Romance / Imo Goes Agog As Popular Imo Blogger And Media Infulencer, sets To Marry by chinwe1960: 7:35am On Dec 21, 2018
By Cheta Igbokwe
OWERRI—
After a long and deep sojourn of searching for his missing rib, the popular Imo State Blogger, political essayist, and controversial social commentator, IfeanyiCy Njoku, is set to marry his heartthrob in the traditional way.
The social media influencer first gave hints of the upcoming event through several tweets and posts on his social media handles, with the unusual hashtag, #SeeWhy
’19, which raised so many eyebrows on what he may be rooting for. Everyone wants to know what is in the parcel. Ifeanyicy Njoku has never been known to flash empty parcels in public.
In a recent development, through copies of mails and cards sent out to people and co-corporate bodies, the family of Late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Chikadibia Enyinnaya of Ihitte Otutu Ahiazu Mbaise L.G.A and the family of Late Mr. and Mrs. Bartholomew O. Njoku, of Amazi-Umunakanu Ehime Mbano L.G.A both of Imo State, now invite the general public to the traditional marriage—Igba Nkwu—ceremony of their beloved children, Vivian Onyinyechi Enyinnaya, and Ifeanyi Cyprain Njoku, on Saturday, 5th January, 2019, 12 noon at Afor Ogbe School Field, Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State.
Everyone has been called to celebrate another proof, that love is the universal language we all share. This time, Amazi-Umunakanu is the place where the drums are calling everyone for the dance.
For an event manager like IfeanyiCy hosting his own event, the general public does not need to be reminded of the pomp and pageantry and glamour, which this one-in-a-lifetime event of IfeanyiCy Njoku will constitute. The ceremony which is already making waves around the towns and villages of Imo State and the social media community, will be graced by high profile men and women from all works of life—the media, celebrities, politicians, corporate bodies, and youths, towering down from all the places where IfeanyiCy has delivered his enviable services, for when a wolf steps out, there is always a park of them behind him.
The Abia State Police Commissioner, Chris Okey Ezike, has reiterated his support and assurance of security surveillances on the occasion, and this was confirmed in a congratulatory message he sent to Mr. Njoku: “IfeanyiCy Njoku my son, I am happy for you. I received a text message inviting me to your traditional wedding on the 5th of January at Afor Ogbe School Field, Ahiazu Mbaise. On behalf of Abia State Police Command, be rest assured of our presence and security surveillance…see you on the 5th, you deserve all our solidarity.”
Rib cracking South East Comedians like MCs 2cantalk, Lafingas, MC Egbeigwe, Prince White, MC Tboy, MC Banana Mouth, MC Idahosa, MC Chucks, Yellow Mouth, OMC, have secured their place in the occasion. Laughter has always been the cousin of celebration. The dancing stage will be tightly held by hit makers and sound-gods like Xbusta, F2, Boybreed, Ugames, Leroy, Achara Man, Soma, Shama Melody, Holy Man , Cc2, Young kris, amongst others. Crime / National Secretary Presidential Amnesty Vendors Assaulted By A Soldier. by chinwe1960: 3:13pm On Dec 20, 2018
National secretary presidential amnesty Vendors assaulted by a soldier.

Soldier attached to the special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Prof. Charles Dokubo, yesterday, allegedly assaulted national secretary presidential amnesty vendors

Victim who identified himself as Eferebo Sylvanus stated that the CSO attached to the SA Major Pretel Leghemo infringed on his fundamental human rights by preventing him from gaining access to the SA even after undergoing due protocol.

Eferebo told the press, that Major Pretel Leghemo didn’t stop at that, but also used various metals to inflict pains on him. Which left him with swollen arms.

The victim told newsmen, he sustained injuries that left him hospitalised and traumatised. Going on, Eferebo said he is yet to recover from the shock.

Eferebo alleged that CSO major Pretel Leghemo is deliberately dragging the image of the SA Prof. Charles Dokubo to the mud through unprofessional acts like assault on fellow Niger Deltans and other shameful practises.

“I am lawful and harmless, as the national secretary of the presidential amnesty vendors association in our last meeting at the office in the presence of the CSO, I said, it seems there is an imaginary war with genuine contractors and in particular, the leadership of the association who have the interests of the office and the region at heart” he said.

There are speculations that some officials in the office are not comfortable with the emergence of the new SA to the President on Niger Delta.

Recall that Prof. Charles Dokubo, was recently appointed to the office as SA to the President on Niger Delta.

Politics / Let’s Do It…since They Couldn’t. Youngest Enugu State House Of Assembly Aspirant by chinwe1960: 5:33pm On Dec 18, 2018
My dear good people, our communities have been in the dark for ages. Human Capital, social, economic and infrastructural development have all eluded us. We cannot boast of any good road in the whole of Uzo-Uwani; even as the bad ones available have deteriorated into death traps.
We need to right the wrongs our underperforming leaders. Justice can still be done and our land can still be made great again.
I have made up my mind to join in this race. I need your unflinching supports as I contend with others to represent you in Enugu State House of Assembly in the upcoming election. This decision is borne out of my desire to make us proud of our Local Government when the need presents itself.
To my supporters, friends and well wishers, I have made up my mind to answer the call and to do your biddings. I need your unalloyed support in all aspects of this race because, we all, are in this together. With you and me in this, success is guaranteed.
Since, they have refused to use our money to help us, we are going to relieve them of the assignment because they have shown and displayed lackluster reactions to salvaging the deterioration in Uzo-Uwani. This is our land and together, we will change the narrative. We may not have the financial muscle to challenge anybody, but we have the idea, resolve and enthusiasm to make Uzo-Uwani great again. I may not be able to share huge sums of money to buy your supports, but we can make it happen when we have one mind.
Enugu State House of Assembly, here we come.
Let’s do it…since they couldn’t.

Politics / Give Me More Time, Understand My Intentions, Buhari Pleads With Nigerians by chinwe1960: 7:00pm On Dec 17, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Abuja, pleaded with Nigerians to understand his intentions, give him more time and continue to pray for him.

Buhari said this after a special parade that the guards brigade of the Nigerian army organised in commemoration of his 76th birthday.

The president, whose mood was light, jocularly asked a reporter why he reduced his age.

“Why would you reduce my age by one?’’ the president asked.

He called on Nigerians to continue to pray for him and the country at large, charging them to continue to show more understanding of his administration’s policies aimed at transforming the nation.

“Nigerians should continue to pray for me and understand my intentions and give me time,” he said

He said the government would continue to remind Nigerians of its achievements in the last three and half years.

“We will keep reminding Nigerians about what we have done, how we met the country, what we were able to do from the time we came in to now with the resources available to us,” he said.

The ceremony began with a special rendition that ushered the president into the forecourt where the special parade was mounted by the guards brigade.

This was then followed by a special performance by the silent drill squad of the brigade, which included the formation of words like PMB @ 76

The brigade band also wished the president “Happy Birthday’’ with their musical gadgets.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of birthday cards to the celebrant.

While Mansur Dan-Ali, minister of defence, presented a birthday card on behalf of the country’s armed forces, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, presented on behalf of members of cabinet and Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president, presented a card on behalf of presidential aides

The high point of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake by the president, who was flanked by ministers and some presidential aides.

Those at the event were cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, security chiefs, presidential aides as well as well-wishers.

President Buhari said he was impressed about the birthday parade organised for him by his aides and thanked them for the event.

“Well, I am impressed with it. They have put a lot of time behind it. I thank and appreciate them very much,” he said.

Politics / 2019: Buhari Might Opt For Low-key Campaign by chinwe1960: 2:26pm On Dec 16, 2018
In line with the state of the economy, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) may run a low-profile campaign for 2019 presidential poll.

The delay in inaugurating the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) was last night said to be part of the new style of Buhari.

Also, it was learnt yesterday that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is bidding time for his campaign in the Northeast, Southeast, and the South-South.

Abubakar was yet to secure the buy-in of some stakeholders and leaders in the Southeast and South-South in spite of a recent reconciliation night shuttle to Governor Nyesom Wike.

The Northeast is rated as the stronghold of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Findings by our correspondent revealed that the President is trying to cut campaign cost to prevent ministers and public officers from diverting resources of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to electioneering.

It was gathered that Buhari has banned all those who will campaign for him from approaching MDAs for cash unlike what obtained when a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison Madueke allegedly sourced over N23.9billion for the failed re-election project of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

The President has also directed all security agencies, especially the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to stay away from politics and using scarce resources to fund campaign.

According to investigation, the President is looking at a timeline of one month to the poll for his campaign to save cost.

A source in the presidency said: “For the first time in the history of elections in Nigeria, President Buhari may set a new template with a low-profile campaign strategy. He wants to live by example and put in place a new cost template for campaign. APC will not embark on a jamboree.

“With the state of economy, the President is of the opinion that using huge scarce resources for elections is wasteful. His experience of how PDP blew hard-earned oil revenue and funds meant for arms procurement on campaign made him to opt for a cost effective method.

“He also believes that his achievements in office will speak better for him. This is why he thinks that character and achievements will determine the 2019 poll.

“When the campaign takes shape, Nigerians will know which party is spendthrift or prudent.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “There is a standing instruction for all MDAs and chief executive officers/ directors -general not to divert to or use their allocations for his re-election campaign.

“So, anyone who diverts the funds of his ministry or agency to Buhari’s campaign might need to pay dearly for it.”

As at press time, the list of the members of the Presidential Campaign Council of the party has been finalized.

“The President may release the list after he has laid the budget,” another source added.

Apart from Buhari, most governors have been cautious in deploying state resources to campaign.

A governor said: “With some of our colleagues now in jail and a few more to join them after completing their tenure, most of us are unprepared to take the risk of pumping state resources into election financing.

“What we prefer to do is for each governor to manage his state for his party and mobilize support the party’s presidential candidate.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is not helping the situation with its monitoring of campaign finances and surveillance on banks, including high volume of transactions.

“All these party leaders will not be there tomorrow when you cease to be a governor and you are put in the dock for trial. Caution is now the name of the game.”

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is bidding time for his campaign in the Northeast, Southeast, and the South-South.

Although he ought to have made campaign shuttles to the three zones last week, Atiku deferred it to secure the buy-in of some stakeholders and leaders in the affected areas.

One of the critical stakeholders is Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who Atiku and other PDP stalwarts went to beg penultimate Friday.

Wike had resigned as the South-South Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council until Atiku and PDP leaders made a nocturnal trip to Port Harcourt to persuade the governor to rescind his decision.

A party source, who spoke with our correspondent, said: “Atiku technically suspended his rallies to take stock, put formidable structures in place in the Northeast, Southeast and South-South.

“The truth is that some PDP governors and party leaders in these three zones have still not shown much commitment to our presidential project. But Atiku has done well in carrying everyone along and he tried to heal wounds in the process.”

In his response to The Nation’s enquiry, Paul Ibe of Atiku Media Office, said: “The rallies were only rescheduled. The outstanding three zones of Northeast, Southeast and South-South would be held this coming week.”

He avoided questions on the challenge which made Atiku to alter his schedule by suspending his campaign shuttles to the three zones.

Politics / TENSION In Kogi East As ELDERS Declare For Adc Senatorial Candidate by chinwe1960: 12:10pm On Dec 16, 2018
THE ADOPTION OF THE ADC SENATORIAL ASPIRANT BY KOGI EAST ELDERS AND THE TENSION IN OTHER CAMPS.

At first I wanted to title this a re-rejoinder to a rejoinder published earlier yesterday accusing the Kogi east elders of taking a unilateral position in the endorsement of the ADC senatorial aspirant DR VICTOR ALEWO ADOJI, but it is not our culture in the DVAA campaign organization to attack personality rather we point out the exceptions of our mandate.

Which is what I will do here and which to me gave the DR VICTOR ALEWO ADOJI the several thousand edge over the other aspirants and equally made him the most worthy of this ground breaking endorsement.

The campaign media team led by Abubakar Yusuf who is based in Abuja and has been writing in from Abuja does not really have a good knowledge of what is really happening in Kogi east, and on most occasions their position has always been built on assumptions.

Unlike them the elders have been in the constituency even before the creation of the state and some have been here even before they gave birth to the fathers of this aspirants and members of their campaign team, so I need not to say they endorsement was born out of experience, strong consciousness, careful convictions, critical questioning, observations and verdict.

The endorsement was also born from the larger need to entrust their children’s future into the hands of some one who is reliable, some one who in his little has stood by them, some one who is always available and taking advice from one hut to another.

Elders are people who have seen all, just by seeing the face of an individual they can tell the one that is lying and the one that is not, so I will also add here that the elder’s endorsement is a confirmation that amongst all other aspirants conversing for the kogi east senatorial seat DR VICTOR ALEWO ADOJI is the one with the most sincere aspirations.

And I think that is a big credit for DVAA and the media team.

The same spoke person for the media team was quick to list certain projects attracted by their pay masters, but I will like to call his attention to the fact that the elders that did the endorsement came from all the districts in the constituency and when evaluating their principals profile none of them at any point ever testify of a single project influenced to their area through this senator.

And we are tempted to ask where has he been doing all this projects that the media team are always listing.

I guess it should be in Kaduna, May be that was why the elders there were quick to endorse him.

The elders through this endorsement has made the position of the people of the constituency clear to the world, they have proven that they can not be fooled all the time.

They have also gone a long way to make it obvious that the heavily deteriorated conditions of the constituency calls for a more responsive representation and not a promise and failed leadership which has plunged the constituency into the present situation.

Their idea is to tell the entire constituency that they are also aware of what is presently at stake and will not in any jeopardise the long coming effort by well meaning natives of the constituency to ensure that the right hand is given the Barton to lead the people.

Again they have reinstated the strong fact that they can not be bought or lured in any way into selling the future of their children like their counterparts in diaspora.

Because if they were for sale, the incumbent senator would have paid more than any of the other aspirants, so I wonder why his media team was quick to accuse the elders of being paid to endorse some one else.

The Kogi east elders have also shown their high level of integrity and how resolute they have made up their mind not to compromise a better future for crumbs.

Through this they have triggered in the minds of all the electorates across the constituency that the 2019 elections is about the aspirant and not about the party, its about the sincerity of ambitions and not the magnitude of long notes and rejoinders.

It is about who is really out to uplift the people and place them on the right track and not some one who is out to continue his exploitation of the people or some one who is out to be used as bate to lure the constituency into supporting an already failed government.

The elders endorsement is a prove of the fact that the Kogi east electorates have rising from their slumbers and are willing to join hands and rescue the constituency from the hands of underdevelopment.

To those who DR VICTOR ALEWO ADOJI’s emergence has been a worst nightmare, this endorsement is an additional heart attack and a clear tension in their camps.

But to us in the DVAA camp it is a strong validation of what we stand for, it is a confirmation that we stand on the same side with our fathers, also it has proven to us that the good and well meaning people of Kogi east have heavily resolved not to be spectators in the decision making of the constituency any longer, but will come out and ensure that the people’s mandate is up held.

Through this we have proven to those team medias in diaspora that long notes, rejoinders (as Abubakar Yusuf has found joy in writing) articles and propagandas shared on facebook and what’s app group does not meet the realities on ground and as such can not influence a single vote.

We have proven to them that we might not be flagging and marketing a big party, but we have an aspirant who is a young and a modern version of late Dr Steven Makoji Achema and as such they people have found hope in him.

Let me conclude by going back to the adage that says what an elder see sitting down, even if a child climbs the highest iroko tree he can never see it.

Indeed the Kogi east elders have proven this again.

Politics / APC Postpones Governorship Campaign In Kwara Over Threat by chinwe1960: 2:44am On Dec 14, 2018
The Kwara chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Thursday postponed its plan to launch Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s governorship election campaign over insecurity problem.

The campaign was scheduled to hold in Kosubosu, the headquarters of the Baruten Local Government Area of the state, before the abrupt cancellation.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Kosubosu is a border community with the Republic of Benin which is a journey of more than five hours from Ilorin.

Journalists and party supporters had gathered on Thursday morning for the political journey when a member of the Media Committee, Kayode Oyin-Zubair, conveyed the decision of the party to the media men.

NAN findings revealed that the party postponed the programme due to an alleged plan by some thugs to scuttle the event.

However, Mr Kehinde Musa, a party supporter in Kosubosu, expressed dismay over the postponement of the governorship campaign.

Musa noted that a mammoth crowd had gathered in Kosubosu to receive the APC governorship candidate before the information was relayed to them.

He stated that the massive APC supporters in the area would file out again when next the party decided to meet the people.

Meanwhile, Kwara APC chairman, Bashir Bolarinwa, who expressed regret over the suspension in a statement on Thursday, blamed the postponement on ‘incontrovertible security reports.’

“The manifesto presentation ceremony of the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, which was expected to witness a mammoth attendance today (Thursday) in Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government Area, was regrettably called off due to very strong and incontrovertible security reports.

“As a responsible party, we put the protection of the lives of our teeming party members and indeed enthusiastic supporters who were waiting to line our routes above other considerations.

“We, therefore, use this opportunity to appeal to our party faithful for the inconveniences caused them as many had already gathered at various departure points,” Mr Abdulrazaq said.

He also announced that the party had taken full charge of the campaign structures, processes and activities for the purpose of delivering an effective mobilisation of all Kwarans for the victory of the party.

He said that a new date for the campaign take-off would be announced soon.

Politics / Buhari has rght not to sign new Electoral Bill Into law -sen Ayogu Eze by chinwe1960: 1:03am On Dec 14, 2018
Buhari’s withholding of assent to electoral bill in nation’s interest -Ayogu Eze

All Progressives Congress Enugu State 2019 governorship candidate, Senator Ayogu Eze, says President Muhammadu Buhari’s withholding of assent to the Electoral Bill recently passed by the Senate is in the nation`s interest.

Eze stated this on Thursday in Abuja while speaking with newsmen at the APC National Secretariat, adding that signing the Bill into law would create confusion in the country’s legal system.

He noted that whatever the current Bill sought to achieve had already been addressed in other areas either administratively or legally.

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission for instance, was already using the card reader which was one of the major things the Bill was meant to capture.

The governorship candidate expressed support for President Buhari’s action, adding that he was shocked that some persons expected the law to take effect from the 2019 general elections.

“I am totally in support of President Buhari on his refusal to sign the electoral Bill because signing it into law and keeping it in the locker could create a lot of confusion.

“This is because after every election, there will always be litigations going by the Nigerian standard and you will never know who will go out and pull out a law that is not in operation and then begin to cite it.

“I was surprised that some Nigerians had expected that the law which was passed after the election process had started was going to be applied in the 2019 general elections.

“For avoidance of doubt, nobody would have even expected that the law would have governed the 2019 elections because by the time it was passed, the electoral process was already afoot, “he said.

This, Eze said, was especially so because political parties had already selected their candidates whom had already been identified by INEC.

“You cannot change the rules of the game while it is in progress, you cannot be playing football and in the middle of the game, you stop and change the rules. That is what exactly happened,“ he stressed.

Eze said it would had been an aberration if the Bill was signed into law and hypocritical for anybody to think that the Electoral Act would apply in the 2019 general elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that President Buhari had declined assent to the Bill, saying doing so could create some uncertainty about the applicable legislation to govern the process.

“Any real or apparent change to the rules this close to the election may provide an opportunity for disruption and confusion in respect of which law governs the electoral process,“ Buhari said.

Politics / Electoral Act Bill: There’s Nothing We Can Do If PDP Musters Two-third Members by chinwe1960: 6:47am On Dec 13, 2018
Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that there is nothing he and his colleagues in the All Progressives Congress, APC, can do if Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers muster two-third of members to override President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

Recall that President Buhari had last week declined assent to the bill for the fourth time, giving various reasons.

Gbajabiamila, however, said that APC members in the House will thwart any plan to override President Buhari’s veto to turn the Electoral Act amendment into law.

News Agency of Nigeria. NAN, reports that Gbajabiamila spoke with reporters in Abuja on the matter, adding that the party had more than the required number to stop the process.

He explained that for the house to override the president’s veto, it requires a minimum of two-third majority of its members.

He said the president declined to assent the bill to enable many Nigerians have the opportunity to vote in case of card reader malfunction.

“We have seen instances where the card readers have failed, what Mr. President has done is to protect everybody in Nigeria, many could be disenfranchised and we do not want that.

“If they are able to muster two-third and push it forward, there is nothing we can do but as a party, we are not going to be part of it as it makes no sense to override in the case of an important document,” he said.

The majority leader explained that a fire brigade approach must not be adopted, saying that the amendment was too close to the elections “and that is the reason for the ECOWAS protocol.”

Politics / We Were Not Invited To Peace Accord Meeting -donald Duke, Sowore by chinwe1960: 1:37pm On Dec 12, 2018
More presidential candidates in the 2019 election have claimed they were not invited to the national peace accord meeting on Tuesday.

Donald Duke of Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Omoyele Sowore of Action Alliance said that they received no invitation regarding the programme which held in Abuja.

Responding to enquiries on the matter, Duke said “we did not get any invitation” while Sowore also noted that he was “not invited”.

Apart from the duo, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kingsley Moghalu of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) were also absent.

Ezekwesili and Moghalu did not pick calls and are yet to respond to text messages to determine why they were absent.

Just like Duke and Sowore, Atiku had also said he was not invited to the programme which had President Muhammadu Buhari in attendance.

However, the National Peace Committee, which organised the event, had said invitations were sent to all 73 presidential candidates contesting the 2019 elections.

Abdulsalami Abubakar, chairman of the committee, had said there was no reason to exempt any of the candidates and that “if there is a break down of communications somewhere, I don’t know”.

WHY IS THE PEACE DEAL IMPORTANT?
Abubakar said the objective of the peace deal was for all political parties to “sign to be of goodwill and good behaviour during elections”.

A similar accord was signed in the build-up of the 2015 elections, with the major presidential candidates committing to a peaceful poll and to also accept defeat.

The accord is believed to be a major contributor to the relatively peaceful conduct of the election that year.

Among the commitments at the meeting was: “To forcefully and publicly speak out against provocative utterances a d oppose all acts of electoral violence whether perpetrated by our supporters and/or opponents.”

Politics / My Mission And Vision For Enugu People- Senator Ayogu Eze by chinwe1960: 1:16pm On Dec 12, 2018
MY MISSION AND VISION FOR ENUGU PEOPLE- Senator Ayogu Eze

We are driven by a vision to lift our people to a development pedestal that will make them independent, confident and self-reliant. Our idea is that government can play its catalytic role of rousing a people from inertia and imbuing them with the energy and gravitas to rediscover themselves, their destiny and their mission in life, thereby elevating them to a consciousness where they can rise up and take their future into their own hands.

Our mission in governance will be to make government work for the people in a secure atmosphere where the government will become the true servant of the people. In other words, we want to return power to the people by making them the true drivers of change,
schooled in the art of using the levers of government to engineer a redemptive social transformation.

Government has, over the years, usurped the place of the people as the true owners of the power inherent in the structures of governance. This usurpation has impoverished the people and virtually incapacitated them from deploying their God-given talents and
resources to better their lives and the society at large.

Our people are energetic, very talented and hard working. They are willing to deploy their energy and talent in productive ventures that will better their lives and the society at large.

Government, under us, shall return to its proper role of serving the people as a vehicle to deploy societal resources for the good of the people.

Government shall only provide the enabling environment, policy and infrastructural backbone necessary for the Government and the private sector, working together where necessary, under public private partnership, to unlock the key sectors of the economy that will usher in the desired development that will positively impact the lives of the people.

The positive change shall be permanent and will be people driven without hindrance. Our ultimate goal will be to attract private sector investments into our State. This will create surplus well-paying jobs for our teaming youths, empower our people economically, make Enugu State the hub of talented and skilled workers, and eradicate poverty in the state.

Politics / I Don’t Hate Women – Sanwo-olu by chinwe1960: 7:33am On Dec 12, 2018
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said the fact that he picked a man, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as his running mate does not mean he dislikes women.

Sanwo-Olu said the people of Lagos State should rather be excited to have two bright individuals for “the price of one”.

The APC candidate said this during an interview with Television Continental in Lagos on Tuesday.

He said the positions of Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff to the governor have been reserved for women.

Sanwo-Olu said, “These are very unfair sentiments you’re bringing up. I am someone that is very passionate about women.

“My wife is a very interesting person. I have worked with a whole lot of incredible ladies in the world. What we have now is two strong energies and Lagos deserves this. At the risk of sounding immodest, journalists used to complain that Lagos governors were strong and the deputies are weak.

“So, in this case, we are bringing two governors in one. There are several things our ladies will get from Secretary to the State Government, to Chief of Staff. In my economic team, it is being put in our document that women will get 30 per cent.”

Education / Madonna University: School Fee Rises To N980,000 Per Year by chinwe1960: 8:17pm On Dec 10, 2018
The University Management of Madonna University has announced the new school fees of some faculties. In a letter signed by the University Registra, C.A Ezeh, “the university management in their meeting, resolved to review the school fees of some Faculties, including that of Faculty of Pharamacy.”

“Consequently, the fees schedule for the students admitted in 2015/2016 and the upcoming 2018/2019 set has been fixed as Nine Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira only (N980,000). The effective date of the commencement of this fee regime is 2018/2019 academic session.”

Efforts made by StateReporters to speak with the School Management Board proved abortive. It was gathered that a lot of students broke down in tears when the new fee was announced. One of the students who spoke to StateReporters decried, “Even before the announcement of the new fees, we have been paying heavily. But now, the condition is now so poor. The economy is bad, our parents/guardians are just making efforts to see how can finish these four years course, because its not really easy for them. I am still wondering how they will receive this news, its going to be a big shock on them, I don’t know what my fate will be.”

Consultative Assembly supports Ayogu Eze’s candidacy

The gubernatorial ambition of the governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, Senator Ayogu Eze, received a boost over the weekend as the leadership of Abia, Anambra, Imo, Delta and Ebonyi, AAIDE, Consultative Assembly threw its weight behind the APC governorship candidacy.

The Enugu State Chairman of AAIDE, Benjamin Nwafor said the Assembly, which can boast of over 74 town unions in Enugu State have their valid Permanent Voter Cards.

Nwafor stated that the choice of Senator Ayogu is based on their conviction that the APC candidate has all it takes to move the state forward adding that Senator Eze has proven track records of service to his people.

He stated that the current administration has not lived up to the expectations of people that gave the current administration 100% of their support.

Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of APC, Ben Nwoye thanked the leadership of AAIDE for this initiative and assured them that APC administration under Ayogu Eze will carry them along

He enjoined them to keep hope alive as Senator Ayogu is a leader that will give her citizens “hands up” and not a “hand out” as obtained in the current administration in the state.

In his response, Senator Ayogu Eze maintained that his lifestyle over the years detest this idea of “Non-Indigene”.

According to senator Eze, “I am a detribalized Nigerian and when elected, my policies will affect anyone in Enugu State and they will have every reason to call Enugu home”.

“Everybody is from somewhere, wherever you are, you came from somewhere thus, everyone is the same and equal.

“In the first one year of my administration, Enugu and her environs will have pipe borne water running in their taps.

“We will publish our statement of account every month to ensure absolute transparency in our administration” he said.

He enjoined them to jettison the idea of Non-Indigene and promised them that a minimum of 2 commissioners in his cabinet will come amongst their people.

On the forthcoming Presidential election, Senator Eze charged them on the need for them to organise themselves.

“We must organise ourselves properly and get what is due for our people in the Nigeria project.
“We have never had the opportunity to produce the president of this country like we do now” he concluded.

In their separate remarks, Chris Amah (KSM), Lolo Uzoma Ukah and Nwaogwugwu Eric assured the APC standard bearer that they will work with all their members to deliver him in the polls

Crime / Stop Sealing Up Suspects’ Assets, Falana Tells EFCC by chinwe1960: 7:20am On Dec 10, 2018
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Femi Falana, on Sunday advised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop sealing up assets belonging to suspects of financial crimes.

The lawyer gave the advice in Ikeja at the presentation of ‘Compendium of High-Profile Corruption and Financial Crimes Cases in Nigeria.’

The compendium, which highlights high-profile corruption cases and their implications on the economy was compiled by Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA), a Civil Society Organisation.

Falana said sealing up of properties while cases were still pending in courts did not do the public any good as the assets waste away with no economic value.

The lawyer said it would be good if those assets were put into use by the EFCC, pending the final determination of the cases in which they were linked.

“I do not subscribe to the locking up of assets or properties while a case is still pending in court. I do not think the EFCC or other anti-corruption agencies should be doing that.

“If somebody has stolen money to build a hospital, just like the one on Adeniyi Jones in Ikeja, somebody was alleged to have stolen to build the hospital worth about N2.5billion, which is sealed now.

“For me,you are not doing the public any good by just locking up the place and by putting your inscription: ‘Under Investigation’.

“Why don’t you allow it to function so that the place can benefit the people, because it is already acquired for public purpose.

“And this should go for all buildings too. People are looking for accommodation and you just lock up blocks of flat over cases still pending in court.

“And these cases may be in court for years. And by the time the cases are concluded, the premises you have sealed no longer have their value.

“The EFCC was set up to revive businesses not to liquidate them. You liquidate businesses by just getting some court orders. That to me, is not the way to fight corruption,” he said.

Falana added that the sight of seized vehicles wasting away at EFCC offices was cause for concern, paying the assets could have been put into economic use.

He, however, suggested that the vehicles could be sold by the EFCC to stop decay while the proceeds were kept in an account pending the determination of the cases involving their owners.

“If the case is finally resolved in favour of the suspects, they are given the money, if not, the money is forfeited to government.

“That, I think, is better than allowing these vehicles to waste away while cases are being investigated or still pending in court,” he said.

Falana said the fight against corruption could not be genuinely fought by the government, but by Nigerians themselves.

He therefore urged all stakeholders to be vigilant and play their part to confront the menace of corrruption

Also speaking. Board Chairman of Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON), Mr Muiz Banire, said seizing properties and allowing them to waste away made no economic sense.

Banire, also a SAN, said such properties were better handed to AMCON to manage for the sake of the economy.

“When these assets are seized by anti-cortuption agencies, most of them get destroyed over time without rescue.I think it will be good if those assets are managed by AMCON for the sake of the economy,” he said.

In his speech, Mr Dapo Olorunyomi, Publisher of PremiumTimes (Online news medium), commended HEDA for the compendium, saying it would add value to the war against corruption.

Olorunyomi said corruption was an albatross to development, calling for the concerted efforts of all Nigerians to tackle it.

He commended the EFCC for the strides made in the anti-graft war, but said more was expected from the commission to defeat corruption.

Earlier, Chairman of HEDA, Mr Lanre Suraj, said the group compiled the compendium to provide the needed information to intensify the anti-corruption war.

He said HEDA was deeply concerned about the economic losses to corruption, hence the compendium to stress the need for all stakeholders to share ideas and information with a view to winning the anti-graft war. (NAN)

Politics / Ngige Warns Igbo – ‘you Could Lose 2023 Presidency To South-west If You Don’t by chinwe1960: 7:07am On Dec 10, 2018
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has warned the South-East they could miss out on a chance to produce the president of the country in 2023.

The people of the zone have failed in their bid to have one of their own as the leader of the country since the return of democratic rule in 1999, and Ngige believes they have a chance to grab the post if they play their cards right in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking with reporters in Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday, Ngige said President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection was the South-East’s shortest route to the presidency.

He said, “This man (Buhari) has only one term (four years) to do and go home, and an Igboman will replace him. But if you leave this shortest route and take a gamble, you are on your own.”

He added, “If Igbo refuse to play their cards right in next year’s general elections, the South-West will take away the chance from them.

“They will produce the next president after Buhari, because the zone has shown demonstrable commitment to Buhari’s cause.

“My good friend Babatunde Fashola has blown the whistle. What he said should be a warning signal to the Igbo, because you can’t stop the South-West from producing the next president of the country after supporting Buhari and the APC government.

“That is why I’m telling our people now to come out en masse in next year’s election and vote for Buhari, so that nothing will stop you from succeeding him in 2023.”

He described the vice-presidential slot given to the Igbo by the Peoples Democratic Party as a “mere spare tyre that might be used for over six years”.

According to the minister, it is not true that Buhari hates the Igbo, stressing that the late Dr Chuba Okadigbo, Edwin Ume-Ezeoke and others were close friends with the President.

The minister said the Buhari government had provided infrastructure in the South-East, saying he deserved their support.

He insists the real Buhari is the one ruling the country, dismissing the rumours about a cloned Buhari at Aso Rock.

Ngige said “we should stop listening to all these gutter talks” that one Jubril from Sudan or Chad is the one ruling the country, as the real Buhari is dead.

He said, “I’m talking to you as medical doctor. If you are well treated by your doctor, you will be rejuvenated; that’s the case with Buhari. That is why is bubbling with life. His doctors treated him well.”

The minister added, “I see him regularly. He’s the Buhari who worked as the minister of petroleum; he the Buhari who was the Head of State of this country. He remembers all these.

“I asked our people to come out and vote massively for him in the 2019 general elections. We should stop listening to all these gutter talks. The man in Aso Rock is Buhari and no other person. I see him regularly. He’s the man that employed us as ministers and the one we meet with during FEC meetings.”

Politics / Imo Guber Series: Periscoping Senator Hope Uzodinma (apc) by chinwe1960: 6:09pm On Dec 09, 2018
IMO GUBER SERIES: PERISCOPING SENATOR HOPE UZODINMA (APC)
By Kizito Duru
The Omuma born politician pulled off one of the magics of the century by outsmarting the duo of Gov Okorocha and his Son in-law Uche Nwosu to become the governorship flagbearer of the APC in Imo state. Uzodinma who is the Senator representing Imo West senatorial district, had found favour with the powers that be in the APC, notably the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, who swore not to help Okorocha build a political dynasty in Imo.
HOW HE BECAME A GUBER CANDIDATE
An electoral committee headed by Alhaji Gulak had arrived Owerri on October 1 to conduct the APC governorship primary election in the state, but couldn’t do so owing to their late arrival. Gulak in a press briefing with some journalists in Owerri, at Rockview Hotels, had said that the primary election would be conducted the next day being 2nd October. In a twist of event, Gulak was declared missing in early hours of the D-day and the next news was that he had travelled back to Abuja, and had submitted the result of the primary election that had Sen Hope Uzodinma as the winner, to the national chairman of the APC. When and where did Gulak conduct the primary that produced Sen Uzodinma winner?
Okorocha could have none of that, he ensured that other members of the electoral committee now led by the secretary, Mr Idaghabon, went on with the primary election and at the end Uche Nwosu was pronounced the winner and result submitted in Abuja. The torchlight was now beamed on Adams Oshimole to make a decision and the former governor of Edo state categorically said on Channels TV that the two results submitted by Gulak and Idaghabon were fake and would be discarded by the party. He went on to say that a new electoral committee would be set up and that he did. A new electoral panel led by Gen Agbabiaka was sent to Imo on October 6 to conduct the primary election and they did, the exercise produced Uche Nwosu again the winner.
But Oshiomole had other plans, which was to literally coronate Chief Hope Uzodinma as the party’s governorship candidate and to stop Okorocha from building what he tagged Political Dynasty in Imo State. Oshiomole who had earlier dismissed the Gulak result as fake made a u-turn to accept the result of a primary election that never took place, if truth must be told.
Indeed, not a few believe that Uzodinma became interested in the governorship ticket of APC, not because he wanted to contest, but to use it a a negotiating power against Okorocha who was jostling for the senatorial ticket of the APC. But Okorocha couldn’t trade his senatorial ambition with Uzodinma, hence leaving Uzodinma with no other option than to consider running for the governorship position.
UZODINMA’S STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
ORLU ZONE:
If Imo was Nigeria, Orlu zone would be the North. This is because, they understand how to use their numerical strength, as a huge advantage, to win elections. With twelve Local Government Areas, which is three and six more than Owerri and Okigwe zones respectively, Orlu zone will, to a larger extent, decide who becomes the next governor of Imo State. Hope Uzodinma who has been representing the zone at the Red Chamber since 2011 certainly knows where and when to press the right electoral buttons in the zone. Interestingly there seems to be an unseen force bidding voters in Orlu zone, they vote for their own and this is a huge advantage to the maverick senator.
However, while the Orlu zone factor is an advantage, it can also be said to be a huge disadvantage to Uzodinma’s ambition in 2019. Since the return return of democracy in 1999, the zone has superintended over the affairs of the state more than the other two zones. By the time Okorocha would complete his tenure by May next year, Orlu zone would have had sixteen years in Douglas House out of possible twenty years. Against this backdrop, Okigwe and Owerri zones are more favoured to produce the next governor of the state. The people of Orlu may want to give in to good conscience and sound reasoning by rallying around candidates from Owerri and Okigwe zones. The awareness and campaign to ensure fairness and equity in the state is on the high side. Meanwhile, it is a fight to finish between Uche Nwosu and Hope Uzodinma in Orlu zone which will see votes in the zone splited between, thus giving Araraume and Ihedioha huge advantage.
PAST RECORD
Senator Hope Uzodinma is not without controversies. His ceaseless encounter with the EFCC and the court is inimical to his governorship ambition. His past will be brought to public glare and it may not be a story one with such ambition would want to associate with. Recently he was sued by Chima Akuzie of Isiala Mbano LGA for fraud related issues.
Even the Wikipedia attached this report to Uzodinma:
“In testimony to the Justice Chukwudifu Oputa Commission of inquiry in July 2001 it was alleged that Uzodinma had been involved in attempts to transfer money from the National Maritime Authority to the former military ruler Abdulsalami Abubakar.[6] In 2005 it was alleged that Dere Awosika, a close associate of the first lady Stella Obasanjo, had been involved in award of fraudulent contracts to herself and to Hope Uzodinma, a friend of President Olusegun Obasanjo. Awosika and Uzodinma’s companies were said to each have received mobilization fees of two hundred and fifty million naira. Uzodinma was said to have refunded part of the mobilization fee due to mounting pressure from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC ”
“On 10 February 2009 the EFCC arrested and detained Uzodinma. A public petition to the PDP on 10 December 2010 on behalf of a group claiming to be indigenes of Orlu gave reasons why Uzodinma should not be selected as Senatorial candidate. It said that in 2005 Springbank Plc lodged a complaint with against him with the EFCC for fraudulent diversion and obtaining money under false pretences. The EFCC had filed charges, which had not yet been cleared. It also asserted that his company Transurb Technical Consult Ltd was effectively bankrupt”
THE APC
Imo State House of Assembly speaker, Rt Hon Acho Ihim, two days ago, defected with fifteen members of the APC in the House to Action Alliance(AA), and coming hours after the vocal publicity secretary of Imo state APC, Mr Fcc Onwuasoanya resigned his position, and the same week Okorocha’s son in-law defected to the AA, has shown that the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state is in disarray. Aside the massive defection, Uzodinma would have to face the harsh reality of working with political foes like Gov Okorocha, Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo, Chike Okafor etc. He would also learn to work according to the dictates of the Okorocha imposed Daniel Nwafor led APC executive in the state. It is yet to be seen how the bittered Okorocha would abandon the governorship project of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu to back Uzodinma’s. But be that as it may, a troubled APC is still a force to reckon. It is the government at the centre and will surely rub shoulders with other big political parties in the country.
Again, owing to the administrative ineptitude of Buhari and Okorocha, Imolites may not want to associate with the party come 2019, but the logic is that Uzodinma, not Okorocha, is contesting and some persons may want to go for personality not party. If that happens, it becomes an advantage to Hope Uzodinma. Ultimately, should Buhari win the battle of 2019 against Atiku, the coast will be clearer for Uzodinma. Senator Hope Uzodinma is a guru in boardroom politics and with the support of Adams Oshimole, Buhari may be forced to ensure he does not lose Imo state to the PDP, and Imo may be in to experience that which happened in Osun state.
STRUCTURE
Structure is very vital in politics. Structure is not just having a campaign organization, it is not even having Local Government coordinators, it entails having people who are campaigning for you in every INEC ward and even in every polling booth. This, Hope Uzodinma cannot boast of in the 27 LGAs of the state. He may have them in Orlu zone, but it is not enough if one is serious with the business of becoming the next governor of Imo State. I have been informed by friends closer to Uzodinma’s camp that efforts are on ground to set up a formidable structure for the senator. However, with limited time, the structure will be hurriedly done thus giving room for charlatans, mediocres and men and women of little or no political value in their wards to hijack it. To match the formidablity of the structures of Uche Nwosu, Ihedioha, Araraume etc within this short period is something Hope Uzodinma may not achieve.
FINANCE
A notable politician in Imo State once said “What money cannot do in politics, more money will do it”. Politics all over the world is capital intensive. With this in mind and if Imo governorship election goes down to the highest bidder, Hope Uzodinma will find his feet against Uche Nwosu who is banking on the state treasury. Uzodinma does not find it difficult to spend to get what he wants. In fact, he is renowned for his love for hard currencies. With the Presidency in support of his pursuit, Hope Uzodinma will not have money in short supply to execute his campaign.
GOODWILL.
Aside financial strength, another thing a governorship candidate should have is massive goodwill across board. This factor played hugely to the advantage of Gov Okorocha in 2011 and 2015 general elections. Having the aura of goodwill makes you attractive even to the supporters of your opponents, who can jettison the interest of their party at the eleventh hour just to ensure your victory at the polls. Unfortunately, Uzodinma doesn’t enjoy much goodwill. This is not unconnected to his elitist lifestyle. He hardly attends social or political event in the state. Not a few believe that he feels more comfortable staying in Abuja than Imo State. The only goodwill Uzodinma enjoys is his role in ensuring that Uche Nwosu does not become the flagbearer of the APC in Imo. But such goodwill and action will be forgotten in a few weeks to come

Nsukka stand up for Sen Eze

Sen. Ayogu Eze, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had thousands of APC supporters on their feet, Saturday, in Nsukka. They kept applauding his speech.
As he addressed the zonal rally, applauses were visited on every word he uttered. His message was simple – when elected, he would get Enugu working again, for everyone.
In attendance, among other chieftains, was Sullivan Chime, immediate past Governor of Enugu State. His legacies have been crumbled in less than four years by the worst administration the State has had in its 27 years.
A week ago, Sen. Eze launched his manifesto which captures his vision for the State. He promised to keep to the letter of the manifesto which is erected on fairness to all parts of the State.
The weak, poor, pensioners, workers, women, youth, and segments of the population that have borne the brunt of the poor administration of the past four years, he said, would be the concern of the his administration when elected.
Enugu, Sen. Eze said, will work again when APC is elected.

Politics / 2019: The Last Hope Of Imo State Emerge by chinwe1960: 6:08am On Dec 08, 2018
HON .IKE. C. IBE.

WHY WE SHOULD COME OUT IN MASS FOR RT. HON .IKE. C. IBE.

LET’S GIVE HIM A CHANCE NOW.
COMR UKAWUILU CHINEDU.

Having seen the political degradation of governance in Imo State, one can say that Imo State needs to be liberated. The problem is not who becomes the Governor of the State but who can liberate the state from the hands of terrorist attackers and secrets enemies who pretends to be our good friends.

It is time to say no to career politicians and borrow a leaf from other State, where technocrats becomes Governors. The developmental strides in Anambra State is highly remarkable and should serve as a model to Imo State. Gov. Peter Obi giving credence and cognizance that the manifesto of independent Democrats is (ID) is sound and has the people at heart.

In Imo State we have no other person than Rt hon Ike C.Ibe, the only man who has equipt the hospitals in Imo worth over 12billion with out asking government assistant when others where busy building houses all over the world.he has helped and employed over 5,000. youths through his foundation and also made the headquarter to be here in Imo State giving credence to the fact that he knows where it pains Imolites.

Rt Hon Ike C Ibe who is from Amuzi in obowo Local government area of Imo State having decided to answer the call of millions of Imolites to contest for the seat of the Governor of Imo State, brings a lot of joy and happiness to our heart. This is because he is exactly the kind of leader our dear state needs at this critical juncture. Below are some of the reasons why I believe that Rt hon Ike C Ibe should be Imo State next Governor.

First, as a self-made man coming from a background in the private sector, he brings with him the ability to come up with creative and innovative solutions to the myriad of problems plaguing Imo state. His urge to produce measurable results, his private sector networks and connections and contacts can only go well for the enterprising citizens of our state. He brings in his integrity, innovative ideas, experience in job creation, and industrialization all to the people. He will create conducive conditions for more people to do business, enforce existing laws, and increase our internally generated revenue through his vast ideas. With the constant changes in technologies, processes and new strategies, we need a leader who can lead with foresight and can adapt to the constant changes life brings.

Rt.Ho.Ike.C.Ibe has pedigrees as an international lawyer and proven genuine philanthropist with several records of coperate social responsibilities and possessing personal experiences to shift the political and socio-economic paradigm needed to give Imolites the desired satisfaction. As our people say “ana eji anya mara oka kara aka” It would be too naive to pretend that Ike.Ibe do not possess the proven passion, integrity and resources which are deepening factors in the present circumstances as the adage says “once beaten twice shy” – onye ukwa dagburu nna ya anaghi eji isi ehedi bolu.

Another reason why Rt hon Ike C Ibe deserves the number one job for the state is that his name has not been tainted or in any way linked with corruption. With the high incidence of corruption in the political landscape of Imo State and Nigeria at large.a man who is known to keep to the straight path is exactly the leader we need. Ike C. Ibe does not condone, forgive or make any excuses for the corrupt. He only wants to get the job done and gives equal opportunity to all. During his administration as speaker , he has developed some tried-and-true techniques and methods that check corruption, punish theft, encourage productivity, promote/hire the best hands for the job and keep hypocrites/praise singers at a distance.

As an experienced international lawyer, Chief Ike C.Ibe will bring back our stolen properties and money from the present government create jobs for the multitude of unemployed youths in the state. As a former IMO state house of assembly speaker IKe brought accreditation to different institutions in the state then with his office. aside from the state government, he has a proven track record in his past admistrative years and does not have to make unsubstantiated promises just to win elections.

The Imo liberation movement is focusing on job creation through Agriculture, light industies and tourism as the major economic pillars. Security, ease of doing business, education, healthcare, power supply will serve as the economic enablers. This will be backed up by an intiative known as Imo green book Project. It is a project designed by Rt Hon, Ike C Ibe as about 12 years ago aimed at patronizing local products made by communities and imo citizens.

He is a perfect gentle man as described by many, a man of few words and condor . He has the ethical and moral profile to serve Imo State.

Rt.Hon.Ike C.Ibe is a man who is not given to drug and alcohol abuse.we do not demand for a saint but we must demand for that person that lives a life of moderation and self discipline.

We need a humble person with a modest life style. Modesty and humility are great virtues required for true leadership.Any one who lack them can never provide good leadership.A person that goes around in a long convoy of vehicles with sirens blaring police patrols in front a dub back when he is yet to be a governor will start flying in private jet when you elect him as a governor.

It is time we advocate for technocrats to take over the affairs of the state. Power must have a base, it is either it is in the hands of the political elites or in the hands of the people. The politics of the political elites must be distrupted and a new one be created by the people.

Imolites cannot afford to risk another experiment. With due respect to other candidates, we’ll ask questions and want answers of who your class mates are, how you started your family background did you know what it takes to be feeding ones a day.

Let us therefore not deceive ourselves that any other feasible political platform exists outside independent Democrats (ID). Nobody can therefore underestimate the influence of (ID)and the people in the emerging trend of politics in Igboland. Certainly,ID is the only movement that can extract massive and unalloyed support and voting come 2019.

Independent Democrats (ID) is poised to win this election and defend her votes and by the grace of God we will win both in house of Assembly and House representative, thus we will recreate the old imo that was once the envy of others.

IMO must be liberated

Utomi to Osinbajo: Delta APC’ll consume your pastoral, professorial dignity

UGHELLI – GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Chief Cyril Ogodo led faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Prof Patrick Utomi, has described the recent peace meetings convened by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to find peace in the state chapter as a wasted exercise.

The comment by Utomi is coming just as one of the leaders of the party in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, warned that individuals such as Utomi and Hon Victor Ochei, should key into the direction of the discussions, if the party will be able to make progress. Emerhor while speaking with Vanguard yesterday, said: “The efforts of the Vice President are geared towards uniting the party in Delta as a necessary step towards the common objective of leaders of both sides to deliver President Buhari and APC in Delta State in the 2019 elections. “The discussions/negotiations centred on the recognition that, outside court judgement/order, the issues of candidates have been overtaken by time and/or INEC timetable. “The attempt therefore is to find ways to compensate the side that may lose out on issues of candidates with appointments and share in government to engender some sense of a win win.” Utomi on his part, said: “You may have heard rumours about meetings with the Vice President. As I said clearly to the VP in the presence of all, the exercise was a waste of time. It was coming too late and wrongly motivated. “As a friend of many years, I suggested to him that he was in danger of risking everything as a Pastor, Professor of Law and Civil Rights champion by allowing himself to be dragged into a collaboration in evil. “The matters remain simple . What Jones Erue and company did in Asaba on September 30 violates the Rule of Law and our country’s constitution. We are in court following due process to set that aside. “Secondly, the body of the Party representing the majority of APC members led by the Cyril Ogodo Executive Committee which was properly sworn in by the National Chairman of the Party at the time, Chief John Oyegun nominated me Candidate. “Following due process in court we expect to get Justice and claim the seat.”

Politics / Failure To Re-elect Ekweremadu Will Be A Setback To Igbos, says Ohanaeze by chinwe1960: 3:31am On Dec 07, 2018
GIVEN his legislative experience, network and contributions to the development of Enugu West Senatorial Zone, a chieftain of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Everest Ozonweke has said the people of Enugu West cannot afford not to re-elect Deputy Senate President, Professor Ike Ekweremadu for a fifth term.

In a chat with newsmen in Lagos, Ozonweke, who is the general secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos and the convener of Ike Oha Support Team, Lagos, said “it will be a political suicide to replace Ekweremadu with a greenhorn in the upper chamber of the national assembly.” Ekweremadu is re-contesting on the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. One of those challenging Ekweremadu for the seat is an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Juliet Ibekaku Nwagwu, who beat the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, for the All progressives Congress, APC, ticket. In a chat with news men in Lagos after the Enugu State day celebration at the National Stadium, Lagos Chief Ozonweke said the achievements of Ike Ekweremadu in Enugu west senatorial zone and the whole State were great legacies to behold. “Ike Oha has touched the lives of our people in a special way that has strengthened the social trust and confidence reposed in him by the people of Enugu west senatorial zone. We the zonal stakeholders in Lagos have resolved to work as the project gate keepers and good ambassadors for our people at home. If our quest for a restructured Nigeria must come to pass there are mechanisms we must put in place to propel such aspirations to conclusion in line with the expectations of Nigerians,” he said.
