Govenor of Niger State and Chairman North Central Governors' Forum (NCGF) Abubakar Sani Bello has extolled the virtues of Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as he turned 64.

Governor Sani Bello, in a birthday message, described the number two citizen of Nigeria as an icon of humility, discipline and a hard working leader.

The NCGF Chairman said the Vice President deserves to be celebrated as he has undoubtedly and passionately injected his intelligence in the growth and development of the Nation devoid of bias or sentiment.

"Mr. Vice President has severally demonstrated humility, descipline and passion in the discharge of his duties. He is such an intelligent and hard-working leader who has remained committed and unrelenting in the development of the Nation", he said.

He prayed God to bless the new age of the Vice President and grant him more wisdom as well as keep him in good health for the benefit of mankind.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has paid a condolence visit to the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Minna, Hajiya Hauwa Isah Wali to commiserate with her over the death of her husband Mua'zu Abdulhamid Wali.

Governor Sani Bello led other top government functionaries to the condolence visit at the residence of the deceased in Kontagora.

The Governor urged her to accept the death of her husband as the will of Allah, and remain steadfast in Him.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased

Some government officials on the condolence visit were Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane and Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe who led the prayer among others.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is saddened over the death of Alhaji Mu'azu Abdulhamid Wali, husband of the Permanent Secretary Niger State Government House, Hajiya Hauwa Isah Wali.

In a statement, Governor Sani Bello described his death as a sorrowful one to all that is associated with him

The Governor said death is however the will of Allah and that every soul must pass through it.

He commiserated with Sarkin Sudan, Kontagora and the entire Kontagora Emirate over the death of Late Abdulhamid Wali the Walin Kontagora.

He said that the Late Wali was an accomplished civil servant who dedicated his life to the service of the country and humanity.

The governor prayed Allah to forgive him his shortcomings, reward him with Aljannatu Firdaus and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

"Allah gives and takes life at his appointed time, I urge the family friends and associates to accept His will.

"Take consolation in a good, pious and religious life that he lived which is worthy of emulation", he said.

The Late Walin Kontagora during his service was the head of the National Library, Abuja.

Born December 1940, the deceased died after a brief illness and is survived by his wife, children and many grandchildren.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT BEGINS DISMANTLING OF ILLEGAL MOTOR PARKS

Niger state government has banned and is to commence the immediate dismantling of illegal Motor Parks in Minna, the state capital and other major cities as part of its efforts to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.

Commissioner for Transport, Hajiya Ramatu Yar'adua disclosed this to Newsmen at Government House Minna, shortly after the state weekly Executive Council meeting.

The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Garba Musa, said the ministry is a stakeholder and is not left out in the joint efforts to combat the security challenges bedeviling the state, hence the imperative need to dismantle illegal motor parks, particular in Minna Metropolis.

"All illegal parks are to be dismantled with effect from today and all our men will be on track. They will be on the field to enforce compliance. We are advising all commercial vehicular drivers to go back to the major parks and leave the environment they are presently occupying, he stressed.

Hajiya Ramatu Yar'adua disclosed that her Ministry has introduced and is to begin the E-registration of all motorcycle and tricycle owners with immediate effect in other to establish a comprehensive database of motorcycles and tricycle operators in the state.

She explained that after the E-registration, which is for both private and commercial motorcycle owners, each person would be given a renewable Rider's Card in a deliberate attempt to curtail their excesses and limit criminality in the state.

"We are going ahead with the registration of all our Motorcycles and Tricycles immediately. All Riders are expected to register, collect a rider's card, which is renewable every two years", she added.

According to the Commissioner, this will enable the state government establish a comprehensive database of all motorcycle riders and tricycle operators as well as those that are not commercially operating.

She urged them to, immediately, commence registration as the ban on their operation commences in earnest.

The Commissioner also revealed the approval by the State Executive Council for the introduction of an electronic monitoring and enforcement system for all traffic law violators.

Hajiya Ramatu Yar'adua said the move is to ensure strict compliance of traffic regulations adding that electronic instruments will be installed at all junctions and traffic lights such that every offending vehicle passing through those intersections will be tracked by the CCTV camera while central platform will be monitoring all vehicular movements to check violators of traffic law and will be immediately tracked and apprehended to face necessary disciplinary action.

The Commissioner also announced that the state government will immediately withdraw all government vehicle registration plate numbers as it has noticed its usage by individuals who are no longer government official.

"We are withdrawing all government vehicle registration plate numbers immediately and are re-registering them. Henceforth, all the allottees will be on our data bank and by the time we are tracking them through our E-enforcement, we will be able to identify the real persons that are supposed to be occupying those vehicles with those registration number", she stated.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has assented to two bills.

Governor Sani Bello signed the two bills into law at the Government House, Minna.

The bills are to "provide for the prohibition of indiscriminate felling of trees law 2020" and to establish the "Niger State Security Trust Fund law 2020".

The State Security Trust Fund seeks to address gaps in the funding of security, as the business of security does not rest with the government alone, but a collective responsibility and involved stakeholders in the business of providing security.

While the law for prohibition of indiscriminate felling of trees will help prevent deforestation in the State.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has inaugurated 28-members State and Local Governments joint revenue committee to improve revenue generation of the state.

Governor Sani Bello, who inaugurated the committee at the Government House, in Minna, explained that the Committee would be harmonising revenue collection system for the state and local governments, stressing that the effort was to boost the internally generated revenue of the state and local governments as well as halt the total reliance on Federal allocation.

"This total reliance on Federal allocation has affected the state as we are finding it difficult to pay salaries both at state and local governments levels.

"This committee will better serve the local government areas than the state because we have more population in the local government areas as all revenues will be in harmonised form," he said.

The Governor noted that the harmonised revenue collection system was in the interest of the people particularly at the local government level.

He reeled out terms of reference for the committee as thus: to harmonize task administration; deal with matters of common concern to the state and local governments; to enlightened members of the public on revenue matters.

Others are; to consider relevant resolutions to the Joint Task Board for implementation in the state and to advise the board on revenue matters.

In his remarks, Chairman of the committee, who doubles as the Acting Chairman, Niger State Board of Internal Revenue, Ahmad Garba Gunna, said that the committee will jointly work with all the 25 local governments in the State to ensure that they achieve positive outcome.

Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central Governors Forum, Abubakar Sani Bello has received, with great shock, the news of the death of Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Salihu Tanko.

The Governor, in a statement described the death of the Emir as collosal loss to the state in general and the Kagara Emirate in particular.

"We have lost a First Class Emir, a member of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, an Octagenerian and an Elder Statesman whose wise counsel has been of immense value to this administration and those before it in the state.".

The Governor described the late Emir of Kagara as symbol of humility, patience and peace-loving person who has brought immense unity and progress to his emirate adding that he would be greatly missed.

Governor Sani Bello commiserated with the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the immediate family and entire people of Kagara Emirate, and prayed Allah to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi and the family the fortitude to be strong in this trying times.

Alhaji Salihu Tanko, who died Tuesday, in Kagara, headquarters of Rafi Local Government, was born on 5th April, 1930 at Tegina and left behind Wives, children and grandchildren.

A disciplinarian to the core, the late Emir of Kagara Alhaji Salihu Tanko was appointed District Head of Tegina in 1971 and became a Second Class Chief of Kagara in 1982 and subsequently elevated to the status of a First Class Emir in 1991.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO CREATE CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR PRIVATE DRIVEN STATE ECONOMY

Niger State Government along with the private sector will cooperate towards creating a conducive environment for private businesses to drive the state economy.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello disclosed this when he received Niger State Coalition of Business, Professional Association (NICOBPA) at the Government House, Minna.

Governor Sani Bello said that there is much reliance on the government even when there are so much opportunities in the private sectors adding that the narrative has to change by encouraging private businesses to grow in the state.

"There is too much dependence on government, 80 per cent of dependence on government and we have great opportunities to go to so many other businesses in Niger State especially in agriculture and mining sector even other sectors", he said.

The Governor added that the state government will do its best to assist businesses to strive and that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies will be involved.

"We will continue to work with private organisations like you. What we need to do is to encourage people to go into businesses", he said.

As part of encouraging private businesses in the State, the Governor said that he had cautioned the Board of Internal Revenue on multiple taxations.

"I have already told the Board of Internal Revenue to be careful with the way they increase their taxes not to put burden on the people that pay taxes", he said.

He said that the state government was constructing roads linking communities that have business potentials across the state.

Chairman of NICOBPA who led the delegation, Mohammed Murtala Lawal said that their association's aim includes broadening and strengthening democracy, good governance by creating enabling business society as well as environment.

Lawal added that they have participated in a roundtable dialogue on taxation, security summit, gubernatorial debates and development of business agenda to identify the problems militating against business development in the state.

He identified some challenges facing business growth in the state to include; poor power supply, multiple taxes, poor access to credit, poor road network, security and inadequate water supply.

He however, commended the governor on the recent developments towards addressing some of the challenges.

"We want to commend you for the steps you have taken towards rectifying this highlighted problems and challenges", he said.

The chairman presented to the governor the business agenda for 2016 and 2019 revised version of the association.

AS KIDNAPPED KAGARA STUDENTS OTHERS REUNITE WITH THEIR FAMILIES

Niger State Government is to secure all its schools from all criminal elements to allow students and pupils pursue their education.

Hajiya Hanatu Jibrin Salihu on behalf of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello disclosed this while handing over the released abductees from Government Science College Kagara to their relatives in Minna.

The Commissioner said that plans were already on toward making sure that schools are safe in the state especially the boarding schools.

She urged the parents not to be discouraged by what had happened and stop their wards from schooling, emphasizing that government was taking precaution to make the schools safe.

The commissioner said that arrangements have commenced to allow the SS3 students write their final examination

“We are in contact with the SS3 students and working out how best we can help them so that they will write their exams. And I am sure at the end of the day, we will come out with something productive for them", she said.

She thanked them for their patience during the trying period, urging them to remain strong in trusting God.

Mallam Ubaidu who commended the state government for securing the release of the kidnapped victims, explained that he worked in collaboration with security agencies when the abductees were still in captivity.

He enjoined the students not to give up on their quest for education.

“I hope this will not deter you from education, because education is a weapon to fight against societal vices. Go home and be strong. You, the SS3 students read your books to prepare you for your exams. What you don’t understand, ask your friends. But, in all, see what happened to you as an act of God”, he advised.

Parents and relatives that were all around to receive their wards and other relatives could not hide their joy as they were visibly happy to be reunited.

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has signed two bills into law.

"A law to provide for the Niger State Violence Against Persons (prohibition) Law and for other connected matters thereto" and "a Law to provide for Premarital Medical Examination in Niger State 2020."

Governor Sani Bello performed the constitutional duties at the Government House, Minna Niger State.

Speaking after the signing of the bills Governor Sani Bello described the two laws as significant.

The Governor noted that with the two  laws particularly the law on Gender Based Violence Against Persons, all relevant agencies and committees connected with gender based issues will now have a legal backing in carrying out their responsibilities.

He appreciated the State House of Assembly Members for critically looking into the bills to ensure that they passed through all the necessary legislative procedures.

The bill to provide for the Niger State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) law and for other connected matters, which is said will help curb the increasing cases of Gender Based Violence in the state, was sponsored by Hajiya Binta Mamman, Member Representing Gurara Constituency in the Assembly.

Shaibu Liman Iya, Member Representing Suleja Constituency sponsored the bill to provide for Pre-marital Medical Examination in Niger State 2020, aimed at ensuring that all necessary pre-marital examinations are carried out before marriage in the state.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT REUNITE 53 NSTA KIDNAPPED VICTIMS WITH THEIR FAMILIES

The 53 abductees of the NSTA Bus that the Niger State Government secured release of, have been reunited with their families.

The Chief of Staff(COS) to the Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe along side other state executives met with the victims at a government facility in Minna to reunite them with their families.

Alh. Balarabe urged them not to allow their ugly experiences weigh them down but to see it as a phase in their lives adding that they should keep faith in God to overcome the trauma.

He appealed to the general public to show them love so that they can quickly adjust and continue living their normal life.

The Chief of Staff announced Government's support to the abductees to enable them settle and stabilize as they go back to their loved ones.

Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Makusidi said, following the directives of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello comprehensive medical examination was carried out on the released abductees and are certified healthy to be reunited with their families.

The victims were however grateful to the governnment that worked tirelessly to secure their release. Few of them that spoke the jounalists could not hide their joy.

GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO CALLS FOR RECRUITMENT OF MORE SECURITY PERSONNEL TO CURTAIL SECURITY CHALLENGES

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has called on the National Assembly and the Federal Government to expedite actions on recruitment of more security personnel.

Governor Sani Bello made the call when he received the Niger State caucus in the National Assembly on a visit to commiserate with the Government over rising cases of banditry in the State.

The Governor expressed concern with the insecurity in the State in particular and the country in general despite concerted efforts to stop it, pointing out that security agencies have been overstretched, inadequate and abscence of sufficient surveilance equipment to manage security challenges very well.

"We have being making all efforts to see that it is being curtailed but it's been extremely difficult mostly because of manpower shortage and lack of equipment. The strength of the entire Police in Niger State is just about four thousand, it used to be 14 thousand for Niger State alone. So you can see the police is overstretched and i believe even the Military is the same.

"I hope we can work together to support the Federal government so that they can do the needful of expediting actions towards recruitment of more security agents. t the same time, these days you need a lot of technology to deploy and to manage security very well. So i hope the National Assembly will support the Federal government when it comes to the statutory budgetary provision that will provide for these equipment",
he said.

He described the visit as a sign of unity between the State government and the National Assembly Members from the state adding that the secured victims are doing well and set to be reunited with their family members.

Governor Sani Bello expressed optimism that the Government Science College Kagara kidnapped victims will soon be released as efforts are being made tirelessly to that effect.

Earlier, the National Assembly Members from the State led by the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Abdullahi Sabi representing Niger North expressed worries over the security challenges in the state particularly in the past few days, describing it as shocking and touching thereby calling for prayers and divine intervention.

The Law maker said their visit is to identify with the government and people of Niger state, adding that it is a solemn period and of great shock not just for the Governor and his cabinet but the entire people of the state and the country as a whole.

"The incidences in the last few weeks have no doubt shook the foundation of the state and
the period calls for prayers, it calls for very strong introspection so that we can actually identify the problems and find lasting solutions to them", he added.

He said as representatives of the people from the state at the federal level, they have always presented insecurity cases at the floor of the House so that the federal will be aware of the happenings in the state.

The Chairman of the caucus then commended the leadership of Governor Sani Bello and his efforts towards securing the release of the 53 kidnapped passengers of NSTA bus recently.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has received 53 released Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) bus passengers that were abducted by armed bandits.

The Governor received them at the Government House Minna.

Governor Sani Bello explained that their release followed series of dialogue, consultations and hard work.

He said all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure they go through medical checkup and evaluation before they will be reunited with their loved ones.

"We went through one week of dialogue, consultations, hard work and sleepless nights because we had to secure their release within the shortest possible time.

"We have made all necessary arrangements to ensure that they go through a thorough medical therapy and evaluation and once that is done, then we can safely hand them over to their loved ones", he said.

The Governor expressed gratitude to God Almighty for showing them the way to secure the release of the kidnapped victims and also appreciated everyone who has played a role in the release efforts.

He specially thanked the loved ones of the abductees for the understanding they showed.

"We are grateful to God Almighty for guiding us, for protecting them, for showing us the way to secure their release.

"I will like to thank everyone that has played a role in this effort and also like to thank their loved ones for the understanding they have shown in this trying moment", he said.

The Governor however said that the Students of the Government Science College Kagara, are still in the hands of their captives but that everything is being done to ensure their release.

Out of the 53 released abductees, 20 are women, nine (9) Children and 24 Men.

They were abducted one week sago in the State owned transport bus at Kundu village while returning from Rijau, in Rijau Local Government Area of the State.

National integration and unity came to the fore as Governor Abubakar Sani Bello received members of the National Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on a sympathy visit over the recent abductions in Niger State.

Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (former Senate President) who is the leader of the delegation condemned the abduction and called for national unity to end the menace that has bedevilled the country.

Senator Saraki said that it was a national issue that should be devoid of partisanship, urging Nigerians to come together to solve the problem.

"This matter is a national problem and should not only be left to the Government, everybody even opposition, we should all come together and give support.

"When people are kidnapped they don't ask them if they are APC or PDP, they are Nigerians and as such we must have a national approach, we are all ready and willing to contribute our role", he said.

He said that even though they were on a different assignment, they had to visit the Governor to condole with the Governor, show their solidarity to the State.

Dr. Saraki called on Government at all levels to improve on technology and intelligence as well as provide initiative to tackle the problem.

The former Senate President prayed for the safe return of the kidnapped victims.

Governor Sani Bello while speaking said that the peace of the country should be made paramount as political activities can only thrive in a peaceful society.

The Governor appreciated the solidarity visit from the opposition and for their concern which was a way forward for national unity.

He said he still worried that the victims were still in captivity, but said that there is light at the end of tunnel as Sheik Ahmed Gumi has offered to assist with the release of the victims.

The Governor said that the bandits were having a field day in the state which was a result of its large size of landmass as they operate freely before help will come.

Among the members of the that came along with the Senator Saraki were, the former governors of Niger State, Mua'zu Babangida Aliyu, Cross River, Sen Liyel Imoke, Katsina, Ibrahim Shema, Gombe, Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former Leader National House of Representatives, Mulikat Akanbi.

The Committee members had earlier visited the Former Military President and Fomer Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar at their uphill residents.

Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State says Government is interfacing with security agencies, community leaders and relevant people to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped students, staff and family members of Government Science College Kagara as well as the NSTA bus passengers.

The Governor stated this when he gave an update on the abduction of students and other people at the Government House, Minna.

Governor Sani Bello who appealed to parents of the students and the people of the State to be calm as the Government was making frantic efforts, said that the release of the students and other people is their ultimate priority for now and that he is hopeful they will soon be released.

"I want to assure you that we are doing everything we can, we are interfacing with the local communities, federal authorities and our own state authorities to ensure that we recover the victims safely.

"Our utmost priority right now is to make sure we bring them back home safe, and that is exactly what we are going to do", he said.

He said his administration will ensure schools are more secured by fencing them and Strengthening the Vigilante group to compliment the conventional security agencies.

The Governor clamoured for more roles to be given to traditional rulers as they are closer to the people at the grassroots.

While expressing concern over the dilapidated structure of some boarding schools in the State, the situation which he said predates his administration, the Governor said under his leadership, nine boarding schools have been renovated, three each in the three geopolitical zones of the State.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has set up a three (3) man panel to investigate the allegations against the Shiroro Local Government Chairman that was suspended by the Legislative Council.

Inaugurating the panel at the Government House, Minna, the Governor said setting up the Committee is key in resolving the political impasse in the council and is in accordance with what the law provided.

He said he has no doubt that the panel will do justice to the issue and asked the committee to submit their report in four (4) weeks time.

"I have no doubt that you will do justice to it and come up with a report within the shortest possible time", he said.

The Governor directed the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Nasara Danmallam to provide the Committee with all that is needed for it to succeed in the task ahead.

Responding, the leader of the panel, Justice Halima Abdulmalik of the State High Court, assured the Governor that the panel will do its best in discharging its responsibility and will accord fair hearing to all parties involved. She also promised to complete the assignment within the stipulated time frame.

Recall that Shiroro Local Government Chairman was suspended in December 2020, by the Legislative Council following some allegations.

The Legislative Council equally informed the Governor of its resolution and requested him to set up a three man panel headed by a High Court Judge as required by the law, to investigate all allegations and report for necessary decision and action.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has paid a visit to Government Science College, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State where 27 students and 15 others were abducted by armed bandits.

Governor Sani Bello consoled the family of the student that was killed during the invasion by the bandits while assuring the relatives of the kidnapped victims of their safe return as government is on top of the issue.

"Our priority right away is to get the kidnapped students and 15 others, as well as the NSTA abducted victims unharmed", he said.

He said kidnapping has become a daily occurrence in the state and called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts and employ a new strategy to checkmate the menace.

According to him, payment of Ransome is not part of the state government's policy as obliging to the bandits demands will only but empower them with the resources to purchase more arms.

The Governor added that he was opened to any other form of negotiations including giving a new lease of life to the bandits who chose to abandon their criminal tendencies and embrace positive and humanistic lifestyle.

He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the swift response assuring that he would remain constantly in contact with the presidency on the security issues in the state until it is rid of these miscreants.

The Governor directed that the school be secured and rehabilitation work carried out on its structures while the management of the school should keep monitoring the students.

Earlier, Dan'asabe Ubaidu, the principal of the college narrated how the incident occurred to the Governor and the number of students that became victims to the armed bandits.

Ubaidu said that the 15 abducted were staff of the college and their relatives comprising of four male, four female and seven children.

Governor Sani Bello, along with his Deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, Members of the State Executive Council and high-profiled security officers were part of the visitation.

The College, established in 1969, presently has a total of 650 students.

Federal Government says measures are already in place to ensure the safe release of the abducted students, some staff and members of their families in Government Science College Kagara.

The Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed stated this when he led the Federal Government delegation to the State for a first hand information of what had happened.

Alhaji Mohammed who noticed that the State government has already swung into action, endorsed the steps taken and stressed that Federal Government will not surrender its sovereignty to criminals but reassured the people of the State in particular and Nigeria in general that no stone will be left unturned to ensure the safety of all.

The Security Adviser in his remarks Babagana Monguno said both kinetic and non kinetic approach will be used to secure the release of the students and others adding that there will be a confluence of efforts both political as well as military to resolve the issue.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari is resolved and determined to apply whatever it takes to ensure safety of lives and property in the country.

Also speaking, the Inspector General (IG) of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu said a lot of strategy has been put in place to deal with the situation adding the rate of Banditry and Kidnappings in the country has remained and issue of concern to the Federal Government.

The IGP stated that the Police is working, in synergy with other security agencies within the communities to ensure that the kidnapped students as well as others travelling along Zungeru-Kontagora road are freed unharmed.

He said the Force will reinforce the strategy deployed in the release of Kankara Students in Katsina State to aslo achieve the same feat in addition to using it's constitutional approach to tackle the situation.

In order to ensure the state is kept peaceful and the criminals dealt with, the IGP said the police has deployed four units of Mobile Police Force men to the state and is working with the Department of State Security Service (DSS) to reinforce security.





Earlier, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello had briefed the delegation on the security situation and the efforts made so far to ensure the safe return of the students and others that have been abducted.

He expressed delight over the prompt action taking by the Federal Government on the incidents and said he is hopeful that the abducted people will be released soon.

The Federal Government's delegation included Ministers of Information Lai Mohammed, Interior Rouf Aregbesola and Police Affair Mohammed Maigari Dingydi as well as National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno and Inspector General (IG) of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has expressed outrage at the recent killing of the Village Head of Kusherki in Rafi Local Government Area Mas'ud Abubakar and abduction of his wife, children and some others by Armed Bandits.

A similar attack took place at Kachuae under Munya local government area where nine vigilante were killed and twenty three (23) abducted.

The Governor, in a statement, said the increasing activities of kidnappers and Bandits in the state is becoming a nightmare to the people.

Governor Sani Bello described as callous and regrettable, the murder of the traditional title holder and numerous others challenging the security agencies to intensify their search to 'fish-out' and ensure that the perpetrators of such heinous acts are brought to justice.

"The situation, particularly in the last 72 hours, has become regrettably alarming! While efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the abducted NSTA passengers, we heard that of Kusherki and Kachuae. We are witnessing these attacks now, almost, on daily basis and it is worrisome", the statement said.

The Governor said the state government will not be deterred nor discouraged by the recent turn of events stressing that the existing collective resolve of government, security agencies and the people must be sustained to checkmate the situation.

He expressed regret that the infiltrating bandits are closely collaborating with some insidious Informants within the communities to attack them and tasked the people to provide more intelligence to the security agencies to isolate the informants in order to eliminate the bandits.

Again, the statement seeks more Federal Government's intervention to tackle the rampaging menace noting that banditry is becoming a situation of war in the state, hence the need for a fresh, sustainable and multidimensional strategy that will neutralize both the bandits and their informants.

Niger State has witnessed the influx of Armed Bandits in recent times, making sporadic attacks at villages, maiming, killing and abducting people with reckless abandon in some local government areas of the state.

Governor Sani Bello in a condolence message said death is the ultimate end of all mankind.

He enjoined the family members to accept the death of thier father as the will of Allah and take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and in accordance to Islamic injunctions.

The Governor prayed Allah to forgive the deceased all his shortcomings here on earth and reward him with Aljannat Firdausi.

He also prayed Allah to grant the family members the fortitude to bear the loss.

Late Yunusa Marafa Guni died at the age of 95 after a protected illness.

He is survived by 25 children, many grand and great-grandchildren.

Prominent among his children are the former speaker and State Assembly Member representing Chanchaga Constituency Ahmed Marafa Guni and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the current dispensation.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State says harmonized state and local government revenue law will reduce corruption and boost Internally Generated Revenue in the State.

The Governor stated this while declaring opened a 3-day training and interactive workshop on harmonized state and local government revenue law 2020 held at the Government House, Minna.

The Governor explained that the workshop was coming at a time when the state was going through financial challenges and the need to increase its revenue generation through harmonised revenue collection.

"The state has continued to experience shortfall from Federal allocation, therefore, it is necessary for the state and local governments to work together to increase our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

"Through harmonised revenue collection, we should be able to generate two to three billion monthly to augment what we get from federal allocation to make the state sustainable," he said.

Governor Sani Bello urged the revenue staff to expand their nets of revenue collection as well as avoid multiple taxation and burden on those that were already paying.

He added that security is among the problems hampering revenue generation in the state especially in some local governments and assured that things will get better.

The Governor maintained that harmonized law would be beneficial to both the state and local government and provide them with revenues to carry out their statutory functions.

He said that the state has the potential to be self-reliant through her internally generated revenue rather than its continued reliance on Federal Government Allocation.

The Governor identified agriculture, tourism and mining as some of the potentials, adding that if properly harnessed, will generate revenues to the state.

The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Nasara Dan-Mallam said that the revenue generated, when the law come to effect, will be domiciled with the State Internal Revenue Services.

Barr. Dan-Mallam stated that the harmonization process of the revenue started in 2016, and that the law has come to stay, saying it will lead to more revenue generation for the state.

The Acting Chairman, Niger State Internal Revenue Services, Ahmed Garba Gunna said the introduction of this initiative was aimed at building an ambitious revenue profile for the state and its LGAs.

Garba Gunna who disclosed that, since the beginning of this administration, the internally generated revenue has been increasing annually, assuring that they will explore more avenues using technologies to checkmate corruption and to generate more.

The Acting chairman, however, allayed the fears of the taxpayers promising them that there will not be multiple taxation on them.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Finance, Abubakar Zakari said the workshop is one of the many efforts of the State government to deliberately boost revenue generation in the State pointing out that this will chart a new course for greater revenue generation in the State.

He said though most of the machines in the printing press were installed in 1977, government will work towards repositioning the printing press to compete favourably with any other, by getting the needed modern machines.

The Governor maintained that equipping the printing press will boost the internal revenue generation of the State and stressed the importance of maintaining government assets.

" Once we are able to change some of these equipments, the Niger State Printing Press will become the State of the art Printing Press and will be able to compete with any other Printing Press. It will also serve as a source of generating revenue for the printing press and government", he added

Governor Sani Bello observed that Col. Cletus Emen was the last State Governor that visited the printing press, adding that the State has lots of investments in different places that have been neglected and need to be resuscitated to function effectively.

He said sustainability is very important and government investments should be made functional and effective adding that government will consider absorbing the adhoc staff at the printing press as many of the staff will be retiring soon.

Director of the of the Printing Press Hajiya Fatima Mohammed alongside the Permanent Secretary enumerated some of the challenges confronting the printing press to include inadequate staff, lack of modern digital machines, lack of utility vehicle, hazard allowance and a face lift to the entire structure.

They however appreciated the Governor's visit, and assured that with the availability of needed machines and patronage, the printing press has the capacity to meet it revenue target.

The Chairman House Committee on Rules and Business who is also a Member Representing Mokwa Constituency, Abdullahi Shaba Gbara explained that the Committee members had earlier visited the printing press to assess it as part of their oversight functions and saw the need for the Governor to inspect it with the view to improving on what is on ground.

The Deputy Governor, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso, Secretary to the State government Ahmed Matene, Chief of Staff to the Governor Ibrahim Balarabe and other State executive council members as well as the members of the House Committee on Rules and Business were among those that accompanied the Governor on the inspection visit.

APC SENSITIZE MEMBERS, STAKEHOLDERS ON PARTY REGISTRATION/REVALIDATION EXERCISE IN NIGER STATE

All Progressives Congress APC has sensitised Niger State party members and critical stakeholders on the new Registration and Revalidation process.

The sensitization exercise, which was interactive, was presided over by the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello at the Government House, Minna.

The Chairman of the State Registration and Revalidation Committee, Senator Domingo Obende explained that the exercise is for the Party to start on a good and clean footings by ensuring that the right thing is done to have a comprehensive party register.

He said for a start, 100 registration forms will be given to each unit and the registration will be done at the registration areas recognized by Independent National Electoral Commission INEC adding that the official flagg-off for the exercise in the State will be on Saturday at the registration area of the Governor under the Supervision of the North Central Supervisory Committee.

In his remarks, the State Caretaker Chairman of the Party, Aliyu Saidu Galkogo who was represented by the State Caretaker Secretary Suleiman Abdullahi said the State Caretaker leadership of the Party has made adequate arrangements to facilitate a free and fair exercise across all the units in the State.

He called on all members and would be members to follow the Party's guidelines for the exercise and shun any acts that would negate the unity of the Party.

In his remarks, Governor Sani Bello represented by his Deputy Ahmed Muhammed Ketso stressed the need for synergy among Party members so as to strengthen the Party.

While some of the stakeholders who made contributions at the session expressed their fears over the number of forms provided for each unit and insecurity in some registration areas, some conveyed their concern over the little or no attention given to the State despite its contribution to the growth and development of the Country.

The Chairman, State Registration and Revalidation Committee said he will make a case for at least 200 forms per unit for a start and that the Committee, in collaboration with the State government will make arrangements to ensure that no life is lost in the process of the exercise.

The training of the Local Government supervisors, ward supervisors then Unit supervisors will take place before the commencement of the registration exercise in the State.

SAYS SECURING LIVES AND ENSURING INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT REMAINS PARAMOUNT

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello felicitates with Nigerlites on the 45th year anniversary of the State's creation from the defunct North Western State during the regime of General Murtala Ramat Muhammad.

In a statement, Governor Sani Bello appreciated God for the appreciable growth and development recorded in the last forty five years of the State's existence.

Governor Sani Bello who noted that the level of development in the State is not commensurate with its years of existence, explained that a lot is being done to add value to the contributions of successive administrations towards building a virile State.

On the security challenges, Governor Sani Bello said his administration has done a lot but will not relent until the issue of insecurity is addressed stressing that his administration is more than ever, determined to halt the insecurity challenges in the areas.

" The people in the affected parts of the State have suffered enormously due to the continued attacks by the bandits ,but I am not going to be deterred by that, government will step up its plans to end the insecurity", he added

The Governor acknowledged the efforts of the traditional rulers and urged them to improve on the existing harmonious, peaceful coexistence in their domains as well as fish out enemies of the State who are serving as informants to the men of the underworld and advised them not to compromise in the discharge of their duties.

He called for collective efforts noting that the task of governance is a collective responsibility which must not be left to government alone while assuring that Government will continue to formulate policies and programmes that will impact positively on the lives of the citizens.
