chikalouisa: Oh dear. If not for the twitter ban, you would have reached out to NIS on there cos they were very active on that platform in responding to complaints. I would suggest you check out their website for passports that are ready for collection. I don't have the link anymore, but it should be on their website. And pls, if you are a PPR hopeful, send in your passport to IRCC once it gets to you. Hope this helps. |

ManlikeDee: Your biometrics is valid for 10 years. So, if you applied like 3 years ago (2018 or there about), then you are good to go. Because of Covid-19, submission for now MUST be through a courier service company. Usually, DHL or UPS. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Enjay316: ''masters in Canada is usually 2 years'' - I think some, if not most, are 1 year in length. "The thing with self sponsorship is that you must have your full school fees ,ur living expenses and like 3000CAD for transportation and miscellaneous in your account or give a valid explanation on how the money will come with substantial evidence." - This applies to both self-sponsor (applicant alone) and self sponsor (family/relation). I think that is the general rule when it comes to POF (Tuition + Living Expenses + Transportation (in & out of Canada). I believe even in rare cases of full funding/scholarship (not too sure though). The above is just my opinion, I stand to be corrected Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Enick: My dear, with God anything is possible! Explain what you have been up to since you left school (study gap). Hopefully, if you have been working or were engaged in something related to your intended master's program, I think you are good to go. I graduated in 2001(LL.B)/2003(B.L), had over a decade work experience and applied for a Study Permit in 2021 for a PGC in a law related course. The rest, as they say, is history. If you are financially grounded and can prove the source of income, nothing stops you from sponsoring yourself. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Daylight23: I did my biometrics in Lagos Vfs and sent my pp to Lagos, (no transmission fee). It took 11 working days to get back to me (sent on 22nd July and received stamped pp on 6th August. If you add weekends, that makes it 15 days. I think transmission fee applies to delivery to Vfs center other than where you did your biometrics. From what I have read so far, I think Abuja is faster. For me, I had already budgeted that transmission fee for something else...lol Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Daylight23: Congratulations! Ideally, your passport validity period should accommodate the length of the visa you are requesting for and beyond. Otherwise, you may not likely get the full length of the visa period requested. This is usually stated on the PPR letter. As other members have noted, renewal is out of the question now, because your PPR has a 30 days deadline. Submit and hope for the best. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION: After landing in Canada, I think you can renew and apply for visa extension. However, there may be a pitfall here. I read somewhere that when one renews a passport with a valid Canadian visa, you cannot use that visa but rather you will have to apply for a fresh one. Please, I cannot verify this. I hope it is “NOT TRUE”. Just giving you a heads up. Kindly make your research and know what to expect. Congratulations once again and all the best. I sincerely hope this helps. 1 Like |

OmaJoe1: My views: I booked/used a one-way ticket. To the best of my knowledge, you can book either one. But the question now becomes why would you book a return when you know you may not likely use it. I think CBSA is more concerned with the fact that you have available funds to cover your transportation in and out of Canada after your studies and not whether your ticket is a one-way or return. As for the Asian student, from the encounter I witnessed the CBSA Officer was not satisfied that she was telling the truth even after she said she has already paid some fees. He directly called the student a liar when he couldn’t access her student portal to verify her claims. Mennn, I felt so bad imagining all the hurdles she must have scaled through to get to that point. Hope this helps. |

shams040: I believe it depends on the airline you intend to book with. I came in with Qatar and my first point of entry into Canada was Montreal, Pierre E. Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and from there I boarded my connecting flight with Air Canada to Toronto, Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Hope this helps. |

Part 20! Yes oooo. It’s good to be here again and give back to the community that I gained so muccccch from. You all are part of my success story and may all PPR hopefuls keep hope alive. Landing Gist: 23rd/24th August 2021. I arrived at the airport around 4:30pm for my 8:30pm flight, with my hubby and big bro. Hubby went to park the vehicle, so I went into the airport with my bro. My bags (2 check in bags, 1 hand luggage and my laptop bag) were scanned at the entrance and the NDLEA guy then physically searched one of the bags and made their usual comments of "find something for me naa" but big bro just ignored them. We were then directed to the airline counter. My bags were weighed and they were all within the limit allowed (had a scale at home). Hubby now came around, and with big bro they went to take care of wrapping the two check-in bags (I have heard stories of peoples' bags being tampered with). I then went for passenger profile/document verification. Everything went smoothly to the extent that one of the officers commended me for having all the required documents. After that, my bags were checked in and my boarding passes were issued. We then took care of FX and by then it was around 5:30pm. Hubby and big bro kept me company for another hour and after taking some pics, they then took their leave (I almost started crying when hubby was about to leave). I then reminded myself of one of my many mantras: "EYES ON THE BALL"....lol. I then went in for immigration checks, oh boy come and see line/queue. Finished that and went and sat down for boarding, which commenced a few minutes later. The flight was 7hrs 20mins from Lagos to Doha (Qatar Airlines) and their food wasn't my thing, though I enjoyed the sausage and rice (with tiny bits of chicken). Drinks were also provided and in flight entertainment was okay. We arrived Doha, and mennnn the hot air that heat my face when we disembarked na die. I quickly rushed to meet up with my connecting flight to Montreal (13hrs 15 mins from Doha to Montreal, next time it's European airline). We arrived Montreal 2 and half hours to my next flight to Toronto. Immigration checks next- The queue here na die because the immigration officers on seat were very few and were not fast enough. We complained to one of the officers and we were told their is nothing they can do and that if we miss our flight, the airline will rebook at no extra cost. That calmed me down a bit, but CBSA were not fast enough. While we were on the queue, an Asian/International student was not allowed to enter because CBSA could not verify her status on her school portal. Even after she told them she has already paid her fees. Oh boy, come see crying and begging, but no way. She was immediately booked on the next available flight back to her home country. E shock me ooo. I was like: abeg God, I don't mind missing my flight or even sleeping in this airport till the next morning for immigration to do their thing as long as I get stamped in.....lol. My documents were eventually verified and my permits (Study and Work) were issued. I had to also do a Covid-19 arrival test free of charge and I was given a take home kit for my day 8 test. We were also advised to carry our checked-in luggages since we are switching to another airline. All these made me to miss my flight. So, the airline (Air Canada) rebooked my flight, checked in my bags and 1 hour 20 mins later I arrived Toronto. At Toronto airport it took a while, but I eventually picked my bags and went out to meet my pick up. Since I am not fully vaccinated (was only able to get the first dose of AstraZeneca), I am on 2 weeks (14 days) quarantine and I check in every morning with ArriveCAN and COVID-19 Alert apps. I am presently on day 4 of my quarantine. Currently online checking out places to rent, though I can't book appointments to view the property (quarantine wahala). Hoping and praying that everything falls in place according to my plans in Jesus name. Amen! To God be all the glory! It will end in praise! 74 Likes 3 Shares |

ayoslas88: Please, kindly renew your passport, because the length of your passport validity determines the length of visa issued. Two of the passport requirements that will be mentioned in your PPR is that: 1. “Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada” and 2. “Please note that we cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport”. So, kindly do the needful ASAP. Hope this helps. 3 Likes |

Good morning, everyone. It’s been a while. Congrats to all PPR recipients and God’s grace to all PPR hopefuls. Just posted my first two comments on the “Living in Canada” sister thread. I was grinning from ear to ear. So my journey here has partially come to an end BUT I will always be available, as much as I possibly can (studies and all), to anyone who reaches out to me for help, if I am in the position to help. Thanks to all who made it possible for me to reach this stage (directly and indirectly). May all our dreams come. #keephopealive #itwillendinpraise 35 Likes |
