papiroza: Thank you o jare. Like I said, I now follow this thread religiously. I'm just a little confused on how to write the letter change of intent. On this forum, I've read testimonies of people who fail to write the letter and still scaled through at POE. I've also read about those who wrote and got a generic response, stipulating that entering the USA is purely at the discretion of the CBP and immigration at the POE. In similar vein, some have written and got their visas cancelled. Hope u understand my dilemma. I don't have any reason to lie during the renewal and frankly didn't understand the differences in these visas. That's my fault anyways. Letter or not, so long I desire to have my kid in US, it will happen. The covenant I have with God is that He will grant all my wishes. Thanks for wishing me safe trip. . I think you should not bother with the letter. Just get ur documents and cash. Or if u can afford it go for a vacation before the birthing trip |

Xenadarl: Congrats to all the new mums, we give thanks to God for His Mercies. Had quite a day today. left Delaware today via train to Washington after booking appointments online at both the US passport office (there's none in Delaware) and the Nigerian consulate. Had posted my $77 money order to the address requested as instructed on the Nigerian immigration site and printed out my acknowledgement receipt a week ago and had been firing prayers for God's grace on the sojourn. So me n the LO woke up @4am, LO well fed and wrapped placed in car seat and off we go to the train station. Left the amtrak station at Wilmington, Delaware at 6.30am arrived washington dc at 8.20am. Took the subway to Washington DC US passport office arrived about an hour l8r. Within anoda hour baby's documents had been processed and we were asked to come for collection the next day, pleaded with the lady who attended to me that I needed to collect it that day as I don't live in DC and she goes like, OMG, you came all the way from Delaware! Not a problem, happy to do that for you ma'am. Pls come back today by 2.30pm for your daughters' passport. Off we head to the Nigerian Consulate which was 20mins away by Uber. Me-een, DC traffic no be here! We arrive there abt 11.30am, processed our documents within 30mins. About an hour l8r we were called for capturing, they really took care of those with kids, their service was really good, surpassed my expectations by far! After that we were asked to wait for collection but nor told how long we would have to wait. Naija style. Was beginning to worry cos the lady at the US passport office told me to make sure to get there b4 3pm as they close at that time and as I said b4 DC traffic ain't funny. But suprisingly shortly b4 2pm the passports we ready. You need to have seen me grinning ear to ear. Off we head again catch anoda uber back to the US passport office and collect our blue passport. Both passports collected same day b4 3pm, could only be God! By then this breastfeeding mama was starving we walked 6mins to good ol' Mcdonalds had a good meal and even had time to ride on the DC tour bus and see the sights b4 heading home to Delaware. When I told my host my plan she was doubtful weather I could accomplish all in one day even I was too but I trusted God and He saw me through. Wasn't easy o, as I was alone but He was faithful. . Pls did u use cash or card to buy the money order? |

Cobiss: Hello, I have a question. About Fit to Fly, must it be from a government hospital? Do they accept Fit to Fly from private hospital? I intend using Lufthansa/United and am travelling from abuja. . Those Lufthansa pple are crazy sometimes. If ur hospital will collect money before they give u the fit to fly, don't bother. Just be at the airport early enough and collect from port health cos they might still insist u get from them. |

greatie: Hello mamas, As if Dr F likes inducing Reading mamas post on this is getting me scared. Being a FTM and reading d adverse effect of induced labour from d last mama that finally had CS, i dont think it a good idea.
Pls mamas who have gone through this could you share your experience? He's my doctor and i wanna be sure of anything he might be bringing to the table.
Thanks in advance. I think its best u wait for the baby to come naturally. I know u might be tired of carrying the baby and experiencing sleepless nights. But you have to discuss with your doctor and if there is no medical reason for the induction. Pls wait for labor to start on its own. If it doesnt on its own then go for the induction.Anyway please ,biko remove that fear from your system. Childbirth is not as terrible as pple make it seem. Once u are there, ur mind would be focused on seeing ur lo that u see urself doing everything possible for the baby to come. U only marvel when u are out as to where the strength and insights came from. And that when u know that God is truly amazing. He is the one that gave u the baby and when its time, he will bring the baby out. Epidural or no epidural, induction , Dr f, Dr e,Dr a, and even Dr Steve are all additions as far as am concerned.Just go with God |
Fast forward to when I was in labor, labor was HARD, to make it worse, the midwife made me push for two hours without success. My cervix started swelling, the woman then made the decision to send us to a hospital (a highbrow one at that!) When we got the hospital, Nurse checks me and says "Oh you're 8 cm dilated" I swear if That midwife was there, dilated. ad have pulled her hair! I pushed for 2 WHOLE HOURS and I wasn't fully dilated.
That was a terrible experience. The midwife must be either incompetent , inexperienced or both. I gave birth to my first baby at 6cm dilated though the baby weight 2.8. I have my second and third @ 8cm. Both weighed 3.8kg. And she was constantly checking if u had dilated that why ur cervix swell up. Let thank God u and ur lo are safe. |

SlowlybtSurely: That wasn't being mean. There is nothing mean about telling someone mis-yarning to zip it.
I've noticed the way he replies posts here with somuch authority like he works with immigration, even when he hasn't the minutest clue about what he's on about.
When mamas used that MIHS deal, he wasn't even on this thread. Questions were asked, people doubted, until hardeymijuh flew all the way to Phoenix to make enquiries about the deal, before mamas here embraced it.
So yea, he should keep shut when it comes to things he knows nothing about. I have a feeling that he/she might be one of those Houston poe officers. |

Lawyer123: Please can you give examples of these things that are not worth shipping. Thanks! The truth is that MOST things in naija are fake.if u can afford it I advise u go for baby food and clothes, ur clothes and clothes and shoes for the older kids, body cream and soap (I buy soap and cream here because my kids react to the same brand when I buy at home. I won't advise anyone to buy diapers and wipe.(na use and throw away). If the money too much u can consider items like bedsheets, blanket ,beverages, cereal, cooking oil. Na ur pocket ( and calculator ) go tell u But one should also consider the harsh economy and think wisely before buying else one might end up buying things u might not need or even cheaper in naija. |

isysleek: My people pls a random question.
1. My visa is in my old passport. I have a new passport and I have done change of name. When travelling, all I need is to present both passports(expired old one passport with visa and new passport with surname changed).
2.Please when travelling to London for instance, with your toddler, do I have to carry any document to show I the mum? Eg birth cert. Tho I have changed my name so our surnames are the same.
Since I'm not going with hubby, just my lil one, does hubby need to write a consent letter saying he's her dad and consents to my travelling with her.
Questions may sound silly but pls I need answers.
Please note that this trip is to London not America.
Thanks pple. U might also add the papers for your change of name |

ChicMalkia: Thanks for sharing @LadyG but I still really do not understand...like what was their offence and is there more to the story? I still do not get it at all... . I think the issue is getting your visa for holiday in October and in the usual way of sending letter of intent, u leave the vacation and give one reason then decide u are going to give birth in the us. They have seen too much of that trend these days. Sometimes they don't respond to the letter for change/notification of intent. I think it's best one travels first with the vacation visa but going for childbirth. To think their intentions/ Reasons might be genuine |

these banks are thieves o. see gtb bank that doesnt give pta..topping the list, n even zenith bank topped the list in feb. . If u read the article well, u will understand that they were talking about total fx allocated to banks for various use not just pta and how the funds were utilized. Fx allocation is for so many things. The banks get b/w 100-200k for PTA every week and sometimes they don't get at all . Imagine the number of people looking for the money plus businessmen and student. It's hard but we should keep trying our best |

Zenith gives pta from head office and Maitama branch only but u have to queue on time and like I said earlier Look for a high rank officer from your branch to follow up.big banks have a lot of high profile customers and the pressure is much.when they agree to give, u won't get up to 2000usd |

Hubbysluv: Hello everybody
Am new here? have gone through the thread and i appreciate the good work you guys are doing in this forum. Please I need guidance as I want to give birth in US
Please I want to ask, Must one apply for medical visa if you want to give birth in US, what if you apply as tourist Note. I dont have any bad intention,I just want to know if any body have gone through that route. Just need clarification on that. Thanks . If u apply as a tourist, u might be asked if u are pregnant.if u say no and visa is given to u, u will have issues at the point of entry.the chances of u r visa being cancel is very high. If you say yes, the voice will ask for hospital and doctors papers. The way I see it , it's easier to get u r papers and go for medical that way you will be settled and calm when coming in.besides who says the don't refuse people going on visits |

Tips for PTA - apply in small banks like standard chart, wema, union, fidelity, skye, and esp unity . All banks get pta from cbn but the issues is still the Nigerian factor. Some business guys present fake receipt thereby blocking legit pple . Make sure u have a contact person for follow up preferably a high ranking office or a very close personal person. Very important to apply on time (1 month plus before u r date and start calling). call u r contact on Fridays and Mondays. PTA comes on monday/Tuesday. Be very persistent . |

I was told by my mother who was advised by her mother that the use of hand can result to some minor injury or make the nipple over sensitive so when ur lo starts suckin it might experience some injury on the nipple. I use hand towel to Wash and apply Vaseline after . I guess olive oil is good too. It will soften those things and make it easier for you to remove them. The use of hand does not delay the flow of milk. |
Pls new and old mama's I urgently need advise.
I just put to bed but haven't been able to express any breastmilk since the last 24hrs. LO sucks but nothing comes out. I am still doing skin to skin contact to initiate milk flow. Pls is there anyone who has experienced this and has a solution. Currently she is being bottled fed but i ll like to stop it asap.[/.
Like others have advised, it is very important the baby keep sucking. It will eventually come. But I will also advise that 1) u take a lot of fluid, like hot beverage or pap even warm water ( that s assuming u had a vd) 2) if you are staying with someone. Let them help find palmwine for u. If its possible. 3) can someone also get u hot and very watery nsala soup or onugbu soup. 4) u are supposed to have been doing this since three months. When u take ur birth, take a hand towel and gentle wipe ur nipples ( pls don't scrub or remove anything with your hand) as some particles tend to block the opening, so ur lo will have to suck to open it up if you have not been cleaning it. This also makes it easier for the baby But 24hr is still OK and nothing to worry about. Keep trying it will soon happen. Congrats |
