Sorry about your refusal. That is a really tough one. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with your transcript. Maybe the fact you only visited Dubai? I just can't say. I will suggest wait a bit and reapply. yinksob002: Good day house,
My dropbox renewal interview was unsuccessful. I was interviewed in Lagos (Window 4) See transcript below:
Me: Good morning VO: Good morning, how are you doing today? Me: I'm fine, thank you. VO: Your passport and DS160 confirmation please Me: (Hands it over to him) VO: I can see you have previously visited the US in 2017, which city did you go to? Me: New York VO: How long did you stay during your visit? Me: 2 weeks VO: Okay (nods his head affirmatively). Are you married? Me: Yes VO: Did your wife travel with you during your last trip to the US Me: No, she didn't as we were not married then VO: (looks at the screen and says okay) VO: Is she travelling with you on this proposed trip Me: No VO: Where do you work and what are your roles? Me: I work at xyz bank as a financial reporting officer and handles financial and management reporting, tax remittances, performance mgt .... VO: That's cool. So, where do you intend to visit this time and what will you be be doing? Me: I will be visiting New Jersey and in the course of my visit, go sight seeing and visit some places of attraction VO: Ok, have you visited any other country(s) apart from the US in the last 5 years? Me: Yes, I've visited South africa and UAE. VO: Any recent trip out of the country? Me: Yes, I was in Dubai, UAE in September VO: Did you go alone or with your wife? Me: I went with my wife VO: How long did you stay? Me: 8 days VO: That's good (looks at my passport to confirm the stamp) VO: Do you have kids yet Me: No VO: Ok, I'm sorry to inform you that you do not qualify for a US visa at this time (Hands over the refusal form). You can reapply some other time. VO: Do enjoy the rest your day Me: Thank you (Collected the refusal form and left).
Although, I wasn't too optimistic given the trend of events in the last one year, but i'm still shocked that I could be refused as i did not at anytime abuse the terms of my previous visa nor overstayed. What do you guys advise? |

What's the reciprocity fee and how much is it? Did you go to Abuja or Lagos? Thanks, and congrats again. It was in Lagos and the reciprocity fee is N40,700. |

Hello everyone, I finally went for my visa interview yesterday and got approved. My appointment was at 8am. I got there at 7:30.....there were a lot of people there. I forgot by GTbank slip so I had to go print it out and they charged me N3,000 lol. The rain started and see rushing to the shade. It was not a pleasant experience at all.
When I finally got in, the rejection rate was so high. I was like WOW....business men, families, the elderly all rejected. I have no idea what the VO's base their decision on. You could hear the interviews and I felt that was just some how but oh well... I was on the queue for about 20 mins.
When it was my turn, I went to the gentleman at window 2. He greeted me good morning and I was shocked lol (as I had read on the board that the VO's don't greet you and if you do, they hardly respond). So, I responded to his greeting.
VO: Passport please, which I handed over. VO: Sooo why are you going to the US? Me: For my annual leave to spend Christmas with my sister and her family. He typed and typed..... VO: How long are you going for? Me: 10 days. He typed and typed..... VO: Are you married? Me: No, I am not married nor do I have any children. (I added the last part cause I knew their next question was going to be about children lol) VO: What do you do? Me: I'm Head......at ..... Company VO: What countries have to traveled to? Me: I usually go to the UK for Christmas and I've been to France. He typed and typed..... VO: Please hand me over your passport. I did. He looked through it, I guess to look at my travel history. VO: I am going to approve your visa today, and you can pick up your passport on Friday. He slotted a little pink slip in my passport and gave me a white paper. I said thank you and ran lol.
I was so excited and went to the other line to pay my reciprocity fee. You know in my own case, I think it was my travel history that helped but I don't know as I am not married, have no children and one of my sister's live in the US. I'm just glad. |

Hello everyone, I got my visa approved yesterday and the VO said to pick up my passport on Friday. However, when I checked my status out of curiosity and excitement, I see under Administrative Processing. Is that the norm? |

OmoBendel24: Okay, no ish.... Just wanted to correct that! I'm sure LadyG also wasn't referring to you, she most likely thought I was responding to @angeland. Thanks for your response. Moving on and reading on... |

OmoBendel24: Again I ask, just before moving on, point me to where I did @the bolded to you if I already wrote here that the second paragraph of that post had nothing to do with you but another poster (@Angeland to be precise)? When you replied the poster who said something about doing my homework, your whole response was assumed to be about me. |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by chima1978: 9:46am On May 01, 2018 |
OmoBendel24: I really just get tired here sometimes. It seems some posters just want me to go on a tirade.... Oh, Please!!! If it helps both of us, kindly read through my last post you responded to; the first paragraph concerns you in my response to a post "goading" me. The only thing that could have offended you there which I don't see though, is the 96 - 2000 twist I brought in. So, how does that hurt please
Was only trying to make the OP see that we have two different characters involved here, namely you and the moniker 'Angeland'. Yet, you too seem to have gotten it all twisted. Are you one and the same person? Maybe that's where I'm getting it wrong.
The second paragraph of that post was addressing another person entirely whom I named 'sister' (not the church version, but the normal one like one who you respect so to speak. E.g. that 'anty', that 'sister' that works in that office), and not you. I am not Angeland nor do I know Angeland. I have explained the 96-2000 in my previous post. It hurt when you I thought you were referring to me when you began to talk about the implications of my actions, my sister, married, etc like I was planning to do something sinister. Anyway moving on, I hope I have shed more light in my previous posts. |

OmoBendel24: Not particularly looking bad, except the 96 - 2000 previous experience in the US, key! Throw more light if you will. And the use of your UK visa maybe, 2009-2013 vis-a-vis @the bolded.... Not married, no kids too ain't too good too, considering you kind of application actually requires lots of ties because of your immediate family tie in the US. Ok now I understand your question. 1996-2000 I went for my undergraduate degree. Came back as soon as I concluded and worked. Nothing too big...just in my fathers Company. While in the US, I did travel out to the UK, I worked on campus which I was allowed to (20 hrs per week..if I remember correctly). This takes me to 2008 where you know the story from there. From 2011 - 2013, I did a law program. Everything was within my visa conditions. I have been granted 2 separate UK visas after I came back in 2013. I was concerned about my US tie (sister) and now reading your post. no marriage and children may be an issue. Lord... |

OmoBendel24: Lolz! Who say na "her" this one be? "Anty", you mix the characters involved up? This one say him/she don dey follow the thread tay-tay ni oh! Na based on that one me take yarn of "if your home work has been done well" oh! Meanwhile I just see from hin first post ever on nairaland say na person wey first stay US from 96 - 2000 sha oh, but that info no follow this hin last post here come! Quite instructive....
The reason I never talk put for the other "sister" wey dey confused about whether she na married or single she need to claim be say no be every time person get power to dey fight both ridiculous posters and all these unseen bad belle people for here (mostly visa terms saboteurs, illegal immigrants already and intending immigrants too). Na God say dem no fit access person oh, many carry dagger to take chook person if to say road dey. I just weighed and noticed that she will understand the implication of her plan by the time it fails, and "MARRIED" gets pinned on her. Na her choice, me no get power! WOW, I just saw this. I read your first response and was grateful for it. However, I really don't understand what you are trying to insinuate here. A while back, I went deeper into my history stating that I went to the US for my 1st degree from 1996 - 2000, came back, decided to get my Masters in the UK in 2008, denied US visa in 2009. Wanted to go to the US because my sister just had twins at 50 years and everyone was so excited for her after years of trying plus all my other siblings were going too. However, I could understand my visa denial....applying from a country you are not a resident of, part time job, etc. Back in Nigeria for 5 years, situation has improved greatly, continue to travel abroad, etc. My problem to my question was how to overcome my sister being a US citizen since from what I have read so far, it can work against you. Oh and I am a Miss... All you guys that respond to others are helpful, but you really do not need to make comments such as this. Your 2nd response was very hurtful and uncalled for. Your 1st response either favorable or unfavorable to my question was fine, we all move on. But then you then went on and began to insinuate things which was not in my character after some goading from another poster. No one pays you to answer questions I know, but words do hurt. JMO |

OmoBendel24: Stronger ties built over the years should help. 2009 is quite some time now.... Whats your job and pay like? Are you married now, kids? What extra ties can you bring to the table? Travel history not looking bad though, and your sister's entrance of the US is legit too. The visas you have had so far, hope they have been used properly in line with their terms and conditions, especially after school? You should be fine sha, taking a hold of your interview ought to be easy for you if your home work has been well done! In 2009, I was in school I had just finished my grad school in the UK and I was on work permit. At that time in the UK, they give you 2 years to work after grad school. Not sure they still do it. I came back to Nigeria in 2013, traveled back every year to the UK for Christmas. I still have a valid UK visa in my passport plus I just returned from France 2 weeks ago from a business trip (sponsored by my Company). So I also have a valid 1 year schengen visa in my passport. I work for a reputable Company. I am in the Human Resources Department (Team Lead, Recruitment). My net salary is N330k, Gross 410K. I am not married, I have no kids. Just a choice I made. |

Hello everyone, good morning.
I have read the whole thread and previous ones and I can say I was able to get quite a lot of my questions answered.
However, there is just one obstacle that keeps bugging me. I want to apply for a US tourist visa. I was denied in 2009 when I was in the UK as full time grad student and I only had a part time job. I could understand then why I was refused a tourist visa.
My sister is a US citizen, she lives there and she got her citizenship as she was the 1st set of people who won the visa lottery when it first started I believe in 1996.
How can I overcome the fact that I have a sister in the US that is a citizen? I just want to go for my annual leave. I go to the UK all the time, I've also been to France.
Any form of advise will be greatly appreciated. |

Hello everyone, I recently applied for a business visa on March 20th for my travel on April 14th. However, I've been reading on this site that it can take longer than 1 month to actually get your visa issued.
Those who recently applied and got their visas issued, please share your wait time period. |

pizonewave: Yes thats what happened when i called. Not unusual at all. I went the next day and it was issued to me. Its not wise for us to leave our passports with 3rd parties for more than 3 weeks without reason.
please go pick up your passport, God will favor you. Amen. I picked it up. I got denied. Reason they gave was insufficient funds. I thought I had a reasonable amount in the bank plus the trip was being sponsored. Oh well, such is life. I still have my 5 years UK visa. Will be going for Christmas. |

I'm so nervous right now. I took the advise of a member on this board and I called the embassy since I had been waiting some June 4th. I spoke with a guy at the embassy and he said at that moment my application had not been processsed but he was going to look at it then. 4 hours later, I get a msg that my passport is ready for pick I. That can't be too good. Has this happened to anyone here? |

pizonewave: Hello Guys, Been ages i heard from Oga Justwise. i Hope he is ok.
For those who have applied for tourist visas through Lagos, and are yet to get a response or feedback on thier application, i would advise you call (01-4612067, 01-4612051) the Consulate and worry them. As their delay can be annoying.
I submitted mine in the first week of June, and had to call them this week to lay a complaint. Thankfully they eventually issued it and i picked it up today. I will do that. My passport has been there with them since June 4th and I still need to get a Namibian visa cause I'm going on 2 country tourist trip and the date is fast approaching. |

So I advise everyone else to make use of Abuja office if you want it early. What was the outcome? I applied on June 4th and still waiting. |
