Today was a remarkable one as several members of a cult group terrorising the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State reportedly repented and changed their ways. gave their lives to Christ.

David Ibiyeomie, the presiding Pastor of Salvation Ministries , enrolled them immediately into a bible school program with a promise to train each and everyone of them in a skill acquisition upon graduation from the bible school program.

The repentant cultists surrendered the weapons in their possession and promised to bring out more weapons and friends in the days ahead.

The surrendered weapons which were handed over to the Rivers State Police command today includes: 28 machetes, 2 axes, 1 dagger, 5 different live ammunition, 1 cartridge and charms.

A young man simply identified as Abraham has narrated his horrific experience after recently returning from Libya. The man left Nigeria for Libya walking on his 2 legs. Now he can only walk with the help of crutches. He was assisted to return home last Thursday via an International Organization for Migration IOM organised charter flight from Libya.

He narrated how a car smashed his leg in the North African country before speeding away. He was rushed to the hospital where he was treated. He now walks with the aid crutches.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the UN Migration agency assisted another 154 Nigerians to return from Libya via chartered flight. The returning migrants were provided with onward transportation, medical assistance, psycho social counselling and support by IOM in conjunction with government partners.

The remains of one Tamajo Hamidu at Masaboyi village suburb of Yerimaru in Taraba state, has been exhumed after he was attacked on a cattle ranch and brutally killed unprovoked by alleged Mambilla militia men from Nji village last Sunday (July,1,2018)..

The remains of Tamajo Hamidu was buried in a hidden location by his supposed killers to avoid being exposed.

According to reports, Mr Tamajo Hamidu is the first Fulani man to be brutally killed at his door step by the Mambilla militia men after the peace and reconciliation by the tribes in conflict without arresting any of the evil perpetrators.

The deceased has been laid to rest according to Islamic rite after his corpse was recovered.

Two persons were killed after being carried away by a raging flood earlier today at the school gate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). According to reports, the victims were trying to cross the road before they were swept away by the surging flood into the deep gutter by the road side.

A rescue mission was launched by the residents of the area as the corpses of the victims were recovered.

May their souls rest in peace.

A former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, who is now a bona fide staff of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has assumed duty as a students facilitator at the institution’s Abeokuta Study Centre in Ogun State.

Earlier today, the 81-year-old ex-president met with two final-year undergraduate students of Christian Theology, assigned to him by the university for supervision.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Abdalla Adamu, had soon after the former president’s graduation with PhD in January, appointed him as a facilitator.

A facilitator is a part-time academic coordinator for students in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system which open universities operate.

Mr Obasanjo, the first PhD graduate of the university, received his certificate in Christian Theology during NOUN’s 7th Convocation ceremony earlier this year in Abuja.

An African nurse has been jailed for 15 years following his conviction for rape in London.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the Sierra Leone man named Mohamed Kamara, 47, of Fleming Way, SE28 was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on Thursday, 5 July. He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period and will be made to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Kamara had been convicted at the same court on Thursday, 3 May.

The court heard that the victim was being treated at an east London hospital where Kamara worked as a nurse.

On 15 May 2017, he raped her before threatening her in an attempt to prevent her contacting police.

The woman told her daughter what had happened and she reported it to police.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command launched an investigation and Kamara was arrested.

Detective Constable Elli Amson, said: "Kamara deliberately preyed on a very vulnerable woman. He targeted her whilst employed in the capacity as a registered mental health nurse and this is a clear breach of trust and abuse of his position.

"I would like recognition to be given to the victim who, in such awful circumstances, found the strength to disclose this traumatic event to her daughter and come forward, despite still remaining in the hospital where the offence took place. Her bravery is truly commendable.

"If anyone has any further information regarding this male please contact the Metropolitan Police."

Recently, Nigerian airline, Air Peace raised one of its pilots, Sinmisola Ajibola, to the rank of flight Captain. The promotion made her the airline’s first female captain as she's is from a family of pilots - father and four brothers, three of whom are with Air Peace.

The female pilot shared her story with Air Peace crew after the historic decoration.

CC: How do you feel becoming a captain?

CS: I’m very excited for this day, it’s a day every pilot looks forward to. I’m really excited and elated to experience this day.

CC: I can say you are from the home of pilots – your father, four brothers and now, you. What really is the interest here?

CS: (Hesitates) I remember growing up, I used to wear my dad’s hats and jackets, which used to be oversize for me, and say, “Oh I want to fly, oh I want to fly.” Then he just used to laugh and say: “Oh when you finish school (university) and you get your degree, then tell me again if this is still what you want.” Then, along the line, I would tag along on flights with him. Then my other brothers started the same thing: “We want to fly, we want to fly.” So, my dad made a joke that if he were into some other business, was that how we would all want to tag and follow him? But, all in all, I think basically, he contributed hugely to us being here today. We watched him, we admired him, he was a very good example for us. It was not hard, we did not have to think about it to want to follow his footsteps. It was not a hard decision. We are happy we did, we are glad.

CC: A lot of people are scared of flying, let alone talking of being in charge of the cockpit? So, what scares you about the job?

CS: Scares (pauses)… I think the more you fly, even if you have thousands of hours, there are times you will have fears in the cockpit, maybe weather or something, but that is where the training comes in. We go through rigorous training from time to time and all that, and that makes you more comfortable to handle any situation. And going forward, it is still mostly the same thing I have been doing, you know, only that it is more responsibility – I am looking after everybody at once. But I do not really think I have or I should have any particular fears about flying.

CC: Men especially are not comfortable having women in the cockpit. Is that justified?

CS: (Chuckles) It’s funny, because there are times we are boarding and the men will see me in the cockpit and they will behave like: “Is it a female flying us? Are we safe? Are we safe? And we laugh about it, because it is 2018 and we expect people to be conversant with having females in their cockpits. But I guess we will give them a little more time to understand that what the men can do, we equally can do.

CC: Let’s go controversial here now. Between men and women (pilots and captains), who do the job better?

CS: I would not want to go controversial to that extent. I think we (men and women pilots) equally do you job. There was a time years ago when they said women were more patient; they think better in handling things. But in this profession, I think the training and a lot of factors come into play. It is not all about gender most times.

CC: What should we expect now that you have been elevated?

CS: At the end of the day, it’s wisdom and hopefully, I get better really. I strive to be a better person. So it’s just to understand the profession and my career, and just work with what I have. I am glad to have supportive colleagues, a supportive chairman and our captains, training captains, so it does not seem like it will be a difficult road to walk. Inasmuch as there will be challenges, definitely we will overcome those challenges.

A notorious and serial kidnapper popularly known as 'General was today shot dead in Omademe Community of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State by the Nigeria Police Anti Cultism Unit. According to reports, the infamous hoodlum had been a terror in the community before a manhunt was launched by the security operatives.

He was reportedly killed in a gun battle with the security agents.

A man identified as Mr Uwem was caught this morning by some men after allegedly stealing money from a man's pocket in a moving vehicle in Akwa Ibom state. The incident happened in a mini bus heading to Ekom Iman junction from Plaza in Uyo, the state capital.

It was gathered that the suspect after achieving his aim, alighted from the bus along University of Uyo Teaching Hospital at Abak Road and was about to board a tricycle. That was when the victim noticed that his pocket has been emptied.

The victim raised an alarm as the suspect was chased and caught and was taken to Etinan park at Ekom Iman junction where he was mobbed and beaten.

While affirming his guiltiness, Mr Uwem who hailed from Ikot Akpan Abia, Ibesikpo pleaded for forgiveness.

" I followed him from plaza when I noticed that there was money in his pocket, please forgive me," he said

The suspect was later set free by Chairman of the park after pleading for mercy.

A gallant police officer has passed away following a mysterious circumstance which allegedly claimed his life in Abia. The policeman identified as Raphael Ukegbu of Area command, Crack squad Umuahia of Abia state police command, died after suffering from a sickness allegedly gotten mysteriously, according to an online report.

A reporter, Promise Uzoma Okoro revealed that he confirmed the officer's death after reaching out to his wife.

A 17-year-old girl simply identified as Peace was rushed to the hospital after feeling weak following a hot sex romp with her lover in Sapele area of Delta state. It was revealed that the teenage girl started feeling weak and faint after returning from work on Monday evening before she was taken to the hospital for checkup.

According to Sapele Oghenek, a Delta based journalist who shared the news in pidgin English, the doctor after running some tests - revealed that excessive sex was the cause of the girl's weakness before she was treated and discharged.

On getting home, the girl's mother who reportedly attends Jehovah's Witnesses beat her and told her to show her the boy responsible. The teenage girl took her mother to her boyfriend's house but he had already fled after being alerted.

According to the report, some area boys revealed that the girl's boyfriend had met them to help him with what to do because his girlfriend was laughing at him that he doesn't know how to service her well and last long in bed and that her ex-boyfriend was better.

The young man was directed to meet somebody who mixed a concoction for him to drink and be "empowered".

After drinking the concoction, he went into action with his girlfriend and almost wrecked havoc before she landed in the hospital.

The young man is nowhere to be found after taking off from his house.

Senate president, Bukola Saraki was totally shocked after 2010 World Cup champions, Spain were knocked out of the ongoing tournament by Russia. The senate helmsman who has been in Kwara state since Friday for series of events, watched the heated match as he was visibly surprised that the match ended in favour of the Russians through penalty shootout.

The 2018 World Cup hosts, Russia held their nerve to beat Spain to a ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition.

After playing a 1-1 draw right from the first half, Russia and Spain went all the way through extra time and there was nothing to separate the duo except penalty kicks.

As it turned out, the host were better prepared for that; scoring all their kicks. The 2010 champions could not do same; a development which has now seen Spain emerge as the latest big-name casualty at Russia 2018, after Germany and Argentina.

A clergy who lives in Enugu state, Okey Okibe is lucky and happy to be alive after being involved in a ghastly motor accident along a highway recently. The Reverend Father's car veered off the road and totally crashed in a bush nearby but he came out alive and without any injuries.

The priest had to pose near his damaged vehicle to take pictures after his near death experience.

A self acclaimed pastor was arrested by police authorities after he was allegedly caught with charms and other fetish items which he purportedly uses to collect money from the public. The suspected fake pastor identified as Ikechukwu Ogbonna from Ebonyi state - was reportedly in the habit of using diabolical means to collect dupe unsuspecting victims while preaching and claiming to be a pastor.

It was said the fetish items were found in a box he was arrested with which also contained his bible and preaching materials.

Facebook user Nwachukwu Success shared the news online on Friday, June 29th. He wrote;

This man was caught today as a 419 pastor, by the name Ikechukwu Ogbonna from Ebonyi state using charm to collect money from people. He does it as his occupation but to the glory of God he was caught and arrested today. Friends beware of fake pastors and prophets.

A notorious armed robber with one hand along with his accomplice got more than they bargained for after they were caught by angry villagers in Obeledu area of Anaocha local government Area, Anambra State. The suspects believed to have been terrorizing the community before their capture - were said to have been nabbed while trying to snatch a motorcycle from one man at gunpoint.

They were chased by the villagers and caught as the youths decided to make an example out of them by beating them mercilessly.

They were later handed over to Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.

Some Nigerians who absconded to other countries after traveling to Russia for the 2018 World Cup tournament, are now calling on the federal government to come to their aid. According to journalist Sapele Oghenek, the Nigerians fled into other countries from Russia in order obtain Schengen visa - with two dying in the process due to the cold weather.

It was reported that the group of guys paid N17,000 for a night just to hide themselves so that they won't be caught by security agents there.

It is said that when one's money finishes, the same foreigners who collected money to protect them from the police, will later expose them to the authorities.

Some Nigerians who can't afford the money per night, are said to be sleeping on the streets and also begging for money for food.

Due to the hardship they have experienced in the past few days, the group of guys who are staying in one room - decided to contact the journalist in order to publish their story so that the government will come to their aid.
