It has been revealed that an arrested internet fraudster, Abiodun Joseph, who impersonated the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on his Facebook account, duped two Nigerian ladies based in the United States of America of various sums of money.

Joseph who was arrested by officers of the Ogun State Police Command, last Wednesday 19th April at Ilese, uploaded Ooni’s pictures on his Facebook account and in no time, people mostly ladies began to send him requests, many commenting on his good looks. Joseph revealed that many ladies sent requests to him, that they wanted to be his ‘Oloris’ thinking he was genuine, and this was how he was able to defraud some of them.

“But in our chats, I told them that they have to pay some money if they are really interested in being my Oloris. Two of them based in the U.S fell for the scam and sent some money totalling N600,000 to me through money transfer mode" he said.

He went further to disclose that the ladies were really desperate, as some of them sent nude pictures, showing their breasts and private parts. Joseph, however, said one of ladies had demanded that he should buy her a N45m house for her.

But Joseph said he told her that she had to pay N5m out of the amount and he would make up the balance for her. He was still waiting for that N5m last Wednesday before the police swooped on his residence and arrested him.

Reacting to this, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said Joseph had been using his Facebook and Whatsapp accounts to dupe unsuspecting members of the public. Joseph said he opened the Facebook account October last year, purposely to defraud people.

A Nigerian man has taken to Facebook, Mike Anders, to lash out at those who died in Calabar after a high tension wire fell on a football viewing center. According to Mike, those who died paid the price for being unpatriotic, as they choose foreign football over national football.

He further disclosed that it's either you are a patriotic Nigerian ready to uphold her honour and glory, or a saboteur committing felony.

Coming after it was widely reported that prison inmates on death row, including the General Overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a. Rev. King, will soon be executed by the Lagos State Government, Human rights lawyer and dad to Nigerian music star, Falz, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has asked Governor Ambode of Lagos State to commute the death penalty passed on death row inmates in the state to life imprisonment instead of executing them.

In his April 19, 2017 letter, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, disclosed that the planned execution of death row inmates in the state, would violate a subsisting judgment delivered in 2012 by the High Court of Lagos State, which ruled that it was illegal and unconstitutional to execute condemned inmates.

He further reminded the governor that the judgment of the court of the state, had held that to hang or subject death row inmates to firing squad, would lead to the violation of their fundamental right to freedom from torture guaranteed by the constitution.

The judgment was said to have been delivered by Justice Mufutau Olokooba of the Lagos State High Court on June 29, 2012. Falana advised the state government to explore the only available option of commuting the death penalty passed on the inmates to life imprisonment.

Falana stated, “On the basis of the valid and subsisting judgment of the Lagos High Court on the illegality of the execution of the death penalty in Lagos State we urge Your Excellency not to sign a death warrant authorising the killing of any condemned prisoner either by hanging, firing squad or any other means whatsoever.

In the circumstance, Your Excellency may wish to commute the death sentences of all condemned prisoners in Lagos State to life imprisonment forthwith.”

A 45-year-old man, Victor Emmanuel, who has been arrested by officers of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old girl, has asserted that he sees nothing wrong with that.


According to Victor who is a tailor, the little girl he got pregnant is his girlfriend. Victor also alleged, he's already making plans to marry her. He further disclosed that he has already given her parents N20,000, and some drinks as part of introduction and marriage rites.

News Telegraph reported that Victor who is from Imo State, was arrested by detectives attached to the Ajangbadi Police Station,, after the victim’s school alerted them. The police said that the suspect raped the girl and described her as a minor.

Confessing to committing the said crime, Victor said;

“I didn’t rape her! We are in a relationship. We’re even planning to get married. We have been dating for 8 months

now. The girl’s parents know me. Yes, I know she’s pregnant for me.
I have accepted the pregnancy and I’m already taking care of her. I have started the marriage rites. In fact, the girl’s parents had been collecting money from me. I have paid N20,000 to them for introduction and to buy drinks.

They have also asked me to bring N100,000, out of which I have paid N64,000. The school authority said she was too young. The school authority insisted that I should come to the school. When I got to the school, I was arrested.”

However, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), Sergeant Mary Ikumo, said that the victim’s parents claimed not to know or had ever set eyes on Emmanuel, alleging that their daughter, who is just in primary six, was raped by Emmanuel.

“The mother of the victim said she didn’t know the suspect from Adam. The mother said that the girl used to hawk plantain and the suspect was one of her customers. He used to tip the girl N500 every time he buys plantain from her. One day, he pulled her into his shop and raped her” he said.

5 people, including a child have been left dead, after a commercial bus, popularly known as Danfo, caught fire today around 6:44pm at Stadium bridge, around Barracks area of the State.

It was gathered that the dead victims were burnt beyond recognition, and have now been recovered from the bus.

According to the Lagos emergency agency, it also said that five other people were also rescued and rushed to the hospital with severe burns. So sad.

Four gunmen have shot dead the newly sworn in Ukanafun Local Government Area Secretary, Mr. Ime Atakpa (aka Strong). Ime was shot dead on Sunday on his farm, which was in a boys’ quarters in his house in Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State.

His widow, Mrs. Imo Atakpa, who spoke with our correspondent, said she had joined him for the Easter Sunday Church Service at Ukanafun.

She said prior to the church’s service, they had decided to check on some pigs on the farm. She also noted that she and the children were in the house when she heard gunshots.


Imo added that when she tried to enquire where the sound of the shots came from, she saw four masked men walking away.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the deceased was a former chairman of the Ukanafun LGA.


It was gathered that one other person was also shot with Ime.

The other victim was said to be receiving treatment at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

One of the deceased sisters, who did not want to be named, told our correspondent that the four gunmen shot Ime several times in the abdomen and chest.

She added that they waited to confirm that the victim was dead before leaving the scene.

She said, “Ukanafun has been in a crisis since December 2016. Some youths go about with guns in broad daylight. Many village heads and other well-meaning people in the community have been killed by these youths. “Three persons were killed on Saturday in the area.” The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chukwu Ikechukwu, confirmed the incident.

He said the gunmen shot the late council secretary in the stomach, adding that he died on the way to a hospital.

Ikechukwu said, “The man was on his farm in the Ukanafun LGA when four gunmen shot him.” The police spokesman said the police were not aware of the other killings in the community.

Ifeanyi Ezenwa, a Kuje Maximum Prison inmate, Abuja, who also heads a gang that specializes in defrauding their victims, especially businessmen through the use of fake bank alerts, has been accused of masterminding a multi-million Naira fraud from prison. It was gathered that they normally do this on Friday, knowing that banks don't operate on weekends. .

It is alleged that Ezenwa has 17 different fraud cases pending in different courts.

"When I received the alert, it had my previous balance in it and the total money was balanced. I wondered how he was able to get access into my account," a victim said.

According to a Police source, Ezenwa, committed the said crimes with a smart phone smuggled into the Prison, and also connected to the internet. It is alleged that he browses through online retail sites like OLX, JiJi and Jumia, where he connects with people who wants to sell their valuables especially cars, chatting with them via Whatsapp.

Investigations so far has revealed that he collected 15 tractors in Delta, 18 Land Cruiser Prado Jeeps, Hummer buses from Elizade motors, three exotic cars from a car stand in Abuja and 8 trucks from Edo.

Until IRT operatives recently smashed the syndicate, his wife didn’t know he was in prison. When police stormed his home in Abuja to impound stolen cars, the woman told them that there must have been a mistake somewhere.

She told the IRT men that her husband was in Italy and used to call her often with an international number. "He used to send money to his wife from prison; his sister and brothers knew he was in prison, but his wife didn’t," a police source said.

He is alleged to have built several houses and a hotel, from the loot got from his fraudulent activities while in prison.

A shocking report which has gone on social media, has revealed that a woman who gave birth to her first baby last December, after waiting for 18 years, has died.

Facebook user, Bulama Bukar, revealed that the woman died yesterday, less than 5 months after giving birth to a baby girl. He also disclosed that her burial ceremony has been scheduled to take place by 8a.m today.

An assault incident that happened in Ikorodu area of Lagos, has left a Twitter user, @SkusSkus, angry with the Nigerian Police who she referred to as "fucking cunts".

According to the lady, her male friend who went to buy plantain in his neighbourhood, was beaten black and blue by officers of the Nigerian Police, who also used scissors on his hair.

She went further to disclose that the guy's phone was seized, even after they went through his phone and found nothing in it. He was then asked to bring 50K to 'bail' his phone. The lady then asked how Nigerians are supposed to trust the Police with their lives, when they make themselves enemies to citizens of Nigeria.

An NYSC member has been locked up for long in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, for using his employer's N3.5M for MMM and Twinkas.

The 2016 Batch B corper, who hoped to make a quick profit from the Ponzi scheme, was arrested and arraigned for embezzlement by his employers, after operators of the Ponzi schemes failed to return the money, which belonged to the company where he was doing his service.


According to Politics Nigeria, his plight was made public by a colleague, a lawyer, who missed the last community development service (CDS) and took advantage of the group’s WhatsApp platform to explain his absence.

The lawyer, Augustine Ukpo, wrote:

“I was in court representing our Corper member colleague who was arrested and arraigned today before the Agbomalu Magistrate Court involved in N3.5 million embezzlement from his PPA (Place of Primary Assignment).”

Giving an update the next day, corper Ukpo wrote on the same platform:

“I earlier posted you guys that one (of) our Corper colleague(s) was arrested and arraigned yesterday.
He is now in Kirikiri Medium Prison pending the perfection of his bail conditions. While interviewing the corper member, I noticed bruises all over his body – evidence that he was beaten. He was kept in police custody for more than 24 hours. These got me furious as a lawyer.

Even though the corper agreed that he used the money for MMM and Twinkas, his fundamental right should not be compromised. In this vein, I shall be filing a fundamental right action against the employer of the Corper."

Corper Ukpo refused to disclose the name of his client but posted photos showing signs of torture allegedly inflicted on him in a police cell before he was transferred to prison custody.

The 17-year-old Chaminade High School will have his pick of the elite schools — Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University — and must
decide where to enroll by May, 1, 2017. "I’m so grateful that, after all of the work I’ve put in, I’m able to reap the benefits as well — and that all those who have helped and watched me see that hard work has truly paid off," said Okonkwo, who hopes to set a good example for his four younger siblings.

Okonkwo, the son of physicians, aspires to be a neurosurgeon and looked for schools with strong science and medical programs, including those with a combined bachelor’s degree and medical school acceptance. His unweight grade-point average is 98.9.

He also was accepted to Howard University in Washington, D.C.; Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore; Northeast Ohio Medical University’s baccalaureate-medical degree program; Stony Brook University; University of Missouri; Washington University in St. Louis and Wayne State University in Detroit.
