Will the price of the share change when the PO is released?
I don't think so officially.
Just that people will naturally sell their shares once the offers are credited thereby depressing the share price.

Whatever the case, there is no dispute here that Nnaji is a very brilliant professional, comfortable in this Power production field.

But so are many Nigerians abroad that would not steal a dime in order to prove their competency. These same Nigerians become looters or award contracts to themselves which they would not do anywhere else. This is how Nigeria has been going down!

How can we justify competence and fraud without encouraging more fraud you are trying to excuse just because foreigners do it to us?

This was how Nigeria Airways fell apart when Nigerians awarding the contract to British partner demanded kickback higher or more than their British partner? Nnaji had the expertise but wanted both the contract and the job which he would not dare anywhere else.

It boils down to: if our African professors that left their comfort abroad to come and teach at home wanted the same, African countries would still be without African professionals.

If our Independence Activists remained abroad, where would we be today? Their children may be something else like Nepo kids but these Professors and Activists gave us a good start.

Your solution of competency despite fraud is our problem today. Jonathan had no choice but to let him go. He cannot do the same thing he tried under Jonathan in Abia. His success there is more patriotic.
I get you.. That's an ideal situation. In some areas, Nigeria doesn't have competency in large numbers, so the few ones if not paid well will find ways to beat the system....scacity is expensive

If you are to wire your house and in your locality, theres just one electrician good enough to give you standard without harzards in future but he charges high labour fees.. He also teaches locals alongside with the more jobs he gets. Sooner or later he won't be the only local expert.

But once you refuse the high labour charge, he reduces it but smartly puts it in the Bill of quantity so as to still get the job, and once you price it down again or buy it yourself, he steals remnants of what you bought that should be your own property for future repairs or installations.

In all these theis competent but Financial Fraudulent electrician never wrote down nor used substandard material for you. he understands the complexities required and delivered with skills and dexterity with safety standard along side his boys learning under him.

Would you rather take him to to the job or an armature who may not perfectly wire the house to even light up the house or known for substandard and shabby work but lower cost and trustworthy who won't take your equipment and materials after work?

Or you wait and import the Chinese electrician who will do same work as the first competent electrician but at a much higher cost with unnecessarily overbloated expatriate fees who won't teach the locals as well.? Cuz he wants standards to keep being imported into Nigeria from China.

Whatever fraud or wasted you avoid in the first guy, you pay double or more to this so called expatriate. Also due to language and environmental barrier the work will take much longer time and might include variations or inflation on the initial cost of material.

Or you axe out the local competent electrician and stay in darkness forever and ever or you import electrician from outside and so will the rest of your generation be importing electricians when needed

I am not encouraging fraud, I am advocating for localized conpeteces where available..over time, their scarcity will be reduced and this fraud will be reduced as you will now have more local competent electrician in your locality and a higher chance of getting more honest and sincere bargain.
We need to face our reality and also economics as well.
scarcity of any valuable product will always be expensive. If you can afford such expense which could help to reduce the scacity, future cost and monopoly fraud, are you rather encouraging fraud or killing root cause of fraud with one stone, the more projects are undertaken in your community?

On the Prof, I was only speaking hypothetically, there was nothing to point that the Prof. was a criminal or fraud
It was just tendency to be bias just like every other person who has a stake.
So unfortunately, he had to choose.

But when you have conflict of interest, and he chose to step down to avoid the conflict.
Why not award his company one or more of the Discos or Gencos since there isn't conflict of interest at this point?
Why not address this question.
Should he rightly be axed out completely for a Non-criminal offence. In short, no offense at all, just a potential offense that never materialized?

You getting the whole issue. How can u sack one of the best brain you had cos of pressure from pdp cos those that wanted the disco were powerful people I don't need mention them. No politicians thay doesn't have instrest in deals. One of the places Jonathan displaced his weakness and has for him he didn't play his card well and he was eaten by the corrupt bigger fish.
Yeah true..Jonathan unfortunately caved in to PDP and their lots who had no finance to invest in the industry but instead took what was left of the already weak power system.

At least Prof company should have been allowed to bid and gotten a Disco or Genco slot or both since he had already resigned.
No conflict of interest here.
This is where Jonathan should have used his bottom executive powers.

And if his company is prevented from bidding, Jonathan should have made him remain as Minister despite the resignation pressure to spearhead the drafting of procurement process and criteria needed to choose the best hands as good as his company or even better in all the privatization process.

At least, in either case he would have still been in the system. Benefitting us from his expertise.

The "unpatriotic" word used by the other guy was just out of line.

To settle the dispute here what I found out.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan did not publicly “sack” Barth Nnaji in the usual sense — he resigned, but under strong pressure. Here’s what really happened:
🔑 Main reason: Conflict of interest
Nnaji was accused of having links to companies bidding to buy power assets during the privatization of PHCN (Nigeria’s power sector reform).
Channels Television +1
Specifically, companies connected to him were involved in bids for Afam Generation Company and Enugu Distribution Company.
Channels Television
This created a serious conflict of interest, since he was the minister supervising the same privatization process.
⚠️ Presidency reaction
Jonathan reportedly confronted him over this issue and felt it violated his oath of office.
Daily Post
There were also allegations he was fronting or indirectly benefiting from the deals, which worsened the situation.
Kemi Filani
🏛️ Political pressure
The ruling party (PDP at the time) also pushed for his removal, citing irregularities and concerns in the privatization process.
Information Nigeria
🤝 What followed
Facing all this, Nnaji resigned on August 28, 2012, and Jonathan immediately accepted it.
Wikipedia
The move was meant to protect the credibility of the power sector reforms.
🧠 In simple terms:
He wasn’t removed because of poor performance —
👉 It was mainly about conflict of interest during the power sector privatization.
I
I know this... But it doesn't still negate what I said.

Do you think Prof. Nnaji doesn't benefit from the Aba Power projects both rightly and indirectly..
But who cares on a larger scale and pursuing the conflicting details If you can f**king deliver.
Do Abia residents care?
Or the State Govt care?

Do you think Wike didn't or doesn't still benefit from various projects with "conflict of interest" in River state and also in on-going projects in FCT?
Why his good ratings online in both RIVERS and FCT projects despite his shenanigans?

People with expertise, political will, highly motivated as well as influential by being connected to people that matter both national and international stage should be brought into the system one way or another.- they are scarce commodity.

Conflict of interest, taking kick-backs, though bad, but its a little price we can pay for now for the overall benefit to the nation especially to ordinary citizens for their survival until we stabilizes.
The Chinese and Lebanese we invite are even short changing us the worst. But because they deliver, we don't complain... It's fair and square. How much more our own naija blood?

Did you bother you also ask AI if the others who didn't have "conflict of interest" and have not been biased on contract award and not stolen from the privatization process, how they have delivered? Or how the "non- conflict of interest" by the privatized awardees has saved the country's power system and impacted the ordinary citizens positively?

Do you justify removal of a "bad" person because you have proof and allow worst persons cuz you don't have proof? but you know he isn't as good enough as the "bad person".
Even though you know you can tolerate the excesses of the bad person compared to what the "bad" person can deliver.?

Is this not a classic case of, the enemy you know is better than that angel you don't know? What has this angels done so far since 2015?

If he remained a Minister and thus will rightly give-up on his company bidding processes due to conflict of interest,
Why is It that when he resigned as Minister, his company wasnt even awarded any of the Discos or Gencos from the FG or at least multiple of them?.
Especially knowing his competence with his academic and industrial achievement as well as his Leadership in his short sting as Minister?
He lost both Ministerial position and contract to his firm at the same time...

He seem to only get a private job in Abia which he pursued passionately with Vigor and free will despite the so called "conflict of interest". and proved his competence.

Competence, expertise, political will, self motivation and international & local influence are scarce and hard to find in a person in this country.

We shouldn't quickly toss such persons away entirely who tick these boxes for the greater good on a national scale for just mere "conflict of interest".
There should always be ways to still bring them in on board. They are human capital assets we are just treating as liabilities due to a rule of law that in this specialized case, doesn't favour the greater good.
Laws are made for man, not man for the law. Exceptions can be given where necessary.
It's the Spirit of the law that matters.

Is this not unpatriotic guy who left the power ministry because he want s to bid for government power contracts ?
Yes, he's a Prof who's just an "unpatriotic guy". Who wanted to transform our Discos and Gencos with his expertise and international out reach both Academic connections and industrial connections as he has done to Abia state with expansions still going on.
What is more patriotic than that.?

As the "unpatriotic guy" has been removed
What has the "patriotic guys" who took over
achieved/not-stolen so far from the same Govt contracts ? undecided

“Simple” and “iron cast” don’t make it true.
Your whole argument assumes an open strait under threats and coercion is the same as an open strait under deterrence and reduced leverage. And I'm saying it isn’t.

So yes, ships passing before and after can look the same on the surface, while the strategic reality is completely different.

And the “Western lens” line is tired. Some of us can criticise both the US and Iran. But in the case of Iran, some people suddenly become blind to intimidation, hostage politics, and years of using the strait as leverage. That selective outrage is the real bias.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 7:37am On Apr 26
Mankind2024:
@Ppogba, the government appears to be testing the citizens with this solar permit. There is a strong possibility that it is being piloted within Lagos State–owned estates. It may only be a matter of time before it becomes a legislative issue and a formal solar permit requirement is introduced for all homes seeking solar installations in the state.
Remember, you now need a permit before you can drill a borehole in Lagos State. It started as a rumor, but today it is an offense to dig a borehole in Lagos without a permit.
Though the government defended itself saying its only for occupying shared spaces.

Meaning the landlords within the estate are encroaching a space that isn't exclusively theirs and thus violating structural and environmental considerations of the estate design.

Though this your perspective is plausible. Na from clap 👏 dance 💃 dey Start.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38:
ppogba:
Someone as enlightened as you are should also have heard that the solar panel tax is to be imposed on residents in Lagos Government owned housing estates and not state wide. It only makes common sense that if one is affected, all you need do is simply pack out. It is always unfortunate when people that are presumed to be knowledgeable join the bandwagon of misinformation.
I learnt most, if not all of the Estate houses are individual owned, NOT Lagos state owned. They are not tenants but landlords within the estate. So the idea of "pack out" doesn't simply cut it.. Lagos State is probably acting as facility manager of shared resources, amenities and spaces within the estate.

No reasonable tenant will be foolish enough to go as far as mounting huge solar installations in a building that isn't his/hers. Such persons are usually the owners of the apartments within the estate.

Also, it doesn't matter whether it's a tenant or landlord or Lagos State Govt.
The context of his narration centered on gradual spread of such policy across Nigeria which is still a valid perspective.

So try tone down on indirectly calling one unenlightened or unknowledgeable cuz you seem to just indirectly also joined the "bandwagon of misinformation". wink
Let's try correct and move on.

The same favor that Hitech is benefiting now was what Julius Berger benefited from in the 80s and 90s which makes you think they’re a civil engineering giant. Is it right? No, but What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander!
Of course one can't rule out favouritism but it favours all other construction companies one way or another.
But the quality of Julius Berger's works across buildings and roads in different states in Nigeria has stood the test of time and earned it that quality honor by ordinary Nigerians for the most part.
So its raises eyebrow that a novel construction project in Nigeria has no Julius Berger in the mix.
Buy a new name without a famous precedence in Nigeria.

Hope Hi-tech delivers on time and quality. That's the most important thing.
