Hello House

Let me start by congratulating those that have gotten their PPRs, especially the applicants that started their September with the biggest news on this thread, its really raining PPRs in this new month, and I pray it continues like this for everyone on this thread in Jesus name.. AMEN

And for those that have been refused, like I always preach here, you were just refused but not denied, its not over until you Win. So do not give up.. As our norm is on this thread, after refusal, order for your GCMS notes cos this will paint the real picture of your application, the progress of your Application from scratch to finish and also the real reasons your application was refused as against the generic reasons you get with your refusal...

Now to the reason for my post this morning, and this goes to the applicants that have gotten their PPR of recent and not come back to share their timeline.. I consider this action selfish and unpleasant.. Before you all got your PPR, you came here daily to get information on how to get your application approved by either asking questions or reading silently... Now you got your PPR, you feel you do not need the thread again, this is not so good behavior...

Sharing your timeline helps this thread a lot, not just the newbies but even we the gurus.... Cos things change everyday as regards this Canada study permit application.. I personally, despite my wide experience on this thread, I learnt something last 2 weeks or so of an applicant that got his/her PPR without Medical request or Upfront medicals, also his/her Eligibility review didn't start not until when the PPR dropped, and note that this person is a Nigerian that needs to do Medicals. Before then, if anybody had told me that someone will get PPR without Medicals, I would have argued with the fellow, but thanks to that PPR timeline, now I know it is possible to get PPR without doing any kinda Medicals even though we know protocol was broken for that applicant..

The truth is that even the gurus learn from this thread as no guru works with IRCC or is any Guru an IRCC approved consultant, neither are we trained Visa officers. what we give out here is what we study and learn here and also in our other personal researches..
I see so many PPR applicants here saying they are coming back to drop their timelines, and we wont see their green light here again, all they kow is to take take and take and not giving back to the thread, this is not too good for this thread I must be sincere..

We are not asking for too much from you, when you get your PPR, share your timelines and let peeps here learn from your success stories as no two application is the same, lets know the different approaches you took to get your application approved so others can follow suit..

For those still expecting their PPR please take note of this cos I am certain your PPR is dropping soon..

It shall surely end in praise..

Peace

MAKANO

I support this more than 100%.

Please, please and please, give back to the community that helped you, (on-line or in-person).
You do not know where your next help may come from.

it will end in praise.

LONG POST ALERT

LANDING GISTT

Omo, I’ve been inactive here for like a week and I just want to say congratulations to everyone that has gotten PPR and also to those that got delyed, please keep pushing, IT WILL DEFINITELY END IN PRAISE.

Traveled on the 23rd of August with Lufthansa (booked on AirCanada website). Let me just say that I’ll advise those that plan to use AirCanada to use someone already in Canada to help them to book because I made the mistake of booking from Nigeria only for me to receive a mail like a week to my flight that “my payment was not confirmed “ and I should come and make payment in person at any of their service centers (NOTE: AirCanada does not have any service Centre in Nigeria). My aunt was able to help me go to the Toronto Pearson Airport and make payment again and they later refunded my money.

So back to the D-day, i had a connecting flight with Lufthansa to Frankfurt and then from Frankfurt to Toronto which was set for 10:55pm. People are leaving this country ooo, the queue to enter Murtala Mohammed airport was so long and I heard people had even been on the queue for up to 2 hours. Mine didn’t take that long as I got to the airport around 6:30pm and the line had started moving.

Finally entered and had to go and weigh my bag because I knew it was more than the accepted kg (I had 32kg and 17kg). I balanced it sha because I don’t have money for extra luggage and my folks had to take some stuff back home.
When it was time to get boarding pass, they asked for passport, flight ticket and scanned my Covid test. They also gave me that yellow card to fill in my details. It’s advisable to wrap your foodstuff (it’s 1k) for protection.

My family couldn’t follow me past this point and this was when the floodgates opened ooo, me that was forming hard girl hard girl (Thank God for face mask lol)

At Customs, they asked for my boarding pass, passport (which they stamped) and then you’ll have to remove your shoes and any gadgets you have in your hand luggage.

My flight to Frankfurt was short sha because I slept most of it. The food was cold so I just had tea.

When I got to Frankfurt, it got interesting. Their method of searching, check-in and boarding was very organized. There was a woman there that her Covid test had expired and they told her she would have to redo it (very expensive at that airport).

The flight to Toronto was much longer and AirCanada’s movie selection is top notch. I didn’t even know when I had watched 3 full movies but then no WiFi (you have to pay for it)

Once we landed ehn, first thing I did was Thank God because no be me do am, I’m still shocked sef. Canada Border services asked for Enrollment letter, Admission letter, proof of funds (gave them my funding letter) and then Covid test and I was given my study permit. I also registered on Switch health for arrival Covid test so I ddnt have to stay on the long queue and was out of there within minutes, they also gave me hometest kit for Day 8 (I’m not fully vaccinated)

Right now, I’m on Day 9 of my quarantine (Hotel accommodation provided by my school for 14 days) and I’ve been trying to eat their food o but sometimes it’s difficult. My aunt brought food for me so I’m still on Naija diet .

Anyone that arrives Toronto and wants to connect, I’m always happy to.

Thanks for this platform, I really gained a lot from here, we will all rejoice!

I want to connect oo.

We arrived the same day, same province, my fellow quarantine mate.

Which school?

Don't be offended. Pls why use hotel accommodation for quarantine, when you have family here?

Welcome to Canny Land grin

Good day everyone, I just joined and happy with what's happening here. Alot of information is being shared here. I submitted my application on the 27th of April 2021 , did biometric on the 10th of May and recieved correspondence letter for Biometric validity on the 18th of August after i submitted two webforms and since then I have not gotten any response from them. My program is to start on the 1st of September and college gave deadline for deferal so I requested to defer, after 1 month I got deferral approval response today and the message said I would get New LOA within three weeks, so I'm a kind of confused I need to inform IRCC of my deferral and my new LOA is not available, what do I do? What if I get my PPR and my admission is already deferred, is it necessary that my sponsor write to IRCC that he is aware I deferred the and still in support ??
Help a sister please

Online App: 27th April 2021
Biometric: 10th May 2021
BVL: 18th August 2021 after sending two web forms.

Program start date: 1st September (which is today).
Program deferral approved and new LOA to be expected within 3 weeks.

Questions:

1. Should I inform IRCC of the deferral without a new LOA in support?

I would suggest you wait for your new LOA because IRCC are very comfortable with stated facts that are backed with evidence.

2. PPR + Deferred admission, should my sponsor inform IRCC of continuous financial support?

I think this is a valid question. With the new LOA, IRCC is now aware that your circumstances has changed and may like to know that funds will still be available for your studies. Do back the letter up with your sponsor’s account statement.

I would suggest you send the letter together with your new LOA.

Hope this helps.

I hope I made some sense here undecided grin

Please, better suggestions should be offered. grin

What about I, I am going for a one year program to fanshewe college London, Ontario. With co-oo, what options do I have?

If you are below 30 years, FSWP; OINP (i.e if your school is on their approved Canadian Institutions List); and CEC.
PNP is also available, but I believe it fit applicants who have low CRS score because of the age factor.

Co-op helps you to earn some income (for paid ones) and gain some Canadian work experience that you will need in the labour market after your studies. I think it plays no part in the immigration pathway.

Please, “RESEARCH” cos your own peculiar circumstance/situation will determine which pathway is best for you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
But my dad addressed his sponsorship letter to Abuja VFS hope it doesn’t affect anything?

I believe sponsorship letter is meant for IRCC Visa Officer’s review in support of your study permit/visa application and ought to be addressed to him/her via that address and not to VFS, that handles biometric collections.

Well, hopefully the VO might see it as a minor mistake. I would suggest you send in a properly addressed sponsorship letter via web form.
Just don’t give them any reason for stories that touch....
All the best in your application.

Greetings to the Elders!

I got admission into University of Windsor Summer 2022 and University of Regina for Winter 2022 for Master, Human Resources Managment. Both are for 2 years and tuition is within the same range.

Also, i just got another admission into Royal Roads University, BC for Master in Global Management 19months with COOP and a bit cheaper than the 2 above.

My confusion is now confused and i am hereby pleading for the elders to please come forward and advice me.

i am 40, self sponsored and my kids will join me later

Thank you!

I believe your ultimate goal is to become a PR and subsequently a Citizen. So, you have to choose the school that is located in a province that will give you an easy and quick pathway to PR, considering that age is not on your side as per FSWP (Express Entry). My fellow 40 Club member grin

HR in Windsor (Ontario), so you are looking at OINP (Masters Pathway).
HR in Regina (Saskatchewan), so check out the PNP Pathway. I am not too familiar with that, and
Global Management in Royal Roads (British Columbia), which is the IT/Tech province with its own PNP pathway. Look into that too.

I will recommend Windsor, Ontario. I guess am biased, cos that's my province.

Though you can use this pathway (OINP) with a Master's degree from Regina and Royal Roads, the trick here is that you have to show "Ties to Ontario", the same way you show home ties for study permit. So, having a Masters from Windsor is an automatic tie to the province. Because during your course of studies, you must have been involved in one community, volunteer work or the other and also you would have developed relationships through friends, church activities, etc. All these are ties, connections to the province.

You can on the other hand choose any of the three, since there is the option of CEC pathway (have at least 1 year full time work experience). Work experience gained under study permit, for eg co-op, does not count). The co-op advantage is that it helps you to get a foot inside the door of the Canadian labour market.

Las, las, the decision is yours. Research and make an informed decision. Please, the above are just my humble views.

Hope this helps to eliminate the confusion. Abi the confusion that was confused, has now become more confused grin grin grin

All the best.

I will advise to go for a co-op program as it definitely gives you the required work experience you would need in Canada. Any teaching assistantship, internship or co-op is a major advantage as you will be paid for your hours of work.

@Reomond

Yes, you will be able to gain the much sought after Canadian Experience. But note that not all co-op programs are paid. Check your school program page for further clarification.

We are all here to help one another.
Some render free help, while others paid.
Both are fine, as long as it puts a smile on the "helpees" face.
That smile for me is the goal.

For all the PPR hopefuls, keep hope and faith alive.
For all the PPR delays, it's not a denial, redo and refire.
For all the PPR recipients, congratulations.
For all the landed study permit holders, hope you all are making progress towards your Canadian dreams.
This land will surly favour us all.

Currently on my Day 7 quarantine. Will do my Day 8 Covid-19 test tomorrow.
Fingers crossed, negative result I pray.

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks. And Thanks. In fact, a million thanks to you for taking your time to type a lengthy text to offer me the best understanding on what would be helpful to me.
Like you right pointed out, STEM is purely sciences and that's where my first degree and diploma falls into. As advice I would look out going for a social science business related course because of my work experience.

If I may ask, it is possible to change your course of study when you are already approved visa and in Canada soil? I love my science Lab coat and professional, because I nor get job for my field, I landed in the banking sector.

You can do that for DLI, but I don't know if you can do that for course of study. Pls, other members with better knowledge can throw more light on this.

Read this:

Source: IRCC website

"Changing your school or program:

Before you change your school or program, you must meet all the conditions of your study permit.

This means you must be:
enrolled at a designated learning institution (DLI) and
actively studying while you’re in Canada.

You need to contact us if you:

are a post-secondary student changing schools
have a co-op work permit and you’ve changed post-secondary schools to another co-op program or
need to change conditions on your study permit
We may ask you to confirm your student status
If you have a study permit, you may receive an email from us. The email address will end in “@cic.gc.ca.” You must follow the instructions in that email, by the date indicated, to confirm you’re enrolled and actively studying in Canada.

If you change schools and don’t tell us
Your old school will report you as not being registered to study. If this happens:

you’re breaking the conditions of your study permit
you may be asked to leave the country
this may prevent you from coming to Canada in the future
For example, you may not be approved for another study or work permit in the future.
Changing your DLI if you’re outside Canada
If you change your DLI before coming to Canada and you don’t let us know, you won’t be allowed to board your flight.

If your application is still in progress

You can tell us you changed your DLI by submitting a new letter of acceptance using the IRCC web form.

If your application has been approved

If your application for a study permit has been approved and you change your DLI, you must submit a new study permit application with a new letter of acceptance.

You must also pay all the fees for the new application."

Hope this helps.

Hello everyone!

Abeg for this Covid test within 72hrs of departure to cad, is it money based or is it not free?

I want to ask if you are being tested for the case of traveling out, is it money based? Or not?
Cos i know someone that did it, it was 50,400k while in my state, i went to make enquiries, the nurse told me it's free.
But i heard the attendant asking her if the person wants to use it to travel and the nurse help me to say No, in which i did not really disclose the purpose at first instance though.
So,i thought if the health center knew you are traveling out, Dem go put money like 50k above, please how true is this?

The main thing is, traveling out or not, COVID-19 TEST na same thing

It is not free. Cost is N50,400.

I would suggest you use a private lab.

I was advised by my airline (Qatar Airways) to use only "private labs" and not "government sponsored facility or lab".

Hope this helps.

On the issue of linking your application to/with unknown biometric details - You may have to get in touch with the VFS office where you did your biometrics to sought that out.

Yeah. It helps me greatly. Thanks for taking time out to offer this detailed reply with your own personal experience.

I even started working a year before my graduation and I have remained in that same job up till his hour but it is unfortunate that my course of study does not related to my current job. Although I would love to continue and pursue a higher degree on what I studied in the university rather than a complete change.

I have a diploma and Bsc in Microbiology but working in a bank as marketer for 14 years now. I love my sciences, but from what you are saying, my chances are higher if I consider social science related Master program.

Would I be denied if I go for a STEM course?

Tricky!

Its very tricky because:

1. though your first degree is related to the intended masters prog, there is a huge study gap;
2. your intended masters program is not related to your present work.

Applicants in your type of situation are usually advised to go for programs that relate to their present work/business.

However, IF you can give a cogent and tangible explanation in your SOP for switching because of your academic background, (for example you ardent desire to still go back to health sciences notwithstanding your many years of work experience in the banking industry), you MAY scale through.

Correct me if I am wrong: I think Microbiology is a health science and not a social science, right?
I am not sure if STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) includes social science courses. You will need to research into that.
And I think your chances are higher if you go for Business/Finance related Masters program.

Hope this helps.

Hello everybody, I just landed in Canada, the SP journey has been a hectic one, but grateful to have gotten here.

Landing gist,
Arrived MMA by 9 for my 1:45pm flight with Ethiopian airlines, the airport was basically empty, so I tipped the baggage security people 1k cos they already hailing me boss and said I can’t give them 5H, then I continued to agriculture declaration venue, I didn’t declare any agricultural products (though I had a bag full of food items) I just told them it’s clothes and books and since it was in a box, they let me go. Went ahead to check in, my bags weighed 20kg and 22kg, at check in; I showed Arrivecan, Covid test, admission letter/enrollment letter and Passport.
I got my boarding passes and proceeded to customs and immigration, I didn’t tip anybody, the airport was empty and nobody had my time, so it was quick. In 5mins I was done with immigration and my passport was stamped. Proceeded to board and we left for Addis Ababa, arrived at Addis Ababa, proceeded to my Gate and boarded my flight to Toronto. The flight stopped in Dublin for refuel and then proceeded to Toronto. Got to Toronto, didn’t declare anything at Customs, showed them I’m fully vaccinated and I was given the green sticker which meant I was exempted from quarantine and proceeded to immigration.

At immigration, my village people wanted to try nonsense because my passport and visa information was not coming up on the Immigration officer’s system, he kept scanning and typing. Finally it came on and we were both relieved. He asked about my school, fees and acceptance letter and proceeded to print out my study permit. By the time I finished at immigration, I had missed my flight to British Columbia which is my final destination. Went to the Air Canada counter and told them that I missed my flight because of the immigration officers and the woman rescheduled the flight for me without any extra fees (apparently I think if immigration makes you miss your flight, the airlines are not supposed to charge you, that’s what the immigration officer told me when I was trying to tell her I’ll miss my flight).

When my flight was rescheduled to 8pm…and I had 12hours in Toronto, I called a friend who came and took me to downtown Toronto and other places, ate a lot of food and walked a whole a lot. Came back to the airport and boarded my flight to BC (Toronto to BC is like Lagos to London)

Just arrived BC, and I’m waiting for a cab to go to my apartment.

I pray everybody on this journey will give their own landing gist soon! Amen!

All the best guys!

Congratulations!!!

I was also given a green sticker but presently on quarantine cry
It is well grin

So how long is the stamp validity
People that have gone cos me I have zeroed my mind that I am fine for next summer

Trust me flight fee and other factors are not favorable so the wait is better for me

Stamp validity is usually 1 year from date of issue.

Hope this helps.
