emerging Africa's richest woman! Being a former Chief of Army Staff makes you a super rich guy to the extent you become one of the richest people and most powerful people in the country. So you see, Nigeria is on a long thing. The advent of Oil has really been more of a curse than a blessing to us because Oil money is somewhat easy to loot by those in public office. If not for Oil, Nigeria would have been a great nation. The ingenuity of our populace would have been brought to the fore cos necessity is the mother of invention! |

That is why the so-called leaders feel less accountable to the people that they are supposed to serve. GBAM! The swearing in ceremony of our Executives should be done in the premises of either the Government House, National or State Assembly or the Supreme Court/ High Court of the State with very few guests and very low pomp and pageantry.
