That's too narrow a perspective to me.

Everybody likes to prove himself ''right'', so self justification or self validation is permitted.
Anything to make oneself sound happy or okay is fine.

Lesson: One man's meat is another man's poison! No one should boast!

Even Paul had to personally boast from the Bible when being taunted by the churches.

Took out of the 80% to buy suya and cold beer (need to enjoy life small).

Used the rest to buy Access Bank and Transcorp.

Good day Chimex38, and all.

Please which of those mentioned platforms, plus others, would you consider BEST at trading foreign stocks from here?
I don't do foreign stocks for now. So I don't have idea.
I just know foreign stock integration is one of the main attraction people use 3rd-party apps.

Please what are the pros and cons of using online apps such as Bamboo and Trove, as against the traditional walk-in stockbrokers?
USA and other foreign stocks availability to purchase.

Please why dividend by 8 ? When the bonus was 1 for 7.
What do you suppose it should be?
I also indirectly explained it.

Again:
If it was 1 for 1, what will you divide by? and why?
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 9:42am On May 04
GeeKudi:
Yes. You are right. My calculations ended up making double deductions for the dividend. That can’t be correct.
Yes, not correct.
But naa.. Don't belittle your hardwork and your breakdown process.

You didn't make double deductions for dividend as you claimed.
You rightly used the reference closing price-258 at the end. It correctly avoided the doubled deductions you implied if you had used 251.75

GeeKudi:
215.79

258 - 6.25 = 251.75 ---------> you deduct dividend before making provision for the bonus shares
251.75/7 = 35.96
35.96 + 6.25 = 42.21
258 - 42.21 = 215.79
@ bolded
Dividing by 7 rather than 8.
seem to be the only error you made.
Corrected error
251.75 / 8 = 31.468
31.468 + 6.25. = 37.718.
258 - 37.718= 220.28

A 1 for 1 bonus requires a division by 2 (1+1=2)
Hence, a 1 for 7 bonus therefore should require a division by 8(1+7=8 )

Both you and awesomeJ's methods seem correct. Good for learning. wink

The highlighted is what gives comfortable life. You are a tax payer, the resources of the country is owned by you and I, those resources should serve you and I.

There are people who understands the system and use it to be prosperous but there are also people who don't have that privilege but that does not mean they should not have access to basic things that make them comfortable such as good education, security, water and transportation. How much of that is available to the population without strings attached.

For Nigeria to be a better place, it has to be run like individual companies by both the leaders and the followers. Patriotism was the order of they then, nobody celebrate thief but today, stealing are called embezzlement to reduce the severity of the behavior, they give them chieftancy titles after stealing public funds today.

Today, in my view, we don't have any qualified candidates among the known people looking for the position. They are all crook with the same ideologies.

Lol not today man
lol.. I know.
just pulling your legs.
Welcome.

Dangote cement is good.

They payout a large portion of their earnings.. Up to 90%+ of recent.

The only downside i know of is the low liquidity in the market aka scacity of trades sometimes.

Depending on your quantity, If sth happens and it's on full offer, meaning many people selling, and unfortunately you want to sell within that period it may be difficult to get buyers for your stocks for days or weeks or months.

You can ask those in Geregu and Transpower.. grin

But cement is generally having a positive outlook in the short and long term. So no forecasted downside to create such scenerios unlike the power companies I listed above.

It's good risk worth taking for long-term and dividend payment l.

For the rule of law, procurement contracts and corruption in general to reduce.
We need at least these two policies below to go hand in hand.
1) Appointment of competent hands

2) Whoever is to be appointed into a strategic public office such as Health, Education, his/her self family or relatives must be attending any of those public institutions. primary, secondary or tertiary
The government institutions should consist about 60-70% of high cardre employees-Directors, palm secs, who have loved ones as part of ordinary Nigerians as beneficiaries of the Ministry's impact or failure.

Infact, promotions should be based on it m-how many of one's relations one has to benefit from the impact or failure of one's office grin

Overtime whatever opportunity they will eventually lose as kick backs, diversion, misappropriation, sabotage of program or sabotage of project goals for selfish benefit UNDETECTED, they know they will have to put passion, honesty and sincere enforcement to benefit their wards in such institutions and thus ordinary Nigerians as well.
Overtime , it sticks and corruption is reduced, fairness and rule of law is returned.

It may affect Fundamental human right of freedom of belonging, etc but this exception for public office holders of particular ranks needs to be constitutionalized. administrative, oversight, developmental functions of MDAs, program and project delivery and maintenance will be water-tight and more honest otherwise, they self sabotage themselves via their loved ones.

This will reduce corruption of Public offices being seen as using Govt resources to fund their private affairs.

What excess funds? are the funds not tied to people who bought them already? Did anybody give them free money?
It's probably not hard to deduce.

Late entrants who subscribed to the public offer after TIP has achieved the SEC approved target, rather than refund them, the management can set up another Private placement arrangement of the exact excess amount approved at the AGM and use that to add to equity without returning the balance.

The only issue is, depending on the amount it will expand the outstanding shares far above what the initial PO and RI especially if the excess is substantial.. But if AGM approved it, no issue.
(my thought though)
