Eight Condemned Convicts Causes Scare At Yola High Court During Sentences.
No fewer than eight condemned convicts, have caused scare at the premises of state High court 3 Yola, when the presiding judge Justice Abdulazeez Waziri, pronounced death sentence on them. The convicts who were found guilty on nine count charges, were sentenced to death by hanging, over alleged robbery and murder cases, went hostile, raining abusive words on journalists in the court room who covered the event. Reporters from Adamawa Television (ATV) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), (name withheld), were assaulted at the scene by the paired handcuffed convicts, who took advantages of the available pebbles to cause commotion. The convicts descended on the journalists and were rescued by the prison personnel drafted to provide security. These convicted are Aliyu Ardo, Saidu Mijinyawa, Shuaibu Abubakar, and Sani Musa. Others are Kabiru Abdullahi, Saidu Abubakar, Umar Mohammed and Sanusi Ibrahim Emmason . The judge gave 90 days right to appeal on the judgement by the defense council. The State Controller Prison, Umar Audu when contacted on matter said, they have sent a delegation, to apologize with the judge over the sad incident. According to him, the apology became necessary, following the role played by his personnel, in conveying the convicts to the court for the judgement. “The convicts were so rowdy when the death sentenced was passed on them. Umar said additional personnel have already been drafted, to avert future occurrences, while promising to apologize to the NUJ council, to identify with the affected journalists. Meanwhile, the police has paraded 17 armed robbery, kidnapping and unlawful possession of fire armed suspects in the state. The newly posted Commissioner of police Sabo Umar, also paraded Aisha Usman who framed been kidnapped and sending SMS messages demanding huge ransom from her parents by her abductors.

Education / Nigerian Private Varsity Slashes School Fees On Some Programmes.. by chimex38: 7:58pm On Jan 17, 2019
:
The Bingham University, Karu in Nasarawa State, has slashed the fees on some of its programmes by 46 per cent, in the efforts to encourage indigent students, according to its Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Qurix. Qurix, at a pre-convocation press briefing on Thursday, said that the measure by the university owned by the ECWA Church, was among many others aimed at easing access to the university. He said that courses affected by the reduction included first degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, Industrial Physics, Industrial Chemistry and English. According to him, the fees for the courses, which used to be N751,250 per session, have been reviewed to N400,000 to encourage more students to pursue the programmes. Other discounts covered first degrees in Biochemistry and Microbiology, whose fees of N751,250 have been pegged to N600,000 each. The Vice Chancellor, however, said that the special scholarship scheme would commence from the 2018/2019 academic session. On the university’s third combined convocation slated to hold on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, Qurix said that a total of 696 students would receive first degrees, with 33 of them bagging first class. He said that 299 would receive Second Class Upper degrees, while 278, 45 and two would bag Second Class Lower, Third Class, and Pass degrees in the convocation organised for the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 graduating classes. According to him, honourary degrees will be awarded to Prof. Julius Okojie, former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Eyitayo Lambo, former health minister, and Mrs. Ruth Garba, an educationist. “We are honouring Okojie for his efforts to encourage private universities; we are also honouring Lambo for ensuring stability in the health sector even when he is the first non-medical doctor to head the sector. “Throughout Lambo’s tenure as health minister, there was no strike. We find this very amazing,’’ he said. Qurix said that the university recently established three additional faculties – Pharmacy, Law and Health Science – adding that 14, out of the institution’s 19 programmes, had been fully accredited, while two had interim accreditation. According to him, three courses are yet to be visited because they have just been established. “We are working hard to ensure that courses with interim accreditation are fully accredited, while those that have not been accredited are accredited as quickly as possible,’’ he said. He said that the 13-year-old university had established a school of post-graduate studies to encourage more research toward a better Nigeria. According to him, the university is partnering with other universities abroad, for staff and students exchange programmes. “We have a partnership with Sumy State University, Ukraine, John Hopkins University, in the U.S.A, for medical studies, and University of Wolverhampton, for entrepreneurial studies,’’ he disclosed. Qurix thanked the Nasarawa State Government for its constant support to the school. “The Nasarawa State Government has provided a computer centre to us. It is also currently constructing the road to the school. These kind gestures are commendable,’’ he said. He said that the school was also partnering with private developers for the building of hostels, while efforts had reached an advance stage toward establishing a community bank. Qurix expressed confidence in the quality of students being trained in the university, saying that they were receiving “all-round’’ training that would make them assets to society after graduation. The Vice Chancellor said that a radio station, 89.9 FM, had been established to boost information dissemination in the school community and also offer more practical experience for mass communication students. He advised the students to take advantage of the facility to prepare for media practice on graduation

Travel / Nigeria Will Soon Begin Local Production Of E-passports,-Dambazau by chimex38: 7:32pm On Jan 17, 2019
chimex38:
The Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, says Nigeria will soon begin local production of e-passports to conserve foreign exchange. Kenya Dambazau, who said this at an event to mark his three years in office, said producing the passport in the country would also help in job creation and build Nigeria’s capacity in passport production. “Currently, our passports are being produced outside the country; not too long, we will start the production of passports which is under the Private-Public Partnership (PPP). “Within the period under review, the ministry was able to review agreement under PPP, to ensure that the quality of services are improved and the government’s share of revenue is increased.” He said part of the roles the ministry played was ensuring the issuance of Visa-on-Arrival at various international airports which was done to attract and ease movement of genuine investors. The minister said that through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the ministry launched the Harmonised Arrival/Departure Cards which ended the era where international travelers were required to fill multiple cards issued by various agencies at the ports. “The introduction of the cards has created a platform for enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria as specific migration entry and departure encumbrances, as well as cumbersome clearing processes, have been reduced.”(NAN)

Correction. insert unit.
32.18cm² (2 d.p) or 32.2cm² (3s.f) or
32cm²
(since qtn parameters are in whole numbers)
Like I said, @rickyboss333, mine is longer.. but geometric theorems can come in handy when data parameters are scarce...
Also, Approximation varied our answers slightly in qtn 2. (36.87°≈ 37°)
All the same, urs is more efficient. smiley

Forum Games / Re: Transliterations Of "Na Dem Dey Rush Us" by chimex38: 4:28am On Aug 23, 2018
Transliteration Vs Translation
Na them they rush us can mean two things even in the vanacular form it is being used. E.g as a Noun
(1)
Mum: Tobi, why u forget ur school bag?
Tobi: Na them dey rush us for school sey make we go house when I bin dey play ball for field.

(2)..As a Verb.
mum: Tobi, u know sey we no get much customers, so when you get chance from the typing business today, distribute the flyers, mount the billboard and display the barners where them suppose be.. u hear?
Tobi: Yes ma'am.
mum: Why u no do as I tell u for morning?
Tobi: I bin no get time, na customers Oo, na them they rush u now

In view of the above,
Transliteration is simply to find that single English wordings that would fit into this two scenario
Translation will involve to choose any of the two(2) scenarios above and find the most suitable English wordings that perfectly or closely represents each of them.

One will therefore, end up with 1 transliteration and 2 translation.

My Interpretations goes thus:
Transliteration: They are the ones rushing us
Or It is they that rush us

Translation: They are the ones persistently coming at us..

You don't need buy in primary market and sell in secondary market. Primary is for heavy investors 50m and above . but because many people who want to invest in TB may not have such amount, that was why government through CBN make provision for secondary market , to enable people that have below 50m to invest on TB. it's CBN that's handle both primary and secondary market not individual .
OK.. Thanks for clarity..
Just to be clear, so if I buy from secondary market, I can also resell to another secondary buyer abi?

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by chimex38: 12:07pm On Aug 19, 2018
Please house, if I bought TB at 13% and I didn't wait until maturity before selling in the secondary market at 11% .. would I make a profit from the low rate?
Considering I sold about 50 days to maturity for a dull tenor(364) days..

To break it down, i would gain 13%* 1000000=N130,000 as interest..
On selling 50 days to end of tenor, that interest will be reduced by 130,000*50/364=N17,857.14..
Meaning I would be left with=N112,142.857(excluding transaction charges).
My qtn is, where does the extra interest come in by selling at 11% in the secondary market?
Thank you..
Other experts can assist me on this, thank you.

You will make profit but not as much as you will gain when you wait till the maturity period.
Thank you for the replies @jolyment and colourich..
