It was on a sunny afternoon, I decided to go buy something just opposite the street.

When I stepped out, I didn't notice something was gonna go wrong. While waiting for the man to handover what I ordered for, I could see my rottweiler outside the gate just galivating around the gate region.

I quickly returned back to the gate and ordered him to go inside of which he obeyed (as always). On getting inside the compound, I noticed a friend's dog was no longer in the compound.

I kept calling her name around the compound thinking she will show up like my 4 month old Samoyed would whenever it feels like she's lost in the compound.

I kept calling and checking through all the walls of the compound but saw nothing. Then it dawned on me she may have gone out of the gate.

I quickly rushed out, looked around the neighborhood and luckily, I found her wandering. I felt some relief. I quickly Walked up to her and immediately she saw me, she fled off as if she has seen a ghost.

That came as a surprise to me. I mean, we have been staying in the same house for like 3 days now and she doesn't always run whenever she sees me. I didn't give up and thus, I kept following same direction she had followed. But she kept running with speed whenever she saw I was close and believe me, I wasn't holding anything whatsoever. She just kept running till I lost sight of her.

I asked people around and they said they didn't see a white dog pass through. I guess they didn't notice considering everyone's facing their daily business.

I just couldn't continue on a journey of no return and hence, I returned home.

So, there she goes. She's on a journey of no return because I can deduce she doesn't know her way around and it would be a miracle if she finally finds her way back home.

P.S: Since her arrival, I have not hit this dog with any object. I just realized she was overpampered and right in front of the owner's eyes, I have often tried to correct the dog the little way I can.

The owner mentioned she always runs out whenever she gets a little chance and the question was, what has she done to correct it? Nothing!

Guys, while some of you would laugh at this, training a dog is almost synonymous to training a child. You shouldn't overpamper a child otherwise, he/she will go wayward. Same applies to dogs. When you know they did something wrong and you choose to play deaf, they will think that's fine by you and thus, will keep at it.

Funny thing is, the dog is almost 2 years old.

I recently got a grown female boerboel from a friend and the dog doesn't pass through a door even when the door is wide open except you ask the dog to go through it. While that can be quite annoying at first, I think it's letting the dog know it's boundaries which is a good thing.

It's okay to show love to your dog. I mean, that's what describes you as a dog lover. But when the dog does something wrong, you should make them understand they did something wrong. Not just playing deaf ears like it doesn't matter.

The Bible says, 'train up a child the way he should grown, so that when he is old, he wouldn't depart from it. Same principle applies to dogs.

You spend more when dealing with pups. Over the last few weeks, I can say over 15k has been spent on just feeding dogs alone.

The more they grow and the more u learn, the less money you spend.

P.S: I have 4 dogs and 3 are still pups.

The memories of my male samoyed dog who actually died last year is still fresh in my head. So, I can relate with how losing a dog feels.

As Arcbay rightly said, get familiar with pet breeds like ihasa apso, samoyed, Eskimo, pug and others. That would help kill / minimise your phobia for dogs. However, seek the owner's permission before doing so.

Dogs are lovely creatures. I can bet you'd end up loving them if you open your heart to it.

You were suppose to start socializing her from around 8 weeks, but the good thing is, it's never too late. You can start by letting her play around your friends and family in the once, once you see she's getting scared, go to her, then give her a treat, go back to your seat and call her if she doesn't come, let a friend or family to her and give her treat too, then go back and call her, keep doing this until when you call her while sitting with friends around she feels comfortable enough to come to you or any of your friends who call her. From there, begin to take her on long walks, you can take a walk out, then go to a crowded area and sit on a spot, let her watch people pass to and from, continue this constantly. Taking her to a place with busy vehicles moving to will help take away the fear. She's cute and I wish you all the best. However, I have a male for stud. yes, but as a student I don't have much time to be taking her out when I have 8am class... or even if the evenings. I only take her on morning walks... yes she is a picky eater I mix everything I give her with meat or fish she starts picking out the meat to eat first... the food and everything, I think She'll be better off at home with a big compound to roam about in... my youngest brother would take good care of her and I can also go home to see her... she'll be fine. what kind of vitamins I had to spray raid tonight the kind of mosquitoes that bit me yesterday eh... I left her at the balcony where she won't perceive it, and that's where she'll sleep...

I'll tell you, packing poo and pee isn't a funny thing at all, I've suffered, all the same I'm even thinking of sending her to my parents house in ph so that whenever I go back home I'll be seeing her, I don't know what else to do, and she keeps selecting food, and fur is all over my room, and again she gives me sleepless nights sometimes then I have to take her to the balcony she keeps crying me I dunno again... but for now I've been taking care of her...

Lol... Trust me, I know how you feel. I mean, I pack and clean those of two pups every single day. Yours' just one.

Here's the good news, I recall u saying she's an adult. If that's true, potty training her shouldn't be a biggy. It will only require consistency and dedication.

My adult female samoyed doesn't poo or pee indoors. Amongst all my dogs, she's d only one I can leave home for hours and be confident that she wouldn't mess up.

You can start by monitoring her more closely. Whenever you just finish feeding her, take her outside to go pee and poo. Whenever she just wakes up from sleep, do the same. Whenever u want to play with her, do it outside.

Dogs, most often at times, pee and poo after eating, sleeping and when they get too excited. Now, whenever she pees and poos outside, immediately give her a treat or praise her by petting her very well. That makes her understands she's doing the right thing.

Regarding her furs everywhere, unfortunately u can't change that. Samoyeds shed a lot. However, u can reduce the shedding and that's by grooming her daily or at least, twice weekly.

Regarding her feeding, it's just so sad that Samoyeds are very picky and that can be very annoying. Most times, I literally have to lock the adult Samoyed in the cage with her food before she eats it. My rott and hybrid on the other hand, are heavy eaters. The diamond kibbles I bought barely 2 weeks back is almost finished. Thanks to those guys.

But then, hope u usually mix fish in her meals? If no, please do. Always mix her meals with fish or meat. More so, always give her vitamin tablet once a day.

Taking care of a dog ain't an easy task. It gets more tasky if the dog stays indoors with him. But then, dogs are adorable and they deserve to be cared for. Picture her as your baby. If you can take care of a dog, you should be able to treat a baby better when you eventually have a child of yours

Just like you, I sometimes wish I could just send my dogs home but then, I just can't imagine myself without a dog. And when I have a dog, I always want to give him/her a playing mate and the need for another dog arises.

Just go with the tips I pointed out above. With dedication, time and consistency, you would be happy you actually have a dog to yourself.

Extra tip: stay off any insecticide or any poisonous substance. Take them completely out of your zone. You certainly wouldn't want to harm your dog.

Hello, first I need to ask, is the puppy's dam still alive and healthy? If yes, it isn't advisable to adopt a puppy at 5 weeks old. The recommended time frame is 7 weeks upwards. 8 weeks is even more appropriate.

This is because the pup needs to be nurtured by the mum. The pup also needs to learn some behaviours and those can best be taught by the dam accompanied by the siblings.

More so, as Lavendra rightly stated, your primary concern should be packing poops and cleaning pees. If u think that would be too much work, then you probably shouldn't get the puppy yet.

To answer your first question, YES. Your dog can stay indoor. As a matter of fact, as a puppy, it's better she stays indoors so she wouldn't be exposed to too much temperature.

I currently have 4 dogs (1 adult samoyed, 1 puppy samoyed (2 months old), 1 hybrid (2 months old), one pure Rotts (4 months old). They all stay indoors with me. The adult samoyed doesn't pee or poo indoor cos I've taught her how not to.

The Rotts sometimes still pees indoor by accident but barely poos indoor (he is still undergoing house training). The two puppies can poo and pee in the house anywhere, anytime they like as if we both pay the bills. Mtcheeeew! Am still watching them in 3D sha.

I pack poops n clean pees up to 10 times daily courtesy of the two pups and trust me, the experience ain't pleasurable. Not one bit! So, if you ain't ready for that challenge, i'd suggest u relax for a while till the pup is a lil older.

To answer your second questn regarding feeding, as a pup who isn't even up to 4 months, her feeding should be solely dog food. That of cos, is if you want the best for your pup.

I've seen a case where a male rott killed a male gsd without stress.
