The problem is that ordinary people feel the compounded effect. Telling them that the rate of increase has slowed down means nothing to someone now paying twice—or even three times—for the same plate of food they bought less than two years ago..
........
Exactly..this is the reality.
This is the koko.
Compounding effect should be reported not the usual Y-o-y or monthly reduction as IMF and economics reports them.

Make I Expand the bracket grin

Month --> Month reports of 40%-->35%--35%-->35%->30%-->25%-->20%=
220% Compounded!!!!!❌
100%= doubled
200%= trippled!!
220%= price has more than trippled!
But on the surface, the rates of increase are reducing gradually from 40 to 35 to 30 to 25..
Who ee help? undecided.
Doesn't benefit the masses with stagnant purchasing power.❌

Simply, Nigerians need average deflation rate reports..
rate(Deflation) of
-10%--> -15%--> -5%-->-12%..✅
=-32%
Price of commodities reduced by 32%.
This is what people will feel on the streets..
The Compounded reduced effects✅

Why not? If the fair Value of their assets have changed, why not?

Anyways gains from about $5bn of the holdings were actually realized, cos CBN forced this 0% long NOP policy that forced them to sell.

If GTCO held $1bn valued at 460bn in 2023, and they were forced to sell in February 2024 at 1600 for N 1.6trn in proceeds, why would CBN say they haven't made N1.14trn in gains?

I think what CBN might do is limit how much dividends is paid from such gains or whatever, but i don't see why they would basically ask them to lie by not recognizing the gains.
FG collected 70% of Banks' Forex gains of 2023/2024.

this just shows that greatest reform to succeed in any venture in Nigeria is not the government policy, enabling environment or general overhead support.
But reforming the internal cabals who sometimes publicly admit the value of the reforms but insist internally on old status-quo.

The reforms present themselves as seamless but any businessman in such sector will have to fight some of the reform creators physically..how ironic. undecided

That's why we have good and wonderful policies across sectors but implementation requires fighting custodians and other powers of the so called "great reform".. When you succeed, the custodians are still expected to take all the glory for producing a wonderful reform?

Unfortunately it only takes businessmen with at most relatively low skeletons in their cupboard to fight for the soul of such reforms to succeed.
Otherwise they blackmail or rope you in..

Mining and Ranching should be a hot cake by now despite creating ministry of Livestock and intense Mining focus by FG since the first 2yrs of this administration.

CIT is currently 30%.
They're looking to gradually drop to 27 then 25% in the new tax act.

But there are other levies like the 2% for TETFUND, the 10% WHT charged on already taxed profit(still goes to the same govt) etc.

I think what they're taking away which he previously enjoyed was the pioneer status, where if you build a new plant, you can enjoy up to 7 year tax holiday on products from that plant.

The policy was so generous that it also covers even just new additional lines.

Imagine DANGCEM had 20 million tonnes capacity at Obajana across 4 lines (say 5 million tonnes each).

If lines 3 and 4 are new lines, and the company needs to produce just 12m tonnes, they'll produce 5m from line 4, 5m from line 3 (both of which would be tax exempt) then only 2m tonnes from either line 1 or 2 and pay taxes on just 2m tonnes instead of 12.

He mentioned in his recent press conference that they won't give him that for Itori.
Hmm interesting to know.
OK. Thanks.

"We pay 52% of revenue from our cement business as taxes to government "– Aliko Dangote

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said that the group’s cement company pays 52% of its taxes as revenue, with the government collecting 52 kobo from various taxes out of every N1 it turns around.

This was made known by Dangote during a press briefing at Dangote Refinery, where he stated that the government collects more money than what the company shareholders take as dividends.

Africa’s richest man also noted that the federal government collects 10% withholding tax from the dividends that shareholders are paid, leaving them with a balance of 90%.

Why 52%?
Does he have accruals?

Whether, you like it or not, dangote success cannot be separated from the reform of this government.

Kiss the truth.
Yes. agreed. PIA and other reforms helped. But what followed made their impact to barely scratch a surface.

Dangote had to sample and take photos and videos with journalists to showcase his petrol product himself and also allow independent tests at probably unwanted costs just to prove it has low sulphur content or so.. These accusations of poor quality were coming from the same government that initiated the reforms. Because probably, he refused to drop sth for boyz angry grin.

If these accusations and fight were not enough to cripple his Refinery, I would give the government reforms 100%.
But they were enough to threaten DR very own existence!
Much like Devil giving you wealth and collecting your life before 20yrs of age.
Its like telling me to give more praise to the devil for providing a wealth platform for me to enjoy but I single handedly fought for my life beyond the 20yrs..

Same people that promised 20% stake, faulted, DR extended timeline by 1yr or so, they faulted again and he had to look for another investor. undecided

That some people in government are trying to sabotage him may not directly be linked to the presidency. Have you seen him complain since Ojulari came on board? The people that he is currently fighting, which is visible to everyone are those labour leaders in NUPENG AND DAPMANN and you can see government's efforts in trying to intervene with the agreements that were reached.
NNPCL(Govt company)
regulatory entities of NUPRC, NMPDRA, etc.. Represent the upper echelon and should be role-model, custodians, etc on the PIA act implementation.
They are FG entities.

Just like NGX-company, though listed entity, they try not to violate their own rules and meet their own deadlines and cooperate governance as a fellow listed company. That's how Govt reforms should operate. Top-to-bottom approach.

Once they are compromised, then govt is compromised and PIA act is just a Paper.

fortunately or unfortunately PBAT is the head of Govt(FG).
he will always take a stray bullet.
That's how it is for every leader in every position of leadership.

DR has already succeeded in operations and take off before the new head->Ojulari took over.
DR is only consolidating on his gains after fighting for the soul of the "so called reform" from the upper echelons in the petroleum sector; which is more critical to his business success and take-off.

The fight with lower echelons(NUPENG,etc) is non-Govt. It will be settled more amicably.

Don't mind them. Dangote refinery coming to life is because Tinubu set enabling policies.
If dollar peg was still there and Dangote needed to lobby CBN and wait for weeks before he gets USD to buy crude oil, won't the refinery have collapsed?
Good govt. policies have a way of smoothening out business that you will think success has nothing to do with the government.
We have abundant cocoa before DR..
Since primary and secondary school we've been taught that cocoa is a cash crop, Cashew and groundnut is a cash crop, export commodity.
Why are these raw materials or processed materials easily exportable..
Why are our rates low?
Government policies have been deregulated and incentivized for agriculture since Buhari and now Tinubu's regime. With so many waivers, etc..
If dangote enters into these crops and create processing transformation while fighting the cabals within. You will still give glory to Govt..
Why are other businesses in other sectors not taken advantage to expand and export at scale...
The untold internal nuances below the beautiful public policies holds sway and it's the untold ultimately rule of operation.

cuz the popular mantra if you can't beat them, you join them is REAL.
Its keeping businesses at bay and thus, we can't meet export standard in most of our produce.
Let DIL choose to enter cocoa, groundnut, etc purely for export and you will see our forex inflow rate in Cocoa export alone. Then you will say it's govt policy.

That's why I say DIL is a sovereign Republic inside a republican

So Dangote success story now is Tinubu doing. Thank God social media does not hide. Was it not in this country that when Tinubu started. He started fighting alhaji via proxy.Alhaji was all over media shouting and even accused them of bringing fake products from Malta and accusing fingers on oando.NNpc under kyari wanted to make sure the refinery fails. They whr bent on importing as Tinubu was the petroleum minister. Make una no dey change the narrative abeg. They rushed to claim that government refinery was working..ph refinery. Which was all stage managed to discredit Dangote refinery.
Dangote was even smart and wise enough not to accuse NNPCL and UPRDC directly during the heat of the process.
When they insulted his fuel as fake and not up-to standard, yet he focused on defending himself and his refinery rather than banter insults TO NURPC.
yet today he exports to USA, to Shell, etc. passing through the most stringent scrutiny and standard for export requirements.

Yet they say it's ultimately someones else reform. Not entirely.

DIL is a sovereign republic inside a republic

Don't you think government policies are the reasons why Dangote is able to have significant impact on the economy? I believe the aim of every government should be creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. Even Dangote always acknowledge the influence of the government in making it easy for his businesses to thrive. We can blame them for many things, but deregulation has ensured that there's healthy competition in the market.
Yes Govt policy is a factor. But most are directly non-implementable without a fight with the same govt. So what's the essence.
It makes it look like just paperwork.
Dangote has spoken more words publicly in the past 2yrs than he has for his other businesses.
Cuz he's fighting internal Govt cabals, corrupt distribution chain, outdated status quo that benefits a few, etc
Despite the the govt policy via PIA act.

Our electricity has been deregulated, it's implementation is causing friction as seen with NERC/EEDC/MainPower Vs EERC. Even the natural role model- Ikeja and eko Disco amongst others are watching to learn from the Fiasco..

Or is it the Immigration by the able minister of interior who has tried to transform Visa and passport issuance to be more seamless via online has been fighting racketeering of passport issuance since January 2024; despite issuing the favourable policy and introducing the seamless online platform. The staff still had a way to "manuallize" the process so that "boys must chop". The online marketing and process and the entire policy transformation seem like just propaganda..
2 yrs after issuance in January 2024. This is September 2025.

If he enters these areas of Electricity, mining, ranching, immigration, steel, etc with good govt policy on face value, we will feel the impact
of the actual reform at grassroot.

Navigating The internal nuances(cabals, stagnant status-quo, corruption, etc)are as bigger and cumbersome than just reforms and policy.
He actually does the transformation and policy implementation with his usual slogan:
"I have been fighting all my life".
Govt didn't hand over conducting environment on a platter. They want business men to earn it by fighting same govt off if they can.("unwritten nuances:"wink
That's why I think other Big players are scared to enter some sectors despite all these deregulation policies across sectors; beautiful on paper and you must really be skeleton free.
But not DIL.
That's why DIL is a Republic inside a Republic
