Run away from Mary land. I came in 4 weeks ago and I am even wondering if I should not run to another state. I had high bp and was monitored for a night. I did not want to stay in the hospital o, but the doctor did not allow me leave. in 10 days I received a bill of 2000$ For bp monitoring, out of which about 1400$ was for only room cost. This is not even part of the huge hospital fee I will pay during Labour.
If you must come to Maryland, plan for extra payment.
I have been asking them cost of epidural no one has given me. I called the anesthiologist and they asked me to ask the hospital for a code. Called hospital they said 'ask your doctor for a code'. Asked doctor, they gave me a code. Gave the code back to anesthologist they said 'wrong code'.
So I have made up my mind no epidural. Because if I take it without knowing the cost they might send me a bill of 4000$ for epidural alone. They don't joke here.
Which hospital are you using? I used shady groove. The truth is once you decide to give birth don't worry so much about the cost. Ur health matters. Toby is not a fantastic thing to experience in pregnancy. That's why I think one should keep or save 15,000 usd min for the trip

Hi House, my wife is going to Maryland for delivery in august.
Any idea on the best hospital when considering price? Holy Cross hospital is demanding 6000 dollars initial deposit while doctor fees is 2000 dollars. Everything is already looking in the big side. Wanna know the experience of those that delivered in Maryland. Best/cheapest package.
Need help on this please. Thanks
.

This might be late cos I have not been in a while. Try shadygrove hospital. I used dr Steve yu. Now, md is very expensive. U can check Virginia. Search for hospitals in Virginia here and pick the one closer to where u stay. All the best

Nefertitiram,

Abeg my baby reacts to any Nigeria made things o. I tried that bleer bleer, see mega bumps that came out oon her bum.

Send the pxsure of the pampers make I port sharply. Am still buying foreignh huggies for 18k a carton of 240size 3. Dat one is too painful jare.

Haven't seen NAN lactogen o, tried ordinaryN AN twice see vomiting ehhnn!!
Is like the girl is not aware that Nigeria is in recession abi? OK for milk, try isomil. The container is red and white .it's very good for sensitive babies. I always have issues with Nigerian pampers with all my kids. But the Nigerian pampers in white pack is good and gorich pampers is equally nice. Just buy Destin cream for the rashes

My exact thought!. How many months are u going for? Pls I think 4packs of milk and a cartoon of oriental noodles or other type of noodles without chicken written on it should be enough . Remember you have other foods stuff to carry plus u will also eat out. Don't carry what u dont or won't need.u will need the space to carry baby things back

Certified by Nestlé.
Even the oyibo milk ,babies are sometimes sensitive to the milk. My baby eats and poo immediately after taking similac advance. I tried Enfamil it was still happening though not as frequent. I take speed change to sma gold and the baby started gaining weight immediately. My baby for de like atinga cos I wan do oyibo.

Let ur mother go with malaria drugs from Nigeria. Some people have fever immediately after child birth or some weeks later.she should inform the pharma. That the malaria tablet is for someone that that just gave birth.

.

One of my rules while traveling is to never throw away receipt even chewing gum receipt till I get to Nigeria and my luggage is at home with me. My sister had a nasty experience with emirate in 2010.the paid for just half of her receipt. Plus they might even tell you that they are going to pay for certain things cos you are supposed to bring them into Nigeria in the first place

My dear Mamas and Papas, na so I booked uber from Oakbend to my accomodation in Richmond some days ago. Not more than 15-20 mins drive and the bill come up to $15.something. This is outrageuos in my own opinion. Please I need your help. Does anyone know of any cheap taxi operator in this Houston area I can book on a weekly rate or anything cheaper pls. God bless as you share.
.

It depends on the type of uber u picked. Uber has uberpool ( which is the cheapest and its a shared ride with other passengers ),Uber black and other two I can't remember. Uber black is usually very expensive and executive kind of.so alway check ur uber app to make sure you have the pool on.

Cbn have not intervened in the fx trading for a while now. Advice : if you re planning for your trip start buying ur dollars now. This thing is no longer rice and beans. Ur budget should be minimum of 7 million naira. The Nigerian naira is fast becoming bread paper

you can send from diff banks more than once in a quarter was able to send from eco sky and union just dont tell dem u have used other bank 9it will fly pls dat one per quarter na story.lol how will d kwn if u have done it else wre.

It might not be once a quarter but there is a limited. If you send about three or more, the system would bring out the msg that you have exceed your limit cos it programmed to identify your I'd through the id number. So if you must send more than two, use another person's id. Again, if you send more than 4 _ 5 to one name, the western union people will send back to Nigeria.

Use the account that reflects his true state of affairs and can be defended. The money in the account for cars, if I understand you belong to other people for cars they want to purchase.Right.
So that isn't his money...
.

I don't agree with this. @ chanbaby, you husband is simply doing business that the money was paid in by other people does not matter. If you are asked u tell the vo that you are husband works for. ........ And he is also into car business or importation of vehicles (after all some dey come from outside naija) .while giving him the statement you can tell him that one is for his salary while the second is his business account. The fact that both are in his name is better for you. That way u might not need reference letter from bank to identify or state ownership. Oyibo people de do 2-4 jobs so it's not strange for one to be working and having a side business.

BTW does hubby work in a bank?
I had my 1st baby in d uk and d 2nd in d US. Trust me, the care given in d US is very very money centred. So very compromised. Forget all d 'they were sweet n efficient' pple come to type here. Most are comparing to naija.

I got a call a day after my antenatal dat doc has decided to induce me (thou twas at no xtra cost) I still called to speak to her to ask y d induction. And she clearly had no reason. Just said baby was ready to come out. I was 39wks and had bn 2cm dieted for abt a wk. But gud exercise cld ve made labour progress. But of course I was already tired n wanted to come back home so I agreed to d induction.
US docs r quick to induce n give epidural. I didn't take epidural for dis birth cos it was used to do my 2nd degree stitches wiv my 1st in d uk n I absolutely hated hw it made me feel wen it was wearing off.
But dy tried so hard to force it on me.

Yes we cant compare health care but I can tell you that I ve had better experience in Nigeria than what people are seeing over there. There are good and bad hospitals everywhere.we also have excellent and experienced doctors here.we just need them to bring in more equipment and upgrade their knowledge.

Am sure they don't treat citizens like that. Always forcing or "advising" induction or cs

Very true. I gave birth to my first baby at 6cm. I said it and people were asking me made push at 6cm. The baby flew out of my body at the second push no intervention need. And those rogues are busy using pitocin and performing cs. All they are interested in is their pocket and reputation. Nonsense

Hello everyone, I had my baby a month ago at
Methodist Sugarland and my dr was dr Robertson ( (she is with dr F). At 40.2 weeks I was feeling so much pressure so I called the dr who said I should go to the hospital, at the hospital the dr called the nurses to observe me for 2hrs( I was biled$1870 for that and also $175 to read the ultrasound that was done) after the 2 hr observation I was sent home that there was no patterned contraction.

The next day the pressure increased and I had to go back to the hospital the nurses checked me and I was admitted at 3cm dilation, the next morning dr dama came to break my water and by noon at 6cm dilation a dr Nixon came and insisted on me taking pitocin and I said no at 2pm she insisted on the pitocin n I took it less than 2 mins after she came in to say the baby's heart beat has dropped and she needed to perform a cs. The baby was delivered at 2:22pm.
In all of these my dr never called me once, she made me incur extra $1870 without any justification. I think dr F and his team are too busy and we all need to find alternatives. I incurred unnecessary cost just because they are new to methodist and they don't know how things work there. Please, if you are using methodist Sugarland try and pre register, ask questions about other associated cost and do not go there if you are not in Labour. Based on my recent experience I will not be using dr F's team for my next missionary journey.[/quote

I know dollar is scarce and things are hard, but my people please lets think things through before we put our selves from frying pan to proper fire.to birth in USA is wonderful but this quest for the cheapest hospital and doctor is not proper. We have been advised to research for other doctors and people took it the wrong way. These recent experience is enough to support the call for research and teach us to change our approach and attitude towards this trip. American citizenship is great but not worth our lives.

We all complain of poor care in Nigeria and cross seven seas and desert to gladly receive very poor and ridiculous attention. These doctors love cs. All of them with no exception. They are more comfortable performing cs than virginal birth and always in a hurry to induce when its clear that 90% of the time, its lead to complications. For people yet to deliver, pls if you meet a doctor and una spirit no gle or he is a hurry abeg find another one fast.and read reviews about ur hospital before you enter one chance.

This is false. The 48 hours starts counting when the patient is admitted, not when the patient gives birth. It is the same in every hospital in the USA. If it were not the case you would not be billed for false labour. Once you have a room you are using the hospitals resources and as such the hospital bills for this. Unfortunately, hospital services are not free.
.

U are not correct. It depends on state and hospital. For my last baby. I gave birth by 2am on Tuesday and left hospital by 1 pm Wednesday and was billed for one night
