Ogao,
methinks the lack of a n organized planning  framework is killing us,maybe we should start following strict project management principles in  naija.
I completed the uk census process without any ado whatsoever and my mind went back to d 2006 census in naija.
I am not in any way comparing Nigeria with the UK or any western country but then we should start benchmarking ourselves against the best.

some of the comments and reasoning that i read here and in other posts only confirm the notion that a country only gets the leaders it deserves and that the leadership is a reflection of the pplehuh?.It seems that the passionate nigerians who want change dont really matter in the scheme of things .

For pple who check the link, the intercity 225s were built in the early 80s and have a top speed of 148 mph they are totally diesel powered and are the backbone of the UK train network ,GE has gone to dig up some legacy equipment for us for our dead tracks the same way the chinese did in the mid 90s during the abacha regime.I still dont get why we must always settle for the worsthuh?

The Article below was in Thisday in June 2006
May lack of information not kill us,meanwhile i will look to confirm te purchase of the other jets by obj

The Presidential Air Fleet yesterday in Abuja took delivery of a new Jet, a Boeing 737-800 business jet for the use of President Olusegun Oba-sanjo.

The new comfort plane designed to achieve maximum comfort for the President who can effectively functions as if he is in his Presidential mansion fully equipped with office and accommodation facilities cost the nation $72 million (N9.3 billion).
According to information available on Boeing web site, the annual fixed costs will be $7.9 million (N1.04 billion).

The plane, according to the manufacturers is deigned to take care of the need of "global leaders (who) need to fly farther in comfort, be productive enroute and reach business destinations relaxed and refreshed."

It also has three times the interior space of the competition at a comparable price and a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles, setting new standards in space, comfort, utility and support."
The plane, THISDAY gathered can fly 14 hours non-stop meaning that President Obasanjo can travel from Abuja to Washington DC in the United States without any stop over.
The plane which has ability to convey about 30 passengers has provision for Presidential office, executive conference area and first class ensuite bedroom.

"The plane ensures that you can maintain personal productivity even when flying 14 hours non-stop. Comfort such as a spacious executive suite with Queen size bed that allow you to get a goodnight's sleep. A dinning area is perfect for conferences or gracious meals, private offices are ideal for serious work or quiet reflection. With all the amenities of home and office, you can meet, eat, sleep and dine in comfort and are sure to arrive at your destination refreshed and ready for the business day," the manufacturer stated.

Boeing information service stated that the BBJ is not hampered by the number of passengers in its ultra-long range performance.
Designed to meet modern aviation noise level standards, the Boeing Business Jets has a sound level during take off and approach which has a low impact on nearby communities.
There are only about 86 of the Boeing 737-800 business jets flying and the manufacturer make provisions that passengers in the plane get 100 per cent fresh air circulated every 3.75 minutes throughout the BBJ cabin.

Two control zones make it easy for passengers and crew to select perfect temperatures. An optional humidity control system and a fully automatic pressurisation system add to the level of passenger comfort. The low interior noise levels, can work quietly through the flight or get you a good night's sleep,? it stated.

The level of ignorance in Nigeria beats me,during his days OBJ bought at least two jets ,the NAF001  which is a boeing business jet and another one that was used by the office of the VP which i think was a falcon 900.For pple to come here and say that the last jets were bought during IBBs time is reALLY UNFORTUNATE.In a country where pple cannot eat 2 meals a day yet the politicians outdo their contemporaries in the first world in their extravagance.Aside ARIk what is the average age of the planes flying in Nigeria are they not all 737-200 and 300 series yet these retards continue to play on our intelligence all the time.OBAMAs jet is an adapted 747-200 bought in 1990 ,the uk does not operate a presidential fleet
May the Good Lord help us
PoliticsRe: Breaking News - The Nigerian Railway Is Back For Good. by chatterly: 7:24am On Mar 25, 2011
Kai,
See my people rejoicing over rehabilitating single guage railway networks built by the colonialists over 100 years ago.the new trains cannot even compare remotely with the UK high speed trains built in the early 80's which are still in use now and  have a top speed of about 125 mph and are diesel powered.a malaysian friend of mine was telling me that he considers the uk to be a 3rd world country compared to his country technology wise, this was because they were able to leapfrog a lot of the development stages and go for cutting edge technologies, meanwhile we are here recycling the same old technology that took my father from osogbo to lagos in 1955 and feeling cool with ourselves.I weep sad sad sad sad sad sad huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh

I can remember clearly that around 1996,PTF through julius berger relayed the whole of the lagos ibadan expressway since then the road has been abandoned except the few times where contracts are given to cronies to do some jobs they are not qualified to do like the joke widening carried out  3 years ago.
PoliticsRe: What Have We Learnt About Buhari by chatterly: 11:07am On Mar 20, 2011
A leader who had all te opportunity to enrich himself but never did, imagine that the man does not have a single house in lagos, while he was head of state he only needed to tell RASAKI OR AKHIGBE OR WHOEVER WAS GOVERNOR THEN TO ALLOCATE HIM 10 PLOTS IN VI EXTENSION AND IT WOULD BE DONE.
During his PTF days he could have acquired estates in Abuja and he never did. This 2 issues stand him tall in my opinion

A lot of the Igbo warriors on Nairaland cease to amaze me.
Most of them have not bought land not to talk of build house in lagos and here you are jeopardizing those who have.I wonder how many times tha Arabs and the russians brag that they own a large chunk of the land in Central London.Fact is the Land in a state is vested in the governor and he can revoke any c of o he wishes to without much ado.Let us stop all these things that would provoke Ibo bashing. How many Yorubas or Hausas have come to Ibo land saying they want to take over?let us not in our ignorance cause problems we cannot solve. Most of us are sitting in front of our computers in d uk etal. When landlords are refusing to let houses to Ibos because of these sentiments u are not there.A word is enough for the wise
