Politics / Re: Court Sends Ex-petroleum Ministry’s Senior Official To Prison Over $9.6bn Debt by chisomdoris: 12:29pm On Sep 20, 2019

chisomdoris:
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Apo, Abuja has ordered that a former Director, Legal Services of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Grace Taiga be remanded in Suleja prison, in Niger State.
Mrs. Taiga, who was arraigned before the court on Friday on an eight-count charge of bribery, among others, is to remain in prison until September 25, 2019 when her bail application would be heard.

Upon her arraignment on Friday, Mrs. Taiga pleaded not guilty to the charge in which she was, among others, accused of receiving bribe, through her offshore bank account in signing the Gas Supply Processing Agreement (GSPA) between P&ID Limited and the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Petroleum Resources Ministry on January 11, 2019, and over which an arbitration panel, which sat in London awarded about $9.6billion damages against Nigeria.

After she pleaded to the charge, filed and being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), her lawyer, Ola Olanipekun (SAN), prayed the court to allow his client to be remanded in the custody of EFCC pending the determination of her bail application, on the grounds that she was suffering from hypertension and diabetes.

Lead prosecuting lawyer, Bala Sanga however objected to Olanipelun’s request and argued that the proper place to remand a defendant, whose plea had been taken, is prison custody.

In a ruling, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi upheld Sanga’s argument and ordered that the defendant be remanded in Suleja prison.

Justice Adeniyi directed that the defendant be accorded due medical treatment while she is in custody, pending the hearing and determination of her bail application.

The judge subsequently scheduled September 25 for the hearing of her bail application.

The EFCC also accused Mrs. Taiga violating various laws by entering into the GSPA without prior approval by the Federal Executive Council and a certificate of no-objection to the contract from the Bureau of Public Enterprise.

The charge is in relation to the controversial Gas Supply Processing Agreement (GSPA), in respect of which a British court upheld P&ID claim to the $9.6bn damages awarded against Nigeria by an arbitration tribunal

The EFCC alleged that Mrs. Taiga signed as Nigeria’s witness to the GSPA while the then Minister who was the head of the Ministry, Rilwan Lukman (now late), signed as Nigeria’s representative.

Politics / Akinlade’s ‘lazy’ petition shameful to Democracy –APC by chisomdoris: 8:59am On Sep 16, 2019
The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has mocked the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Adekunle Akinlade, over his loss at the election petitions tribunal in the state.

The three-man state governorship election petitions tribunal, led by Yusuf Halilu, while dismissing the petition and upholding Abiodun’s election, described Akinlade’s petition, challenging  Abiodun’s victory,  as “destined to fail”.

The APC, in a statement in Abeokuta by the Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Tunde Oladunjoye, said, “It is very shameful for a candidate and party that were touting to govern an educationally advanced state like Ogun”.

The party commended the decision of the tribunal for affirming the election of Abiodun as governor of the state.

The statement read in part, “This has exposed the lack of depth, procedurally contaminated and virus-invested petition to the whole world. In fact, it is very shameful for a candidate and party that wanted to govern an educationally advanced state like Ogun.

“Our advice is for these people to desist from their distractions and join Prince Dapo Abiodun in building the future of Ogun State together. The governor has been running the promised all-inclusive government.”

Also, a former deputy governor of Ogun State, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, and a chieftain of the party, Lanre Banjo, advised Akinlade to accept the verdict of the tribunal.

Kaka, who accused Akinlade of holding the state down unnecessarily for about four months, urged him to put an end to what he called “unpatriotic pursuit” by heading to the Court of Appeal.

Kaka, in a statement on Sunday, urged Akinlade to accept the verdict in good faith, noting that the state could not afford to be held down by unnecessary litigations.

Banjo commended Akinlade for his resolve to seek legal redress, rather than violence, saying the action would enhance the electoral process.

“Now that it is settled in law that Governor Abiodun won convincingly, Akinlade should join forces with the governor to lift up the state and the country.”

Politics / Tribunal Victory: Tinubu Congratulates Ogun Governor by chisomdoris: 8:24am On Sep 16, 2019
ALL Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun over the judgment of the state’s Governorship Election Petition Tribunal affirming his victory in the March poll.

Asiwaju Tinubu said the APC candidate truly deserved the victory, “despite the intimidation, harassment and violence unleashed on your numerous supporters and other shenanigans perpetrated by known opposition elements within and outside our party, APC”.

The tribunal, headed by Justice Yusuf Halilu, threw out the petition filed by Abdulkadir Adekunle Akinlade and the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

The judge held that the petitioners “not only failed, but also irredeemably failed” to prove their allegations of over-voting and substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

In a congratulatory letter to Abiodun, dated September 15, which he personally signed, Asiwaju Tinubu said: “Saturday’s judgment of the Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal affirming your electoral victory has further demonstrated that your election was indeed a true reflection of the wishes of your people.
“We were all living witnesses to the fact that despite the intimidation, harassment and violence unleashed on your numerous supporters and other shenanigans perpetrated by known opposition elements within and outside our party, APC, you emerged victorious because the people of Ogun stood by you.

“Undaunted by all of that, you ran a clean, peaceful, issues-based campaign. You were, by far, the most popular and most qualified of the governorship candidates, hence your election. You truly deserve your victory.

“This is now time to extend your hand of fellowship to the APM candidate and others who contested against you and indeed other stakeholders in the state. You must re-dedicate yourself to re-uniting the people and be the governor for all.

“Ogun State deserves development; Ogun State deserves industrialisation. Having made success in your private multi-sectoral entrepreneurial life, you are best placed to replicate this in Ogun. This you must do within the shortest possible time.

“Once again, I congratulate you and wish you God’s guidance in the daunting, but not insurmountable tasks, ahead of you.”

Sometimes people mock High profile people and get away with it but this is not same to Akinwande Jonathan Oludiya who tried to shame Reno Omokri through his name but he got more than he bargained for.

See the post below.

Dear Akinwande Jonathan Oludiya,

The word is barking, not 'backing'. You are an example of why I bark. A dog barks to warn of danger. Your profile says you are a graduate. Why should I not bark when a graduate can't construct a proper sentence? I know nowadays certificates don’t matter and you can become President by swearing an affidavit, but at least I have to make an effort to sanitise my beloved country. Your namesake built 165 almajiri schools. Please, find one to attend. May God bless you!

Politics / Tribunal: Presidency condemns media report, says Buhari retracted nothing by chisomdoris: 10:34pm On Sep 14, 2019
The Presidency has condemned what it described as ”a twisted story with malicious intent” which was published in Saturday Punch of Sept. 14, with the headline; “Tribunal: Buhari retracts, confesses he was under tension.”

The news story was derived from what the President said when he received All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, who had come to felicitate with him at State House, Abuja on Friday.

The President’s spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said the newspaper was being mischievous by trying to link up what the president said in an earlier statement (on the judgment) with his remarks during the Friday visit.

The statement read part: ”Referring specifically to judgment day by the tribunal, which coincided with the maiden meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), President Buhari had said: “It was a fabulous coincidence that it came almost the same time the first FEC meeting of this government was taking place.

“It lasted about the same time with the judgment. I thank God for that because I think I would have gone into trauma or something. So, I was busy trying to concentrate on the memos.

”An elementary understanding of the English language shows that President Buhari was talking specifically of the day and time of the court ruling, not before.

”Saturday Punch went further to say that the President’s remarks amounted to a retraction of his earlier statement, in which he said he had been unperturbed about the judicial challenge to his electoral victory.

”Hear the statement personally approved earlier on Wednesday by the President: ‘Good conscience fears no evil report. I was unperturbed all along because I knew Nigerians freely gave us the mandate. We are now vindicated.’

”I was unperturbed all along… Was that referring to judgment day? A simple comprehension of English language indicates otherwise. It referred to the many months the case lasted in court.”

READ HER FULL POST BELOW;

Dear, I don’t even know how to start, I’ve been dating my brother, I mean my own blood brother for 10 years now. It all started when our parents were away for a trip in the states 10 years ago. I was 16 then and my brother was 18. One evening I was bathing when I forgot my towel so I asked my brother to get it for me. As soon as my brother brought the towel he opened the bathroom door and started making advances at me. He started telling me how curvy I’ve become. All of a sudden, before I knew it we were kissing. He went naked and joined me in the bathroom and we made love that’s when I lost my virginity, after that we started dating

I slept in his room for a month until our parents came back from their trip even that once in a while I manage to sneak into his room to have sex. We fell so much in love but managed to hide it from our parents, we promised never to date anyone in our lives, honestly my brother is most handsome, adorable and caring human being I’ve ever met.

Fast forward I’m 26 now working in a reputable company, my brother is 28 now also heading our dad’s company. Life was so good until our parents started giving him pressure to settle down. They complained bitterly how he hasn’t even bothered introducing a girl to the family. In fact, I started feeling uncomfortable when our parents started making those complains.

Last 3 months my brother managed to get a girlfriend and introduced her to the family. I was very furious with him but he told me we can’t do this forever, Tima after sleeping with him for 10 years this is the heartbreak I get?

So I also intentionally got pregnant in order to keep him forever and prevent him from marrying another woman. Now I’m frustrated, please what do I do? I am 6 weeks pregnant. Please help me, I love him so much.
