Politics / Toby Okechukwu:an Embodiment Of Humility And Epitome Of Quality Representative by chinwe1960: 9:24pm On Feb 11, 2019
Hon. Toby Okechukwu: An Embodiment of Humility and Epitome of Quality Representative.

John Adams once said, “If your action inspires other to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”.

Hon. Toby Okechukwu has demonstrated that action and ideas are not enough. No matter how right, they must be chiseled into law and institutions. One who possess highest standard of integrity can be considered as trustworthy because he/she never backs off from their inner values no matter how badly they are tempted. Indeed Hon. Toby Okechukwu has proved himself as a trustworthy and humble leader.

An honest politician develop character and build credibility and trust which are rock foundation to evoke confidence and respect from those around him, and among political leaders, teammates and Co-workers. They can only be earned. Trust and respects comes from one’s actions and thoughts towards the public.

Hon. Toby Okechukwu’s humility is a great source of pride and next to none .

Having been in the green chamber for sometimes, Representing Oji River/Aninri/Awgu federal Constituency, his experience and philanthropic nature qualifies him for automatic ticket, hence no major opposition to his reelection bide as the entire people in the three local government areas that made up his constituency, have drum support for his reelection. He single handedly taking the bill of more than 400 students, every year both their school fees and boarding fees at Science Equipment Development Institute, Akwuke, Enugu state , empowering them to be independent . A feat which no one in his position have ever achieved in the past.

Hon Toby is offering free medical treatments and carrying out major surgery to minimise premature death and prolong life Span of the people he is representing . What a thoughtful and sympathetic person and God’s gift to Enugu West .
Thank you so much my Honorable for being a model of good and quality representation.

Politics / Breaking: Commonwealth Observers Arrive Nigeria, Meet INEC Officials by chinwe1960: 4:37pm On Feb 11, 2019
With few days to the general elections, members of the Commonwealth Observers team on Monday, February, 11, arrived Nigeria and headed to Abuja where they met the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.
Although no official statement has been made by the electoral umpire, Vanguard reports that the Commonwealth observers, upon arriving Nigeria, were ushered to the INEC’s conference centre where they met other officials of the commission. StateReporters.com, however, gathers that the major focus of the meeting would border on how the February general elections would be credibly conducted.

Commonwealth observers arrive Nigeria and meet INEC officials ahead of general elections.

There would be a big responsibility on the electoral commission and observers to steer the middle cause and maintain neutrality during the election as questions keep growing over integrity of INEC to conduct credible elections for the country.

It would be recalled that the governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, recently vowed that attempt to give Nigeria the “Venezuela option” will be vehemently rejected.
The Kaduna governor was also quoted saying foreign observers, who interfere in the election, would be sent back in “body bags.”

FEB. 16 ELECTION: IBETO PROMISES N50M CASH AWARD TO NNEWI VOTERS

The chairman of Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto, has promised to dole out cash sum of five million naira to each of the ten wards in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, that is able to deliver at least, 70% of its registered votes.

Ibeto, who addressed a large gathering of Nnewi stakeholders, leaders of thought and the voting populace at the Anaedo Peoples Club Hall in the industrial city, on Sunday, February 10, said that Nnewi has a total of ten political wards, with about 150,000 voting strength; and promised that each of the ten wards will receive the sum of five million as long as it records voter turn out as much as 70%.

“Mobilizing our people to vote during elections has continued to be our problem. We have high voting strength based on available data, but during elections, our people do not come out to vote.

“Nnewi has great stake in the coming election, because, one of our sons is going back to the House of Representatives; and the other is going to the senate. Our votes will give them edge over other contestants; but that is when we turn out enmasse to vote and support them”, Ibeto, who was also the convener of the meeting said.

He went further to suggest that Nnewi should recruit special task force for the purpose of the election, to ensure that on February 16, no shop will be opened anywhere in Nnewi; and that youths will not have access to any football field in the community; adding that people should also be sensitized and encouraged to come out and vote.

Earlier, the chairman of the organizing committee for the event, Prince Jude Osumuoh, who is also the President General of Ndiakwu Otolo Nnewi Community, praised Chief Cletus Ibeto for his magnanimity in convening the meeting. Politics / Enugu West:25 Parties Adopt APC Candidate Vows To Stop Ekweremadu-statereporters by chinwe1960: 2:53pm On Feb 09, 2019
No fewer than 25 political parties in Enugu State have adopted the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Enugu West District, Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, as consensus candidate for next Saturday’s poll.

This came as a pressure group, the Udi North Patriotic Front (UNPF), said it would only vote for credible candidates irrespective of party affiliations.

Chairmen of the parties, mainly from the zone, appealed to the people of the area to embrace equity, natural justice, good conscience and gender sensitivity by voting the APC candidate for the sake of peace, unity and even development in Enugu West.

“We reiterate our stand on the zoning principle, which would ensure that all the local government areas in the zone produce a senator, adding that nobody should arrogate to himself the monopoly of knowledge in whatever guise or form,” they stated.

They said the argument that the incumbent senator of the zone, Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, should continue in office because of his experience was “lame, an impotent postulate that is selfish, self-serving and insensitive to the yearnings and aspiration of the good people of Enugu West, as it amounts to asking him to remain in the senate for life.”

Those who signed the communiqué obtained in Enugu, yesterday, include Hon. Adonys Igwe; Advanced Nigerian Democracy Party (ANDP); Affam Ani, Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), Christopher Onyia, Liberal Party of Nigeria (LPN); Chris Onyeodizielu; Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Michael Ndubuisi, United Party (UP).

Politics / Those Saying Buhari And My Son Haven’t Done Anything Live In Another World by chinwe1960: 9:18am On Feb 08, 2019
Olubisi Osinbajo, mother of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, says the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration deserves another term.

She said this on Thursday when her son paid her a visit during the vice-president’s house-to-house campaign in the Somolu area of Lagos state.

The 85-year-old said the successes record by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government could not be achieved by previous governments in 16 years.

She also thanked God for sparing her son’s life following the helicopter crash in Kogi on Saturday.

“They have tried. If anybody says they have not done anything, then you can say that man or woman is not in this world, such is in another world because they have tried,” Osinbajo said.

“What they (Buhari/Osinbajo) did in three years, people couldn’t do it for 16 years. We are praising God and we shall praise God after the elections.

“I am overwhelmed with this visit and I must thank God for everything that He is doing in my life. Do you know that on Thursday I was busy thanking God and praising God. I didn’t know what was going to happen on Saturday.

“I have been praising God and I told my people

Politics / There Will Be No Elections In Rivers State Without APC – Princewil by chinwe1960: 3:47pm On Feb 07, 2019
There will be no elections in Rivers state without APC – Princewill

…..calls for postponement

Following on the heels of back to back stays of execution recently granted the APC in Rivers state and the wild jubilations that erupted across the state, the APC Director of Strategic Communications for the Tonye Cole Campaign, Prince Tonye T.J.T Princewill has laughed at the possibility of elections holding in Rivers state without the APC and its candidates, saying that it would be an exercise in futility.

He made the assertion in an interactive session with journalists where he was reacting to INEC’s suggestion that APC is not yet on the ballot. “Of course we are not yet on the ballot, it’s a process. INEC by now has received the first order and in another day or so, will receive the second one. Then their lawyers will advise them and at a meeting of the powers that be, a decision will be taken. That decision will be to obey the law. We expect nothing less. If they don’t, then it will be lawful to be lawless in a lawless society. There will be no elections in Rivers state.”

The Prince went on to appeal to Rivers people for calm, saying “We knew Wike had penetrated the judiciary, every day the signs are revealed. We know he has also penetrated some of our security agencies, but we do not want to believe he has penetrated our electoral body at the highest levels. We are soon about to find out. Let us be patient. These things take time. Our money, that he is using, will be traced to its last hiding place when he leaves office. We know a lot about who he is working with. Money leaves a trace. And in this government, corruption will always come with consequences.”

He went on to describe the PDP as an “accident waiting to happen” and advised all those with good conscience still sitting inside it, to jump for safety before the inevitable crash or hold themselves to blame. “Wike is a learner driver. He has no business driving the vehicle of Rivers state and everyone knows it. Even he knows it. He can use money to win awards, ascribe bogus titles to himself, get biased media coverage, even delay justice, but he can’t use our money to bribe God. Judgement is coming for him and it is coming soon.”

Reacting to questions on the schedule of campaigns going forward and the paucity of time available, Prince Tonye noted that while being on the ballot was necessary, allowing the APC candidates time to go about their campaigns, as had been denied them; was only fair because their campaigns were gaining momentum before legal gymnastics stepped in.

“PDP should be very ashamed that after four good years, their candidate could not go from ward to ward to tell them what he has done. Instead he has stumbled from LGA to LGA headquarters with more people in his entourage than indigenes to receive him, only to drop sound bites and share two-two thousand Naira to willing takers.

His mate (even though we are yet to ascertain Nyesom Wike’s actual age), his mate and our candidate Tonye Cole, has gone from ward to ward in every LGA and had done 236 wards out of 319 before a judge, Magnus and Wike stopped him using the law. Magnus is not our focus. He is our lost brother whom we wish well. His room is there, if he returns. Our focus is Wike and nothing will distract us from demystifying his perceived grassroots’ appeal, his supposed strong man status and his recent Mungo Park like discovery of Spirituality.

Tonye Cole and others must be allowed to finish their campaigns. Anything short of that cannot be just and we will contest it. INEC should get ready for the Presidential elections, but State House of Assembly, National Assembly and the Governorship elections must be a separate exercise set aside for a special date.”

“All eyes are now on INEC as the fate of Rivers state now hangs in the balance. Will Wike be given a free ride back into Government house or will the never say die attitude of Tonye Cole emerge from the ashes of court judgements?,” Princewill asked and that very soon, all will be revealed.

Politics / A Mock Presidential Speech By A Buharist by chinwe1960: 11:44am On Feb 06, 2019
*A mock presidential speech by a Buharist*.

Fellow Nigerians,
It is my pleasure to address you today. First, I would like to thank you for your support of this government in the last four years. Equally, I want to also thank you for the nation wide relatively peaceful campaign activities so far.
We will ensure that not only do we have credible elections, our elections must be conducted in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect for divergent political affiliations.
I want to use this opportunity to address you on 2 main subjects, our economy and the next level.

ECONOMY:
We expect a challenging global economy ahead of us. Oil prices continue to be fragile and unstable. With our debt servicing at 50% of income, we have reached the safe limits of our borrowing capacity. Also, the new minimum wage will significantly increase our monthly financial obligations at the Federal level. With the economic picture clearly identified, so have we also defined a response and line of action as follows:
1. We shall continue to move our economy away from dependence on oil. Our efforts at diversification into agriculture and solid minerals is beginning to yield results. As we move forward in this direction, not only do we expect our foreign earning capacity to increase, we also expect to see a decline in our foreign import bills.
2. We intend to increase our internal revenue generation through identification of new revenue sources and blockage of leakages in existing revenue sources. This is our preferred option in preference to additional borrowings. I wish to state that the common Nigerian will not pay new or increase taxes in the foreseeable future. Ad you know, our Government is a common man friendly government.
NEXT LEVEL:
The nextlevel is not just a campaign slogan.

A) What is NextLevel.
The next level is a collection of inter related projects and sub programs designed and carefully selected with the strategic objective to improve the lives of the common Nigerian and every Nigerian.
Therefore, the next level is more appropriately called the “Next Level program” and the sub programs include infrastructure, Manpower development, job creation
and empowerment sub programs.
Following from above, significant, continuous and sustained improved standard of living of every Nigerian is the “Next Level” we seek.
I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the details of the next level and next level programs via the online next level web pages and the various hard copy documents available for your pickup.
B) The next level program also represents our effort to define and set Nigeria’s goals, objectives, metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) over the next 4years. The next level program defines the criteria for the measurement and evaluation of performance and success of this administration in the next 4 years.
I must admit that in the last 4 years, the opposition attempted to undermine our achievements and successes because there were no quantifiable metrics and kpi’s defined at the onset of this administration. Now, we have set the performance measures and defined the success criteria over the next 4 years. This will eliminate any ambiguity and subjectivity in performance assessment from 2019 onwards.
Also kindly permit me to address you on key elements of the implementation of the Next Level program;
a) Stakeholder Engagement:
This government (your government) has done a good job in engaging all identified next level stakeholders.
We have setup various communication channels including online platforms and town hall meetings. I am very proud of the efforts of my deputy, Prof Osinbajo who continues to meet with you on the streets of Nigeria disseminating the next level agenda.
We shall engage all ministries, agencies and government parastatals to ensure a common understanding that the next level is not another budget “line item”. It defines the success criteria of this administration over a four year period.
You are a key and important NextLevel stakeholder.
b). Financial Framework: In the comings months, we will provide Nigerians with the budget estimate of the next level program, including the funding sources and funding schedule. In future budgets, the next level will be a line item.
c) Risk Management: I have directed the next level management team under the office of the Vice President to engage in a brainstorming sessions to identify all potential negative and positive threats that may impact the outcome of the program, with the view to provide a response plan.
d) Monitoring and Control: I have directed that a team of qualified Nigerian program management professionals be setup to monitor the progress of the next level program. The main objective is to manage the over 100 next level projects centrally for maximized benefits.
This team will identify component interdependencies, define milestones, master schedule (Start and Finish dates of all components) and next-level roadmap.
This team will equally interact with identified responsible persons from each involved ministries and facilitate collaboration among various ministries involved.
I will plan to provide Nigerians with updates and reports every 6 months. This will include dashboards, updated Gantt charts and a score card. We will be very transparent with you regarding the implementation of the NextLevel program.

Conclusion:
Once again, I want to thank you for your continued support of this administration.
As you go out to vote in the next few days, I seek your approval and mandate of the Next Level business case and charter by voting for APC on Feb 16.
Be rest assured that I am doing my best to speak and fight for you on all issues that impact you individually and collectively as Nigerians. Insha Allah, I will not disappoint you.

Politics / Ayogu Eze: We’ll Rectify ‘strange Judgment’- Campaign Spokesman by chinwe1960: 5:12pm On Feb 05, 2019
The Ayogu Eze Campaign Organisation has reacted to the upturning of Senator Ayogu Eze’s victory at primaries.

Here is a Press Statement released by the council:

‘Our lawyers have briefed us about a strange judgement by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja which tends to void the primaries conducted by our party in Enugu State.

We want our teeming party supporters to disregard this reckless adventure from the bench, an adventure we know will be discharged in due course.

Our lawyers have assured us that all necessary legal steps are being taken to discharge this obvious miscarriage of justice within the next couple of days. We urge our party faithfuls and supporters from across the parties and strata of the society to remain calm and resolute while our lawyers are dealing with this minor distraction and irritation.

We are however humbled by the overwhelming outpouring of solidarity from our large supporters and ever growing support base, not only from every corner of our dear Enugu but from beyond and appreciate their calling our attention to a curious Abuja court order which, as the saying goes, is really of no issue at all.

We want to assure all and sundry that Distinguished Senator Ayogu Eze remains the Governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress Enugu State.

We are going on with our campaign in full assurance that Ayogu Eze, CON will emerge as the Governor of Enugu State come March 2, 2019.

The celebration by the PDP and its leadership over this perverse judgement has further indicated that Sen. Ayogu Eze is a big scare to the rattled PDP hence the best candidate to beat the inept incumbent and win the governorship election in Enugu State.

Our teeming supporters are enjoined to ignore this High court decision purchased by a desperate political party for their sponsored agent to cause distraction and continue with our already laid down campaign Programmes.

We shall not fail to use this opportunity to congratulate our great party on the victory secured at the Court of Appeal sitting in Portharcourt in respect to our Rivers State Governorship and other candidates.

Our movement towards President Buhari’s re-election and our decisive victory in the Governorship elections in Enugu State remain unwaveringly on course. Our train is on the move. There is no stopping this great Rescue race to victory.

Ndi Enugu, No shaking.

In God We Trust !

Politics / Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Is A Nigerian Fact Reveal- Statereporter News by chinwe1960: 12:47pm On Feb 04, 2019
*ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR IS A NIGERIAN*

On the claims that Atiku is from Cameroon, Mazi Nnamdi KANU was only raising a point to justify his quest for Biafra plebiscites.

For better understanding to the utopians and political ranters!
British Cameroon was a British mandate territory in British west Africa, 1922 – 1961.Today, the territory forms parts of Northern Nigeria in the West Africa and Cameroon in the Central Africa.

Note this: Germany had four territories in Africa; Tanganyika, Togo, Cameroun and Namibia. After World War I, 1914 – 1918, as part of the Versailles Treaty that ended that War, a defeated Germany has to lose all her over sea territories. In Africa, Tanganyika and Southern Cameroun were ceded to Britain. Togo and Northern Cameroun were ceded to the French. While Namibia, then known as South Western Africa was ceded to the Republic of South Africa.

French Cameron became independent as Cameron or Cameroon, in January 1960, and Nigeria was scheduled for independence later that same year.which raised question of what to do with the British territory. After some discussion, which had been going on since 1959, a plebiscite was agreed to and held on 11th February 1961.

The Muslim majority Northern area opted for Union with Nigeria and the Southern area voted to join Cameroon.
Northern Cameroon became the sardauna province of Northern Nigeria on 31 May 1961 while Southern Cameroon became West Cameroon, a constituent state of the federal Republic of Cameroon later that year on 1st Oct. 1961.

So for those that are shouting that Atiku is a foreigner, hope this concise historical analysis will help you to have a better understanding . Adamawa and Taraba States (old Gongola State), falls among the area that unite with Nigeria. So what is wrong with this unification? Does this made Atiku a foreigner?

Berlin Conference of 1884/85 that partitioned Africa, divided most states that has same cultural affinity and joined together states with different roots. Do you know that some part of Togo and Benin Republic are of Yoruba extraction? Some states in Northwest geopolitical zone has similar culture and tradition with Niger Republic, Fulani extraction!

Therefore, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a bone fide citizen of Nigeria, simple!

Politics / How Drug Abuse Ruin Female Lives In Northern Nigeria-statereporter News by chinwe1960: 8:52am On Feb 03, 2019
In Kaduna, Habiba, a young lady on the streets of Barnawa holding a baby and a stick of weed shares her story: “I did not decide to be an addict, my family were a trouble to me, I was treated ill from others, I didn’t feel loved by my parents so I started to find solace in my friends and neighbours who introduced me to a cigarette-like stick. I was 16 years old; I did not like it at first but it gave me a good feeling; I was always smiling and my worries became less. I wanted to stop, I tried to stop but each time I went a day without codeine cough syrup or weed I became sad and depressed and I felt like the world was going to end. So I continued; stopping will be very hard for me. Sometimes I feel sick but I can’t stop.”

When asked if she was scared of her baby learning her smoking habits, Habiba said: “I will not want her to learn, it is very bad but if it’s God’s will then let it be done. I want my child to be a doctor to help people like me.”

In Kano, Rasheedah, a married woman, explained how drugs, codeine specifically, were her only recourse after her husband broke her heart by deciding to take on a second wife. “I never believed my husband would take another wife until my neighbour told me during a regular evening gist. Life became horrible for me, I went to see his family to discuss what I had heard, but to my surprise his mother knew about his plans to marry a second wife. Two months after I found out about his plans to take a new wife, they got married; all the top government officials were invited. I felt betrayed beyond my imagination. My girlfriend Zainab (name changed) was always taking cough syrup, I didn’t know what it was, but I tried it someday and that was how I found peace of mind.”

Fatal Addiction

Theresa Ugalahi, a psychiatrist with the Birmingham Solihull Mental Health Foundation London, highlights the effects of drug addiction among women, which is now gaining a foothold in the northern part of Nigeria.

“In addition to all the adverse effects of drug addiction to humans, which we know of, females have certain roles and body build that increase the adverse effect of drugs addiction on them. Females can tolerate less alcohol than males, and this is because they have less body water and more body fats,” she said.

“The alcohol does not have enough body water to dilute the alcohol, so it stays at a higher concentration in the body. Some studies have also reported that women have fewer enzymes in the stomach to break down alcohol and thus tend to get more alcohol into their system. We are also aware that the elimination of alcohol depends on the quantity in the body. Thus they stay drunk for longer, their kidneys and livers are exposed to alcohol for longer, causing more damage than in males.

“The role of the female, which includes bearing children, means any drug addiction does not stop on the person involved but it also affects another person — the unborn child. Women who drink while pregnant risk their newborn babies developing fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, the most severe of which is fetal alcohol syndrome.”

She explains that this syndrome comes with mental retardation and other adverse problems. Cigarette intake, she says, has been associated with frequent miscarriages in pregnant females, likewise the use of most of the other drugs. While pregnant, the use of other drugs can result in withdrawal for the child, sometimes fatal.

“For example, use of Benzodiazepines can cause floppy baby syndrome, where the child cannot move, including for essential things like breathing. Stimulants may cause the baby to be hyperactive, irritable at birth and develop a disorder called attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in childhood. The use of any form of opioid, including codeine, in pregnancy may cause neonatal abstinence syndrome associated with vomiting, breathing problems and hypersensitivity to noise.

“Also, note that some drugs can be transmitted through breast milk, depending on the quantity taken. A child’s brain keeps developing after birth, and lots of neuronal differentiation takes place during this period. Drugs have been known to disarray this fine and precise arrangement and growth of these neutrons.”

Some of these brain changes can lead to mental disorders during adolescence or adulthood, or mental retardation and problems with motor and behaviour skills, the official adds.

“In general, the physical health of persons addicted to drugs is very poor. Cancers, blood clots in the brain, liver disease, nervous problems, poor nutrition and poor self-care are more or less permanent fixtures.”

She says women who take hypno-sedatives or stimulants are at an increased risk of engaging in risky sexual behaviour. This is because the drugs have the potential to make them less in-control and increase sexual appetite.

Getting sexually assaulted while under the influence can led to many unwanted outcomes like pregnancies, STIs, HIV and emotional trauma, she added.

“The drug culture controls the life of the person. And the female will have to be subject to the rules of that environment, which in a country as paternalistic as Nigeria will be largely subservient. The cost of these drugs necessitates debts as these women cannot hold a job and they need to buy expensive drugs in a continuous blur. They live in fear of these drug suppliers and the law,” she explains.

Prevalence

Dr Mairo Mandara, the Nigerian Country Representative for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, explained that the prevalence of drug abuse among girls is aimed at exploiting their sexuality by making them “unconscious”.

“At a young age, life and livelihood for girls is very important; and this is unique to girls. It is because they have a product that can be used. A lot of time, most of the girls are drugged so that you can get them off their mind, off their guard. A typical Hausa girl to have sex with two men and others are watching? It’s not regular,” she says. “The vulnerability of girls is not just to have them on drugs but to have them on drugs for the purpose of exploiting their sexuality.”

She also harped on marital negligence as cause of the menace. This, she said, has a more pronounced effect on the women.

“You find a husband who is not able to cater for his responsibility. In the north, even if you’re a billionaire, you expect your husband to shelter you, clothe you — no friends, no job, stress, yet no care from their husbands. It’s more of circumstantial.”

Asked if the Sharia Law against the intake of alcohol has in any way fuelled the spread of the abuse of hard drugs, Dr. Mandara replied thus: “In Islam, alcohol is not the only thing that is forbidden. Everything that intoxicates is forbidden. We need to redefine the definition of intoxicants among Muslim clergies.”

She blamed the government for not putting up measures to forestall the sale of codeine even though it has been banned.

She then charged the elite to break their silence and work on discontinuing the menace by speaking and taking charge.

“At family level, we need to take our family more seriously. Honestly speaking, in the north, men need to take their family more seriously — because they are relegating the responsibility to the women. In the north, men are in charge of the home. At 18, if a mother talks to her child, the child would probably think you are a parrot.”

Kano Hisbah Board As Moral Police

Hisbah Board in Kano is referred to as the moral police. At the time of visit, there were about 14 to 21 young girls in their custody who were seen at inappropriate locations “at the most inappropriate hours” and picked up.

Though all the women under substance abuse have been transferred to the Kano State reformatory centre Kiru, all efforts made to access the reformatory centre proved abortive.

Speaking with Khadijah, 14, who had been held for three days at the Hisbah Board for fleeing her home in Adamawa State to Kano, she said she had to flee because her step mum “doesn’t treat her well”.

After losing both parents to Boko Haram rampage on her hometown, Adamawa, she has since been staying with her step-mom. She hopes to return to her grandmother in Jalingo so that she can start schooling again.

Another girl in the custody of Hisbah is Maryam, 19, who was caught at New Paradise Hotel, Kano. Maryam is a dancer. She gets N3000 to N4000 for dancing; even if she makes more money, she’s not paid more than that.

As for Khadijah, 19, who has been in the custody of Hisbah for a week, her parents reported her to Hisbah. She was held, alongside her boyfriend, Mathew, 29, whose house she fled to.

‘We Are Doing Our Best’

Director-General of Hisbah Board, Abah Seriyu Subi, admitted that, although rare, women have records of taking drugs and other substances.

“We have women but it has not been in our character (in the north). We have up 150 males and 50 females in our custody,” he said. “Although we have a challenge: People are denying (failing) to send their female children to the Board because of stigmatisation. They hide their children because of peer group.”

He added that intake of drug by these women is mainly “for them to get high”, and this has been aided by peer pressure and poverty.

Asked how the ban on codeine has reduced or increased the intake of other drugs, he said: “You cannot say it is because of the ban on the consumption of codeine. There are different substances that can make someone high: faeces of lizard, some go to the toilet (to sniff ammonia), we have ‘solution’. And they very cheap; with N5 to N10, you can get it.”

Sabongeri, a cosmopolitan area in Kano, seems to be the worst hit in the prevalence of drug abuse in the state. Therefore, the attention of the Board is drawn to the area.

“You will get all manner of drug addicts in the area,” Subi said. “We are doing our best to sanitise Sabongeri. Operating in the area is very complicated.”

Kano Police Speak

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Magaji Majia, says the Kano State Police have developed a mutual relationship with every community “which makes it easy for information to be sourced when there is illegal distribution of illegal or suspicious substance in Kano”.

They [Police] work alongside the vigilante and the community rulers to make sure that the illegal consumption of codeine cough syrup and other illegal drugs is eliminated.

Mr Majia added that, recently, a man was arrested for storing over 25 bags, each of which contained 25 parcels of Marijuana, in a residential building which he has made a warehouse for these products.

The man, the caretaker and landlord have been arrested for this. Also, a man was arrested for importing banned Tramadol worth N19 million packed in an LG Television carton in a trailer with the intention of depositing in Kano State and Niger Republic.

Majia says the Police, with over 7000 officers, are working tirelessly in bringing perpetrators to law, though he said the Police are more concerned with dealers and importers of these harmful products.

“There are about 7,000 officers working tirelessly to bring drug abuse and addiction to a stop.

Mostly, women consume more Tramadol, Packaline, Rohypnol (Rochi),” he says.

Recovery From Drug Addiction In Women Lower— Psychologist

According to Ayo Ajeigba, a psychologist with the Olive Prime Psychological Service, “drug abuse and addiction is common among Nigerian women now”.

“Women use several substances, even more than men; other types of substances used also depend on cultures and religion, though in terms of comparison, men still consume drugs more than women though the recovery rate from drug addiction among women seem lower and they often get deeper as they have more emotional reasons backing their substance use.

“In terms of after effect of substances, the long and short term effects also depends on the type of substance consumed.”

According to Ajeigba, weed contributed to the smoothness of her pregnancy and speed of delivery “I did not stop smoking even all through my pregnancy. In fact, it made me strong and kept the baby healthy, I was in labour for just 20 mins and I believe weed was responsible for my painless delivery; my baby is 12 months old.”

Ticking Bomb

There is a need for rehabilitation centres, creation of awareness of menace by religious leaders, state actors in order to bring drug addiction to a stop, advocates have said..

Some like Ibrahim Yusuf Gombe have gone a step further to weigh in.

Mr Gombe, an advocate and Director of the Drug-Free Arewa, a non governmental organisation, says the movement aims to tackle the alarming drug abuse especially among young people in the region.

He says it also aims to pull the attention of strategic influencers and stakeholders to the extent of the alarming damage, and the threat drug abuse poses on the future of the region.

“We also aim to reposition the northern region gradually, back on its historic hub of naturally and customary excellent and exceptional leaders, evident in providing direction in national affairs, and as pillars of Nigeria’s nationhood,” he says

Politics / Inec Deprives Children Of Education In Nnewi-statereporter News by chinwe1960: 7:25pm On Feb 02, 2019
INEC DEPRIVES CHILDREN OF EDUCATION IN NNEWI

The Independent National Electoral Commission began training of ad-hoc staff for the February elections at Nnewi High School, Nnewi

StateReporter News can confirm that students from JS 1 to JS 3 were displaced as their materials (desks) are being used as well as their classrooms for the exercise

Efforts to get the INEC personnel to explain further as regards the arrangement, they all declined to comment while an anonymous source with the school, voiced great displeasure at the situation

These children are not receiving classes anymore especially the JS 3 students who have external exams (Mock and Junior WASSCE) coming up in a few weeks

They will still face the same exams as other schools despite lagging behind for no fault of theirs

The notice for the usage of the school was both sudden and unplanned, with no contingency plan to adequately handle the side effects of hosting such an event during school days

It is very inappropriate to hinder children from their studies and to make matters worse, no compensation will be given for the damages that will surely be incurred as a result of the usage of the children’s desks as most of the volunteers now use the desks as seats while some stand on them, which is highly inappropriate and unfair to both the students and parents” said the source

A quick look around the school revealed that the volunteers had converted the environment into lavatories at any given chance and corner, resulting in the pollution of the school environment, rendering it unfit for quality learning when this exercise comes to an end on Thursday

While some parents frowned at this development, the INEC officials who were ill mannered, were seen barking orders, bereft of all civility and decorum which further turned the environment into a noisy arena

Despite the obvious dangers (educationally and hygienically) the INEC have exposed the children to, they still went ahead to group the volunteers of about 1000 people into 5 groups of:

Politics / Youth’s Group Summon Buhari, Atiku And Other -statereporter News by chinwe1960: 7:16pm On Feb 02, 2019
(ANY) ALL NIGERIAN YOUTH’S RE-ORIENTED GROUP SUMMON BUHARI, ATIKU AND OTHER PRESIDENTIAL CONTESTANTS TO SIGN A BILL THAT WILL HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR PROMISES IN THE COURT OF LAW.

The youth solidarity of all Nigerian youths reoriented group has issued a statements that will hold all Nigeria presidential contestants
responsible for their promises to the citizens of Nigeria in the 2019 presidential election.

In the interview with the stakeholder’s at their meeting yesterday, Comrade OLUFEMI AJADI OGUNTOYINBO, Barrister IZUNYA DALE ISAAC, Comrade KENNY TELUWO DAVID, Comrade BABASOLA GBENGA, Comrade OLUGBENGA AWOEYO and DAVID OLUKOYA.

Said Critically, the present state of the nation is in confusion it will be unfair to say Nigerians will vote for incredible leaders.

We mean it , “BUHARI and ATIKU” are not transparent enough to proof themselves in this forthcoming election, however, is these the kind of leaders we want to vote for? The Leaders who can’t confirm to us their agenda. “They have turned Nigerians mind set by their political gimmicks’.

Both candidates have failed to become Nigeria President, as they failed to tell Nigerian’s what they will do when they get to office in the ” Presidential Debate of 2019″ this is so glaring that they will fail us if the both of them get there again.
Our question is are they going there to serve us or to rule us”?

While they change immediately we vote them in, Nigeria leaders equip themselves with outrageous amount of automobiles and flashy lifestyles.
Why do Nigerians love complaining and murmuring? Can we for once take a stand and refuse modern slavery?

They have turned the office to inheritance transferable to their families and friends, it has become a National cake, for somebody that leaves a office, still pursuing another office even before his tenure is over, when no body will question them immediately they leave their office.
Blessed beyond what a mere citizen can fathom, its they(politicians)that understand better, the more reason they want to die in their respective offices,

“Our concerns is can these two major candidates sign a bill that will hold them responsible “. Nigerians as it stated in their agenda that if they fail to fulfill their agenda, a single Nigerian should summon them to court of law & they should be prosecuted and jailed if they fail to fulfill the promises made to Nigerians.

This is the only way we can believe all this promises they made to us will hold them responsible.

SIGN IN THE COURT OF LAW THAT A SINGLE NIGERIAN WILL PROSECUTE YOU IF YOU DON’T FULFILL YOUR PROMISES/ AGENDA ARE YOU READY TO GO JAIL?

Ebonyi Guber 2019: Monica congratulates APC for Conceding victory to Gov. Umahi

…..Arranges to refund Senator Ogbuoji his campaign expenses

It was a galore of celebration and victory dance throughout Ebonyi State on 30th January 2019 immediately after the All Progressives Congress Presidential rally in Abakaliki the State capital of Ebonyi State when it becomes obvious that Apostle Dr Dave Nweze Umahi the indefatigable Governor of Ebonyi State reelection bid received the blessings and approval of all the opposition political parties particularly the APC in Ebonyi State.

This position becomes imperative after it took much pleas from the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for Senator Sunny Ogbuoji the APC Flag -Bearer in Ebonyi State to be recognized during the APC rally by most of the key political actors of APC in the State and even when he was being introduced it was the shout of UMAHI! UMAHI! UMAHI!!! Ka Anya ga eso (It is Umahi we will follow) that was been chorused by those that attended the rally.

Even when Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze the APC State Chairman tried in vain to castigate the administration of Engr. UMAHI! UMAHI!!! Ka Anya ga eso (It is Umahi we will follow) that was been chorused by those that attended the rally.

Even when Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze the APC State Chairman tried in vain to castigate the administration of Engr. Dave Umahi that the administration has not achieved anything for the State both President Muhammadu Buhari and some of the important dignitaries busted into uncontrollably laughter indicating that Pastor Eze has succeeded in making himself a laughing stock. These APC chieftains will be wondering how could any sane man utter such a statement that Governor Umahi who was praised few minutes before the commencement of the rally for being the face of good governance in the country that he didn’t achieve anything in the state.

Lady Monica Ada Chidinma Eze the Founder and President of David Umahi Nweze Akuburoah Ebonyi Transformation Agenda (DUNAETA), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) promoting and projecting good governance and virile democracy in Ebonyi State made these remarks in a press statement circulated to the Media in Abakaliki on Thursday.

Monica, who expressed happiness, stated that it is only those from the dark kingdom that could visit Ebonyi without acknowledging the great feats and transformation that the administration of Engr. Umahi has brought to the State.

“Truly, Governor Umahi is an enigma and epitome of what a leader should be and those of us from Ebonyi State thank God for the special gift he gave to us through the coming of his son, Apostle Umahi and no effort or plot to truncate God’s vision for Ebonyi State through him will succeed” Monica said.

She commended Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu the former Governor of old Abia State and incumbent Minister of Science and Technology and a key stakeholder in the State for the maturity he exhibited during the rally acknowledging before the world that President Buhari is not only a good friend of Ebonyi State but that Ebonyi State was the first State in Nigeria apart from Katsina State his home state where he slept, ate, drank and spent two days commissioning projects after projects.

The DUNAETA President eulogized President Buhari for his special love for Governor Umahi and pleaded with him to allow a free and fair election in the State as we have only one creditable gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State and that is Apostle Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi and anybody working against his reelection bid is an enemy of the State.

Monica further commended Mr. President for assuring the government and people of Ebonyi State of his preparedness to refund monies the state spent on federal projects after the review committee concludes auditing of the projects. President who stated this during an audience with Governor David Umahi and other stakeholders at the State Government House, Abakaliki also commended Governor David Umahi for the infrastructural development in the State.

Monica highlighted that President Buhari told the traditional rulers that his administration’s plans to invest in agriculture was deliberate in order to improve the living standard of Nigerians and create alternative revenue for the nation.

“But subsequently, we got drunk with oil money and abandoned what kept us intact. But we are going back to that (agriculture),” President Buhari said.

He assured the monarchs that the South-East would benefit from second Niger Bridge when completed as it would enhance movement of goods and services in and out of the region.

In his remarks, Governor David Umahi stated that the south east geopolitical zone have benefited from federal government projects and added that the federal government’s agricultural programme has benefited the state immensely as the state has comparative advantage in agriculture and solid minerals compared to other states within the zone and concluded by thanking the President for approving the commencement of Ebonyi salt production.

In endorsing President Buhari and Governor Umahi the chairman of traditional rulers Council in Ebonyi State, Eze Charles Mkpuma, said: “We appreciate your dogged determination to maintain utmost security of the country, especially your effort in eliminating Boko Haram and fight against corruption, which has brought respect and integrity to the country in the comity of nations.

“We believe that your robust relationship with our son, the Governor, and your love for him and the state will surely earn you votes in Ebonyi State, irrespective of party differences.”

Ada Ebonyi commended the 140 Ebonyi traditional rulers that endorsed Buhari and Umahi for 2019 and concluded that with this endorsement the coast is now clear for the proper victory celebration come March 2nd 2019.

Monica Eze who is also the Technical Adviser (TA) on Media to Governor Umahi counselled Senator Ogbuorji for his loss, but assured him that she will set up a fund raising committee comprising herself as Chairperson, Hon. Collins Eze and Hon. Solomon Woba and two other members of DUNAETA to raise enough funds to cushion the effects of whatever expenses Senator Ogbuoji may have incurred so far in running his makeshift campaigns.

Politics / Just In: Pdp Campaign Dg Defects To Apc- Statereporter News by chinwe1960: 8:25pm On Feb 01, 2019
The Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign organisation in Gombe State has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the presidency has said.

A statement by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said Bala Bello Tinka (alias Tinka Point) met with President Muhammadu Buhari at State House, Abuja, on Thursday night.

Mr Adesina said during the meeting, Mr Tinka pledged allegiance to the APC and also vowed to bring his political weight to bear on the election of the President for a second term in office.

“Coming exactly a fortnight to the presidential election, the defection of Alhaji Tinka deals a massive blow to the PDP in Gombe. PDP currently governs the state, and has done so since 2003,” Mr Adesina said.

“President Muhammadu Buhari campaigns in Gombe Saturday and Alhaji Tinka is expected to formally join the APC, alongside others, during the event.”

Mr Tinka had aspired to succeed Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo as governor but was unsuccessful in clinching the governorship ticket of the party.

The businessman is a major contractor in the state. He owns Tinka Point Limited, which he started in 1986 as Bala Tinka Enterprise.

The company has since grown into a major local construction company in the country handling construction of roads, erosion control and other infrastructures for the federal and some state governments.

Mr Tinka was a close ally of Governor Dankwambo, and it remains unclear why he defected from the governor’s party.

There were reports in January 2018 that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained the businessman over alleged complicity involving alleged slush funds used by the PDP for its 2015 campaign.

The status of the case remained unclear.

Politics / Terrorists Funding Reduced In West Africa In 2018 – ECOWAS by chinwe1960: 4:30am On Jan 31, 2019
The Inter-Governmental Action against Money Laundering and Terrorists Financing in West Africa, GIABA, has observed a reduction in terrorists financing and money laundering activities among member countries of ECOWAS in 2018.

GIABA is an institution of the Economic Community of West African
States, ECOWAS, established in 2000 to combat terrorists’ financing and fight against money laundering across West Africa.

GIABA’s Information Manager in Nigeria, Timothy Melaye, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos that more countries had complied with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force, FATF, in 2018.

READ ALSO: It’s mandatory for Nigeria to assist ECOWAS, says President Buhari

“In 2018, GIABA had again demonstrated its commitment to support
countries in West Africa in the fight against money laundering and
terrorists financing.

“ECOWAS member countries did well last year in the fight against
money laundering and terrorists’ financing in their countries.

“Many of these countries have enacted laws, and today, these countries
have different anti-money laundering regimes that are now becoming stronger and stronger.

Though we are awaiting statistics from these engagements, it is no
longer an easy task for people to launder money again due to the
systems on ground,’’ he said.

Mr Melaye said that GIABA had in 2018 embarked on advocacy visits to
raise awareness and support for national authorities in fighting
against money laundering and terrorists financing in their countries.

GIABA’s information manager also said that the organisation had
also embarked on mutual evaluation of more West African countries,
including Senegal, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso.

“And in the course of carrying out our mutual evaluation, we have
discovered the compliance of few more countries.

We have discovered that the movement of money across different
countries is now increasingly becoming difficult because of the
systems in place.

“We have even discovered that people now keep large sums of money
in their homes because of the strong systems being put in place by the
different countries of ECOWAS,’’ he said.

The Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa, GIABA, is a specialised institution of the Economic Community of West African States responsible for facilitating the adoption and implementation of Anti-Money Laundering, AML, and Counter-Financing of Terrorism, CFT, in West Africa.

GIABA was established in 2000 and has its headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. It consists of 17 member states.

Politics / Ojukwu Was A Failed Hero, Says Gov. El-rufai Son-statereporter News by chinwe1960: 4:23am On Jan 31, 2019
Bashir, son of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, says the leader of the defunct Biafran Republic, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, was a failed hero.

Bashir said this in a Twitter post while reacting to a comment.

The governor’s son had said Enugu State was the homeland of Ojukwu instead of Nnewi in Anambra State

However, when his error was brought to his notice, rather than apologising, Bashir said, “Knowing your failed hero’s homeland that plunged misguided idiots into a civil war and ran away is not my concern. You do your research and find out his hometown.

“I could care less for the man. And he will forever remain a dent in our history.”

When the follower reacted by saying Ojukwu would remain greater than Governor el-Rufai, who kneels down to greet the President and others, Bashir said Ojukwu was a fearful man who ran away when the Nigerian forces were closing in on him.

He added, “Don’t cry please. Your hero was a failure that ran away when he saw imminent defeat. Get out of here.”

Governor el-Rufai and his son are not new to controversy.

Politics / Judgements On Zamfara APC Put INEC In Difficult Position -statereporters News by chinwe1960: 3:35am On Jan 27, 2019
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said yesterday it has yet to take a decision on the status of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with regards to presenting candidates in the forthcoming general elections, as it is still awaiting the two conflicting judgments on the matter. Spokesman of the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, told Reporters on Sunday that the commission would make its position known after obtaining and studying the merits and demerits of both judgments.

“The two conflicting judgments were given on the same day and when such conflicting judgments are given, it poses a challenge to INEC. However, the commission is awaiting the judgments to study their merits and demerits before making its position known on Zamfara”, Oyerkanmi said.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had on Friday upheld the decision of INEC not to accept candidates of the APC in Zamfara State for the 2019 general elections while a Zamfara State High Court on the same day gave a contrary judgement, ordering INEC to recognise and accept the candidates of the party.

It would be recalled that INEC barred the Zamfara State APC was barred from fielding candidates in the forthcoming elections due to its inability to conduct primaries within the period stipulated, a development that caused the state APC to approach the court.

But reacting to the two rulings delivered on Friday, Professor Auwalu Yadudu, told Reporters on Sunday that “it would be best if they (INEC) approach the Court of Appeal, a court of higher jurisdiction, to resolve the issue.”

On his part, the Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Prof. Adedeji Adekunle (SAN), said without commenting on the merits or otherwise of the courts’ judgments, the options before INEC include: “appealing the decision, taking legal advice from the Ministry of Justice or it (INEC) can also decide to take legal advice from its own advisers if it wants to assert its independence.

Adding his voice, a constitutional lawyer, Sebastine Hon, said “INEC is not subject to a state High Court in matters like this but rather subject to the Federal High Court, being a federal government agency pursuant to S251(1) of the Constitution. So, INEC cannot now pretend to be obeying the Zamfara court and disobey a judgement of the Federal High Court.

“The exigency on the ground is that both courts have given judgements that are conflicting in nature, under normal circumstances, a higher court (Appeal Court) should have interpreted which of the judgements is binding. However, it looks like there is no time for any pronouncement to that effect. Therefore, facing this quagmire, INEC has no choice but to comply with the judgement of the court that has jurisdiction,” he said

Asked if approaching the appellate court by INEC would be the ideal situation, Hon said with barely a few days to the elections, it is difficult, though possible, for the Appeal Court to make pronouncement on the issue.

“It is possible if INEC or any affected party appeals and using the fast track rules of the Court of Appeal, the appeal may be heard and judgement given before the election date. My problem, however, is; did INEC include APC candidates in the ballot papers that have been printed so far? If they did not, how can they include them now? These are the challenges,” he said.

Another constitution lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) also said the judgement of the Federal High Court prevails in the present scenario.

“Since the Federal High Court and Zamfara State high court are of coordinate jurisdiction and since the Federal High Court has special jurisdictional powers over matters like this pursuant to S251 of the Constitution, it is clear that the judgment by the Zamfara State High Court is a non sequitur, it does not fly at all”, he said.

The conflicting courts judgments

The Federal High Court in Abuja held that INEC’s decision to reject the candidates’ list of the APC in Zamfara State was within the powers vested in the commission by the constitution.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, in her judgement, said that the APC failed to conduct a valid primary within the stipulated time and the problem could not be blamed on INEC.

The judge said INEC’s action was intended to curb impunity among political parties and politicians; and ensure that rule of law is adhered to.

However, a Zamfara State High Court in Gusau presided over by Justice Muhammad Bello Shinkafi affirmed that the APC in Zamfara State conducted primary elections on 3rd and 7th of October 2018.

The court also asked INEC to accept the primaries for the APC’s governorship, senatorial, house of representatives and state Assembly seats.

The National Secretariat of APC was also barred from replacing the names of those who won the primary elections of the party on 7th October 2018

I will deliver Biafra this year- Prophet Nwoko

Prophet Nwoko

A popular Enugu-based prophet, Anthony Nwoko has said he is the messiah ordained to free Biafra people from the continued oppression, and marginalization that the Igbo nation has suffered in Nigeria saying it is the will of God that must manifests in 2019.

“Today I am telling Biafra believers, those who believe that God can do it, come out en mass, and welcome the glory, the light of the world. God never does a partial thing. It is left for you people to come out now in 2019. I, Prophet of Prophets will deliver Biafra to you people”.

“No man of flesh will stop the will of God. God has said and it is final. Anybody who says he is going to challenge God let him step forward; there is a light in the world.

He said “for over 30 years they refuse to accept the glory of God. I have never been to my home town for the past 48 years, because I want to make sure that this light manifest to our people to see. I am not married; I left my lucrative job in America for the glory of God to manifest in this country”.

In an explosive interview with journalists in Enugu, Nwoko also warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to be wary of Nnamdi Kanu as he has no genuine intentions for the freedom of Biafra, adding that the IPOB leader would only use and dump them at critical time.

Prophet Nwoko, described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu as an anti-Christ and a man who is given to deceit saying that the runaway IPOB leader is a businessman who does not have the interest of the Igbo nation at heart.

“Nnamdi kanu has nothing to give, he just deceives them. And the people are ignorant they did not even want to follow what the scripture is saying. I don’t even see IPOB bringing up a very strong religious group to find out from the spirit, is Nnamdi is the saviour he makes himself, put on crown on himself, call himself supreme master, everything you might think of”.

“Nnamdi Kanu , has taken oath with the IPOB members telling them that he has the authority to save and whatever is telling them is what they will believe. Very soon when the light of the world in me manifests, they will come back to Jesus. That is the only salvation the world is looking for”.

He described both President Buhari and the People’s Democratic Candidate in 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar as birds of same feather, who have no solutions to Nigeria’s problems.

“On the part of Atiku and Buhari; they are birds of same feathers. This two Fulanis will not rule Nigeria again, instead of that to happen in this country again the heaven and earth will pass away but his word will never go unfulfilled”.

He called on Igbos to believe in the power of God adding that Igbo will see the Glory which had since been denied them, this year.

“I want to assure my Igbo people this time around 2019, if you believe that God is great, if you believe that all powers belongs to God, if you believe that Jesus is the light of the world, in 2019 the Igbo nation will see their glory and I will lay you in the land full of milk and honey’.

Nwoko, known for his accurate predictions maintained that the East is the light of the world stressing that when Biafra is achieved, the Glory will be restored and the world will bow for the East.

“Enough is enough for the wicked in the Nigeria nation. They saw the glory for over 30 years ago, and they refused to allow the glory to manifest, because the light is from the east”.

“My brothers in Diaspora, listen to prophet Nwoko, I don’t need anything. I have made this sacrifice. I have been on this journey for the past 35 years and I will end up with the Glory of God manifesting in the South East of Nigeria. Buhari will bow, Atiku will bow. All the so called Senators will bow because power belongs to God”.

According to him, the “All Progressive Congress was founded to block the glory from the South East, that is why the Westerners who saw the glory first through Celestial Church of Christ, the Cherubim and Seraphim, the Sabbath Church in Lagos, said it was better they teamed up with the northerners and block “this golden message, otherwise, if we leave Jonathan as the prophet have said by 2015 he will make sure that Igbo nation take back the glory of God”.

Education / ASONIS Issue Warning To FG Regard ASUU Strike- Statereporter News by chinwe1960: 12:08pm On Jan 22, 2019
ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN NIGERIA STUDENTS ( ASONIS NIGERIA )
22ND JAN., 2019

FIRST PRESS RELEASE ON ASUU AND ASUP STRIKE

IT’S A PITIABLE SITUATION for all Nigeria students in Southern Nigeria as their future, aspirations and opportunities have entered the hands of partisan politicians who feel that the demand of ASUU and ASUP aren’t attainable not minding how much this country spend in conducting her elections.
This Association wishes that ASUU and ASUP should think for any other alternative because the students can not continue to be the ridicule of other nations’ students from diaspora. We have suffered much shame that our educational system is not working for numerous reasons I can not even enumerate in this briefly assertion.
The Federal Government has failed the Students in Southern Nigeria and let it be known to them that we can not support them unless they give education the place it deserves in the Nigeria Federal priorities list.
Hungry men or women can not teach/ lecture the students very well so Federal Government should listen to ASUU and ASUP. We must not be characteristically hypocritical because the danger inherent in the ongoing strike are visible pedagogical truism. If we must progress as a country, our education should not be in this shamble.

Long live ASONIS NIGERIA
Long live NANS
Long live NIGERIA

Politics / 2019: Election Violence Looms In Enugu — NOA by chinwe1960: 4:57pm On Jan 21, 2019
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has expressed concerns over possible electoral violence in Enugu, Rivers, Imo, Ogun and Plateau states in the upcoming polls.

Dr Garba Abari, the Director General of the agency, disclosed this at the launching of the nationwide sensitisation to peaceful election on Monday in Abuja.

Abari said that reports from its field officers across the country indicated possible flashpoints in states like Enugu, Rivers, Imo, Ogun and plateau states.

He stated that election periods were often characterised by great anxiety usually heightened by reckless utterances and action of some politicians.

Abari said as patriots and lovers of the country, the citizenry must realise that, they had no other country but Nigeria.

“We have a duty to promote peace, enhance security, national unity and integration, using our diversity and our fault lines as a source of strength rather than a reason to commit violence.

According to him, we are all witnesses to the fact that some of our previous elections have been characterised by all manners of violence.

He called for a reversal of such menace, stressing that such must be addressed in the face of instances of pre-election violence that had been witnessed in places like Lagos, Wukari, and Taraba state.

The D-G said “our youths who are easily used by unscrupulous politicians as cannon folder for the perpetration of violence must be called to order.

According to him, this responsibility is on parents, guardians, religious leaders, opinion moulders, traditional rulers and youth leaders across the country as we draw near to the commencement of the general election.

He reiterated the commitment of the agency to national unity, brotherly love, tolerance of differing opinions and religion.

Abari said that the agency was aware that the 2019 general elections could have significant consequences for the Democratic trajectory of Nigeria, West Africa and the entire Africa continent.
