Education / Re: A Bill That Senior Secondary Teachers Should Take JAMB UTME Each Year, With 75% by chimex38: 9:21am On Mar 29, 2023
DeTribalisedCit:

You're just on and about question, answer, score/ that's too black and white for me. Even the students don't need this 'black and white' in the game of life. I've even had students who thought differently in class; and some of their ideas were greater than I imagined at helping them learn the principles. Imagine if I had used all that time to 'prove' I was on top of my game; will I get these ideas? Will the students be motivated to explore and come to me with their 'new' discoveries?

Experience has taught me that it is not just the 'perfection' of a teacher in giving answers; but in communicating the right values to the student through the subject. That is to say, when you're teaching Maths for example, the real attributes you are teaching to the student are perseverance (keep at it until you get it), creativity (there are many solutions to a problem), rational thinking (something wrong cannot yield right), discipline (understand and keep to the rules no matter what), àmongst others. All of these require patience and intense concentration on the learners to achieve. We can't do this if the focus is on the end product.

So yeah, I think we're putting too much of an emphasis on the score. Anyone can be a very good student; anyone of any age; but I assure you, teachers are built different. Not everyone who scores high is meant to be a teacher. The psychological readiness is much more important; most times, that's all the drive a teacher needs.
Aptly said...
Though it's much difficult to communicate these attributes over time to majority of students if one doesn't know the subject matter..
A saying credited to Einstein:
"No matter how hard , complicated or sophisticated a concept is, if u can't explain it to a 6yrs old understanding, u don't really understand it.. "
You as a teacher need to develop further methodology and these comes with grasping the subject matter

Teaching is a noble profession.
What you need is passion, then it is a very good profession.
Teaching is the only profession which builds people for all other professions.
It is a golden opportunity to mold young minds to become the leaders of tomorrow.
I have been in this profession for the last 6 years, by choice.
I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.
It has been an amazing journey of self discovery, molding young minds who are doing extremely well and excelling in their careers.
If I have to live again, I would come back to this profession by choice.
I am proud of all my students!

That School man could be a version of this movie protagonist and pick methods to retain days activities.

@DUNKA apologies for any delay you might be experiencing as regard account opening.
Kindly note that account opening for any products particularly for VGIF is not tedious and requirements are not different from the usual kyc required in any financial institution as directed by SEC or CBN. It takes 48hrs or less to open a VGIF account.

For the avoidance of doubt kyc documents required to open account are: Passport photo, ID card, Utility bill and your signature.
Please also note that the following documents can be use in place of utility bill: your NIN slip, your signed bank account statement, your tenancy agreement

Finally, kindly contact me if you are having any issues with your account opening.

Education / Re: What Does Outstanding Mean In WAEC Result? by chimex38: 8:25pm On Jul 26, 2019
jamesbonded:
'Outstanding' means your score is TOO HIGH that it is suspicious.

Be honest, you probably cheated in those subjects. If you can afford it, get a private-university or just resit or combine your NECO result.
Yes, he could perform so well that they suspect cheating, but if he is clean(as he sounds) and he has been a high fligher in school, and centre results of others are released.. He definitely getting an A or a B..
Education / Re: What Does Outstanding Mean In WAEC Result? by chimex38: 8:22pm On Jul 26, 2019
ARCHEMEDESME:

everybodys' result was released execpt for mine thats my major worry
That's good news, OT means malpractice is out of it, otherwise other students in the centre will be involved..
It's most definitely a very high score that needs to be thoroughly ascertained..

ARCHEMEDESME:
I did not even cheat at all
I was the only one affected.
The funny thing is that even the worst student had a C6 .I do not just get it,was I cursed or what.I got a good jamb score above 270 and always had perfect scores likd 60/60,96/100 in math and this happened to me
since ur a high flyer in the subject while in school, u sold be positive with will come out well.. ur SC performance + ur centre results were teased showed u ticked all the right boxes..Relax it will be released...
Like I stated earlier, English shldnt be more of a worry, but worry not if you wrote NECO, otherwise, GCE is still rough d the corner..
Don't feel depressed..Lifehas much more challenges than this.. Better still, u could still get admission like I said earlier, depends on your course n Uni..
Keep fingers crossed!! wink

I want to apply for remarking but do you think i can make it

A relation of mine has had a similar experience..
He got outstanding in Mathematics and one other.
But subsequently upon periodic checking in café for about a Month or so, it was released..

Although an outstanding subject could signify a cheat on the subject or other form of dubious discoveries still under review by WAEC,
Outstanding most often than not usually means you did exceptionally well and WAEC needs to investigate further( probably reviewing the scripts again by different examiners) to determine if the marks allocated to you on each qtns are correct, malpractice check, including how you fared in the subject at schl...If everything is fair n square, it's eventually released, usually as ur deserved "A". If u're usually a high flying student in Sec. Schl, no Problem, it's just a matter of time..
This was the case of my relation and both results was released as an A(Maths n one other) ..
Your major concern however shld b your D7 in English Which is unfortunate and otherwise stained this beautiful result...
Then again, it depends on your course of choice n Institution selected, English may not be a Major Requirement.(consult your Jamb Brochure)
