Career › Re: How Access Bank Treated Us Unjustly by chilan: 8:16am On May 21, 2015 |
rightthing276: First of all, I want to start by saying I created this Account, just to remain annonymous for now.
My story
In May 2014, Access Bank started A Project called Project ART. The ART means Account Reactivation Team.
Access Bank recruited DSAs (Via various Out sourcing firms)from All over Nigeria with the job function of Reactivating and opening New Accounts. They made all sorts of promises to us which I would highlight below
The Bank said, We would be paid a basic salary of 40,000Naira. Every other extra earnings would come from incentives. The incentive structure was thus, if you open or reactivate an account and the customer takes an ATM card, you get 100 naira, if a customer subscribes for Mobile Banking, another 100 naira, if they subscribe for internet banking, Another 100 naira. Meaning, a DSA can make as much as 300 naira per account. So if I'm able to sign on like 1000 accounts in a month, I can make as much as 200,000 after gathering and counting my 100 Naira. This was really a good deal
The bank set the monthly target at 200 accounts and said, if you can achieve above 200 accounts, that's an A* (A star) grade for the month, if by 6 months, you get an A* in your appraisal, you will get an ipad and a recommendation letter for being outstanding and if by the end of one year, you get an A*
In your annual appraisal, you will be sent to Access bank training school and converted to a full staff of Access bank. The MD of Access Bank himself, Herbert Wigwe, came out himself and addressed DSAs, highlighting and affirming all these promises, So we were to be sure that it wasn't another recruitment scam.
Hearing all these good news from the horse's mouth was really a spur and so there and then, a lot of us made up our minds to succeed.
So we started work and a lot of people hit and surpassed the targets, you should have seen the way my colleagues worked hard, opening accounts; I mean ALL kinds: Salary , students, regulars, co-operates etc. Some people even travelled outside Lagos to open accounts and get deals. It was that serious.
NB: The DSAs where placed under the supervision of full staff, each team had 10 DSAs and 3 proffessional staff. The structure was, The DSAs would source for the accounts and tag it to the MIS codes of the full staff, meaning, if I work, it would count for some one else in the bank, so basicaly, the full staff would just sit down and be pressing computer, inside AC,while the DSAs would do the Hustling.
Two months into the job, Access bank reduced the basic salary from 40 to 35,000 naira, giving reasons that it was a deduction for health insurance and till today, we did not sign any papers to that effect. Lots of people couldn't take it and so they resigned, infact, that was when the project started loosing core materials(human Assets).
Some people held on, for the hope ahead. By the 3rd month, lots of people were on A*, they met and surpassed the Target. So Access bank maybe did profit and loss and increased the target to 400 accounts a month.
This was the point where I feared my colleagues. There was this girl, Goodness from VI team, that girl is good! There were others like Otaigbe same VI team, there was Lara, Ikeja team, Mayowa too and there was this other born-again girl like that. I call this one Principality mehn! Her name Esther from Apapa team. I think by the end of the project, she was the over all best, I mean National best. I heard her grade was around 150%. That's like an A superstar. She was a game changer and I admired her secretly.
Meanwhile, the first set of incentives came in the 3rd month which was july, the second set came in September so you can imagine people feeding off on 35k for like two months. By the time the incentive started coming in, it was nothing to write home about: people were getting as low as 3000, 6000, 1500. Someone even got 100 naira as I heard. Customers where not funding the accounts immediately, others didn't want ATM cards.
By October, the 3rd set of incentive was suppose to be out and paid, that was were we got the bulkest of incentives since the beginning of the Project. At least, I saw mine was arround 31k but guess what? It has not been paid even as we speak! Since October 2014.
To cut a long story short, by December, Access bank called off the project. I guess the DSAs had fufilled the mission before the set time. So DSAs were put on hold till the verdict was announced on who and who would go to training school. By this time, a lot of people had left, some other waited but the bank wasn't communicating anything to the DSA and so others left too as they lost hope.
Most of these people who left were the real materials while most of those who remained were junks. When a DSA leaves, his work is divided amongst his other colleagues, meaning, if we are 10 and 5 leave, all there accounts would be shared to the thus boosting the grades of some of those junk heads who remained. So most of those left overs would then be having grades like D to C and before you know it A, even when they didn't really work for it. Just a few did work for it Like Principality, Goodness, Otaigbe, Kunle, Lara, Rotibi as I can remeber.
By March this year, the verdict was taken. The full staff had been graded and paid bonuses based on the works of the DSAs, and so the DSAs were expectant. Training school was sure for some even though the Ipad had not yet come and it was past six months.
Guess what the bank did, they reposted the DSAs left to a new team to continue as DSAs- no promotion, no training school, just imagine! No salary upgrade, same 35,000 niara, infact no communication on incentives too.
This is very painful and I'm using this medium to say "Dear Herbert Wigwe, dear Toba Olusola, dear Victor Otuokwu, this is not what you promised us". We feel used and dumped, you told us yourselves that we would be staffed and if you cannot fuffil your obligation to your first customer(your Staff), then I doubt if your second customers should take you seriously. This is an intergrity issue as well.
Some of my colleagues were sacked for stealing and suppressing cash, Access bank has stolen and suppressed over 8 months of our lives and I tag it an intergrity issue as well.
Yesterday, we heard that finally, the Ipad for the exceptional DSAs was ready and guess what, The bank has been disbursing them to those junk heads and has refused to give to those who stayed till the end of the project and also qualified for the Ipads before leaving, saying that provision was not made for those who left. This is so wrong, it is their hard work, Access bank was suppose to give them in October but didn't, why won't you give them the reward of their labour now? Its just like saying you won't pay someone who left your job an outstanding 3 months salary because they left
Dear Herbert, Dear Bolaji, this is another intergrity issue.
Please MODS, move this to the right Spot until appropraite decisions are taken.
Disclaimer: to all those whose names were mentioned, you never can tell, I may have just helped you communicate all you have been unable to say, I may have just helped you get your due reward so don't get angry but be hopeful for a blessing. Politics › Re: Why Bola Tinubu & Muhammadu Buhari Marriage Is Falling Apart by chilan: 7:29am On May 11, 2015 |
Operko: by Musa Abdullahi
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, well known as the ‘Jagaban of Bourdillon’ and widely reported as the Machiavelli of Nigeria by the Financial Times for sealing the deal for Nigeria’s President-elect Muhammadu Buhari doesn’t seem too happy shortly after the elections.
Here’s what we know according to sources from both sides, before the merger and throughout the elections, Bola Tinubu has been the one deciding for the South-West, from the nomination of Yemi Osibanjo,Nigeria’s Vice President-elect, to the election of John Oyegun, the party National Chairman.
Speaking at the Lagos TV complex, Agidingbi while marking Fashola’s 2,900th day in office, openly partisan Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu and a close friend to Bola Tinub, hinted on the fight between the Tinubu and the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.
He said,“People, who are now telling Buhari all sorts of things, are sycophants. They did not want Buhari to emerge winner in the election. These people know themselves. When it gets to a stage, I will name them one after the other. I am not afraid of human beings,” Akiolu explained.
Tinubu and Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the Rivers man who is widely reported to have funded the Buhari campaign don’t see eye-t0-eye, just to give our readers an understanding of what’s been going on.
After General Buhari was declared winner of the polls, that’s when he started avoiding Tinubu but opted for Ibukunle Amosun, the Ogun State governor.
A Chieftain of the party hinted NewsWireNGR, “Close allies to the General insists that if he must maintain his corruption free credentials, avoiding Tinubu will be the best decision, secondly, reducing his influence (Tinubu) will give him an opportunity to choose members of his team”.
Amosun has been a long time friend of Buhari in the South-West, recall that Amosun was a former member and senator with the All Nigeria’s Peoples Party, (ANPP) same platform with Buhari in the past, so the union didn’t start today.
Though governor Amosun left for the Action Congress of Nigeria and is widely seen as one of Tinubu’s governor’s, “reality is that, Amosun is one of those governors that aren’t loyal to Tinubu as many have made it seem”, a source tells NewsWireNGR.
The face-off between Tinubu and Buhari became obvious when the President-elect approved the final lists for candidates of the 19 member transition committee, to Tinubu’s surprise, only one of his nominee made the lists and was neither a Chairman or deputy Chair.
“Tinubu expected his candidate, Mr Wale Edun to have been chairman or deputy chairman, but that didn’t happen as General Buhari also asked Amosun to send in names which gave room for the appointment of Mrs Nike Aboderin”. A source within the Tinubu camp tells NewsWireNGR.
The source who doesn’t want to be mentioned said, “Some of us are asking where was the 85-year-old Malam Ahmed Joda before now? How can we have a committee with a serious task and a man as old as Joda is expected to cross the T’s and Dots the I’s to do the job well”.
Mr Wale Salami, is widely believed to have been appointed by Tunde Fashola and not Tinubu .
“General Buhari didn’t depend on Tinubu for the South-West slots and that’s where the problem is emanating from, he went on to ask Amosun and Fashola, and for someone like Tinubu, that’s an insult to bring in representatives from the South-West region through a different channel”. A party member, Shamsudeen Usman, privileged to the information tells NewsWireNGR.
Mrs Nike Aboderin the candidate that made the Buhari committee lists, shocked Tinubu. Aboderin was nominated by governor Amosun, she worked as the Senior Special Adviser on trade and investment as well as an economic adviser to the governor…
Shamsudeen continued, “The entire south-west just contributed about 500,000 votes which is smaller as compared to what the entire Zamfara, delivered to GMB not to even call states in the Northeast or Kano”
“So what’s it that the region is bringing to blackmail Buhari into handing over the government to Tinubu who thinks controlling Lagos is same as Buhari?”.
“Each time we talk about Buhari’s administration, people are quick to remind us that without the South-west region, GMB wouldn’t have emerged, thats a lie, with or without that region he would have, it was time for Jonathan to leave and nothing would have stopped him”.
Nigeria’s Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar is widely rumoured as GMB’s favourite as well as Amaechi believed to have all the attention and the President-elect. Buhari had sent Atiku to lobby for the candidacy of Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Adesina as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Atiku is one of the men with open access to the President-elect.
Another source said to NewsWireNGR, “Tinubu needs to understand that General Buhari will not serve him but Nigerians and what he thinks will work for the nation, we hear he is in Lagos trying to use the Press against GMB, but we will wait and see, we have seen the editorials already attacking Buhari”.
Yemi Osibanjo who has been left at the Lagos State governors Lodge in Asokoro seems not to know what is going on as people are all headed to the defence House to Visit Buhari, “Osibanjo only attends meetings when he is called to do so by the President-elect” another source said.
“He was invited when the APC governors came around.. For now, he can’t do anything but wait, i don’t know why he needs to be part of every meeting by the President-elect, he is not the President-elect”.
The Dailybeast story that reminded Nigerians about Tinubu’s role in a drug ring in the US was planted by a chieftain of the APC, said another member at the party’s headquarter.
“We have all known that Tinubu is involved in the drug cartel but how come all of a sudden people refer to him as the Machiavelli?, Nigerians need to be reminded because he is trying to display a clean image which actually he lacks”.
The South-West APC governors apart from Rauf Aregbesola are tired of Tinubu”s overwhelming influence, reasons they have pushed to allow their nominees work with Buhari and what befell the “Lagos Strongman” in the inauguration list might still be fall him.
On Ministerial appointments, the APC governors in the South-West have all submitted three names each, same with their counterparts in other states of the country, reducing Tinubu’s influence in appointments.
What will become of the two (Buhari and Tinubu) in years ahead, only time will tell, but Nigerians are eager for the Change promised by Buhari and his cabinet and not the in-fighting ongoing..

lagos360: A friend has been into music for like eternity. He'd always sing for us (friends). He's an IT guy, not that he's making millions but fairly comfortable. He was into a very serious relationship last year and composed a song that he meant to be played on his wedding day. Unfortunately things went sour and the relationship was ended. He finished the song about two weeks ago. We convinced him to put it online and the response has been small but exciting. Thing is, he got an email, then a call from one of the current top 10 artist in the Nigerian music industry offering to buy the song for 5 Million naira cash.
Point is, cos of the response he's been getting from the song, he's thinking of recording an album. We've been talking of taking the songs to radio stations (we understand it's not going to be free and we could pull it off to get a fair amount of airplay).
I don't want to sound arrogant but 5M while quite an amount isn't enough I think. This song in question is the type of song that's just different and unique in its own way. I think my friend's song can shape his music career just like "African Queen" shaped 2Baba's career. Politics › Re: Questions General Buhari Must Answer, By Fani-kayode by chilan: 12:10pm On Dec 14, 2014 |
lalasticlala: ........ Permit me to share just one example of the expression of that soft spot in this contribution. On June 3, 2013, Thisday Newspaper’s lead story carried the following headline: ‘’The military offensive against Boko Haram is anti-North – General Muhammadu Buhari’.The story ran as follows:
‘’Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has criticised the declaration of state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States and the subsequent military offensive against the Boko Haram Islamic sect. Buhari, who featured on the “Guest of the Week,” a Hausa programme of the Kaduna-based Liberty Radio, yesterday, said the Federal Government’s action was a gross injustice against the North. According to him, unlike the special treatment the Federal Government gave to the Niger Delta militants, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished. He said he was not in support of the declaration of state of emergency in the three north-eastern states because President Goodluck Jonathan had failed from the outset in addressing the security situation in the country’’. The implications of these comments, coming from a former Head of State, are obvious and self-evident.
Yet that same General Buhari who said these unacceptable things one year ago is now busy pontificating about his concerns for our nation. Many would argue that, that is pretty rich coming from him given his past comments about a ruthless group of terrorists who, more than any other, merit the award for the greatest ‘’troublers of our nation’’. Given this, I regard Buhari’s comments to The Nation Newspaper on July 22, 2014 as nothing but self-serving.
Of particular interest to me were the following words:
‘’Never before have I seen a Nigerian President declare war on his own country as we are seeing now’’. Really? Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that the war that President Goodluck Jonathan has declared was against terrorism and Boko Haram and not against the Nigerian people.
Questions begging for answers
Does General Buhari find it difficult to make a distinction between the jihadists and the Nigerian people?
Does he see them as being one and the same? Does he actually equate members of Jama’at ahl as-sunnah li-d-da’wa wa-l-jihad with the Nigerian people? Does he regard the military offensive against Boko Haram as being an offensive against OUR people?
Does he honestly believe that anytime thata Boko Haram terrorist is killed by our armed forces and security agencies or that his house is blown up, it is an attack on the Nigerian people or an assault on the North? Are those people that Boko Haram slaughtering, terrorising, abducting, pillaging, robbing and raping on a daily basis all over our country not the real Nigerians?
Does he honestly believe that Boko Haram is representative of the thinking of our people or even the majority of the people in the Muslim North? Is he still insisting on having another Muslim as his running mate in order to establish his strange dream of a Muslim/Muslim President and Vice President for our country or has he shelved that idea due to public resentment and outrage?
Does he have any empathy with the Christian community in northern Nigeria for the immense suffering, degradation, humiliation, contempt, shame, indignity, persecution and mass murder that they have been subjected to inthe North for the last 53 years and particularly in the last few years?
Does he still believe that ‘’Christians should not worry when Muslims chop off their own arms and hands in the name of Sharia because it is none of their business’’ as he said in 2001?
Does he still believe that Boko Haram members should be forgiven, granted amnesty, pampered, sent abroad to learn and given monthly allowances like the Niger Delta militants like he suggested in 2013?
If the truth must be told, the only thing thatis worse than Boko Haram are those in the Nigerian political class that secretly support and covertly assist them.

talktimi: By Francis Igata
ENUGU — Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, declared his intention to run for the 2015 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In an emphatic statement, the Governor said, “I will be Nigeria’s President in 2015.”
He made the declaration at a rally organized by the Enugu State chapter of the APC at the Igbozurume Hall, in Emene, Enugu State.
The governor said Jonathan was not an Igbo man and that the PDP-led government had consistently marginalized the people of the South-East.
According to him: “Jonathan is not from the South-East, the Vice President is not from here, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, and the security chiefs, none of them is from the South-East. Igbo people have no place in Nigeria. How can we say that PDP belongs to Ndigbo?
“Niger Bridge is 419, Enugu/Onitsha and Port-Hacourt Express way are all evidences of their hatred for Ndigbo; they don’t remember the poor, all our leaders in PDP are only interested in their pockets, they don’t care about our children’s education.
“We are angry and we said we have to come out; in Imo State, poor people are happy now, they study from primary to university without paying penny; our God party is bigger than their God, if what they are doing to the poor people here is good, let them continue but if it is bad, God will uproot them.
In 2015, I will be the president of Nigeria, I have gone to Kaduna, I have gone to Lagos, I am in Enugu today, they are already afraid; they are now calling for dialogue. If they are discussing those contesting for presidency on the platform of APC, Owelle will be the first, Buhari and then Kwakwanso; they said it was zoned to the North, I told our party, when did the meeting take place? I also met with my brother Ngige and we zoned it to Ndigbo.
“APC is an emergency party for new Nigeria, if PDP is doing well, I would not have joined APC, when God wants to do something, he does it from anywhere, it doesn’t matter whether Nwobodo, Ken, Nwodo, Ekweremadu are with us or not.
“I heard that some of them are boasting of money, but tell them that Rochas has come; any day you hear that PDP brought money with pick-up, tell me so that I will bring money with trailer. All these PDP leaders in South-East, if you put their money together, it is not equal to half of my money.”

This was what was obtainable in Labour party when Olusegun Mimiko was still in Labour party, he was the leader of that party and chairman of its BOT while Dan Nwanyanwu was the national chairman. security details is in order. Section 68 (1)(g) made it clear that a lawmaker who defects when there is no division in his party shall vacate his seat. “The legal advice is that the operational word there is ‘shall.’ That section of the constitution is self- “There is a subsisting court injunction that there is no division in the PDP and that there is no merger. “It therefore means that based on that constitutional provision, Tambuwal is no longer a member of the House. Since he is no longer a member, then he cannot be the speaker.
“The withdrawal of Ex- speaker Tambuwal security details is in order. He will even be stopped from entering his office. He is no longer a member of the House.
Comrade Ifeduba ThankGod T ( Aguiyi na Ozubulu) Anambra The issue here is about speakership and not essentially about being a member of the house. Section 50(1) and (2) of the CFRN 1999 specifies how a speaker is appointed and vacated respectively. Those laws did not provide that once a speaker cross carpets, he ceases to be the speaker. Section 68 (1) of the CFRN 1999 which the Acting IGP refers to(which talks about how a member shall vacate his membership of the House) is not in tandem with the issue at hand which is that of speakership. Moreover it is not the duty of the Acting IGP to say whether Tambuwal is no longer the speaker or a member of the House. That duty at best is for the members of the House to decide and if they cannot, then the Court will do that. No law says that a speaker shall be a member of the ruling party or must come from the party occupying majority of the seats in the House. I understand the hasty approach of the PDP and GEJ in the treatment of this matter but whatever it is, the law must be obeyed. There are several minority members of the house that have joined the PDP in recent times, what did PDP say about them? By law, PDP should have read Section 68(1) g of CFRN 1999 to them but I never heard them do that. |

You are on point. I wonder what this nation is becoming. People dont reason things before they talk. Pastor Kumuyi was talking to his congregation in service and then what he was telling them as part of his sermon now becomes a national topic and people who ought to reason properly before replying are just joining issues with him on that. How many times have they joined issues with Moslems and other religions. I listened to that sermon live and he(Pastor Kumuyi) never condemned the roman catholic nor any church yet these congregations are condemning the man. Now I know that nigerians thrives more on rumours and unsubstantiated assertions than facts. |
