Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has said that the people of the state are eager to see the commencement of activities at the Baro Seaport.

The Governor stated this when he alongside officials and delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state,  received his Ekiti State counterpart, Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and presidential aspirant of the party, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi at the Government House Minna. 

Governor Sani Bello who decried over lack of maintenance which has caused so much setbacks for the nation, stressed that the Baro seaport if fully operational, would not only benefit Niger State but the Northern Nigeria and the entire Nation by extension.

"We are very eager to see activities taking place at the Baro Seaport not just for Niger State but Northern Nigeria", he said.

He described Governor Kayode Fayemi as a friend and brother pointing out that he has related very well with him and that he was among the three of his colleagues who supported him during the darkest days of the party at the National level. 

The Governor who said the presidential aspirant had touched areas that are really affecting the state, enjoined delegates to consult with members of their communities and take a stand.

He emphasized that he has taken a decision long ago not to interfere in any Congress or election and desires to maintain his position.

"I have never interfered in any Congress or local government elections. I allow people to think for themselves and decide on the way forward and that I will maintain", he stressed. 

Addressing the delegates, Dr. Fayemi explained that he had come to share his vision with the delegates and to allow them place it side by side with other visions so as to make an informed decision on the basis of capacity, competence, education, integrity, compassion for the people and courage to do the right thing.

Dr. Fayemi observed that the nation requires national cohesion as a basis for national security as many have lost faith in the country due to insecurity.

He said Niger State has been at the receiving end largely due to its size and that he is aware of the efforts of the Governor to stem the tide of insecurity in the state.

The Chairman NGF said if given the mandate, he will recruit more security personnel, pay more attention to intelligence and technology to fight insecurity in the country.

He said delibrate efforts were needed to provide opportunities for the people so as to address poverty and inequality in the country which he said are responsible for some of the challenges facing the nation.

The Presidential aspirant who promised to run an all inclusive government if he becomes the president, also assured that Niger State will have no better ally than him.

Dr. Fayemi further highlighted some of his plans for Nigeria to be; decentralization of power, reward system for party members, improved Agricultural activities by providing security to farmers among others.

He maintained he believes in Nigeria as a project saying "we can remake the nation without unmaking it."

Speaking earlier, the leader of the campaign team, Sen. Lawal Shuaibu commended the Governor for his leadership style and humility.

Senator Lawal then appealed to delegates in the state to ensure that they vote Dr. Fayemi as Nigeria needs a young and intelligent man with a revolutionary idea to actively tackle all the challenges bedevilling the nation.

He urged the delegates to think deeply about the future of the country and go for the person that has the wherewithal to move the nation to greatness.

The leader of the team reminded the delegates that in a democratic setting, power lies at the bottom, hence they should use it wisely.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has commended the former Minister of Transportation and presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress Mr. Rotimi Ameachi for his efforts at ensuring that the Baro sea port and construction of rail line from Minna to Baro are awarded.

Governor Sani Bello gave the commendation when the Presidential aspirant met with party delegates to seek their votes to become the candidate of the party for the 2023 presidential election.

The Governor who described the award of the projects as great, explained that he has laid to rest some of the misgivings the Baro port and  railway contracts had generated.

Mr Ameachi said the contracts for the Minna to Baro sea port and railway have been awarded and the Emir of Minna has confirmed the presence of the contractors in the state. 

He also said that of Minna to Abuja has been awarded and work will commence by November as the loan for the project has been approved. 

While wooing the delegates, the former Governor of Rivers state said he is the most experienced presidential aspirant considering the various positions he held starting from speaker of State Assembly, Governor for two term, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Campaign Director General of President Muhammadu Buhari twice among others. 

He said he knows the problems of Nigeria and has the capacity to fix them haven governed a state that was having security challenges like Niger State successfully. 

The Presidential aspirant said he is a Nigerian seeking for leadership of Nigeria and not a sectional leader.

He recalled how as a Governor, he collaborated with security operatives and put up administrative strategies to confront the security challenges in Rivers state within six months.

He highlighted poverty and lack of a vibrant economy as the bane of the Nigerian society.

According to him "If you don't provide food for the poor man the poor man will provide food for himself".

"I am a Nigerian, I am not a sectional leader, I don't want to be known as a Yourba candidate or Hausa candidate or Igbo candidate. I want to be know as a Nigerian.

"I have governed a state that is as bad as Niger in terms of security where there were activities of kidnapping and other security challenges where we brought down insecurity in 6 months. 

"The problem of Nigeria is that we move from agrarian economy to a static economy, we do not go into manufacturing and production because Nigeria saw oil".

The Presidential aspirant had visited the Emir of Minna Alh. Dr. Umar Farouq Bahago at his Palace to seek royal blessing and to also intimate him of the reason for his coming to Minna.

The Emir in his remarks said the nation indeed needs a selfless leader who is interested in the good of all.

He said that the immense experience of Amaechi qualifies him to lead the nation.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has assured that the All Progressives Congress APC delegates in the state will give listening ears to all the Presidential aspirant of the party seeking for their vote.

Governor Sani Bello gave the assurance when he accompanied the Vice President and APC presidential aspirant Prof Yemi Osinbajo to visit the Emir of Minna, HRH, Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Faruq Bahago for royal blessing.

The Governor who noted that listening to the aspirants would help the delegates in taking decision on who to vote for.

He commended the VP for his contributions to nation-building promising that a level playing ground will be given to aspirants. 

Governor Sani Bello then presented the Presidential aspirant to the Emir.

Prof Osinbajo told the Emir that he was in Minna to interact with the delegates as they were important to actualizing his presidential ambition.

He said that he found it very important that he should visit the Emir to receive Royal Blessings.

According to him, he want to persuade the delegates to vote for him considering his over seven years of exposure and experiences in the present administration thereby giving him an advantage to serve the country.

He assured that he will make good use of  his experiences and deploy technology to resolve the insecurity bedeviling the nation as well as improve the economy.

The Presidential aspirant thank the Emir for receiving him. 

The Emir of Minna, HRH, Alhaji Bahago, acknowledged the loyalty of the number two citizen in Nigeria, to Mr President and his commitment as well as patriotism tothe growth and development of the country. 

He caution politicians to remember that power comes from God, hence they should commit everything to Him, urging them to join hands together to ensure a peaceful and successful elections in 2023.

Governor or Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has said that his administration will continue to support private sectors willing to compliment government efforts in capacity building.

The Governor stated this when the Promoter of New Gate University, Hassan Nuhu presented the provisional licence of the institution to him at the Government House, Minna. 

Governor Sani Bello who noted that the university will no doubt fill the gaps and strengthen educational sector in the state, said that it will be of great benefit to youths in the state.

"I have no doubt in my mind that this effort will compliment whatever effort government is doing with regards to building capacity in different sectors and we will see to it that our young boys and girls benefit from this gesture", he said.

He then appealed to the management of the institution to be considerate in the area of tuition fee particularly to indigenes so as to enable them benefit from the institution.

In his remarks, the Promoter of New Gate University, Hassan Nuhu said the institution was established to bring development to the state and to support the growth of youths across the country.

He also stated that the existence of the institution would avail youths who are having difficulties in gaining admission into tertiary institutions opportunity to secure admission and to create job opportunities as well.

The Promoter of New Gate University however assured that the management will do its best to make the tuition fee affordable for all.

New Gate University is among the 12 Private Universities issued with licence to operate in Nigeria by the Federal Government.

Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central Governors Forum NCGF, Abubakar Sani Bello has appealed for calm in the wake of disturbances and tension in some parts of the North, following the murder of Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari Collegeof Education Sokoto on  the allegation of blasphemy.

In a statement, the Governor said peaceful coexistence in a plural society like ours, is not only necessary, but the first condition for growth and development. 

He said, "peace is in the best interest of everyone. Without peace we cannot sleep; without peace, we cannot work. Peace is the bedrock of everything. Without it, our dreams die."

The Governor admonished all to be accommodating and tolerant of our religious and cultural diversities so as to make our society a destination of choice for many people in and around the world.

He appealed to traditional, community, religious and opinion leaders to refrain from making inflammatory statements and encourage their constituencies to continue to be law-abiding.

Governor Sani Bello observed that vile and unfounded rumours and exaggerations have often provided fertile sources of conflict and urged all to dispel them. 

He enjoined the public also to be proactive and report issues likely to lead to breach of the peace to authorities for immediate intervention.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the Governor has directed the police and other security agencies in the state to deal decisively with any individual or groups, who attempt to exploit the current situation to foment trouble.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu said Nigeria needs an intellectual president to rebuild the nation to its desired dream.

Tinubu stated this when he met with Niger State APC delegates at the Government House Minna, to seek their support to pick the ticket of the party at the Primaries towards the upcoming 2023 General elections. 

He said the country is looking for a thinker who will provide the desired leadership for the prosperity of the country.

The former Lagos State Governor and Senator, assures that when voted for, he has a team with the brain to turn around the fortunes of the country.

According to him, he will provide the needed strategy to overcome the security challenges and eliminate the terrorists as well as create a secured Nigeria.

"A president is not by strength, block or cement carrying but a thinker who will improve security, education, economy and leave our children and grandchildren enough prosperity. We have what it takes to end banditry and killings", he said.

He added that he wants a Nigeria where quality education for children is guaranteed, jobs created and a vibrant economy.

The APC National Leader maintains that his track records which includes creation of the Lagos State masterplan, rebranding Lagos economy and building of human capacity have attests that he is the best to lead the Nation.

Asiwaju Tinubu further disclosed that he is not distracted with all that is being said about his health knowing that he is fit and has the intellectual capacity.

The former Lagos State Governor thanked  Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger State APC chairman, Alh Haliru Zakari Jakantoro for mobilizing the delegates to receive him.

Governor Sani Bello in his remarks, commended Senator Tinubu for his giant strides in transforming Lagos State.

He assured that their will be no imposition on the delegates as they will be allowed to vote for whoever they so wish.

Earlier, former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima commended Niger State for adhering to power sharing formular in the State.

Shettima described Governor Sani Bello as a man of peace, Justice, fairness and equity, pointing out that the Governor exemplified such attributes before and during the National Convention of the Party. 

Shettima said Members of APC and Nigerians owe Tinubu gratitude considering his immense contributions in the formation, growth and development of the party in particular and the Nation by extention, noting that Tinubu understands modern economy.

JOINT SECURITY FORCES NEUTRALIZED BANDITS IN RAFI LGA OF NIGER STATE


In an attempt by terrorists/armed bandits to disrupt peaceful Eid-el-fitr celebration in Niger State, joint security forces engaged and neutralized the hoodlums in Rafi LGA of the State.

On 02/05/2022 at about 1700hrs, armed bandits on motorcycles attempted to attack Kawo, Uregi villages in Rafi LGA to disrupt Sallah celebration in the State.

On the receipt of this information, joint security tactical teams responded swiftly and mobilised to the area where the hoodlums were engaged around Uregi, Kiribo villages and as a result, about ten among bandits were neutralized, 14 kidnapped citizens rescued and seven motorcycles recovered with arms from them.

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Niger State Alh. (Dr.) Abubakar Sani Bello, commended the gallantry efforts of the security personnel, including the local vigilante members who are supposed to be with their families and loved ones to celebrate Sallah, but rather chose to remain vigilante in the forest to provide security for Nigerlites.

The Governor appreciates this uncommon sacrifice and encouraged the security agencies not to relent in their efforts towards mitigating against terrorism/banditry and other criminality in the State

He equally thanked Nigerlites for their community resilience against banditry and urge them to continue to cooperate with the Government and security agencies in the State in order to encourage them in this service to humanity for a more secured Niger State.

He reassured them of his commitment and determination to ensure peace is restored in all the troubled communities.

As Muslim ummah celebrate Eid-el-Fitr across the globe, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has encouraged the people to embrace peace.

Governor Sani Bello stated this shortly after observing the two rakka'at prayer at the Lapai Eid Praying Ground in Lapai local government council area of the state.

He said that the people should be mindful of happenings in their domains, especially with present security challenges.

"My Sallah message to the people is that of peace and for the people to be very concious of what is happening", he said.

He also urged everyone to be mindful and watchful of their neighbours.

The Governor hoped that the benefit and blessings accompanied by this year's Ramadan will bring an end to the security challenges in some parts of the country.

His Royal Highness, the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Tafida Umar Bago III, top government functionaries including cabinet members were among the congregants on the Eid Praying ground.

The Deputy Chief Imam of Lapai, Alhaji Hassan Baba who earlier delivered the sermon with a call on the people to love each other, led the two rakka'at prayer. 

A brief reception was held for the Governor and his entourage at the Emir place after the Eid prayer.

Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central Governors Forum NCGF, Abubakar Sani Bello has congratulated Muslim Faithful all over the world on the successful completion of this year's (2022) Ramadan fast and the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Governor in a statement said the Eid -el-Fitr celebration is a period of love, tolerance and good will to all.

While urging the muslim ummah to continue in their prayers for peace and development of the state and the nation in general, Governor Sani Bello also implored them to sustain the lessons of Ramadan beyond the period for a better society

"I congratulate Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the successful completion of the annual spiritual exercise of fasting, supplications and helping the needy in accordance with the teachings of the Qur’an and the Hadith ",  he said.

The Governor used the opportunity to re-assure all citizens of his commitment to making sure that insecurity becomes a thing of the past in the state.

He observed that significant successes have been recorded in the fight against terrorism in the state and pledged that  the state will continue to relentlessly work closely with all security agencies, for an enduring peace in the state.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state and Chairman, North Central Governors Forum has been presented with an Expression of Interest and nomination form for the Niger North Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress APC, purchased by the Niger state Commissioners Forum. 

Receiving the form at the Government House in Minna, the state capital, Governor Sani Bello, who said he had earlier made up his mind not to vie for any office after his tenure elapsed, disclosed that the genuine call by different groups not just within the Zone but the State, made him to develop interest adding that his refusal to do so would amount to being unfair. 

"I am highly overwhelmed and grateful for this gesture. Long time ago I said i wasn't going to contest for any office again and I wasn't mincing words. 

"I was reluctant but I'm becoming interested now haven seen that genuinely it is what most of the people want. People believe that haven gone through this at this point to abandon, fold my arms and to just walk away, I won't be fair", he said. 

He expressed optimism that the state will be better, as his government is making every effort to battle insecurity. 

The Governor maintained that his government has done its best in the area of insecurity, haven put in so much resources. 

He said the Heads of security outfits in the state can testify to the fact that his administration has been supportive and proactive on security issues; but decried that the size of the state in terms insecurity, is a disadvantage.

The Governor also highlighted inadequate troops on ground as a hindrance to the fight against terrorism but assured that his administration would continue to do its best to address the situation. 

The Commissiner for Works, who is also the Chairman of Commissioners Forum, Alh. Mamman Musa, while handing over the form to the Secretary, Lolo 2023 Project for Senate, Zone C for onward presentation to the Governor, said the leadership style of the Governor and their desire for him to further add value to the state, prompted the forum to purchase the senatorial nomination form for him. 

Also speaking, the Director General of the campaign organization, Abdullahi Idris Garba, represented by the secretary, Aminu Yusuf, said they believe in the capacity of the Governor to bring about more development projects in the zone. 

He appreciated the efforts of the Governor in ensuring a hitch free National Convention of the Party held a few weeks ago.

NORTH CENTRAL GOVERNORS FORUM CONDOLES WITH OYO STATE GOVERNMENT AND COUNCIL OF OBAS AND CHIEFS OVER THE DEATH OF A TOP YORUBA MONARCH, OBA LAMIDI ADEYEMI III

Governor of Niger State and Chairman North Central Governors Forum (NCGF), Abubakar Sani Bello has commiserated with the Government of Oyo State and the entire Yoruba race over the death of their foremost traditional ruler, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.

The NCGF Chairman in a condolence message described the death of the prominent monarch of the Yoruba race as sorrowful considering his immense contributions to not only the Yoruba land, but the nation in general.

He observed that the late monarch who rulled for 52 years which is the longest reign ever in Yoruba land, diligently led the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs by providing purposeful leadership geared towards advancing the people. 

The NCGF Chairman said the Monarch's demise is a disturbing one knowing that the people lost two traditional rulers; the Olubadan Saliu Adetunji and the Soun of Ogbomosho, Jimoh Oyewumi about five months ago.

Governor Sani Bello said "a vacuum has certainly been created in the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs which will take God to fill it up. 

The NCGF Chairman however said death is an end to all mortals and a transition to the life hereafter, urging the government of Oyo and the entire people of Yoruba land to see the death of the monarch as an act of God and be comforted by the fact that he lived an accomplished and examplary life. 

He also prayed for the repose of the soul of the traditional ruler and for God to grant the immediate and extended family members, Oyo State Government and the entire people of Yoruba race the fortitude to bear the loss as well as provide them with someone that will fill the vacuum that has been created by the demise of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. 

"I see this as sorrowful and a trying moment for the people of Oyo State in particular and Yoruba race at large. They lost two traditional rulers not really upto five months and now a top monarch.

"However, we cannot question God but to rather accept it as a necessary end to all the living. The only thing we can do now is to continue to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to comfort and preserve all that he left behind. 

"I sincerely sympathize with my colleague, Seyi Makinde and the entire people of the state and my prayers are with them.

He said Dangote has a standing multi billion naira partnership with the Niger state government in Agric business which would help create jobs and boost the economy of the state. 

Governor Sani Bello observed that the celebrant has remained an invaluable Nigerian who is steadfast in promoting international business which has made you the richest in the entire African continent, and 73rd in the world. 

He saluted the zeal, tenacity and desire of Dangote to contribute his quota in the rapid growth and development of not only the Nigerian and African economy but global economy.

You have continued to contribute to every definable aspect of global economy, you are indeed a major contributor of food security, a market leader in cement and the highest employer of labour in Africa who is presently building Nigeria’s first private oil refinery and the largest in Africa.

GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO MOURNS THE DEATH OF MANY AS BOAT CAPSIZES IN NIGER

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has expressed grief as many people including women and children drowned in Guni-Zumba River while fleeing terrorists attacks in Guni and Kurgbaku communities in Munya local government area of the state. 

Governor Sani Bello in a condolence message, described the incident as painful and disturbing, condoled with the family members of the deceased and the entire people of Munya local government area. 

He decried over the unprovoked attacks on innocent citizens in the these communities.

The Governor emphatically stated that no matter how hard the criminals sustain their atrocious activities, Government will remain steadfast and not be dampened in its efforts to end criminality in the state.

While appreciating the efforts and sacrifices of the joint security operatives, Governor Sani Bello enjoined them to continue in sealing up their activities, and be more proactive in their operations. 

He then prayed God to forgive all those who lost their lives and grant their loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Governor also directed State Emergency Agency to immediately commence a search and rescue operations as well as provide succour to the rest people in the affected communities 

Recall that some people including women and children were said to have drowned in Guni-Zumba River while trying to flee attacks on Guni and Kurgbaku communities in Munya LGA.

The attacks which were said to be simultaneous, forced the people to flee to safety in an overloaded boat which later capsized killing all on board as no one was said to be rescued.

HOW GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO INSPIRED APC TO A SUPERLATIVE CONVENTION  

For every event, there is always a trigger. The history of the just concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, cannot be written without the pivotal role of the governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello. 

Recall that preparation for the APC National Convention was in a state of push and pull or lull, untill, Governor Sani Bello, who also doubled as the Chairman, North Central Governors Forum, took over as the Acting Chairman 2022 APC National Convention, on 3rd March, 2022, following the absence of Governor Mai Mala Buni on medical grounds.

His subsequent actions became the catalyst that propelled the APC Convention. It should be place on record that, immediately he took over, he reinforced the inevitability of holding the Convention on 26th March, 2022. His declaration came at a time of huge uncertainties for the party, and became the needed vitality for members, who committed and redoubled their efforts towards a successful Convention.

Without an iota of a doubt, he demonstrated courage, spirit of sacrifice, loyalty, selflessness, love and togetherness in his commitment towards delivering a successful and rancour free APC National Convention.   

Upon stepping in, he immediately swung into actions geared towards achieving the set date for the National Convention. Some of the actions he took were the inauguration of State Chairmen of the Party, adoption of zoning formula from the Zoning Committee, adoption of some relevant documents and inauguration of sub-committees for the National Convention
among others.  

Governor Sani Bello received accolades from the CECPC Chairman Mala Buni upon his return from medical trip as he was satisfied with the level of preparations towards the Convention, thereby validating all that was done under the leadership of Governor Sani Bello.  
The Governor was again given the responsibility of ensuring smooth preparations for the event, a task he diligently carried out successfully as he was at the Eagle Square, venue of the event at different dates to see  to the progress of preparations.  

He had several interactions with various sub-committees to ensure things went on smoothly.   

As if that was not enough, on the day of the National Convention, Governor Sani Bello was at the venue early enough to see that things are carried out without hitches.  

He went as far as visiting delegates from various states, interacting with them to give them a sense of belonging.  

The efforts can be said to be worthwhile as the desired result of a successful and rancour free National Convention has been achieved. Cumulatively, this has heralded a new National Working Committee, NWC, of the APC.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has promised to accord all the necessary support for the success of At Risk Children Project ARC-P in the state.

Governor Sani Bello gave the assurance when he received a delegation in charge of the project led by the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment, Hajiya Maryam Uwais in Abuja.

Governor Sani Bello described initiative as complementary the to state government's commitment towards the wellbeing of vulnerable children and youth.

He commended the Federal Government for coming up with such a scheme adding that it would address the plight of the less privileged children and young adults in the society. 

Earlier, Hajiya Maryam Uwais explained that the Scheme which is under the Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government, is designed to empower children and young people without skills and education.

Hajiya Uwais said that one of the strategies to be used to achieve the goal of the programme is to train educated and unemployed youth in various areas such as entrepreneurship, Agriculture, financial skills, literacy and numeracy, security awareness and sports among others.

According to her, "after the training, we will now assigned those vulnerable children to the trained youth for mentoring after securing the consent of their parents, guardians and mallams and they will give us report every month".

She said Niger State invited us to come and see how we can support them to add value to what they are already doing pointing out that the team had already inspected facilities provided by the state government in Minna.

Hajiya Uwais said though the programme has commenced, Niger State Government would sign a Memorandum of Understanding that would define the roles and responsibilities of Federal and State Governments in the scheme.

So far, ARC-P has kick started in Gombe, Sokoto, Borno, Kaduna and Ekiti with more States indicating interests.

The Caretaker Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC of the All Progressives Congress APC has re-assured members of the party that its National Convention will hold as scheduled.  

The reassurance came when Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and other Members of the CECP as well as some Convention Planning Sub-Committee members visited the Chairman of the Committee and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni at Yobe house, Abuja, on his return from a medical trip. 

Speaking to journalists, Governor Sani Bello who Chaired the CECPC in Acting capacity when the Chairman was absent, explained that they discussed the progress made so far as regards the March 26th National Convention.  

"Well, for the past one week I have been acting as the National Chairman and we made a lot of progress towards the convention. 

"Like you know, we swore -in state party chairmen, we adopted the zoning system, we adopted some documents and decisions of CECPC. So I can tell you for free that we are good to go for the convention", he  asserted.

On his part, the Chairman, CECPC of APC, Governor Buni aligned with Sani Bello and other memebers of the committee on their position as regards to the March 26 National Convention of the party. 

While appreciating them for the visit, the Chairman said it has provided them opportunity to discuss the way forward especially as the day for the convention draws closer. 

"We are now at the finishing line, of course you know the convention is at hand. So we are putting heads together to ensure that we achieve this feat of accomplishment", he said.

All the members of the CECPC were present except the Secretary.

The All Progressives Congress APC Caretaker Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC has inaugurated Convention Planning Sub-Committees ahead of the March 26th National Convention. 

The Governor of Niger State Abubakar and Acting Chairman CECPC of the Party, inaugurated the Chairmen and Secretaries of the sub-Committees at the National Secretariat of the Party in Abuja.

Sani Bello said the selection process was made based on the track records, experience and loyalty of the Committee members to the Party.

He urged them to exhibit same qualities towards the success of the National Convention.

The Acting Chairman APC CECPC pointed out that the names submitted for consideration in the Committees were reduced and urged those whose names were screened out to be patient and work with those selected for the task ahead.

" I know a lot of our Party faithful want to serve in one way or the other in various committees as their support or contribution, however, we must be mindful that everyone cannot be a member of the sub-committees", he said.

He explained that names of other members of the Sub committees would be made public as soon as they were released to the Secretariat.

The ActingChairman CECPC of APC commended members of the CECPC for a job well done despite the limited time given to them.

According to him, "those of you who have been monitoring events at the National Secretariat, we have started frantic efforts to ensure that we get a hitch free Convention and we are equally making efforts to see that we reposition the Party towards successful elections in future". 

Some of the sub-committees inaugurated are Screening sub-ommittee with Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as Chairman and Barrister Emmanuel Chukwuemeka as Secretary. 

The Media Sub-committee has the Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule as Chairman, Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed as Co-chairman while Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity will serve as the Secretary. 

Other Committees are Central Planning, Election Appeal, Security, Medical and Finance sub-committees. 

Responding on behalf of other members of the Committees, the Co-Chairman, Convention Conference sub-committee and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi pledged to carry out their tasks diligently for the success of the Convention and thanked the CECPC for finding them worthy of the assignments.

The event was attended by some top APC members including Governors of Zamfara, Jigawa and Ekiti states as well as former Senate President Chimaroke Nnamani.

OVER 200 TERRORISTS KILLED IN NIGER STATE WITHIN THREE DAYS

Over 200 terrorists belonging to four different camps have been killed across Niger state in the past three days in an intensified joint security operations in the state.

Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Internal Security, Mr Emmanuel Umar disclosed this to journalists during briefing at the Government House, Minna  under the  directives of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello. 

Mr Umar said  many commanders of the terrorists were among those destroyed pointing out that the terrorists killed belonged to the camps of Ali Kawajo, Yello Janbros, Kachalla Halilu and Bello Turji.

The commissioner stressed that , the success recorded was due to the new approach evolved in the joint security operations and the collective efforts of traditional leaders, community leaders as well as community members . 

He said over 60 motorcycles, unspecified number of cows and arms were recovered, adding that the arms have been handed over to the security agencies. 

The Commissioner announced that the joint security agencies however recorded some casualties; two deaths and many injured, whom he said are receiving treatment at a government facility. 

He on behalf of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello sympathized with the families of the security operatives that were killed and their agencies saying that their sacrifices is appreciated and will not go unrewarded. 

While commending the security agencies, community leaders and members of the affected  communities for their collective efforts towards annihilating the terrorists,  cautioned the general public to be vigilant as some of the terrorists who escaped with bullet wounds are taking shelter in some communities. 

He passionately appealed to the public to report any strange persons within their environment while re-iterating government's determination to win the war.

"We are appealing to the general public that this fight is not for government alone, it is for us all, we will not rest, until we chase them out of our land,  and will continue trailing those tthat have escaped as well ensure that we do  everything possible for them to pay, for the destruction that they  have causing our people", he said.

Governor Sani Bello who presided over the Swearing-in of the Grand Khadi at the Government House Minna, expressed confidence in the capability of Musa Kigera to carryout his duties diligently. 

"I have no doubt in my mind that we have a capable Grand Khadi,

I know that you have been through turbulent storms in the performance of your duties and execution of justice in the state. Allah has made it possible for you today to become the Grand Khadi of the state, we will continue to pray for Allah's guidance and protection for you", he said.

The Governor pledged his full support to ensure the Grand Khadi succeed in his duties. 

In his remarks, the Grand Khadi assured of his readiness to build on what his predecessors have done.

He appreciated the support of the Governor, the acting Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General Nasara Dan-Mallam as well as Nigeria Bar Association(NBA) for their support, pointing out that he will discharge his duties justly, fairly and with equity.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT SIGNS MOU ON VACCINATION 

...TO HARMONIZE VACCINATION PROGRAMMES FOR EFFICIENCY  

Niger State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with Global Alliance on Vaccine Initiative GAVI, Federal Government and the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF with the aim of strengthening the Routine Immunization System. 

The MoU which has thematic focus on Zero Dose Burden of children under the age of five especially Pentavalent first dose (combination of five different vaccines) given at six weeks of age, was signed at Aso Villa Abuja, the Nation's Capital. 

Addressing the high delegation from Gavi and other foreign missions , organizations as well as Governors of benefiting states ,Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State explained that GAVI would help the state in streamlining its vaccination programmes to avoid duplication with other partners, as the State is currently implementing an MoU with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) with emphasis on revitalizing Primary Health Care (PHC) and strengthening community-based services among others.  

"Harmonization of the GAVI and BMGF MOUs is essential to avoid duplication and ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources to achieve desired results. 

"We will do that by ensuring that the Ministry and Agency come up with carefully drafted work and implementation plans in line with the priority areas of the MOUs", he said. 

The Governor said government will ensure that micro plans are clearly defined and integrated towards a synergistic implementation of all PHC programmes while the State various Technical Working Groups (TWGs) led by the Ministry of Health will monitor and evaluate the processes, inputs and outputs of the implementations. 

The Governor added that "as part of consolidating the gains and achievements of PHC via State processes and the MOU, we seek new support to strengthen the vaccine and health commodities supply chain by way of bringing in new innovations or technologies". 

He assured of the government's readiness to meet up with its responsibilities as outlined in both MOUs. 

Speakers and other participants at the event commended and appreciated Gavi for the support given to Nigerian health systems and promised to deepen the relationship, partnership and commitment for mutual benefit as well as accountability so as to achieve the desired result.

The Foreign mission also commended Nigeria government and the states that signed the MoU for their efforts at strengthening the health systems both in the country in their various states even in the face of insecurity in some states.

Nigeria was billed to exit the GAVI MoU in 2021 but has been extended to 2028.

"No body has the right to take someone's life for whatever reason. As long as their is no justice there will be no peace", he said.

The Governor also directed the Secretary to the State Government  Ahmed Ibrahim Matene and the Commissioner for Justice and  Attorney General Nasara Dan-Malllam to ensure quick submission of the report for justice to be done.

The white paper committee is to be chaired by Dr Jonathan Wasa Permanent Secretary Youth, while Mohammed Wachiko, Permanent Secretary Investment and Ibrahim Bala Permanent Secretary Human Resources are to serve as members, Shafi'u Zakari Director, office of the Secretary to State Government is to be the secretary of the Committee. 

Submitting the Judicial Commission of Inquiry's report by its Chairman Justice Danladi Ahmed, said the Commission in the course of their assignment, received ten memoranda and that 50 witnesses testified before it while 137 exhibit were admitted as evidence.

Justice Ahmed highlighted some of the Commission's recommendations to include  a Peace and Reconciliation Committee in Mashegu Local Government Area to engage with the residents of the affected communities with a view to to finding a lasting peace.

Others are a total overhauling and proper organisation of the Vigilante Corps at the local level, compensation for damages and losses be paid to victims of the attack, those suspected and identified in the attacks be referred to the Commissioner of Police for further investigation and prosecution among others. 

Justice Ahmed thanked the Governor and other relevant agencies for the tremendous support given to them to ensure the success of their assignment. 

Recall that Governor Sani Bello had on the 3rd of November, 2021 set up a Judicial Panel following conflicting reports on banditry attacks in Mazakuka, Adogon Mallam, Kulho among other communities in Mashegu local government area where several lives and property were lost as well as many abducted.

The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello is saddened by the ugly news emanating from Galadima Kogo, barely three weeks after similar attacks, in which many lives and properties were lost as well as many residents displaced.  

In a statement Governor Sani Bello said "as Government, we are determined not to hands up to these dare-devil terrorists. Niger State is actively supporting the federal government led efforts to overcome the menace of these heartless terrorists". 

"These people have come under several attacks for no any fault of theirs, their lifestyle have been forced to change. I feel and share in their pains. I will not rest until their lifestyle return to normal", he assured.  

While commiserating with the entire people of Shiroro local government area particularly the affected communities, the Governor re-iterated his  commitment to take every necessary steps to assuage the sufferings of the affected people by providing humanitarian interventions. 

Governor Sani Bello who also condoled with the security agencies for the loss of some of their personnel, sympathized with their family members, stressing that their sacrifices will not go in vain even as he pledged his unalloyed as well as continued support to them within the available resources so as to win the war against the terrorists. 

Governor Sani Bello prayed God to grant quick recovery to those injured and repose of the souls of those killed.  

It was reported that terrorists in their numbers, early hours of Monday, stormed Galadiman Kogo in Shiroro local government area killing people and setting buildings ablaze. 

An operational van belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps was said to have ran into an explosive device planted by the terrorists, leading to the death of some of it personnel while others were critically injured and are receiving treatment. 

Meanwhile the Governor has directed all security agencies to mobilize their personnel and step up their activities to tame the nefarious activities of the terrorists.

NIGER STATE GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO MOURNS DEATH OF FORMER SSG, IBRAHIM ISAH LADAN

Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central States Governors'Forum (NCSGF), Abubakar Sani Bello has expressed sadness over the sudden death of a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Ladan. 

The Governor, in a condolence message said the demise of the former SSG is a huge loss to the state government in general and the Borgu Kingdom in particular.

Governor Sani Bello eulogized the deceased describing him as an outstanding administrator and politician who has greatly contributed to the growth and development of the state.

He said late Ibrahim Isah Ladan served the state with great passion stressing that his loyalty to the administration was unwaivering and remarkable.

The Governor commiserated with Emir and people of Borgu Emirate as well as the family of the deceased. He prayed Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi.

The late SSG, Ibrahim Isah Ladan from Borgu Local Government Area, was appointed by the administration of Governor Sani Bello in 2016.

He was a former Commissioner representing Niger State in the Federal Character Commission and was one-time chairman Borgu local government Area.

The late SSG, 62, was a seasoned politician and also a former Senatorial aspirant for Niger North Senatorial district under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Late Isah Ladan was a turbanned councillor of Borgu Kingdom, who served on the Governor-elect Transition Committee set up by Governor Sani Bello to prepare ground for his administration’s inauguration in 2015.

GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO CONDOLES SULTAN, GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF SOKOTO STATE OVER THE DEATH OF SULTANATE KINGMAKER, DANBABA

Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central States Governors' Forum (NCSGF), Abubakar Sani Bello has commiserated with the Sultan, Sokoto Caliphate as well as the government and people of Sokoto State over the death of Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba who is the Head of the Caliphate's Kingmakers.

The Governor, in a condolence message expressed grief over the demise of Magajin Gari adding that his death has, no doubt, left a void that will be difficult to fill in the Sultanate.

Governor Sani Bello described the late Magajin Gari as a  gentleman and reverred traditional ruler, who contributed immensely to the development of the Sokoto Caliphate, and the nation.  

"The Sokoto Caliphate has indeed lost a father, a respected leader and philanthropist who lived a life of service to the Caliphate, Nigeria and humanity in general. He would be greatly missed", the Governor said.

He  prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdausi. “My prayers are also with the family he left behind, the Sultanate, the government and people of Sokoto State."

The Head of Sokoto kingmakers, the Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, was until his death, the board chairman of the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA).

The deceased was the grandson of the late Premier of Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

Danbaba died at the age of 51, barely 22 months after he lost his mother, A’ishatu, the eldest daughter of the late Premier of Northern Region.

Chief Press Secretary to Niger state Governor Mrs Mary Noel Berje stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on steps taken by the state govẹrnment to bring to the bearest minimal security challenges bedevilling some parts of Niger state.

Mrs Mary Noel Berje however lamented that despite the numerous efforts by Niger state govẹrnment at converting insecurity problem of constitutional lacuna which limit the powers of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to act with despatch as regards to usage of security personnels remain a sẹrious challenge.

According to the Chief Press Secretary Niger State Govẹrnment led administration of Alh Abubakar Sani Bello had supported all security apparatus with logistics and other welfare packages to enhance effective operation against terrorists in addition to signing the Vigilante Corps law towards unifying all voluntary local security groups operating in Niger state.

Mrs Mary Noel Berje said in addition to that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has on several occasion reached out to President Muhammadu Buhari and Service Chiefs in a deliberate efforts to bring back normalcy to Niger State in addition to supporting the Internally Displaced Persons with relief materials and personally visiting them to ammeliorate their hardship.

She solicited for the support of Journalists and other critical stakeholders in addressing the problem of armed banditry kidnapping cattle rustling and all forms of criminality in parts of Niger state and Nigeria.

Mrs Mary Noel Berje expressed disgust that the evil activities of these terrorists have brought setbacks in the actualisation of Niger state govẹrnment multi billion naira Bobi Grasing Reserve and road projects within the affected communities.

GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO HAILS FUT MINNA  AS IT  RECORDS  OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has hailed  the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna for making positive impact on Niger state and the country as a whole over the years.

The Governor gave the commendation at the 30th Convocation ceremony and 38th Founder's Day of the institution.

Governor Sani Bello acknowledged that the Federal tertiary institution has experienced tremendous transformation under the leadership of the University .

"My friend and brother the VC, I want to congratulate the institution, I can see a clear difference , from the last time I was here few years ago , the difference is clear. I wish the University more  successes, he said.

He also congratulated all the graduands for their efforts  towards attaining the academic pursuits, adding that this will be the beginning of a better future for them to the benefit of the society. 

"Let me also use this opportunity to congratulate the graduands their families after years of hardwork, I pray this will be the beginning of a better future for them and their entire families", he said.

The Governor also felicitated with the awardees of the honorary doctorate degrees, describing the award as well deserved. 

In his address, the Chancellor, FUT Minna, the Deji of Akure and Chairman Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun II who paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the University for laying a good foundation upon which the institution is standing, encouraged all stakeholders of the institution to continue to think outside the box in other to fulfil their mandate of conducting cutting-edge research aimed at solving societal problems and accelerate economic growth. 

Also, the Pro- Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, FUT, Minna, Prof. Olu Obafemi said the Governing Council of the University is poised to put the institution on a higher pedestal by making it a credible model for other institutions. 

The Vice Chancellor FUT Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala explained that University had graduated a total of 3,892 undergraduate students, 1,157 Higher degrees and diplomas our of which 200 backed Post-graduate Diplomas, 836 for Master's degrees while 121 were for Doctorate degrees.

He acknowledged the devotion, tenacity and contribution of honorary doctorate degrees awardees in the growth and development of the country adding that they epitomise the Nigeria of tomorrow. 

The Vice Chancellor also enumerated the numerous achievements of the institution under his tenure ranging from policy and institutional reforms, Infrastructural Development, partnerships, community engagements, improved academic activities, increased in research, innovation and development among others. 

Former Nigeria's Head of State Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, President, African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, Group Managing Director, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari and founder and chairman, BUA group, Abdul Samad Rabiu were awarded with the honorary doctorate degrees of doctors of Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Entrepreneurship respectively. 

Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar decried the insecurity bedeviling the country and urged for concerted efforts by all and sundry to assist the security operatives with intelligence pointing out that they are over stretched.

While appreciating the institution for finding him worthy of the award, he cautioned politicians to avoid using youths for wrong purposes and also charged the youths not to be allowed themselves to be negative weapons in the hands of politicians even as the general election is drawing closer.

Dr. Adesina and Mele Kyari in their separate remarks highlighted the importance of technology and energy describing them as drivers for engendering rapid socio-economic development in any society. 

They encouraged the graduands to be agents of transformation in Nigeria, African and the world as they have been shaped and prepared for success. 

They appreciated the University leadership for the award and pledged their continuous support for the institution.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello had earlier in company of some eminent Nigerians inaugurated some of the infrastructural projects at the institution.
