Got U.S. C1/D Visa Before, But Denied B1/B2 3 Times + F1 Recently – Need Advice posting to get some more inputs Hello Nairalanders, Please I need honest and constructive advice on my U.S. visa journey. So far, I’ve been denied the U.S. visa 4 times, and I’ve been approved once. Here’s a breakdown: I was granted a C1/D visa (transit/crew visa) earlier in my career. ( which i used to go across several Us cites for work and to the Caribbeans also) I’ve applied 3 times for the B1/B2 visa (visitor/tourist) before getting the job that requires the C1/D1 and was denied each time. Most recently, I applied for an F1 student visa, and for masters degree program to further my career prospects and that was also denied. I’m now planning to apply again for the F1 visa and I’m trying to understand what I may be doing wrong, and how best to approach the interview this time. What can I do to show my genuine intentions ? Please, I’d appreciate advice on: What are visa officers looking for when it comes to F1 visas? Could my past B1/B2 denials affect my current chances? How can I show strong ties to Nigeria even though my mother lives in the U.S.? How can I answer my family ties and mum in the US question? Should I wait before reapplying or go ahead and try again soon? Any tips on how to explain my past visa history without looking suspicious? If anyone has been in a similar situation or has worked with agents/lawyers that helped, feel free to share as well. I’m serious about doing this the right way and would be grateful for any help or guidance. Thanks and God bless. |

Good day house, Quick question What is the best approach to interview for a grandparent who is going for an interview alone and doesn't have good command of the English language ? Is it possible to have a translator go with him/her ? is that allowed what other ideas can one use to approach such a situation ? Thanks in advance. |
Good day Everyone, thanks for the contributions and insightful directions. Please I want to inquire what happens when someone is turned back for not having the same DS-160 number on the appointment form as that on the barcode ? Does one loose the MRV fee ? if not how does go about rescheduling ? How does such a situation appear in the AVITS profile ? does it appear 'Not appeared for appointment' ? or is there any other connotation ? Thanks for the insights in advance. |
ednut1:The issue is that he only noticed it at the VFS office yet the VFS officer accepted it his passport . I will send a webform though |
Hello wonderful people of this forum, I am in a bit of a heckle here, my dads TRV was applied for may 2022 and was approved dec 2022. However, the email wasnt checked up (due to him receiving medicals) until last week and we saw the passport request. The request letter clearly stated 30 days which elapsed on December 2022 , what can we do this address this situation and What are our options ? Thank you so much for your input in advance.

Good day everyone , thanks for your efforts and clarifications on here. Please I do have a bit of a hiccup I am processing a family application but opted to book appointment first before submitting the DS-160 form. Now I have a date and i seem to have forgotten the DS-160 security questions for one of the applicant who is not the principal applicant , I tried updating (new Ds-160 number )from the CGI website but it only allows the principal applicant update. How do i go about this as i have tried everything i can and the old form doesn't seem to respond to my answers. Will it be possible to get it updated at the embassy on the appointment day, if so how do we go about it? if not what are my options at this point ? Thanks. |
Yes he is legally resided in Thailand, he is a student currently doing his masters just wants to go for a MBA in canada. The notes say job opportunity in country of residence which is thailand. I still dont understand why they would think he wants to come back to thailand and not his home country nigeria and we stated explicilty in the SOP. Chocs: |
Good day Good people, Hope we are all safe. please a friend of mine just got denied and attached is the reason. He did his bachelors in Thailand and extended it to a masters but wants to finish up his masters in Canada. We showed solid home ties to Nigeria and am surprised they evaluated him based on ties to Thailand. Please wats your take on this? thanks. why will they think he wants to come back to Thailand and not his home country of Nigeria to work. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your immigration status. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence. |
[quote]@osaretin which institution? |
Trizadove:Good cgpa first , it should be 79.2 on a scale of hundred I am afraid nobody can tell you explicitly what you want to here. We are not on the admissions committee but vaguely speaking you can get because you meet the admission requirements and it is largely dependent on your ability to find a supervisor. Except you get some kind of entrance scholarship which is highly competitive and depends on if there are students with a better profile than you in your intake. Since it’s research your going for my advice email professors widely even when not mentioned on the school website. Widely I mean most or every school that has your research interest. Like bioengineering and all. Remember mails are free so don’t hoard them. |
Good day peeps , I would like to ask if anyone can suggest schools that can take one with a 2.74/5.00 Nigeria scale in any msc geology related program ? Thanks for your time. |
Omowunmibaby:She can study nursing , it all depends on which capacity she wants to be it a bachelors , RN , or other diplomas. The battle is with the requirements of her chosen higher institution. One thing am sure of she would get courses waived for her. Effective school search is the key , make research peruse online platforms and find the matching program for her. Don’t hesitate to send mails across to clarify discrepancies. For it is written in the holy book only when you ask shall it be given to you. Let her cross that hurdle first before thinking Of perfecting an SOP for the VOs |
beeesko:Your profile sounds nice Good home ties I see there with a perfect SOP your there. As for the funds you will have to get a school to match your budget excluding the 10k cad required to show for living expenses in a year , we have 7m left a 20 k cad school below will be nice for you. But you will need to show proof that the money will be replenished back. The school search is the hurdle to pass now , Just believe dats all you need. |

Philadelphia:As long as they can show the require funds your good to go, besides it doesn’t sound like you have much of an option. Submit and commit to God’s hands |
sflamez:This particular letter for the ESL program has no expiring date, so if you have paid the non refundable deposit your good to go. Besides you don’t need to worry about a new admission letter unless CIC requests for one. Just wait on your app |
CuteCeo:Try first your case might be different, never make assumptions from hear says |
jdhills: jdhills:Check the school’s website , if it is not clearly stated then it is not needed. You can mail the admissions office to confirm also. The 70 percent they state is their minimum standard for admission and doesn’t relate to WES in any way . Some schools have in house evaluators besides there is something they call international credentials equivalent on their website , there you will see the acceptable admission grade that matches your country. Always in the school of graduate studies website. |
princekins:WES converts your results to its Canadian equivalent while verification is done during conversion. You will need WES only if it is stated among the application requirements of your school |
odimbannamdi:Some schools don’t require WES evaluated transcripts in canada as they prefer their in house evaluations. However , more verified info can be gotten by maling the admissions office in your required school. If you already have you can make a request to the graduate program coordinator that you be allowed to apply with it. No harm in trial. If WES is accepted by the school yes they can , if to request with a fee of course send the hard copy to your desired institution. That is where saving cash comes in Because in the average the cost of sending transcripts form WES is cheaper and less stressful than from most Nigerian schools So WES saves you the stress and wahala of exams and records coupled with cash. Like I said only if your school accepts it. |
Harbhmborlar:Don’t limit yourself, send mails to prof for virtually every school that carries out research in your intended field. Baba mailing na free , you have an amazing profile most People with funding can’t boast of this your profile. Consistency and believe is key. Stay focused God’s speed |
jnyuwa02:Is it valid in CAD? , I know it has only a year validity. Seems I stumbled across someone saying only license done with biometrics can be used in CAD ANYONE WITH INFO SHOULD SHED MORE LIGHT |
charlyduru:Still waiting |
MISFITrep:I can’t comment on the current status at Vfs Lagos but vfs Abuja is and has always been a walk in. Yours letters can be addressed to Lagos visa office or Abuja visa office These forms are just cic customized forms required by Them. there other personal documents are required for a successful TRV approval. Do well to check this on page zero of this thread And yes please you can sign the forms with biro after it has been validated and printed |
Kinfinity007:What makes you think the outcome will be the different? Whatever it is that makes you believe that entrusting your destiny to the hands of an anonymous third party is best transfer you that believe to your self. What will he do differently that you can’t do You have this reputable forum solidly behind you Two heads are better than one they say , wat about multiple heads? When applying to schools depending on your constraints we have what we call ‘safe schools’ adopt that principle , this forums knowledge depth and almighty God’s grace. Nothing is impossible just Believe |
charlyduru:Really appreciate a response please! |
Good day everyone , I am in a bit of a dip here By God’s grace am supposed to leave to BC NEXT WEEKEND FOR SCHOOL and am currently trying to process my drivers license before leaving at least just to do capture and all but I was told I have to wait for a month for the driving school certificate to come out. But was given the idea of doing the driving certificate so that whenever I want to I can come back and do my license but paying ticket and coming back for a week cause of license doesn’t seem right to me Or do the INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS LICENSE INSTEAD which will be valid for one year So my questions are Experienced seniors, which step do you think I should take ? And also will the international drivers license be recognized in BC , I mean I am not driving anytime soon just want to keep it till after I graduate probably and heard some jobs need it? If I do just the recognized driving school certificate of what use will it be to me in BC ? Thanks for your well anticipated response. |
henricson:All the immxxx forms have their respective slots for upload and they won’t merge when you try to merge it with another. You upload SOP IN THE client information section and merge other documents with your Sop in that section That section and the financial section are the only once that need merging probably. Please ensure To open the imm forms with adobe reader and do validate them |
henricson:My bad wasn’t intended in way . Apologies God luck and success! |
