jacksparow: Very interesting. someone will spend extra 70k flying to lagos and back and if you have no where to stay, hotel bill just to collect PTA.and if the person doesnt want to put it in a dorm account and it gets stolen by robbers what then..... these banks are not sensitive at all. Kai . Don't blame the banks. We don't pay in fx in branches again so how would they get the dollar to pay you. Its CBN and the policies plus low oil price we should blame. That said. If you want to collect pta from Lagos you can speak to your account office or a friend in the paticular bank to see if they could help arrange with the head office to send it down or find someone in Lagos to collect for you with an authorization letter( if the bank allows that . I know some do ). Or find out if there is a way they will keep it as collected so u can pick close to yiur traveling date.(cos if its not collected, they are bound by CBN to return it.) Pls note that the last option should ONLY be considered if you have a solid contact or a close friend in that head office |

Note you can't apply without the babies present but you can pick without them. So you have to wait till there are OK .I support the move to Houston where you have someone ( hope they are willing to help) to drive to place and share the burden with. The Lord is your strength. [quote author=chloe7 post=47157607]what i'm saying is what the law says as regards it, mama's have carried over 10k into the us and none of them actually haven't said they were called for interview when renewing visa, also during the interview most people give $18k 15k as birth estimate and the v.o's are fine with it why because it is Legal to carry such amount of money once it is declared. [/quotat .
I never said its illegal to carry cover 10,000 USD. Am speaking out of my personal experience,my brother and my husband . we have all been called at renewal cos we at different times declare over 10,000. Like I said they want to verify the purpose of funds. They know people enter the USA for various reasons. They want to be sure of ur reason especially when u did not declare ur intention to give birth. |

just to give update on my decision so far as per giving birth in Yankee, after careful review and timeline my DH and I have decided to just jejely born the pikin( issue) for naija, I tried registering with the hospital in dallas I chose but my contact there was so busy and with the case of applying and securing close appointment date seeming impossible I didn't wanna risk paying a hospital 1k dollars for registration then begin speak phonetics after for refund, seeing as I didn start the process on time.
so my people any mamas recommend good hospitals in lagos ( am thinking of going with premier specialist in VI, grateful for reviews.
Thank you to all who commented and adviced ( lady G and all the other commenters who showed interest and gave genuine opinions, you guys are the real MVP)

You paid 165 at the passport agency. Passport agency are not every state. For instance for pple in Maryland and Virginia , the nearest agency is in Washington. So when u add the train or taxi money plus the stress of draging the baby. |

customised87: Its not only those that have one month extra stay that use the post office o, its mainly for those who dont have a passport office in dre vicinity, they are left with only one option of requesting through the post office if they dont want to travel to another state that has a passport office. . Of course anyone can use the post office. Never implied otherwise. but considering u have to get ur BC before applying. If you have less than one month or at most three weeks, u might not get it before ur travel date. Cos the fastest u can receive the passport is two weeks. Just letting pple know about that option so they can use it if they have the time instead of booking flight and train to new York or Washington |

ridlaw: Hello house, My sister intends to have her baby in the US. She is 4 months pregnant with a visiting visa which she got last month. Should she write a change of intent to the embassy? There's somewhere I read if she writes a change of intent after just a month of obtaining her visa, it could be cancelled. How true?! This is her first child after 9 years of marriage so she doesn't want to take any chance. How can she best achieve her aim? Justwise, LadyG and other gurus in the house should kindly help with the information. Let your sister go for her vacation first.she should use the opportunity to look for a doctor and hospital. Then comeback for the delivery. She might get her visa cancelled if she writes to the embassy considering the fact that she is already four months |

CassyO: Hello mamac and papas finally my little angle has arrived I want to thank each and everyone of you that has contributed to this forum. my story. Work up early hours of the 23rd of May to peeonly to find out I was peeing blood, told my mum and she said it was time to go to the hospital.
On getting there I was checked in. Baby and mother where both doing well but mother was not not dilated. I was still 2cm after 24hours my doctor had to out me on meds to help with the dilating. So my mum and I started to pary finally I was 4cm but the meds was not good for the baby as his heart rate was droping drestically. Do y doctor said we would have to do a CS my face dropped was unhappy about this as I had budgeted for VD. Mind you baby was still at risk we both where.
Finally my mum told me it's the will of God. To cut the story short my baby came yesterday he weighed 6.25 pound and is very healthy. Mother is still under recovery. I just want to thank God for my life and that of my baby because we where both at full risk.
My only worry is this bill but am sure God will do it again for me. Help me thank God everyone. . Congrats dear, no worry about bills. Times are hard yes but your life and that of the baby is more important. There is always the option of payment plan. |
