Tragedy occurred yesterday as Comrade Adefuwa Christopher, the president of the National Association of Science Students (NASS), Olabisi Onabanjo University, died yesterday, in a fatal accident along Ile-Ife road, Osun State, while on his way back from Idanre Hills in Akure, Ondo State, after their excursion visit.

Their bus was said to have collided with a trailer, leaving at least 21 other students injured. Some of his colleagues have already taken to social media, to pay tribute to him.

A Ghanaian man and accomplices, have been arrested by NDLEA officials with Seme Border Command of the agency, intercepting 5,863kg of compressed dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis.



It was gathered that the illicit drug consignments originating from the republic of Ghana through the water ways, were seized in two separate operations at Badagry, Lagos State.



Four suspected drug traffickers including a Ghanaian were also apprehended in connection with the seized drugs while two vehicles used in conveying the drug have been impounded by the Agency.

The estimated value of the drugs is N60m. The suspects are a 38-year-old Ghanaian, Adoboe Nana Shelter as well as two female Nigerians Falilat Sadiq, and Mary Ige Joseph both 39 years old.



A male suspect, Bola Adigun was equally arrested in respect of the second seizure. According to the Agency, the criminal group specialises in smuggling compressed cannabis through the water ways into the country and use yellow commercial bus in inter supply to dealers within Lagos.



They also use ladies who pretend to be legitimate traders conveying their wares to preferred destinations. The Ghanaian who claimed to be a fisherman said in his statement that he illegally imported cannabis into the country because of the anticipated financial gain involved.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has rejected the appointment of his daughter as a member of the board of Federal College of Education, Omoku, Rivers State, giving a 'she doesn't need it' excuse.

Rochas Okorocha disclosed that he was not consulted before his daughter, Uju who is married to Dr. Uzoma Awuka, the son of Nigeria Minister of Education State, exVC of IMSU and former Secretary to Imo State government under Okorocha, Prof. Anthony Anwuka, was appointed as a member of the board, and thus making it look suspicious.

Here's a press statement signed by Sam Onwuemeodo, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor;

"The attention of the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been drawn to the publication listing one of the daughters, Mrs. Uju Rochas Anwuka as a member of the Board of the Federal College of Education (Tech), Omoku.
And it is important to swiftly state, with every sense of concern, that the governor had read about the appointment like every other Nigerian because he was never consulted or briefed on the appointment and that is why the whole thing looks suspicious.
To the governor, the appointment was obviously not done in good faith. Whoever was the brain behind the appointment did so out of unbridled mischief. Otherwise, the person behind the appointment would have had the courtesy of either informing the father or the mother.
The truth of the matter is that the governor’s daughter does not need the appointment. The governor has therefore asked whoever was behind the appointment to withdraw it since the daughter would not have needed the appointment, even if he had not become governor.
Indeed, the governor has the feeling that whoever was behind the appointment did it with something else at the back of his or her mind, otherwise the person would have acted well his or her part by informing him or the mother or even the daughter herself.
The daughter and the entire family reject the appointment. "

It seems the release of the Chibok girls, didn't come with just swapping Boko Haram prisoners, as BBC claims that the Nigerian Government paid the terrorists, 2 million euros and also released 5 senior Boko Haram militants.

Here's BBC's report;

"The details of the deal are sketchy. Our sources don’t want to be named and their version of events is hard to confirm, but they say the men were high-level Boko Haram bomb-makers, and that they were accompanied by two million euros in cash.

Paying a ransom as well as swapping prisoners was a sticking point that almost unravelled the whole deal, one source tells us. President Buhari has not revealed if a ransom was paid

It should have happened sooner, but the president was hesitating about freeing the five – and especially about the money,” says the person with detailed knowledge of the deal.
Persuading him was “very, very difficult. It was the most difficult part of the whole negotiation. He didn’t want to pay any money.

The ransom was two million euros. Boko Haram asked for euros. They chose the suspects and they gave us the list of girls who would be freed.”Governments rarely admit to paying a ransom, and this claim could not be independently verified."

Reaching that point took a lot of time and there were many setbacks, but trust was gradually built on both sides. The Nigerian army’s surge of military success helped strengthen the government’s hand."

Coming after he was arrested by officers of the Lagos State Police, 31-year-old Olaogun Babatunde Amos, who reportedly uses fake statement of account and bank alerts to defraud unsuspecting victims, further revealed that he used these forged documents to take millions of naira from several Microfinance banks in the state.

According to the police, as soon the news about his arrest broke, many of his victims besieged the station alleging that he defrauded them through fake bank statements and alerts.

According to The Sun, Amos, who has no property or investment in his name, told newsmen that he is indebted to the tune of N20m, most of which he got from banks and it has cost him his job as a staff at the Government House, Alausa.

On defrauding banks, he said: "My plan was to collect loans, invest and make money which I will gradually use to service all my debts. It was the money that I got that I used to open a lounge on Awolowo Road in Ikeja.

It was the same method that I used to convince one importer of computers to give me goods worth millions. I took the goods and sold them less than the cost price to mop up cash. I was hoping to make some money somehow, before they discovered that I was worth nothing,” he said.

On how he managed to create bank statements, Amos said that he studied the online statements that banks normally send and discovered that they can be edited. “They used Microsoft excel to create the bank statement. All I did was to edit it and expand the amount of money in the account.

What people normally do is just to check the balance without confirming the content. I only edit the first page and print it out. It was the statement of account that I presented to all the microfinance banks and they granted me loans.

On the bank alerts, I also know how to edit it to look as if it originated from the bank. Give me a computer and I will do the magic for you,” he boasted. He pleaded for more time to pay off his debts insisting that he is not a criminal.

Celebrating their 6th wedding anniversary, Lola Ekugo took to her Instagram page to narrate how her husband Kelechi, stood by her side when she fell seriously ill shortly after they met. The happy lady who disclosed that they met 11 years ago, revealed she was diagnosed of a rare strain of Tuberculosis then.

3 men who reportedly lured a 16-year-old girl in Gwarimpa area of Abuja to attend a modelling and abducting her after she came around on 18/04/2017,, have been arrested. They were arrested after they released the abducted girl, after a ransom of N400k was paid on 20/04/2017.

It was gathered that 24-year-old Edache Echoga, the gang leader and native of APA in benue state was arrested at kubwa area of Abuja. He confessed to the crime and admitted receiving #200, 000 as his share.

His confession also led to the arrest of the 2 other gang members, 26-year-old Festus Ajiboye, an indigene of Ondo state and 21-year-old Ahmed Hassan, an indigene of Kano state. Both were arrested in Lagos state on 23/4/17 after they traveled to spend the share of their ransom.


According to SayNaija, exhibit recovered from the first time kidnappers includes the phone of the victim which was used in the ransom negotiation and jewelries of the victim.
