Just reminded me a case of young man in his early 20s, left his hostel in Birmingham (UK). took a bus to Birmingham international airport with just his wallet, international passport and a flight ticket he printed in his room. His fellow students who saw him leave the hostel, thought he was going to get groceries.....11hrs later, he was knocking at his parents gate past midnight. His family was shocked, he requested a room should be prepared for him that he was feeling sleepy, he locked himself in that room for 4 days without coming out though en-suite but he didn't eat nor communicated with anyone.

The family being an influential one, had to be hush about it. It was the consultant psychiatrist where I worked, that was called in and got him to open the door and the guy looked like something else, it took so much experience to get him come over to our facility to be admitted. It was a very complicated diagnosis and he was established to be struggling with schizoaffective disorder and the 4 months he was in the facility was hair-raising.

I agree with you. There should be a law that prohibits electricity theft and allows DisCos to switch off light within a particular radius until residents bring forth the thief. Let them do this at least until they can afford technology that can help mitigate against electricity theft.
Policing consumers is a huge cost to the power distribution companies.

Tracing of electricity theft is not that complicated.. no be wireless. Landlords should grant discos access to premises for periodic checking of the meters. Meters And external connections should follow a certain nerc mandated code.

All I know is, back in the day, I went to a private school, which was expensive, cost money, but we got a lot of things that a public school, which was near where we lived, and which was charging very cheap fees...did not get.

Maybe we should do as South Africa does, and give students a grant , but only limit it to students below a certain set point in earnings...not perfect though...

All in all, keeping fees low has not done our government schools any good either.

I come in peace, and I am also angry with the government. But at the end, some hard choices have to be made, and made now.

And yes, we have to fight corruption.

Corruption is the main issue. Paying 1 million naira per term that will still get embezzled Will still not bring anything positive.

Before total deregulation, the discos should be mandated to meter ALL consumers. In fact, estimated billing should be banned thenceforth. Also, power theft should be heavily sanctioned by imposing Long prison terms, no option of fine.

Nigeria's Minimum wage right now is like $40. meaning that 50 litre petrol is over 140% of minimum wage
