Hello fam,
Good evening.

Please, i want to know, how long does it take from approval to passport pickup?
Can anyone who has gone through the process in recent times respond please?

Thank a lot.
The official timeline is that your visa will be ready within 5 working days. Some people have gotten theirs in 3days . (Tuesday approved, Friday pickup)

Good afternoon guys.... pls i want to ask, with which name should a female apply for WES evaluation after a change of surname due to marriage, Husband name or maiden name?
If you have gone through the official name change process then you have to start using the new surname . And then add your maiden name when you are asked of previous names. Also attach the change of name documents

While trying to apply for date on CGI, I saw this below screenshot, if i choose the first option (because I was rejected by December), I will not see date, but I will see dates on the second option. So what do you people think I should do? Thanks

This is a tough one, but I will advice you stick to the truth. That’s my General rule for all things visa. Call or email the embassy to find out why you are not seeing dates on the portal. They might have an explanation or rectification.

Do not apply through regular because it may compound your problems

Guys, I need help. I have been offered admission for Fall 2022 in the US and my I-20 has been sent to me. I have two different questions I'd like to ask. The first one is: I was awarded a GTA funding for the first 12months but my I-20 is showing funding for 9months while I was awarded a GTA funding for 12months. Is this a mistake from my school and will the 9months of funding be enough for documentation at the US embassy for an interview?

My second question is. I have completed my DS-160 application form and have paid all necessary fees but while booking an appointment today, 7th April 2022, I am seeing appointments dates that are well over my program start date which is 22nd August 2022. I am told that I need to request an expedited appointment. But on the instructions on the portal, u can't book an expedited appointment until u are within 60days to your school start date. For me, I will be within that 60days around the 22nd of June, 2022. What do you suggest I do guys? Should I go ahead and request for the expedited appointment or I should wait till that June while using the opportunity to check if any closer dates have been released. Pls, I need your suggestions and advice. Thank you.

Was it the same amount on your offer letter for 12 months that was quoted on your i20 for 9 months ?

Also expedited appointments is 60 days to resumption date . So it’s just to wait and be checking the portal occasionally.

Again seeing only what you want to see.

Where have I ever said people should ditch their hopes or where have I ever said embassy won't reopen?

I guess you just wanted to comment just to mark attendance. Oya we don see you, you visited the thread today. lol
Mr “I too know” .. I expected your arrogance laced response so I am not surprised. Of course I will see what I want to see . That’s why it’s called difference of opinion . And yes I have marked attendance and I am happy

So it's ok for the thread to be based on misinformation as long as it gives people false hope?

Can you even hear how you sound right now
It’s not misinformation.. the document clearly made a statement about “All” students scheduled for fall semester.
So like the previous person said . We appreciate the information but allow people to exercise their hope. Embassy may or may not open for fall. But no one is 100% sure of what it will be tomorrow. Even if they open they can still close The next day . These are uncertain times

Try using internet explorer. I had that issue with chrome when I was trying to open the Ds160 form on it. It was later after I have more or less completed the form I was able to use chrome for it.
Thank you for responding . It has been sorted . I changed my internet provider like someone suggested earlier and it worked .

Hey guys,
So I got into Washington Yesterday. Cbp was a breeze apart from the long queue. The interview felt like I was chatting with a friend. I wasn't asked anything different from what people have been stating here.

Officer: beckons on me to move forward

Me: (walks up to his counter and hands him my passport and customs card) Good afternoon

Officer: (Nods) where is your final destination

Me: Here in DC

Officer: where will you be staying.

Me: (Mentions the hotel)

Officer: beckons on me to stand infront of his biometric machine then continues with his questions ( takes pictures and fingerprints)

Officer: do you have any family or friends here

Me: No, just me on vacation.

Officer: have you been here before?

Me: No, first time in the US.

Officer: ooh I see. So how do you intend to get around?

Me: For today taxi, subsequently metro and taxi to some places. My hotel is right in the middle of most places I want to visit.

Officer: which places will you visit?

Me: I am going on a museum crawl.. I will visit all the smithsonian musuem.. Especially the one about black history. I have forgotten the name. And ooh I will definitely visit the home of George Washington and take loads of pictures

Officer: (he smiles) seems like you have everything well planned out.

Me: ooh Yes! ( with a short laugh) I dont intend to waste my 8 days.

Officer: You are staying for 8 days?

Me: Yes

Officer: How much do you have to spend?

Me: I have 2k cash and I have my debit card incase of emergency

Officer: Ok (flips my passport and checks something on his computer) What do you do back home?

Me: I lecture

Officer: What do you teach?

Me: (I list the modules; I have a strong feeling he retreived my ds160 form because he was looking at his computer while I was listing them)

Anyway, he stamped and signed.
Handed me my passport and said enjoy your vacation.

I replied thank you and walked majestically (lol) to pick my luggage and headed to my hotel in a cabbie.

By the way United Airlines wanted to kill me with food in economy seat. The main meal was wierd but tasty.
The served snacks and drinks like 3 times. I even got ice-cream ( my fave).

Thank you for being kind to respond.I am actually working with one of the Federal govt agency,I earn a little above 100k and single.Do I stand a chance
Nobody can answer that except the VO. If your bank balance is good enough to sponsor the trip then go ahead..
The thing is, the VO basically decides your visa fate within a few minutes. So alot of factors are put into consideration (the form and your presentation at the interview)

Hello my people,is it logically OK to fill in the DS form that a phd graduate who is inviting his mum and brother can handle the finances while there. How would it come across to a V.O during an interview.
Well the major questions are; what is the PhD student's source of income? Is the income enough to foot all the vacation bills? Is the source of income verifiable and legal ?

My point exactly. When Haryoureendey4 said that he will srart giving 40% of his income to whoever will bring him to the US, I am afraid that when it will be time to pay back his benefactor things may turn ugly and ending up with someone be charged with human trafficking
I think you are reading a different meaning to his post.. I understand he wrote he wants to be a 9ja tailor to people based in the USA. And then give 40 % of his proceeds for referalls. I think he is just advertising his craft.

Hello everyone. I hate to do this, jump into a thread on nairaland without reading to get a proper feel of the thread and asking questions that have already been answered. but I am pressed for time and I just discovered this thread today through a google search. we have an interview for B1/B2 visa very soon. The application was packaged by my husband and I never showed interest in it really because I am not really interested in U.S. However, my hubby for some reason thinks if a person has not visited U.S, he or she is not made or something. And he thinks he has a better chance if we apply as a family, hence the family application. He applied as a single person in 2014, he says he had a good interview with multiple travel history to the UK, but the VO asked him if he was married or had any kids and he said no. he was refused. He believes the refusal was because he had no family ties. Now we have a daughter. Suddenly I am apprehensive about the interview, I hate failure. How do we show ties to the Nigeria. I work with a bank, earn N385,000 monthly. He has a business, annual income about 2.4-3million. We live in our own home (although I don't know how to show the VO that). We have no intention to remain in the US. I have 20 working days leave pending for the year (haven't used any leave days). We plan to spend 2 weeks. our daughter is a baby so she has not started school. My husband's cousin has invited us to stay with his family in the US. Any pointers for our interview? Anything to note? General Advice? will appreciate comments. thank you.
sorry for the long post. trying to give enough background info.

Well all I can say is that your profile seems okay. I will advice that you inquire from hubby and know every single detail of what he filled on the form.
Also, when you go before the VO appear very relaxed and calm.. Dont give off any aura of "I really want this visa". If you and hubby are not good public speakers, practice in your mirror.

You will be asked questions about your place of work, your earnings, where you are going to stay in the Usa, your family income, maybe something about your child's education, your budget for the trip etc. Answer all these questions truthfully and you wont have any problems. Dont let the high rate of refusal pressure you.

Most importantly you and hubby should sit down and review his previous application. Ensure he did not lie in that application. If he did, he should come clean to the VO.

All the best.

Good day house
Quick question pls

Is it awkward going for a vacation during this period since its winter over der.

Will it sound inappropriate at POE

Has anyone here gone for a vacation during winter period .
Thanks
I am glad you asked this question . I had the same concerns because I am planning to spend a few weeks this November in US . My plan was October which I filled in my form and I also stated its for a short vacation. I am not so bothered because if he can approve for October then there is no difference between that and November.

American embassy is no more issuing visa to Nigerians even if you have a good job ,family and travel history ,there are only issuing to elderly people ,unless of course you are ready to part with 56k and waste of time of course
That is a wrong generalisation.

Hello guys , i really need possible questions which they might ask at the embassy for a visiting Visa ..my interview is on the 17th of this month .I need help guys ..I'm pleading with everyone .If there's a link or something please kindly advise me ..
I dont think anyone can correctly answer that. The questions you will be asked will depend on your profile which is gotten from the information you gave on your application form.

The questions are geared towards detecting if you lied on your form to the best of the VO's ability. Some questions are generic tho. Go through this thread and you will see those ones.

Actually you may be. People are allowed on discretion of immigration usually for upto 4 8hours as omobendel said

The US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand visa are all qualified for discretionary entry into the UK

If you headed to or from the US via LHR on VA or BA, that US visa actually qualifies you for an entry into the UK for no more than a night I think (48hrs maximum they call it but not up to), but DISCRETIONARY, at the discretion of their immigration, that's what he's saying to you.

On the other hand, if you are talking of just transiting without coming out of the airport - which I assume you are actually talking about - you are good to go, it's standard, you are qualified for such transit no doubt at all.

New and additional info supplied you now as well as others previously unaware, enjoy!

Regards..
Thanks alot.

Nope, you don't need a visa since you are not checking out.
Some countries require transit visa even if you are just at the airport. especially if your layover is up to a certain number of hours.

So I tried to find out if one needs a transit visa for a layover at Heathrow. It seems that with a valid US visa you dont need that.

please I need confirmation on this.

Please does anyone know why i cant book a B1/B2 visa for Abuja. Whenever I try it keeps saying "you have exceeded the limit for viewing this page and your limit will be reset as of tomorrow". Also I noticed I can't see a "First Available Appointment" when its for Abuja but i can see same for Lagos. King view the attached photos for the messages I’m getting pls?

Call the embassy. Their number is on the website. Make sure you have enough credit, like #500 upwards. They will tell you what to do. With issues like this it is best to hear from the horse's mouth.

It's a tour organized by the students representative council which law school authority has endorsed. There are other people going for interview as well not just her. But my friend is currently doing her NYSC. The tour will be sponsored by her father and she is 23yrs.

She should just try and pin point anything that shows she is returning after the trip ( call to bar is not enough tie for a single young corper). Take all necessary documents and hope for the best.
