Mindlog:
Just reminded me a case of young man in his early 20s, left his hostel in Birmingham (UK). took a bus to Birmingham international airport with just his wallet, international passport and a flight ticket he printed in his room. His fellow students who saw him leave the hostel, thought he was going to get groceries.....11hrs later, he was knocking at his parents gate past midnight. His family was shocked, he requested a room should be prepared for him that he was feeling sleepy, he locked himself in that room for 4 days without coming out though en-suite but he didn't eat nor communicated with anyone.

The family being an influential one, had to be hush about it. It was the consultant psychiatrist where I worked, that was called in and got him to open the door and the guy looked like something else, it took so much experience to get him come over to our facility to be admitted. It was a very complicated diagnosis and he was established to be struggling with schizoaffective disorder and the 4 months he was in the facility was hair-raising. sad sad sad
Woah... Exactly what happened to our landlord's son in Owerri in the late 90's.

Tinubu erred big time on Niger issue and Nigeria has been caught between its tail.

All the Islamic countries are coming on side of Niger and if war breakouts, expect Northern Nigeria also to support Niger.
The northern Nigeria Can as well break away And join their cousins there. They're dragging the south backwards.

They'll still have Ghana, Senegal, benin, Togo, Gambia, cote d'ivoire, etc. To contend with. The mistake they made was allowing burkinabe And Malian coup plotters to hold sway.

This is a terrible intake by a novice on politics. You are even praising Abacha. Lol. Do you honestly think if there was no military coup in Nigeria, we would be in this current mess? A bunch of illiterate cultureless men without regard for intellectual discussions, who determine right and wrong by who pulls the trigger first cannot make a great nation. Anyone that takes power through force without a reasonable justification must also fear retaliation. This is always the beginning of a downward spiral. Also, to keep such power you must bribe many, repress many and rewrite the constitution to favor you. Since 1999, we have had 2 former heads-of-state as president and they have displayed nothing but incompetence. Nigeria is still struggling from the centralized system that those brutes left us. Your thinking process is dangerous especially if adopted by enough people. Do you think the brutes that started civil war and mismanaged the golden age of Nigeria and oil boom with wave a magic wand and repair the country?
To be fair, it's Buhari that displayed nothing but incompetence.
Obj showed great commitment in managing our external debts and stabilising the exchange rate. Budgeted billions of dollars for power equipment that same Nigerian unpatriotic bureaucrats left to languish at the ports. Don't compare the two pls.
Buhari was the biggest mistake Nigeria ever made.

what civil war ? IF the military takes over today today - there will be wide spread jubilation all over Nigeria

IF we can have a military government come in and strengthen the institutions and create a fool proof electoral system and confiscate the ill gotten wealth of those who stole from the system in the last 24 years, using it to better our society - repair our refineries for good and improve the society and sincerely hand over to a civilian administration in 4 years - the ku leaders will become instant national heroes

if they can be true to re-write the constitution based on them will of the people respecting the diversity of the country, ensuring that every Nigerian can vote with their BVN using something like ATM machine where the votes will be seen as votes are happening live - with zero incidence of manipulation or intimidation - Nigerians will be eternally grateful to these group of soldiers who wil save Nigeria from these evil APC leaders and their accomplices in the judiciary
Those are lots of IF's... The Naija military of today has adorned the toga of laxity And corruption.

Barack Obama Sr who is Barack's father is a Dinka Nubian. They traveled over to Kenya from Sudan seeking refuge during the Sudan Civil War back in the 1980's, a violent religious war between Sunni Sudanese and Traditional Nubians. The Obamas are not the Kyruku who are the dominant ethnic group of Kenya that the Kenyatta family claims to belong. Just like the Fulani are migrants to the Niger area so are the Dinka Nubians in Kenya. I am aware of the identity of nearly every group in Africa and the world. Nobody can pull one over on me anymore because they did once and I learned from it. Certain groups conceal and suppress their true biblical identities for religious reasons.
Well noted...
But if a half Nubian has children with a non Nubian, must they inherit the Nubian phenotype?

Yes even Malik Obama who is Barack's brother admits that Michele Micheal Obama Robinson is a Man. Have you ever noticed that neither Malia and Sasha Obama have the famous Nubian nose? They take pride in the shape of the Nubian nose because it identifies the true Kings of Egypt that nose is carved in many stone monuments. I know Nubians who are Sudanese but make up the largest tribal groups in Africa and they are the owners of the land. They are everywhere and they pride themselves in their black skin and distinct facial features.

Obama is half Kenyan.. are Kenyans Nubians? Pls enlighten Me

I agree with you. There should be a law that prohibits electricity theft and allows DisCos to switch off light within a particular radius until residents bring forth the thief. Let them do this at least until they can afford technology that can help mitigate against electricity theft.
Policing consumers is a huge cost to the power distribution companies.
Tracing of electricity theft is not that complicated.. no be wireless. Landlords should grant discos access to premises for periodic checking of the meters. Meters And external connections should follow a certain nerc mandated code.

At the end, I don't have easy answers, sigh.

All I know is, back in the day, I went to a private school, which was expensive, cost money, but we got a lot of things that a public school, which was near where we lived, and which was charging very cheap fees...did not get.

Maybe we should do as South Africa does, and give students a grant , but only limit it to students below a certain set point in earnings...not perfect though...

All in all, keeping fees low has not done our government schools any good either.

I come in peace, and I am also angry with the government. But at the end, some hard choices have to be made, and made now.

And yes, we have to fight corruption.
Corruption is the main issue. Paying 1 million naira per term that will still get embezzled Will still not bring anything positive.
PoliticsRe: Electricity Generation Drops 16% To 3,501MW by ceejayluv(m): 9:34am On Jul 21, 2023
nairalanda1:
Basically, the DISCOS are not being allowed to charge cost reflective tarrifs.

At one point in 2017 , they even had their bills frozen for 2 years.

Naturally, one won't be able to do much improving with such issues. Government still sets their prices, and pays them a subsidy that is not enough for their needs.

So the result is poor power supply, poor distribution and low geberation

( Just to show you how bad our generation is, Lagos alone needs 10000 MW daily for 24 hour light)

Until DISCOS are allowed to charge cost reflective tarrifs, and until there is an end to power stealing, and until universal metering is a thing...we are not going to get 24 hour light.

You can only give what you have, not what you wish you have.

Three or 4 discos have gone bankrupt because socialism

(Disclaimer: I do not support APC, PDP, LP or Tinubu. A good way to understand our power sector is to google PwC's report on the power sector...Solving the liquidity crunch in the Nigerian power sector...published in 2018 which gives a good account of the problems.)
Before total deregulation, the discos should be mandated to meter ALL consumers. In fact, estimated billing should be banned thenceforth. Also, power theft should be heavily sanctioned by imposing Long prison terms, no option of fine.

The reason why its harmful is due to how poor the average nigerian is, the minimum wage is low, unemployment is high, so fuel end up taking a larger % of their wages
Nigeria's Minimum wage right now is like $40. meaning that 50 litre petrol is over 140% of minimum wage
