An alleged victim of domestic violence has raised an alarm after accusing her husband of beating her mercilessly. According to the woman, her husband beat her after she requested for feeding money from him while he was about going out. She alleged that the husband told her she doesn't have the right to walk up to him in his car to disturb him over money and that any day he does not keep money, she should know that he doesn't have. The woman was left with an injury resulting from the alleged brutalisation. She shared her plight with human rights activist, Emeka Ugwuonye. According to reports, the Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS) headquarters in Abuja is currently on lock down following the sacking and arrest of Lawan Daura, Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS). The former DSS boss was fired by Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari. Daura's sack happened after the deployment of DSS operatives to the National Assembly. He was arrested by a combined team of the Police and the Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS). An eyewitness Kamen Chuks who stays in Abuja shared pictures of the SARS office as he said the operatives have driven away all civilians away including visitors ,staff and auxiliary workers and told them to come back tomorrow. Wild jubilation erupted at the National Assembly after the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki entered the complex this afternoon after DSS invasion earlier in the day. Saraki greeted the Senators and members of the House of Representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who have been laying siege at the entrance of the Senate and House of Representatives chambers. The Rivers State government has opened an education endowment fund for the children of late Joseph Blankson. Mr Joseph Blankson drowned recently after saving the lives of 13 persons who faced death following a boat mishap in Bakana in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State. He drowned while attempting to save the 14th person. The State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, announced endowment fund while receiving the family of the late hero at Government House yesterday afternoon. Governor Wike who condoled with the bereaved family also gave immediate employment to the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Mercy Blankson, a graduate of microbiology and advised her to put the money in a scheme that will best benefit the children and guarantee their future. The governor further directed the Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Council, Hon. Tony Philmoore, PhD, to collect Mercy Blankson's credentials to perfect the employment offered to her by the government. Governor Wike also donated to the burial of late Joseph Blankson Responding, elder brother of Joseph Blankson, Ikronibo Anthony Blankson, thanked the governor for the largesse and prayed for God's blessings in his life. On Saturday, 4 August 2018, while on clearance operation along Gbajimba - Akor axis in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, soldiers encountered armed Fulani militia men with large herds of cattle. The troops dislodged the armed militia men from their camp following a superior fire power. Unspecified number of the armed Fulani militia men have been suspected to be killed by the troops while others escaped into nearby bushes with gun shot wounds. Efforts are on to get other fleeing members of the armed militia men by the troops. Items recovered include: a. One AK 47 rifle. b. A young lady who recently cheated death following a road accident, has nothing but praises to God for her miraculous survival. According to her, she was involved in a fatal accident which killed about four people and injured many others after their vehicle crashed and somersaulted multiple times. The lady revealed she came out of the horrific accident without any scratch but was taken to the hospital for routine checkup. She shared the good news via Facebook as she wrote; God save me from this accident were 4 died many with broken legs and arms but I came without stain. Help me thank this Great God. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bayelsa State, Chief Perekeme Richard Kpodo, who was remanded in prison custody for alleged rape in Yenagoa, the state capital - arrived in court earlier today on a stretcher. Chief Perekeme Richard Kpodo, the former Security Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, Kpodo, was arraigned at the Magistrate Court 10 presided over by E.T. Empire-Ugwa on two counts of unlawful detention and rape of one Teke Blessing. Kpodo was alleged to have detained Blessing on June 20th, 2018 at Etegwe area of Yenagoa with an intent to defile her and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 155 of the Criminal Code. On count two, Kpodo, a former Security Adviser in the state, was said to have on the same day he allegedly detained the girl raped her thereby committing an offence punishable under section 285 of the Criminal Code. The accused person, who was in the dock, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyer, Julius Iyekoroghe, who was represented by Funlayeifa Seibokuru, quickly applied for the bail of Kpodo on grounds of sickness and personal recognition. He said Kpodo was hypertensive and suffered other sicknesses, appealing to the court to grant him bail. Three secondary school students were apprehended over cult-related activities in Obosi area of Anambra state following a tip-off. The students are : *Chidera Amuta (17yrs)...Umuota village. *Chinaza Anene(17yrs) .......Umuota Village. and, *Isaac Nworu(17yrs)...... Ebonyi state. According to reports, the students of community secondary school in Obosi (SSS i and iii), allegedly belong to Junior Vikings Confraternity (JVC), Darkness Confraternity and Viper Confraternity respectively. According to reports, police men have arrested and detained some youths along Bank road in Owerri, Imo state capital. The youths were arrested on their way to a burial ceremony for allegedly failing to stop at a checkpoint. Information gathered has it that their vehicles refused to stop for a normal police check before they were intercepted and arrested. It was alleged that firearms with live bullets were seen in one of the vehicles when the vehicles were searched. They have been fingered to be cultists. A 38-year-old Nigerian man identified as Unchenna Nwanokwu, is being haunted by the police in UK over an alleged connection with a serious assault which has left a woman in a serious but stable condition. According to the Metropolitan Police, Unchenna has been declared wanted after they were called to reports of an assault on Saturday, 28 July at 18:40hrs at an address in the E15 area of Newham. Officers attended the address where they forced entry and found the victim, a 26-year-old woman, suffering injuries. She was taken by the London Ambulance Service to hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition. Officers believe Nwanokwu - who was known to the victim - carried out the attack. He is known to have links to the Battersea and Croydon areas. Detective Constable Lucie Fish, attached to Forest Gate CID, said: "We would urgently like to speak to Unchenna Nwanokwu in regards to this very violent assault. Report has it that the contingent from various African countries billed for the African Senior Athletics Championships are stranded in Lagos due to flight to Asaba, venue of the competition being unavailable. It was revealed that the athletes who managed to reach Asaba had spent at least a night in Lagos and many without their luggage. An International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) observer for the event beginning on Wednesday, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) anonymously that he arrived in Lagos on Sunday but could not get a flight to Asaba. “A lot of us had to pass the night in Lagos and at about 4 p.m. the following day, we boarded a local flight to Asaba,’’ he told NAN on Tuesday in Asaba. “By this time, the African contingent have increased in number and only limited spaces in the flight, so, a few had to stay back in Lagos. “As I speak to you, my luggage hasn’t arrived in Asaba. We were told to go to the Asaba International Airport later in the day to see if they have brought them. “I am still on the same clothes since yesterday. It is just a terrible situation,’’ he said. Abdoulaye Thiam, a Senegalese journalist, currently stranded in Lagos, told NAN via a social media platform that he had arrived on Monday but remained in Lagos due to same issue. A tragedy was averted this evening after a driver ran into an iron pole along Ring Road in Benin city, Edo state. The incident happened just this evening after the driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the pole which stopped it from crushing other properties in the process. Report has it that no casualties were recorded in the accident as passersby gathered at the accident scene to help the driver. A video is currently making the rounds online show the moment a young boy was beaten to pulp while being initiated into the Eiye Confraternity. The initiation which reportedly happened recently - took place in a bush as other cult members participated by beating the new member to pulp. In the video footage, the young man was unclad during the course of the initiation as he was made to swear an oath and forced to eat and drink some substances by the gun wielding cultists after pledging his allegiance. The cultists still continued to beat him despite the blood that was gushing out from his body after much drilling. Nigerian internet users have reacted to the video footage which is trending online. The Member of Parliament for Otuke County in Uganda, Julius Acon Bua, has killed a stray dog who attacked him. According to reports, Julius Acon Bua - was attacked this morning as he jogged past a gate in Kampala, the country's capital city. He said the dog attacked him and bit him on his leg as he immediately engaged it in a fight for his life. Julius Achon says after a street battle for some minutes, he managed to kill the dog. He said he took the 'attacker' to the police, where he recorded a statement before he went for vaccination against rabies. Mr Achon said he pulled his martial arts skills to kill the dog, otherwise he would have been killed. There was massive jubilation by hundreds of African migrants after forcing their way through the heavily fortified border fence separating the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta from Morocco. According to reports, the migrants used circular saws, shears and mallets to cut through the wire in order to gain entry on Thursday. Around 800 migrants tried to push through the barrier at dawn, the Interior Ministry said in a statement, deterring police from intervening by hurling plastic bottles of excrement, quick lime and using makeshift flame throwers.
