brandsoncharlie:
Have you worked in a FG job before, go and see what people who are in FG job has achieved a lot more than their counterpart, if not for this buhari regime that's slow.
I work in a first generation Federal University. There's a lot of misconception about FG jobs. While some people in certain departments or positions make good money legitimately and illegally, majority are not that lucky especially in this time of galloping inflation.

Job security is not everything. There's no need to sacrifice big opportunities on the altar of job security.

FamilyRe: Uncle In-law Is Becoming Unbearable by ChiefS(m): 7:24pm On Dec 25, 2021
edego2up:
I married my wife and my father in-law gave us his blessings after that every year ending I use to give my father in-law things like rice chicken and some ingredients for the celebration,
By late last year my in-law died and these things which i use to give my father in-law now goes to my mother inlaw, but the senior brother to my father in-law is now on my neck, anytime he sees my wife,he always is threatening fire and brimstone.

He says that since his brother's demised we have not been visiting him and infact have not received any Christmas gift from US
Meanwhile,in every Christmas i always do for my mother inlaw what i should have done for my father in-law.

I am now confused i don't know who to serve now between my mother in-law and uncle in-law.he is now blowing fire and brimestone

The major matter now is how i can be able to service my mother inlaw and my uncle in-law then my family. I am a low income earner just managing to keep ends meet, see where i now find myself.

The main reason i am nolonger at ease is because these tribe are mainly known to practice witchcraft especialy the very family.

Please nairalanders what should I do now to save my head and the head of my loved ones.
If you love jokes kindly skip this Post for this is a very serious matter.

Even now my mind is telling me to devorse her and life goes on, will this decision also affect me? infact how, how, hooooooowwwwee?
You owe him nothing. Perhaps you created the platform for them to have entitlement mentality.
FamilyRe: My Younger Brother Is A Bone In Our Throat. Pls Help! by ChiefS(m): 6:59pm On Dec 24, 2021
Cyntie55:
Good day nairalanders. Season greetings to y'all. I'm so angry right now. Please I need mature advice.

My father is not a learned person but he make sure all his children are graduates. My younger brother(last born and only son) rounded up his Nysc few months ago, we're just 2 girls. My elder sis and I. My elder sis is a nurse in Austria (3 years now), she's married with a kid in Austria. My big sister send money home once in 3 months, and I have been the one receiving the money. I share the money exactly as instructed by my big sis. I have never cheated anyone, Infact my Dad and Big sis communicate very well. My Dad trust me so much.

My younger brother is always angry, He said he feel cheated all the time. He shouts and talks to me anyhow like I'm his mate.
Honestly speaking, I gave my younger brother more love and respect that he could ever imagine. When he was serving, he would call telling me he need 10k urgently, sometimes 20k, that he will pay back. Immediately I will send it to him and he would never pay back. Same thing he does to my father.
If we ask him what's he using his allawee for?? He would angrily say so is becus we're sending him "chicken change" that's why we're asking jamb questions.

He said we don't regard him, he called my Dad a SIMP, he said my Dad listen more to my big sis and I....but he don't listen to any of his suggestions.

My brother is a 2:1 (second class upper) graduate in economics from UNIBEN. After his Nysc all he does is to sleep and eat. My Dad's good friend told my brother to come to Lagos and resume work with him. He refused. My Dad ask him if he wants to further his education (masters or professional courses)he said no....Okay follow my Dad to his cement shop and help him (my dad even promised to pay him salary) he refused....I overheard him on a call with a friend and i suspect he's now into yahoo yahoo.

Look at what happened. My big sis sent us money yesterday to celebrate this festive period. She said I should give my brother 50k, I should take 80k and give my father the rest (abt 250k). My Dad is always aware of everything.
I even added 20k out of my money and I transferred 70k to my brother, I was left with 60k (becus she also sent me hair and I plan to sell it becus I already had enough). You can imagine this ungrateful idiot started insulting me, that I cheated him. the fool angrily withdrawn the money from his account and SET IT ON FIRE (70k). He called my elder sister and started warning her saying "if he can't receive the money henceforth, she should stop sending him money again that he's the man of the house".
My Dad gave him a resetting, resounding, hot and dirty slaps. He pulled out a knife, deflated my Dad's car tyres and ran away from the house.

Everyone is not happy. I don't want my brother to live a wayward life. He's 24 years old. Please nairalanders Help!
He perhaps was over pampered as the only son. He now has so much entitlement mentality. There is little anyone can do at this stage to change him. You sister should send his money directly to him. There's even no need to feed his entitlement. He should go and work. No food for a lazy man.

CelebritiesRe: Ojo Arowosafe: Fadeyi Oloro Begs For Financial Support (Video) by ChiefS(m): 1:46pm On Dec 09, 2021
Many of these male actors were really never rich. There is a huge difference between being popular and being wealthy. In their days there were no social medial influencers or followers. In Nigeria where the pension system is not working, most people start relying on their children for survival after retirement. The question is whether they didn't have children or have some investments to fall back to when they were younger.

Stevenson20:
All these actors I no kukuma understand una life oooo. Does it mean that the male actors don't save or invest when the money was flowing in huh

I don't want to talk about their female counterpart because I already know how they get their money and buy cars and houses that is mind blowing.

EducationRe: Nigerian Scientists/lecturers Are Not Lazy! by ChiefS(m): 11:06am On Dec 09, 2021
You expect them to do it with their meagre salaries. An aN -XRAY machine alone costs $5,000. You want those whose salaries are less than $500 monthly to invent X-ray machines from their pockets.

okeyumez:
There's no scientist in Nigeria. Let's stop fooling ourselves. We only have theory scientists with plenty grammar. Why hasn't any so called scientist in Nigeria discovered vaccine for malaria or covid 19 drugs? No scientist in Nigeria has built transformers, phones, X-ray machines, motor engines, photocopy machines or spaceship. We only study to have titles and depend on white man.

My friend once told me to marry the sister. I also, remember by chance hearing the mother shouting to her to go and greet me. Though they didn't know I heard it. From that very day I became careful.

The challenge is if you truly love her and if she has what you desire in a spouse. Not just marrying him or her because she is your friend's sister.

RomanceRe: Why Do Some Family Members Act Like They Don't Care by ChiefS(m): 6:29pm On Aug 05, 2021
At 27 you ought to have acquired a skill or obtained at least an OND. It's really difficult for a salary earner who is managing himself to raise substantial capital to support someone without a skill except the person in question is truly rich. Instead of blaming others you should start with menial job. Save some money and acquire a skill or go back to school. The earlier you take responsibility the better for you.
cry my guy I'm just really tired, they won't ask.. Okay I asked for a capital to start a small business. They ignored, I locked up. Went to do menial jobs to support myself and Mum.. E no easy walahi. There was a time I saw my mum crying . my guy I weak. As at now!! Im just tired of everything! Did u know I even tried to end everything? Most times I wish I wasn't born sef. Lol . I'm 27 and I don't have a source of income, I don't have a degree too.. Doing menial jobs to survive.
RomanceRe: Why Do Some Family Members Act Like They Don't Care by ChiefS(m): 1:25pm On Aug 05, 2021
You have only heard from your friend and not his uncle. He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches. You may assume the uncle does not care but you do not know the amount he is paying monthly as loan. You don't know his relationship with the HR or management of the company you think he is in a position to offer employment. Let's stop this entitlement mentality. Let's learn to work hard and trust God who makes all things possible. Let's stop blaming others for our woes.

Shayron:
I have been on this forum for quite sometime, I have been a guest all this while but my friend is in desperate need of help so I figure out it would be better if I seek you guys opinion.

I have a friend who's uncle is a well to do man works in a big organization and can use is influence to secure jobs or loans for my freind.

My freind has been at his Mercy for quite some time now, she is very hard-working though but she has witnessed the man help those who ain't even family members secure jobs in great places.

This is someone she calls family and uncle. This is not the first time of seeing this, I have seen this quite a lot it's very common amongst our people here in the south.

My question is why do family members turn your backs on you even though they have the power to help you out of your current situation. Blood they say is Thicke than water if I can't help my cousin or nephew then why are we family. She has been begging this man, and this man clearly can work things out.
She has a work herself but it's not self sustaining coupled with the act that she has younger ones to look after.

I have told her to look elsewhere that sometimes our helpers are not close as we think? What kinda advie would you give herhuh

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Can One Rent An Apartment Of 250k Per Annum With 80k Job? by ChiefS(m): 10:09am On Jul 30, 2021
Consider other factors also such as proximity to your work, comfort and security. The reality is that if you're in Lagos its difficult to get any decent apartment less than that price that is not too far from your place of work.

If you are married or plan to get married in the next 1 year then you can go for it while working towards improving your income through other legal sources. If you are not married or don't intend to do so in the nearest future then you can manage smaller apartment.

PoliticsRe: The Difference Between Igbo Millionaires And Northern Millionaires by ChiefS(m): 12:39pm On Jul 19, 2021
rosinkkit:
90% of igbo millionaires and billionaires are EXTREMELY selfish. THEIR OWN FAMILIES SUFFER, apart from the wife and kids.

They rarely do anything for their own communities apart from maybe distribute rice and provisions to the villagers at christmas.

You will see an Igbo man worth several millions of dollars. Some of his brothers/cousins etc will still be hustling on the streets, some even hawking.

You never see that with northerners. Once one of them is rich, and you see the brothers, you won't even know the one that is the big shot, because they're all solid.

When they travel to Dubai, you'll see up to 20 of them at the airport, from Alhaji to his brothers, sisters, mum, dad, cousins, drivers, hairdressers, house helps etc.

An Igbo man, if he travels with anyone, na him wife and maybe his kids. Finish.

More often than not, he just sneaks out alone.

I think the refusal of wealthy Igbos to share their wealth among their relatives and close kinsmen is a reason for the continued marginalisation of Igbos in Nigeria. Political influence requires that you have a large base of well-to-do elite. When you restrict that elite to a tiny club of monied men, your base is weakened, and easy to manipulate. It is very easy for others to take advantage of your group.
Not true. Igbo people do more for their siblings than other tribes. The truth is that a lot of siblings of millionaires and even civil servants have too much of entitlement mentality. Even for their brothers barely trying to survive the people back home are never ready to understand.

And you think that step is normal. That students should return to their various homes and continue the spread. They should have prevented them from going home my brother and then step up their testing in order to curtail the spread.
I don't think they have the resources to do that. Moreover, even while on campus, students often visit home and mingle with the larger society. They could still have spread it in the community even if they were not sent home. Many who do not have hostel accommodation attend lectures from their various homes.
But closure of the school is a wrong step, as this will further facilitate the rapid spread of the virus and students will have to go to their various homes. PoliticsRe: Ibom Air: Why Can't Lagos State Have An Airline Like Akwa Ibom State? by ChiefS(m): 4:02pm On Jul 04, 2021
Even if the investment fails, it has created employment for many. The employees have acquired skills and experience in the aviation sector that will help them move on in life. The nightmare of travellers on that route has been minimised. Created business opportunities for the contractors. It is better than doling out N20,000 -N40,000 to people for doing nothing.
