It won't work, because of the faction of Obaseki will not support the reconciliation considering the way Obaseki was humiliated, the videos coming from the EPM the rebel group jubilating over Obaseki's disqualification is making things worst.

So Apc won't survive, no legal strategy will stop their defeat.
They just played into the hands of the PDP even before the final whistle.

So my friend any person elected on the plat form of PDP will become the governor of the state.

Edo election 2020: Oshiomhole, APC in fresh legal battle over Obaseki's ouster

- The chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole may face fresh litigation over the disqualification of Obaseki
- Obaseki was disqualified from participating in APC governorship primary on Friday, June 12
- According to the report, the waiver granted one of the party's aspirants, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, by the NWC may trigger legal battle after Obaseki's disqualification

The last may have not been heard about the crisis rocking the Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), after the sacking of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the party's primary. Nigerian Tribune reports that if something urgent is done by the leadership of the party before the primary, APC may also suffer the fate it experienced in Zamfara state. Legit.ng gathered that Governor Obaseki's hope to be re-elected on the platform of APC was dashed on Friday, June 12, when the party's screening committee declared him unfit for the primary.

The newspaper noted that if the Oshiomhole faction of the party in Edo state eventually settles for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as standard-bearer, APC may be a complete loser in the long run. According to the report, the twin problems are the waiver granted Ize-Iyamu to contest the election and the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Oshiomhole to unilaterally fix the direct mode for the primary election as well as constituting all other ad hoc committees for the selection process without a recourse to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party as required by its constitution.

Section 13.4 (xv) of APC was allegedly breached by the NWC in granting Ize-Iyamu a waiver to contest the election after returning to the fold just weeks back. The provision reads: “Subject to the approval of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee may in special circumstances grant a waiver to a person not otherwise qualified under Article 31 of this constitution if in its opinion, such a waiver is in the best interest of the party.

The report also noted that beyond the preference for Ize-Iyamu, the Oshiomhole faction may also not enjoy an easy ride if a favoured replacement is sought for the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to former Governor Lucky Igbinedion. Permutations were reportedly in place to switch to either of Osaro Obazee or former deputy to Oshiomhole as Edo governor, Pius Odubu if emerging realities compel the abandonment of the Ize-Iyamu project.

A chieftain of the party who preferred to remain anonymous said that NEC must ratify whichever primary mode is settled for, despite the provision of the party’s constitution which supposedly empowers the NWC to unilaterally make such a decision. The supposedly supportive provision is section 13.4 (xiv) which lists one of the functions of the NWC to include “organise a primary election for the nomination of its presidential candidates, governorship candidates and candidates for election into national and state assemblies.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that some supporters loyal to Governor Obaseki faulted the party's decision to disqualify the governor.

It was reported that Obaseki's supporters described the governor's ouster as unacceptable and falling short of acceptable moral and legal standards.

Crime / VIDEO: New Waves Of Protests Erupt In Atlanta As Another Black Man Is Killed by chimezieeze98: 11:17am On Jun 14, 2020

Atlanta protesters set a Wendy's on fire after police fatally shot a Black man at the drive-thru

On Saturday night, angry protesters set fire to the Wendy's fast-food restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia, where police fatally shot and killed Rayshard Brooks, the black man who investigators say grabbed an officer's taser and pointed it as he fled from police.
The protesters surrounded the restaurant and later made their way to Interstate 75/85 bringing traffic to a standstill.

Outraged protesters in Atlanta set fire to the Wendy's where police fatally shot 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks one night earlier.

Activists also shut down traffic on a nearby highway in response to the fatal police shooting, and police used tear gas and a flash bang to disperse the crowd, CNN reported.

The unrest on Saturday night came on top of existing tension between police and the Black community in Atlanta. Protests have raged throughout the city — and across the country — for weeks in the wake of the killing of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said at a press conference earlier on Saturday she did not believe Brooks' killing was justified. She called for the officer involved to be fired.

The officer had opened fire on Brooks after a struggle in which Brooks grabbed an officer's Taser. Brooks had been running away when the officer began shooting, but he had pointed the Taser at the officer behind him, according to surveillance footage. It's unclear if Brooks fired the Taser or merely pointed it.

The deadly encounter began after police received a complaint that Brooks was asleep in his car at the drive-thru, according to the George Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI said officers initially conducted a field sobriety test, and tried to arrest Brooks after he failed the test.

But lawyers representing Brooks' family said the GBI's account was false. One of the attorneys, L. Chris Stewart, said witnesses had told him that officers had not conducted a field sobriety test — instead, they appeared to be having a civil conversation with Brooks before they suddenly tried to arrest him.

Stewart also said Brooks had not been blocking the drive-thru line when he was asleep in his car.

Stewart said officers should merely have had a conversation with Brooks if they suspected he had been drinking, and avoided escalating the situation.

"Why was he even under arrest? You want to know how this could have been avoided?" Stewart said. "Talk to him. 'Hey, buddy, you fell asleep in line, you okay? Why don't you pull your car over there and call an Uber.' And then you walk over and then you leave. Why is that so hard for police officers."

Stewart continued: "He wasn't doing anything crazy or violent or harming anyone."

Politics / Kaduna House Of Assembly Members Fight Over Mace After Impeaching Deputy Speaker by chimezieeze98: 5:40pm On Jun 11, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9zt18gNL_A

Some Kaduna lawmakers engaged in a free-for-all fight shortly after impeaching the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and swearing-in a new one.

LIB reported earlier that Mukhtar Isa Hazo, the former deputy speaker of Kaduna state house of assembly was impeached after his colleagues passed a vote of no confidence on him.

The fight ensued after Hon. Liman Dahiru, the lawmaker representing Makera Constituency broke into the floor of the Assembly and seized the mace.

However before he could leave the complex, he was grabbed by the Sergeant at Arm while other members quickly rushed in to retrieve the mace from him. This led to a rowdy session at the assembly, before Dahiru was dragged out.

The Nation reported that the lawmaker who attempted seizing the maze was seen later with a torn cloth outside the Assembly Chamber, expressing his anger over the impeachment of Hazo.

280 ex-terrorists reintegrated to their communities, 603 others to graduate July – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that it has successfully reintegrated 280 ex-Boko Haram terrorists, including 2 Chadians, back into society through their respective national and state authorities.

Director, Defence Media Organisation, Major General John Enenche, who made this known at a media briefing, said Operation Safe Corridor, established in 2016, has admitted a total of 893 ex-Boko Haram fighters. He said a total of 603 undergoing a De-radicalization, Rehabilitation and Re-Integration (DRR) Programme and would be graduating by July.

Gen Enenche, while noting that Deradicalization is the first stage of the programme after a medical screening, including taking of DNA sample, is conducted, listed other processes before admitting the candidates into the training to include psychotherapy, psycho-spiritual counseling, drug abuse intervention, art therapy, sports/recreation and introduction to western education to counter the BHT ideology.

He described the operation as a success story, saying feedbacks from those reintegrated are positive. He specifically pointed to a particular case in Bama, Borno State, where an ex-fighter who learnt to barb as a vocation has successfully empowered 4 locals and is happily married with children.

Gen Enenche used the opportunity to give an update on operation safe corridor.

‘The concept of Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC) is that of a unique non-kinetic operation aimed at giving hope to ex-combatants who willingly give up their arms to embrace peace. It is a Defence Headquarters (DHQ)-led multi-agency humanitarian effort based on De-radicalization, Rehabilitation and Re-Integration (DRR) of ex-combatant Boko Haram members that willingly surrender, which was established in September 2015 and became operational in 2016.

‘Operation SAFE CORRIDOR (OPSC) is guided by among other provisions such as International Humanitarian and Human Rights Laws. It is being administered by 468 staff drawn from 17 organizations including the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), Law Enforcement and Security Agencies, other Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including North East Development Commission (NEDC) as well as locals from Gombe, where the DRR camp is located. The scheme also enjoys widespread collaboration and support of local and international NGOs. The key implementation partners are:

a. United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

b. International Organization for Migration (IOM).

c. United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

d. Department For International Development (DFID).

e. Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD).

f. North-East Regional Initiative (NERI).

‘Deradicalization. Deradicalization is the first stage of the programme after medical screening including the taking of DNA samples is conducted. It covers; psychotherapy, psycho-spiritual counselling, drug abuse intervention, art therapy, sports/recreation and introduction to western education to counter the BHT ideology.

‘Rehabilitation. The rehabilitation package of the programme includes; training in barbing, carpentry, cosmetology, farming, leatherworks, shoemaking, tailoring and welding. They will be issued with starter packs (basic tools) and provided with take-off funds.

‘Reintegration. Reintegration aspect of the DRR programme is the most delicate and longest phase that lasts beyond the camp. It entails a transitional justice initiative involving family linkage with the assistance of IOM and UNICEF among others. Administration of Oath of Allegiance is also conducted at this stage. The panel is headed by a judge of the Federal High Court with members drawn for relevant agencies.

‘Gleaning from the concept and conduct of Operation SAFE CORRIDOR, it is not a process of assembling raw repentant ex-combatants to inject back into the society by the Military. Rather, it is an international best practice for conflict management backed by relevant laws with the concurrence of key stakeholders such as international organizations and MDAs among others.

‘Since its inception in 2016, OPSC has admitted 893 ex-combatants for the Programme out of which 280 including 2 Chadians have been successfully reintegrated back into the society through their respective national and state authorities. Presently, there are 603 of them undergoing the DRR Programme and would be graduating by July 2020. The Operation is a success story as feedbacks from those reintegrated are positive. A particular one in Bama who learnt barbing as a vocation has successfully empowered “locals and is happily married with children.’

George Floyd: Senator Aliero, Emmanuel Bwacha clash over a debate on racial killing

Senator Adamu Aliero representing Kebbi Central Senatorial district on Wednesday frowned at the debate on the killing of the United States black American, George Floyd in what is known globally as racial killing.

The Kebbi lawmaker and a former governor while reacting the motion under order 43, brought before the Senate by the Deputy Minority leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, said the issue was too controversial.

Order 43 of Senate rules affords a lawmaker to express his personal feeling on issues of national importance provided, “it’s not controversial in nature.”

Emmanuel Bwacha representing Taraba South Senatorial district had informed the Chambers on the global protest occasioned by the killing of a black American, George Floyd, advising that Nigerians should learn from the incident.

He faulted the American Police for the dastard act of killing George Floyd due to racial discrimination, noting that Americans ought to have grown beyond that level since they claimed to be champions of the world’s democracy.

He said: “There was a global protest against racism which was ignited by the action of the racist Police in Minneapolis, United States of America.

Bwacha described Nigerian leaders as lacking in morality to criticize the ugly trend in the US, but expressed optimism that the narrative could be changed if Nigerians begin to love each other.

“We lack the moral capacity to accuse the United States of America and am going to say this. Mr. President, we have a lot to learn from the United States of America. Meghan Markle reacts to the murder of George Floyd and other Black victims of police brutality

Meghan Markle reacted to the death of George Floyd as she gave a speech to the graduating students from her former high school.

The Duchess began the conversation by addressing the class of 2020 from Immaculate Heart as they graduate.

She then proceeded to condemn the brutal murder of George Floyd and the murder of other Black people by the police.

?
“What is happening in our country and in our state and in our hometown of LA. I wasn’t sure what I could say to you. I wanted to say the right thing.

I realized the only wrong thing to say is to say nothing because George Floyd’s life mattered and Breonna Taylor’s life mattered and Philando Castile’s life mattered and Tamir Rice’s life mattered - and so did so many other people whose names we know and whose names we do not know.”?

?
She remembered her time at Immaculate Heart saying: “One of my teachers, Ms. Pollia, said to me, ‘always remember to put other’s needs above your own fears.’

That has stuck with me throughout my entire life and I have thought about it more in the last week than ever before. ?

?
“I was 11 or 12 years old and it was the LA Riots, which was also triggered by senseless act of racism,” she said. “I remember the curfew and I remember rushing back home and on that drive home, seeing ash fall from the sky and smelling the smoke and seeing the smoke billow out of building. I remember seeing men in the back of a van just holding guns and rifles.

I remember pulling up the house and seeing the tree, that had always been there, completely charred. And those memories don’t go away.”?

?
“We’re seeing that right now, from the sheriff in Michigan or the police chief in Virginia. We’re seeing people stand in solidarity, we are seeing communities come together and to uplift. You are going to be part of this movement.

With as diverse, vibrant and opened minded as I know the teachings are at Immaculate Heart, I know you know that Black lives matters. You’re going to use your voice in a stronger way than you have ever been able to because most of you are 18 – or you’re turning 18 — so you’re going to vote.

You’re going to have empathy for those who don’t see the world through the same lens that you do. You’re ready. We need you and you’re prepared.”?

Foreign Affairs / Video: Canadian Pm's Reaction On Trump's Actions Towards Protesters by chimezieeze98: 3:08pm On Jun 03, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDi5LS9jGu0

Canadian PM Trudeau was asked to respond to Trump's actions during protests. See how surprisingly long it took him

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has revealed his thoughts towards US President Donald Trump's actions during protests that have gripped the US since the killing of George Floyd last week by a police man who knelt on his neck till he suffocated and died.

During a news conference in front of his Ottawa residence, the PM was asked what he thought of Trump's methods of handling the several protests that have shown the huge racial divide and inequality present in the United States and his lack of words was glaring.

"You've been reluctant to comment about the words and actions of the U.S. president. But we do have now Donald Trump calling for military action against protesters. We saw protesters tear-gassed yesterday to make way for a presidential photo-op. I'd like to ask you what you think about that. And, if you don't want to comment, what message do you think you're sending?" The reporter asked him.

Trudeau, sporting a beard and shaggy hair- skeptical of criticizing Trump who has blasted him in the past over a leaked audio recording where Trudeau alongside other world leaders laughed at Trump,- paused for 21 seconds before responding – as the cameras recorded his awkward silence.

"We all watch in horror and consternation what's going on in the United States," he finally said. "It is a time to pull people together, but it is a time to listen.

"It is a time to learn what injustices continue despite progress over years and decades. But it is a time for us as Canadians to recognize that we too have our challenges," he said.

"That black Canadians and racialized Canadians face discrimination as a lived reality every single day," Trudeau continued. "There is systemic discrimination in Canada, which means our systems treat Canadians of color, Canadians who are racialized, as differently than they do others."

Crime / Video: Kogi State Commissioner Accused Of Rape & Battery Finally Questioned by chimezieeze98: 4:04am On Jun 03, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVZyldsWUpg

Kogi Commissioner that allegedly battered and raped beauty queen is called in for questioning after damning evidence against him was gathered

The Kogi Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Abdulmumuni Danga, who allegedly brutalized and raped a former beauty queen for calling him out on Facebook was called in for questioning. However, there has been pressure from the state governor and others in the political class to pervert justice, Segun Awosanya has said.

Earlier this year, a woman identified as Elizabeth, urged the commissioner on Facebook to assist his sister and family financially.

Danga was offended by the post and he allegedly hired thugs to kidnap Elizabeth from her home with her three-year-old son.

After Elizabeth was released, she shared a video, showing the wounds allegedly inflicted on her by the commissioner. She also claimed that he raped her.

Elizabeth said at the time: "After making the post, they started attacking me on social media and he sent some guys to come and get me.

"On getting to me, they flogged me. He flogged me himself, stripped me naked and made a video of me threatening to post it when next I make any public comment about it.

"They also made me apologize that what I said about him was not true under duress. I had to do so because they were all over me.

"The commissioner also smashed my phone and destroyed it totally, saying that maybe I might have been recording what was happening or I have been recording before getting there."

Nigerians were angered after Elizabeth shared her story and people used their platforms to call for justice.

Activist Segun Awosanya, popularly known as Segalink, took to Twitter to reveal that Hon. Danga was taken into custody on Tuesday, June 2, but was later released after he posted bail.

Segun said "damning evidence" gathered against Hon. Danga led to him being taken into custody.

A video of the commissioner in custody shows him refusing to write a statement. He eventually did when he realized Sega was publicizing it.

"He is refusing to make statement and he is proving he is above the law. I have called the CP in charge of Intelligence to alert him the world is watching," Segalink, who was reporting in real-time, wrote on Twitter.

Sega said Danga's victim has enough evidence to show that she has been victimized by the commissioner.

He wrote: "Elizabeth has gone through Hell. There’s been many threats to her life on the record & the @PoliceNG investigation have all the evidence.

"They made a call to Elizabeth telling her she can be killed by the whim of she refuses to let it go. They dictated several Facebook posts to her to make in order to be free from their crosshairs. The police have this on the record. That man must not be let off the hook."

Sega added that, "It took over two months to get Hon Danga to answer for his crimes at the FHQ due to obstruction from the Kogi State Governor."

He also alleged that other powerful people are behind Hon. Danga

He wrote: "This is unlike any other case but a Rape allegation that is supposed to be a crime against the state. Unfortunately the chief security officer of the state is the one obstructing justice. It’s a game of evidence & we came with a trailer load."

He later added that Hon. Danga has been "released on bail pending the need to invite him again as the investigation proceeds."

He added: "Till now we are unsure the condition of his bail and why he was released despite the damning evidence against him. We also acknowledge the pressure from Kogi Governor and police’s subservience to political push due to the lack of operational independence. We are watching!"

This video shows the parade of the kidnappers and killers of an Imo state resident known as Leo Micah or popularly called Leo Wire. The 21 year old man was earlier in the month, kidnapped in Imo state by men in military uniforms and taken to a bush in Anambra state, where he was killed by using a big stone to hit him on the head, and his decomposing body discovered later.

According to reports, a group of men in military uniforms, claiming to be soldiers, had arrested Leo and accused him of being a “Yahoo boy”.

They forced him into “unidentified cars without plate numbers” and drove him along with his car to Anambra, where they held him hostage and demanded N4million as ransom.

His abductors contacted his younger brother to pay the ransom but he couldn’t afford it as he had just buried their mother – a burial Leo didn’t attend because he had been kidnapped.

When the men didn’t receive the ransom, they emptied Leo’s account and killed him.

Luck however ran our for the kidnappers, for one of the suspects was caught while making plans to sell Leo’s Lexus-350 SUV; he then took the SARS operatives to the bush where Leo’s body was dumped.

Of the men paraded, one is a serving solder who is posted to Makurdi, Benue state, while the second claims to have been dismissed from the army in 2018.

The serving soldier named Ifeanyi Nwinwu who is posted to Benue state explains that he was not aware that the victim was kidnapped, but was only told by the other suspects to escort them on a "job". He also confessed to have partaken in Killing the victim, and was paid 200k from the 800k that was emptied from the victims account.

The second suspect, 28 year old Godwin claimed to have been dismissed from the military in 2018 further explained the method of operation of the criminal gang. He said they are always on the look out for young men who drive flashy cars; they accuse them of being yahoo yahoo guys and arrest them; ; lead them to remote areas and then extort them.

According to Godwin, the Victim was seen in a Vulcanizer shop, and upon going through his phone, confirmed he was a yahoo boy. The victim agreed to part with 800k to gain his freedom; but the serving officer Ifeanyi Nwinwu was scared that the victim might report to the authorites upon regaining his freedom, which would tarnish his image in the military, then convinced the rest of the gang to kill the victim so their crime wont be exposed.

So, after taking the 800k, they drove from Imo state all the way to Anambra to kill him. Took his belongings. It is said in the process of going to sell the the victims car they were caught.
Religion / Pharaoh Doesn't Dictate To God's People How They Worship Their God--pastor by chimezieeze98: 11:40pm On May 21, 2020

Pharaoh doesn't get to dictate to God's people how they worship their God" Baltimore pastor says as he tears letter from local officials banning gatherings of more than 10 people

A pastor in Baltimore, Maryland, tore a cease and desist letter in front his congregation on Wednesday after he was ordered by local officials to stop hosting in-person services during coronavirus lockdowns.

Governor Larry Hogan said last week that places of worship could reopen at 50 percent capacity. However, hundreds of members of Calvary Baptist Church attended a service officiated by Pastor Stacey Shiflett's last Wednesday.

The following day, Baltimore Council Executives decided against it on a local level, and put Pastor Shiflett in violation of Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services' rules.

Also, Baltimore Mayor Jack Young limited religious and spiritual gatherings to just 10 people.

On Tuesday, May 19, Pastor Shiflett announced on social media that he received a threat of a $5,000 fine.

In spite of the threat of a fine, on Wednesday night, May 20, he returned to the church where he tore a cease-and-desist letter from local officials in front of his congregation.

"Pharaoh doesn't get to dictate to God's people how they worship their God," Pastor Shiflett began in the video. "God's that one that defines the perimeters, God's the one that communicates his will and his plan for his church, not Egypt."

He added: "With this cease-and-desist letter in my hand, the Bible says to the New Testament church 'not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is, but so much more as you see the day approaching,' and the closer we get to Jesus coming back, the more church we ought to be having, not less church,' he said at a Wednesday church service, before ripping the piece of paper.

"Now that's God's parameters. So I'm tearing up this cease-and-desist order right here, and I'm telling you right now, we're gonna do it God's way! God tells us how to worship Him, nobody else gets to do that."
Health / VIDEO: Rwanda To Use High-tech Robots In Fight Against COVID-19 by chimezieeze98: 12:13pm On May 21, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Er3hSmgScE

KIGALI, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda on Tuesday said the country will put five high-tech robots into use to fight COVID-19 in its treatment centers.

"The use of robots in fighting against COVID-19 will help doctors and nurses in reducing their contact with COVID-19 patients and minimizing their risk of infection with the deadly virus," said Rwandan health minister Daniel Ngamije in Kanyinya hospital, in the capital city Kigali.

The robots, donated to the health ministry by the United Nations Development Program and the Rwandan Ministry of ICT and Innovation, have the capacity to screen 50 to 150 people per minute, deliver food and medication to patient rooms, capture data and notify officers on duty about detected abnormalities, said Ngamije.

The smart mobile robots also have functions like facial recognition, temperature screening, monitoring patient's status and keep medical records of the patients, he said.

"Because of these capabilities, they will enhance health workers' efficiency and effectiveness in fighting COVID-19 in our country," he said, adding that they would also facilitate the transformation from paper-based to digital patients' files.

"It is exciting to see different institutions join hands to seek solutions to address COVID-19. It is yet another milestone that technology is used to improve healthcare in Rwanda," said the minister.

According to him, the robots have been given Rwandan names: Akazuba (meaning sun in English), Ikizere (meaning hope), Mwiza (meaning beautiful), Ngabo (meaning shield) and Urumuri (meaning light), which will serve as an interface between the doctor and the patient, thereby reducing exposure of health workers to possible infection of the virus.

As of Monday evening, Rwanda has registered 297 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 203 recoveries.
