My dear, there is really no need to lash out on people. When you seek knowledge, there's alot you have to take to acquire it. Even in school, your teacher can spank you even when you know he/she isn't right. Life and people will serve you different dishes from the menu. The decision on what to consume is yours to make.

Sometimes, It's the hard spanks that set us on the right track. Just pick the answers you want and let the rest go. While I understand that some people might respond out of spite, you should also know that it's not everyday that a married man offers to help his pregnant friend with sponsorship proof. Many people here are married and they will react the same way this man's wife will react If she finds out. So, the right thing to do if you want to use your friend is to get his wife's consent(if you are sure of yoirself).

Your business is enough tie for you if you can prove that you have made consistently reasonable income in the past two years. (i.e option B)

But please for the sake of Peace, keep your cool and just learn as much as you can from here. Once you have the knowledge, nobody go fit do Shakira for you again. That's my two cents o!

My dear, I don't know your story and I am in no position to judge you but I believe there are things you aren't sharing yet.
It's either you aren't sharing the real reason you want to go to the US or you have just made up your mind to use your friend and you need some people to help strengthen their thought. If the former is the case, them you have to really come clean so that we can all give you the best possible advice (glad you know nobody knows you here)

However, if the latter is the case, them you don't need us. My visa was not gotten on the basis of pregnancy. I got my visa when I was 4 months gone. I knew I wanted to have a baby by I also wanted to attend a training that month. It was barely a month to my wedding.

The visa officer asked if I was married and I said " about to be married" then he asked if I have a child, immediately I told him we were expecting our first child with a hush sign. He smiled and asked if my fiance knew.... I said yes. He asked how far gone, I told him and that's all. When he asked if I would be going to the US for any medical treatment, I said I wasn't sure. I just want to go for this training and return for my wedding(now that's an obvious tie). I finally did not make it for the training but few weeks before I left the country, I sent a mail to notify them of my change of travel Intent. Today I am in the US. Not saying that you should tell lies. Sometimes, you just need to be honest to yourself, be confident (I don't see that part in you that's why I think you are keeping something away from us) find a way to get on the sentimental side of the vo and that's all. That was not my first us visa interview, I had never travelled outside Nigeria before but I had my tenses and pronunciations right. So much that the vo asked me how come I speak so well if I haven't travelled before. Bottom line is... Be confident, truthful to yourself. Sometimes it's the lies we tell that make us jittery before the vo

As for the man who was sent back..... I mean no offence but if you decide to go through an renowned unfriendly poe with that type of grammatical skill an lack of confidence, me sef I go do like say o no. Know you if I dey there. No offence meant buy we all need to get our acts together to face theae guys. I don talk plenty. Make I go chop.

thanks so much @Girlmummy, but I have a friend who applied for visa late last year and she said she was disqualified bcs she had only 3m her acct, she's not schooling anymore, she's a working class. Am really scared that was why I was thinking that using another person's own will be better. But I believe in God and I will do like you said. I will apply for interview tomorow. And let the house know how it went. and pls should I also go with the proof of my small shop incase if wants to know how I got the money in my acct?

She needs it for the Embassy. As long as she can cancel, it shouldn't be bad. The Embassy might find it quest able if she has accomodation for few days. That was just my 2 cents. You can profer better solution.

You can either use doctorespatati or get a doctor affiliated to the hospital yourself. Most people here use doctorespatati
Nogen:
Good morning. Please , those of you who have used Del Sol Medical Centre, how did you get a doctor's appointment? Did you get to choose your doctor yourself or was it doctorparati that made the choice for you. I need to understand how it works over there. Thanks Mamas and Papas.

Welcome
woaini:
So the eagle has landed.
Got to dallas today with lufthansa.
The flight was really good the service was top notch with lots to eat and drink. The flight from abuja was kinda empty though (I wonder why).

Straight to the matter.
As we landed in dallas I said a word of prayer stepped out and continued to call on God. I walked I did not feel I needed a wheelchair having sat on a plane for so long. It got to my turn and my conversation with d cbp guy went thus
Him: hi
Me: hello
Him: so where to and what brings you
Me:told him, to spend my maternity leave and give birth
Him: when last where you here, was it to give birth
Me: last year vacation
Him: have you made contact with a doctor
Me: yes and hands him burden of proof (notification of intent letter, hospital correspondence, doctors correspondence, maternity leave letter from my job) arranged in that order. It was intentional
He read them all then asked how much my care would cost and how much I had. I told him about 6k then I had 5002usd cos of exchange rate then my cards
He asked where I work, I told him. He stamped me in 6months. All this took like 3minutes. I was jumping for joy

To be continued........

Ok guys. I know some of you have been expecting updates. I finally arrived elpaso airpot at 11pm (4am nigerian time) but could not proceed to intown suites because their work hours is between 11am and 7pm. I wouldn't have been able to check in if i proceeded. I had to sit at the airport for 12 hours. Trued to book a hotel for the night but couldn't get any.

at 11am (6pm nigerian time), i proceeded to intown suites. I must say that my expectations were exceeded. Before i proceed,i would like you All to know that by this post, i do not intend to market any business but to clarify the doubts of some nairalanders who are sceptical and worried about the unknown..

If you like a serene atmosphere, then you have it there. I had met a fellow Nigerian at the airport who was also heading there. We were checked into our rooms in 5minutes. The rooms are tidy, with all the amenities they have on there. Its a two storey e-shaped building. Some minutes After the lady i met and i settled in, we decided to go to Walmart (which by the way is across the road from the suites) to buy a few things (mainly kitchen utensils). While we were stepping out of the premises, we heard ladies voices screaming (don't buy anything o.... From upstairs). We looked and there they are... More Nigerians. We were excited.went back upstairs and realised that we just saved plenty of money. We ended up getting pots, other utensils, blenders and stuff like that for free. they gave us some orientation, hooked us up with the cab guy who is almost like family to the suites. So in few minutes, we went shopping, came back, split the cab fare and we were all good. For african food that we couldn't find in Walmart, we went to an african store right by the block (we didn't know the place existed until the girls told us).

I have rad here in the past about someone's complaint that intown suites is more like a hostel and can make one prone to gossips and stuff like thAt. While i beg to disagree, i believe that we are Ll responsible for our choice of friends and association. I have been up since 5am but have been in my room working. I will only knock on someone's door if i have a question or need help and vice versa. Now i don't see why i will be a victim of girls talk if i act mature. Instead i look at it as an opportunity to learn from other people's experience, save a few bucks and not feel completely alone.

Having said all these, i wish to re-iterate that THIS POST IS NOT INTENDED TO MARKET OR SELL ANY BRAND.I'M SURE THERE ARE Other better places too. THIS IS SIMPLY A GESTURE TO CLEAR THE DOUBTS OF MANY NAIRALANDERS WHO HAVE BEEN WONDERING HOW REAL THE PLACE IS. I AM HERE NOW. IT IS REAL (would have put some pictures of what my room looks like up but i am not sure if the rules here allow for that )

Hopefully, this epistle helps someone now or later.

Hi all

I got to DFW over 3 hours ago. POP was super easy. Didn't last up to 2 mins

The conversation was simple
I got to the counter, looking very smart and confident. And before the CBP asked anything, I was quick to say "good afternoon, how are you today"
CBP: Great
I hand him my passport and the blue form I filled.
Cbp: why are you here?
Me: for a training and to have my baby
Cbp: when are you due
Me: May..... Next month
CBP :Do you have your hospital correspondence
Me: yes. Passed him printed copy of the document.

He didn't even take a look before he stamped me in for 6 months.

The I get to agricultural, they ask if I have any food. I said yes an quickly pointed at the bag Containing food items. The officer takes a brief look, takes out the onions and said it's only garlic that are allowed in. And that's it.

Lesson learnt : be super confident and friendly. Don't look scared or come off too friendly. That will make them think you have something fishy to hide.

As for money, try to hold a little below 10k. You don't have to declare your money if it's not up to 10k. I had below 10k.didnt declare it and it didn't come up in the conversation. However, when it comes up. Be truthful with how much you have.

Ensure to pack your food items in transparent nylon bags and label them properly. Its a great way to save time at agricultural and avoid unnecessary scrutiny.

I flew Lufthansa and it was super cool. We were fed 4 times and offered snacks and drinks at various Intervals. I had a pack of crackers in my bag but didn't even open it. I hope this helps someone else. All the best dearies

Thanks for this . how did you sort out accommodation?
Fizzywah:
Hi guys,

Finally got an appointment for my wife at Houston with Dr. Glenn Morgan

Vaginal delivery: $2000 (An additional $200 for an assistant surgeon if needed mostly for C.S
Caesarean: $2600

The hospital is Houston North West Medical Center. They have a discounted maternity package that includes:

- most lab work needed and they'll accept some standard tests done down here
- Vaginal delivery for 2 day stay is $2000.
- Epidural is $650 extra if needed.
- $100 Circumcision if having a male child.

Paedetrician's fees are different but shouldn't be much. Yet to call for those prices. We now have a July appointment with the Doctor. A typed and scanned letter was sent with the doctor acknowledging acceptance and fees to be paid by first visit.

Someone asked here and these are the details.

This is coming so late. Abeg no vex.

The hospital I used (MIHS) had an all inclusive package. So, same team of Doctors attended to my son all through our 2day stay. It could be different for other hospitals though.

Hello house!

Congrats to all the new mums.

Arrived El Paso yesterday, Monday.

POE was JFK and I flew Arik.

Wen I booked my flight, arik website said 34wks max. Bt I hrd they don't accept more than 28wks. I am 34wks so I got fit to fly showing 27wks.

I got to checkin counter and showed my fit to fly. They said they don't want to see it that I shuld go 2 port health and they will examine me and give a fit to fly cert. My hrt started beating o!

Wen I got there, d woman asked me hw mny wks I am,i said 27wks. She said that means I will be 36wks. That she will examine me now and find out d truth. So I lay down and she measured and behold she got 27wks. Another woman, came and measured me and got the same thing. They were both shocked for reasons I do not know *eyesrolling*

I was shocked myself cos my doc measured me on Wednesday and got 33wks. God at work o! They sha gave me d cert with 27wks on it,paid a fee of 2k and I left.

Flight was ok. There were some empty seats on the flight so just went there, lay down and slept wella. Food wasn't so bad.

At POE,only two questions were asked: "wat are u here for", "have u been to any African country recently". Finish! No sec inspection.

I declared I had food so was sent to agriculture‎. D guy jst asked if I had yam, vegetables or fruits. Said no and that was all. Told me I can go.

I carried enof food...even palmoil, indomie onion chicken bt to God be the glory, non was seen.

God is,and has always been awesome.

I'm at El Paso now.

Just tot to share my experience.

TravelRe: General Australian Visa Enquiries by chidaroy(f): 8:27am On Apr 01, 2015
Hello. I see that nobody has really made an input. So as my usual blunt self I will tell you exactly how I see it. You have been dating a person for five years without both families' involvement but just in split decision time frame you are considering a court marriage?. I hope you realise that a court marriage is a document that binds ger to you and vice versa till the marriage us dissolved? Questions are:
Whose idea is the whole marriage thingy?
What's top on your priority list (marrying her or getting a PR)?
I'm not sure you love her. Cos if you do, you wouldn't even consider marrying a citizen as a means to the end (I don't mean this in a disrespectful way)
Whose original dream is it to travel to Australia and why does your girlfriend want to come with you?
But most importantly, how old are you? If your parents do not think you should be talking marriage now, then I guess you are still a young man.

Mist young men of today mix ambition with sentiment but truth is.... One has to let go of the other.

To help you make your decision I need you to ask yourself one question..... If you marry and travel with her today and 5 years from now you can't get a PR because of your marriage to her, will you regret it? If your answer is yes, the you know what to do. If no.... That's also your answer right there. Good luck
JJC2OZ:
Hello All,

Have been making research about Australia, living and surviving, geting PR after studies, etc and came accross this thread. I must say you guyz ar doing amazing job.

I hav my own delima and wil like those studying and or living in australia to profer some advices. But first;

I wish to shear my own testimony, got my visa grant last week thursday 572 advance diploma, my college is in sydney.....now my queries:

I am suporting myself in this whole quest to acquire australia education with the ultimate goal of geting PR. I hv a girl frnd we hv known each other for the past 5 yrs now..tho no family introduction on both side as at yet. I did not include her in my visa application but now she wishes to travel wit me (on her own she has roughly 1M).
I am thinkin Weda to hv a court marriage wit her so i can apply for her spouse visa... Tho stil intend to keep families out of it cox my family wont advice that right now, they will rather say go first and and worry about her leta.

My major concern is since am targetin to get PR after studies, incase am not able to get PR with post study visa probably due to changes in immigration rule, job availability etc..I might hv an option of getting married to a PR/citizen as an alternativ route (but wit her in the picture this last option is close)

Please my ppl am really confused here....should i go along with her or hav her wait till I hv residency? Wil she be of any disadvantage to me over there regards to my PR inview?

P:S We started datin from school 2010 to date. After school she moved back to her family in nasarawa where she works (waitress in an eatries) while i work live in lagos..

Am really sorry guyz for this long epistle..
