Events / Re: Wedding Fundraisers Are Becoming A Trend In Nigeria And It's Absurd. by ChiefS(m): 7:54am On May 27
Mine is different.
Mine was not wedding invitation but funeral. One of my colleagues at work not close invited me to be in her committe of friends when she lost her mother. We were not close. She is in a distant department but we exchange greetings occasionally when we saw. But we have never discussed for 20; minutes before. I politely declined because things were terribly difficult for me and funeral was not in Lagos but in Anambra. There was no practical means of me attending the funeral. I noticed her attitude has significantly changed always wearing a long face.

Education / Re: Covenant Beats UI, FUTA To Retain Nigeria’s Best University Spot (Full List) by ChiefS(m): 1:37pm On Apr 12
Ranking is not always very accurate and does not reflect reality and true picture. The truth is that private universities devote a lot of time to documentation and tailor all their energies into coming tops in global rankings. Many of the private universities are serviced by staff of Federal Universities as adjuncts. Ranking can be misleading as it does not reflect the quality of teaching and impact of the products of the universities. For instance, there is no way a university less than 20 years can match the impact of the University of Ibadan which has existed for more than 70 years and produced various global icons. The truth is that the research of many old or retired professors at such universities may not be available online.

Very sad and unfortunate. It's when you suffer from a major health challenge that you know how poor and frail you are. Money earned in 5 years may not be enough for one month. May God help us in this country.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Fails To Replace Recalled Ambassadors, 5 Months After by ChiefS(m): 10:48am On Feb 09
Emilokan and having capacity to govern are totally different. The void created by this is huge. Also in teritary institutions he came and dissolved Governing Councils. At least Buhari allowed Governing Councils appointed by Jonathan to conclude their terms. 7 months later there are no Governing Councils. The promotion of many persons is hanging. Head of these institutions are operating like kings.

Politics / Re: Bola Ahmed Tinubu Good Luck Sent Nigeria To The Final Of The Nations Cup by ChiefS(m): 10:38pm On Feb 07
It was during Buhari's draconian regime in 1985 that Nigeria won the first ever Kodak Under-17 World Cup.

Abacha as bad as Nigerian's remembered with was the Nigerian leader when Nigeria won most of the famous sports competitions.

In 1994, Super eagles of Nigeria won AFCON during Abacha's regime.

Super eagles played in the first ever World Cup in 1994 under General Sanni Abacha. In their first match Nigeria beat star-studded Bulgaria 3:0. Marginally lost to Argentina 1:2 and beat Greece 2:0.
We were painfully eliminated by Italy 1:2 after leading them 1:0 until the dying minutes when Roberto Baggio equalised. They were awarded a controversial penalty in extra time which the converted. Italy played all the way to the final where they lost to Brazil on penalties.

It was during Abacha's regime that Nigeria won the first and only Olympic Gold medal in Football. It was during Abacha's regime that Chioma Ajunwa won the first individual gold medal for Nigeria. Did that make Abacha the best thing that happened to Nigeria??
Politics / Re: Until We EMBRACE Made-in-Nigeria Goods, FORGET About Naira Value Rising! by ChiefS(m): 6:20pm On Feb 04
Rostikol:
Until we START TO LOVE, PREFER, and VALUE NIGERIAN-MADE GOODS AND SERVICES over foreign-made goods and services, FORGET ABOUT THE NAIRA VALUE RISING.

Until we PREFER to buy Nigerian made shoes, slippers, handbags, cars, sandals, clothes, watches, bangles, etc INSTEAD OF foreign made, FORGET ABOUT NAIRA VALUE RISING.

We have to start to see things like the Chinese.

A China man prefers to buy made in China, even if the foreign version from London is of better quality.

Why? Because he's thinking ''why should I enrich Europeans instead of my own Chinese people?''

And so, this makes manufacturing very profitable in China! And the currency very strong! There is more demand for the Chinese yuan than for the dollar!

Why?

Because the people PREFER made in China to imported!

Without that mindset in Nigeria, FORGET ABOUT NAIRA VALUE RISING.

We cannot have a mindset that laughs at a man for wearing 'Aba-made' shoes.

That's a destructive, ignorant, anti-African mindset that will lead us into the abyss.

THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THESE WOMEN WE CALL NIGERIAN WOMEN SPEND ON SO-CALLED BRAZILIAN HAIR ALONE EACH YEAR, IS MORE THAN 2 BILLION DOLLARS.

IMAGINE IF THEY DECOLONISED THEIR MINDSET, AND FAVOURED TRADITIONAL PLAITING AND WEAVING HAIR STYLES OVER IMPORTED PERMS, WIGS, AND FAKE HAIR, ......THAT ALONE WOULD GENERATE EMPLOYMENT FOR 3 MILLION LOCAL HAIR STYLISTS MINIMUM, AND SHORE UP THE NAIRA VALUE.

When do we wise up as a people?

It's not about pointing fingers at govt officials. They make up less than 0.1% of the Nigerian population.

We over-estimate their influence and capacity to alter society.

THIS IS ON US!

Just as we started to prefer Nigerian movies and music over foreign, which made those sectors BLOW to world class proportions, we can accomplish similar by preferring NIGERIAN MADE GOODS AND SERVICES to foreign made.

When we do that, THE ENTIRE COUNTRY WILL BLOW.

This is cheap blackmail against the masses. Has government taken the lead on that? Imagine if the president and his team, governors of the 36 states and the various teams, national & state house assembly members fully patronize locally made goods both in official capacity and personal level. We will have a strong Naira.

Celebrities / Re: "Why I Can’t Date Or Marry Man That Can Cook" – Former GWR Holder Hilda Baci by ChiefS(m): 6:44pm On Dec 14, 2023
That's a myopic reason. Some men used to be good cook before marriage. Pressure of career advancement and making money in order to take care of the family made them to forget the way to the kitchen. Getting a man that's a good cook has many advantages. When the wife is sick or overstressed or even out of town, the man can handle cooking without much stress. If your husband travels for a period and has to rely on other women to cook for him, your marriage may be threatened.

Odewaleadesoye:
Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, aka Hilda Baci, has said she can’t date or marry a man who knows how to cook.

She said she loves cooking, stressing that she doesn’t want a man who will outshine her in the kitchen.

The former Guinness World Record holder said her love language is a man ordering food for her.

Speaking in a viral podcast video making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), Baci said,

Politics / Re: Electoral College Should Elect President Of Nigeria A New Way Forward??? by ChiefS(m): 1:42pm On Dec 04, 2023
KnowAll:
There are about 10,000 wards in Nigeria. By having 2 representatives per ward that would give us a 20,000.00 capacity who would now vote who they want to be president electronically. That is by using their phones.

This would not only reduce the billions spent on present day INEC to bear insignificance. But would entrench a free fair election all over d country.

Supported. In addition, rotation of presidency across the 6 geopolitical zones should be enshrined in the constitution. Preference should be given to zones that have not produced president since 1999. It should also be a single term presidency of 5 years.

The trillions of Naira used to organise presidential elections since 1999 should have been used to bridge the infrastructural deficit. Nigerian elections as presently done can never produce the will of the people. So instead of wasting trillions on elections why not allow the foolish wise men to elect someone for us.

By building universities he is creating more jobs.

More lecturers in various fields as well as non-academic staff like, engineers, administrators, accountants, auditors, ICT experts, medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technologists, security men, porters, drivers will be employed to run a standard university.

He should create more jobs instead, imagine building universities while graduates are still jobless for decades due to unemployment.

Ten Hag is the architect of his downfall. He sold too many players during the summer. All he needed to have done was to add 3-5 players to his squad to beef up his team. He shouldn't have let goalkeeper and Fred to leave. It was a huge mistake.
